This enticing little read captured my attention right from the start and had me devouring the pages as fast as I could swipe them!! I always enjoy a good friends to lovers story, and I have to say this one had the perfect amounts of everything, it was packed with steamy moments, laugh out loud moments, and tender moments that warmed my heart!! Some of my favorite reads have been centered around sexy, well-skilled hockey players, and I have to say after finishing this one it’s safe to say Beck earned himself a spot amongst my favorites…he had me swooning the whole way through!! Loved every minute of this story!!
If you like your fairy tales a little on the naughty side and equipped with a sexy hockey star calling the shots, then this might just be a perfect read for you!! Highly recommend!!
A nice solid friends to lovers romance with people you like. While the book had sex in it, it wasn’t all the time or even half of the book. I do get tired of romances that are just about the sex. Relatively little swearing, too. I really like this author.
There are few books with college students in lead that really work for me – this is one. Great characters, great progression, great read.
Loved it
This book was a pleasant surprise. I loved the characters and the storyline.
Loved the book even though Ending felt rushed. Would like to continue with their story and how he fares in the business world and them working together.
I Loved the characters, they were friends before they became more. Their attraction and banter was fun to read. Their relationship was easy and so sweet that you can’t help fall in love with them.
Really liked this book even hope to hear more about this couple in future books.
cute read. Very enjoyable read.
Good read. Though not exceptional. Thought they were cute together. Glad for the HEA.
Loved the characters and the story was a great sort of Cinderella story
Characters were all likable with just the right amount of angst
I enjoyed reading this book.
Loved this book
Fast paced and fun, a satisfying read.
Good quick read
I love it when you get a free book from Bookbub and find a new author to enjoy. Already read another one and it was just as good. Highly recommend this author
Getting Lucky Number Seven by Cindi Madsen is an entertaining contemporary romance. Ms. Madsen has delivered a well-written book. The characters are fantastic. Lyla is a nerd and best friends with Beck. Beck is a hockey jock with a background nobody knows about. Beck and Lyla’s story is loaded with drama, humor and sizzle. I enjoyed reading this fun story and look forward to reading more from Cindi Madsen in the future. Getting Lucky Number Seven is book 1 of the Taking Shots Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
4 What Do You Get When…… stars. This was a really sweet, but not sappy read. It had the right mix of angst, drama, sweet, and snarky. There was some serious mixed with fun, nothing over the top. Well done, Ms. Madsen!
Lyla is in her first year at Boston College. She’s a nerd and most of the time she embraces that, but she’s ready to bust out of her nerd stereotype. How to do that? Make a college bucket list. Who to help her with her list? Her BFF, Beck.
Beck is a closet nerd. He’s really the ultimate hockey jock, popular hot guy, top college athlete that hides his inner nerd. Except when he’s with Lyla. They bonded over chemistry (yep, pun totally intended!) and quickly became Sunday night hang out movie/study buddies. So, when Lyla decided to make a bucket list, Beck was all in to make sure that she was safe and didn’t get hurt. After all, he knows what guys are like.
Before you know it, that bucket list becomes more personal to both Lyla and Beck. Can they risk their BFF status for something more? Do they want to? The storyline is nothing new, but Beck and Lyla give it a freshness that makes you want to keep the pages turning. The nerd jokes? Total bonus!
I’m happy that the few NA books I’ve read lately have been on the “good” side.
While this one has a definite The Deal (Elle Kennedy) feel to it, it wasn’t really a turn-off, more of a reminder that I loved that book so maybe this would work out for me too.
Beck is the hot captain of the hockey team. Layla is the shy and nerdy girl who’s hiding a mother of a body under her hippy-chick clothes. They are friends since they had to work together in a chemistry class.
They have a totally platonic friendship, that is until Layla decides that she doesn’t want to be a goody-two-shoes anymore. She wants to have the college experience that everyone else seems to be having (you know: partying, making out with whomever, wild sex in public bathrooms and another number of stupid things kids seem to think are cool to do in your late teens and early twenties). This part kind of annoyed me a little bit, but this is NA so I had to go with it.
So, onward with a life-style change, Layla asks Beck to be her college-experience coach. Well, you can imagine the rest. Suddenly there’s this voluptuous redhead hot chick with Layla’s personality and Beck can’t keep it in his pants, I mean, he sees Layla in a new light.
There is this huge secretive thing about Beck’s family that I felt it was kind of over mystified. Some of Layla’s issues with her family and her life were proper to her age so I didn’t really care for them, but as a whole, I really enjoyed this book. It left me with a smile on my face and a happy mood.
It had some very funny banter, some really hot moments and an excellent pace. I’m definitely going to take a look at Ms. Madsen’s previous work as I really liked her style.
