Getting Lei’d (Escape #1), my twenty-third read from author Ann Omasta. After having read Aloha, Baby! (Escape #0.5), & planning on reading the rest of the Escape Series books I found myself side-tracked by The Pet Set Trilogy: Goofy Newfies, Itty Bitty Kitties & Funny Bunnies. This is another, entertaining, and well-written HEA read from her (as narrator the author does a wonderful job). I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. Now on to Cruising for Love (Escape #2). (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
I got The Escape series recently, as I was in need of a little escapism. I wanted a light, fun read for the afternoon, and Getting Lei’d delivered! I confess, stories were the jilted bride finds love on her solo honeymoon trip usually requires I suspend a fair amount of disbelief, but Omasta does a bang-up job of setting up circumstances in a way this isn’t a difficult feat. Perhaps in part because Roxy doesn’t bolt to Hawaii on her own, but is dragged along by her sister and grandmother. The feisty-and-zany grandmother is almost a trope in these kinds of stories, but again, the writing brings the character to life. Baggy, so named because Roxy shortened “Bad Grandma” to this as a child, is a sheer delight. I was also charmed by Kai, and his unusual reason for delaying sex with Roxy.
This was truly a fun read that exceeded expectations. Exactly what I needed!
Sweet romance strikes in tropical paradise: what a honeymoon!
I enjoyed it in one sitting! Heroine Roxy has a unique honeymoon holiday accompanied by her sister Ruthie and her grandmother! Grandma Baggy is a hoot and ratchets up the humorous side of this story of finding that what goes oh, so wrong may actually be oh, so fantastically right.
This is a quick, easy read with a beautiful setting, likable characters (oh, Gary, thank goodness you never actually show your face!) and a group HEA. Fun, flirty, and not really steamy, just a bit titillating
I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Roxy got left at the alter, and her family decided she should go ahead and take the honeymoon anyway. Time to start living a more carefree life. She meets a gorgeous Hawaiian guy, her sister and grandma too. Love is blooming everywhere. You have to read to find out if any of them get a forever guy. Great read.
This is a cute little story. Roxy started out in a bad spot but as the story rolls forward her luck starts changing. I was surprised at Kai with how he acted and at the end how sweet. This is about changing your stripes and letting loose.
This is a first time author for me that I listened to on audio. She also read the book. At the beginning it seemed stilted but as the story went on I didn’t notice it as much. So the flow must have gotten better.
I would have given it 4 1/2 if I could. I truly enjoyed the antics in this read
I enjoyed the idea of a native Hawaiian falling in love with a tourist. Very improbable, but written in a way that made it very real.

What a fun listen this is! Take me to Hawaii! Roxy is jilted at the alter when her fiance and best friend run off together. To help with her situation, her grandmother takes her on her honeymoon to Hawaii, and our story begins! Roxy is a great character. While a little hesitant, she truly just want to get back on the saddle again. Kai is the bartender, and he seems to appear everywhere. Good looking, Roxy assumes he can have any woman, but his attraction is for her. These two are so entertaining as they trip over each other and try to find their way together. But the real break out in this book is Roxy’s grandmother. What a hoot that woman is! Spunky and unashamed of anything she does, she is willing to live life and enjoy it. It’s a great story of family, love, second chances, and living and enjoying life! I loved it. Ann Omasta not only writes this amazing story, but she narrates it with all the humor, passion and fun. Not all authors can narrate, but she brings her characters to life as they are meant to be. Love her stories
and keep looking for more!

Really enjoyed this book for the reversals of stereotypes, even as it appears that the characters and situations are stereotypical. Nice twist in the H-h dynamic, too. Brava, Ms. Omasta! You sure kept me entertained.

A very enjoyable read!
Ann Omasta is by far one of my favorite authors!! This is one of those books you better not start unless you have time to finish it because you won’t be able to put it down. This one was so funny and heartwarming and just perfect.
Love this series!
A lot fantastic but who needs realistic all the time.
Very good story, wonderful characters. Loved that he was the one to wait until after marriage to have sex. Loved the crazy grandma and that she was able to find love as well, you are never to old for love.
this is a fun read
We all have characters in our families and sometimes we just have to enjoy them and their escapades. Nice ending!
