Divorced mother Chantilly Adair didn’t take the job as the head of the Castleberry Georgia Historical Society because she thought it would be easy, in fact, she felt the exact opposite, and that suited her just fine. Desperate to get away from Birmingham and her ex-husband, she took her pre-teen son and high-tailed it straight to her childhood home in Castleberry, Georgia, and the echoes of her … her recently deceased parents.
A tumble down a flight of stairs and causing a bump on the head hasn’t hindered Chantilly from rehabbing the historical presence in town, but finding the dead body of the town’s BBQ king just days before the annual BBQ competition puts her right in the local detective’s hot seat.
When the spirit rumored to be haunting the dead man’s restaurant appears, Chantilly’s not sure which is worse, being accused of murder, or claiming a spirit might have had something to do with it.
Now Chantilly must save herself from a life behind bars or a stay in the psychiatric ward, and still get the competition going on time.
If you like Southern or paranormal cozy mysteries, you’ll love this first book in the Chantilly Adair Psychic Medium Cozy Mystery Series.

I really enjoyed reading Get Up and Ghost. This is an interesting paranormal mystery. I really like the characters. They are interesting and fun. The book is well written and the characters are detailed. I enjoyed the mystery and there are many twists and turns that kept me guessing right to the very end. I look forward to reading more in this series.
A paranormal mystery with a middle aged divorced mom as the main character. Chantilly is an easily relatable character which I liked alot. Her friends are a lot of fun with their wit and banter. Chnatilly moves back to her hometown after her divorce to start over. Looking for a quiet peaceful life isn’t in the cards for her when she starts seeing and hearing people from the past. Then someone gets murdered before a Bar-b-q competition that she is to judge. How is this going to turn out? Will she be able to get the spirits to leave her alone and figure out the murder? A must read. I fell in love with the first book and am excited to continue the series.
I have more than a few laugh out loud moments with this book! The characters around Chantilly are absolute jewels, even if they are a bit older than she is. They do their best to help her solve a murder that she is a suspect in. Also, she is learning to be a medium after falling and hitting her head. She does get some help from Angela Panther, a well known Georgia psychic medium. I am anxious for another book in this series! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Well this was a really good book first one I’ve read by this author and I really and truly enjoyed it looking forward to more books from this author… I recommend this book to anyone who loves cozy books truly a good story looking forward to book 2…
Excellent new series! I absolutely loved Chantilly the main character as she tried to figure out what was happening to her after she hit her head. I also loved that a character from another series makes an appearance in the book to help Chantilly get a handle on things. The plot line was fun and entertaining as well as intriguing as you try to figure out “whodoneit!” If you like a good cozy mystery with a touch of the paranormal with a ghost or two tossed in, then this book is absolutely the next one you should pick up. I am excited to see where the characters next adventure takes them!
Great New Series! Do you love a little paranormal in your cozy? This book is for you! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Chantilly, who is the main character. I liked how the character evolved from not being paranormal to being paranormal after hitting her head. She had quite the time trying to make sense of it, and the writing is excellent. If you have ever read my reviews you know I am a huge fan of a CROSSOVER even if its only one line, I am a sucker for them.
Can you see where this is going? Ahhh, I love that a special character from one of the authors other series “shows up” to help Chantilly.
The characters are so fantastic in this book and the story is well thought out. I really enjoyed this Book 1 in this new series and I cannot wait to see what Chantilly is up to next!
This first book in a new series hits it out of the park! The characters are great and I look forward to seeing more development. The story is a mystery that is well paced with a few twists and a heck of a surprise. I had the killer wrong and I enjoy when the author is able to surprise the reader like this one did. As a long time fan, the cameo from Angela Panther was one of my favorite parts. I really hope this becomes a long running series, there is a lot of potential here
Chantilly Adair is a divorced mom who has moved back to her hometown. She’s pretty normal until she’s falls a work hitting her head. After that she hears and sees things. Although hearing her dad in her mom is a little comforting, seeing a bride swing from the chandelier is more than a little upsetting. When Bobby Joe Pruitt, top competitor in the BBQ contest, is found dead, Chantilly is one of the prime suspects and she must prove her innocence. Can Chantilly solve the most recent murder and maybe settle some of the town’s ghosts?
This is a fun book. I really enjoyed it and anxiously await the next chapter in the series.
The first book in a new series shows promise of things to come. Well rounded cast of characters bring complications for Chantilly to untangle. A great diversion to read. I highly recommend the book and I await the next book.
I absolutely love this new series! Chantilly Adair is a newly divorced mom who moved back into her childhood home in Castleberry, Georgia with her teenage son after her divorce is final. She works for the Castleberry Historical Society, and is also placed in charge of the annual BBQ competition. Chantilly takes a tumble down the stairs and hits her head, and starts seeing the ghost of Agnes Hamilton, who died over 100 years ago, found hanging from the rafters of the Historic Hamilton House still dressed in her wedding dress. As plans for the BBQ competition are heating up, one of the contestants is found (by Chantilly of course) dead in his office. As she found the body and one of the last to see the victim alive, that makes Chantilly a suspect in his murder and she is determined to find the real killer. The ghost of Agnes Hamilton keeps appearing to Chantilly, giving her clues as to not only Agnes’ demise but also the recent murder, making it difficult for Chantilly to tell the difference between reality and her visions. This book has it all, a hunky detective (who is also her son’s lacrosse coach), two older eccentric friends who are constantly bickering at one another, a much younger friend who also works with Chantilly, and a very lovely town with very likable characters. A familiar name from another series by this author also makes an appearance (but I won’t tell you which one), which is an added bonus to Ms. Aspenson’s followers! I love how this author builds the characters throughout her books, and am looking forward to watching these characters, and Chantilly’s psychic abilities, grow through more books in this series.
Great new series from Carolyn Ridder Aspenson! Divorcee Chantilly Adair and her son, Austin moved back to Castleberry, Georgia into her parents home. Chantilly recently fells down the stairs at her new job at the Historical Society and got a concussion. Which is only the beginning of her problems …. as she begins to see and hear things. At the Hamilton House is where the first murder in this small town happens…the death of Bobby Joe Pruitt. Though years ago Agnes Hamilton supposedly hung herself in the Hamilton House and everyone thinks she still is haunting the place. Since Chantilly thinks she can hear and speak to ghost she decides to get in touch with Arron Banner, a special investigator about assistant that he received from a local psychic, Angela Panther to get some advice. You will have red the whole book to find out the rest!!!
this is the first time I have read this author and loved this storyline, Chantilly is a great character as well as del and Thelma they bring the humor into this paranormal cozy, look forward to reading more in this series.
A great start to a new series!
I love the heroine Carolyn Ridder Aspenson has created for The Chantilly Adair Paranormal Cozy Mystery Series. She returns to her hometown, with her son in tow, after her husband divorces her for a younger woman. Instead of becoming a bitter shrew, she picks herself up and throws all her energy into raising her son and managing the historical society in town. She soon develops friendships with a trio of women who are all as different as can be yet complement each other exceedingly well. The local detective is a childhood friend who she “helps” with a case. No spoilers in my review, so it is time to move on to my closing statement.
If you enjoy a well-written, entertaining, clean, and easy read by a master storyteller; this is a book I believe you will love reading.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review. This was just a great read. I just had so much fun reading this story. Just really enjoyed meeting these characters. I look forward to seeing more of them.
I enjoyed reading this book very much. This will be an excellent series to read. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys mysteries with ghosts. I look forward to reading more books in the series.
Chantilly Adair has moved home to Castleberry, Georgia, with her twelve-year-old son in tow. She is retreating from a bad marriage and rebuilding her life as the head of the historical society. It isn’t until she knocks herself out falling down the stairs that Chantilly has something new and troubling to deal with – ghosts!
When one of the leading contestants of the annual barbecue contest is murdered, Chantilly has to figure out how to use her new skill – and quickly! Fortunately, Angela Panther is just a phone call away.
I read Get Up and Ghost in a single sitting. I really like Chantilly and it was fun to have a guest appearance by Angela Panther.
The Chantilly Adair Psychic Medium series is shaping up to be awesome!
A great start to the Chantilly Adair series. Ms. Aspenson is giving us a new character and series with an endearing small-town southern flavor. Chantilly has moved back to Castleberry, Georgia with her son Austin after her divorce. She is in charge of the town’s historical society and after a fall down the steps, seems to not only have a knot on the back of her head but ghosts paying her a visit. As she works to solve several mysteries, she unknowing puts her life in danger. Can she find out why a woman who died in 1872 is still haunting the town? Will she and her friends be able to contact the ghost of a recently murdered man? An entertaining mystery with a “gutsy” lead character. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)
Chantilly, after a fall down the stairs, starts to see ghosts. She is trying to set up a BBQ contest, raise a teenaged son, and find out who killed a restaurant owner named Billy. Her friends Delphina and Thelma along with her assistant, Olivia, hold a séance and bring an old ghost, Agnes. Agnes also helps Chantilly find a killer. This is an interesting mystery/fantasy. The characters are well written and the plot is interesting.
Get Up and Ghost is a heart-warming, laugh out loud, cozy mystery and a cute start to a new series. Ms. Adair is not your average medium! And the secondary characters are a hoot. Del and Thelma remind me of Ouiser and Clairee from Steel Magnolias. This pair steals the show.
This book is full of Southern USA charm, humour and attitude. We are introduced to Chantilly and her son, Austin, as they adapt to life back in Georgia and loads of challenges. A most unexpected one is that Chantilly is seeing and hearing ghosts! A wonderful read and a great way to relax before bedtime. Enjoy!
