A hot and hilarious romantic comedy, perfect for fans of Sophie Kinsella, Jasmine Guillory, and Christina Lauren! What happens when you wake up in a hotel suite next to a gorgeous naked man with absolutely no memory of the past twelve hours?I guess it’s true what they say: what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.Or at least I hope it stays here. The Romantic Style Book convention was meant to be a … convention was meant to be a weekend of raucous fun with friends, sun, and enough poolside margaritas to forget about my ex. But now, instead of meeting my fans and signing books, I’m stuck with cocky divorce lawyer Nate Wexler. He’s arrogant, infuriating, and I can’t keep my hands off of him. Judging by the state of our hotel room, last night was wild. I just wish I could remember it.
A pair of matching tattoos. A half empty box of glow-in-the-dark condoms. And a… wedding veil?
What the hell just happened?

Lots of hot sex.
Get Lucky is the first book in the series Lucky In Love. Each book is a stand alone issue and doesn’t have to be read in order. This book contains humor, hot sex, alternating POVs and a HEA. The characters were likeable, the plot believable, the wit humorous but IMO this book just didn’t connect with me. I loved the 2nd book but unfortunately I was disappointed with this one. However, Lila is still a great writer and this one glitch will not deter me from continuing to read her work!
This is my first time reading Lila’s work and I can honestly say that I am now a fan girl! This is a funny, intriguing , sexy, fast paced romantic comedy !!!!
Nate ~ Our Brooding, sexy, tough as nails divorce attorney. He has become a Doubting Thomas regarding romance, love at first sight and marriage. He is now her in Vegas and preparing for the wedding of one of his best friends..he still cannot believe that he is doing it!

Julia and Nate cannot be more opposite but something is there. The straight laced Nate finds Julia irresistible but oh so irritating . Julia soon discovers that she finds great pleasure in pushing Nates buttons and doing whatever she can to get under his skin.
Julia comes to the conclusion that she can’t figure him out.
“One minute he is lecturing her and the next he is pulling John Wayne and carrying her out of the desert! It’s kind of exasperating and Maybe a lttle bit sexy! ”

I have read Lila Monroe before and usually liked it.
This one was baaaad.
It felt like watching a rerun of ‘The Hangover’. I didn’t particularly enjoy ‘The Hangover’. However, the movie had some good acting sequences and some good laughs. This one was just ridiculous.
Long and short of the book was the leading lady is a romance author there in Vegas for a convention.
The hero is a groomsman for a wedding. The wedding party and convention party meet in some bar.
The hero and heroine don’t particularly like each other. Fast forward to the morning, they find each other naked in bed and have no recollection of the night. Throughout the day they try to recollect the events of the previous night. Hint : It consists of alcohol , sex, alcohol , sex in a continuous loop.
By the end of the book, they realise they are in love and want to try dating.
Really not my kind of thing
The storyline may be basic. But you have to read it and you would really enjoy it. Lila is one of my favorite authors that write comedy-rom. Good read!!
I was enjoying it until it made a stupid political comment in what was supposed to be a cute funny book, it soured it for me, the author should not have included a bad statement about Trump or anyone else political , I stopped reading it and will not finish
If the Hangover was a romantic comedy… you just have to go with it and have fun.
This book was like The Hangover movie meets rom com. I read to about 70% of the book and things just kept getting more and more outlandish. As your reading you are getting flash backs from the night before and then the couple in the present trying to figure out what happened the night before… literally like the movie…
I loved the author’s use of humor and foe to lover in this book. I will read more of her books.
*3 Stars*
This one took me a fair bit to get into, and even then I wasn’t completely engrossed. I’m not too sure that I connected with the characters, and I was sort of just plodding along to see what would happen. Interesting story, if a bit over the top at times, but hey, it is set in Vegas!
I’m others will enjoy this more, it just wasn’t overly fabulous for me at this time.
Julia Stevens is a romance writer and new divorcee attending a romance convention in Las Vegas. She promised herself to step back from relationships, focus on her writing, and avoid seeking anything crazy after going through a messy divorce.
Nate Wexler is a divorce lawyer whose view on marriage is a cynical one. He’s in Las Vegas to help celebrate his best friend’s bachelor party and wedding. He is a cynic on marriage because he “sees too much” in his line of work. BUT since he is the best man and the best friend of the groom, he is willing to be open-minded and let the happy couple enjoy the long weekend celebration – even if it comes with an adventure that he will never forget!
Expect Get Lucky to remind you of the film, The Hangover. There were many cliche incidents and scenarios from the popularized movie. I have to be honest – I was alarmed as I got halfway through that this book was a rehash of the film. (The Hangover came out in 2009, while Get Lucky in 2016.)
Bottom line: there are very close similarities, but the main character’s POVs bring in more profound character development with talks of their pasts.
I enjoyed the timescape flashbacks and Iand instead of friends of a would-be married couple helping Julia and Nate have the full-on Las Vegas experience.
Julia is a laugh trip from start to finish with her snazzy comebacks and quick-witted retorts to anyone that messed with her. She has a load full of dirty (and clean) things in her writing arsenal that readers will enjoy, whether spoken out or in her head. I love her character a lot in the end because of her bravery and “groundedness.” She is willing to overcome her past and venture into “something” with Nate – what an adventure it was!
The scenes between Nate and Julia are some of the hottest ones I’ve read. When Nate and Julia are together, their impulsiveness is infectious and brings in the sexual tension in the scenes. Together – they are electric!
In summary, Get Lucky is a hilarious trip of an enemies-turned-lovers book. Do not let the storyline derail you from the book’s characters’ growth. Although I found Get Lucky an entertaining read with its comedic scenes and banters, it did not make an impression BUT I believe a few other readers may like it better than I have. The writing is well suited for the storyline and develops the characters to a level above the movie that it’s reminiscent of. Nate and Julia discover through their adventures how imperfectly perfect they are for each other in the end.
Would I continue with the series? Most likely! The rest of the books’ storylines are varied and exciting enough to read through. I believe it gets better as the series progressed when I reviewed a few of the series’ blurbs.
Awesome book
GET LUCKY by Lila Monroe is a contemporary romantic comedy set in Las Vegas where a divorce lawyer meets a romance writer and its hate at first sight.
Nate’s girlfriend ran off with another man, and Julia’s ex-husband scarpered because he couldn’t cope when she became a success. Neither was looking for love. So how did they end up in bed together with no memory of how they got there?
The story is told in flashback from Nate and Julia’s point of view. This is where the fun begins as their fractured memories come together, and they discover opposites can attract-no matter how hard they try to deny it.
They both struggle with the idea of falling for each other. Because for all Nate cares about his friends, he’s an uptight perfectionist, and Julia is a mad-cat lady into crochet. She also has a thing about Dr Who, Star Wars, and Star Trek. Her internal conversations with various Doctors are very silly and very funny.
As is watching Nate and Julia blunder through a series of crazy adventures. This could have descended into irritating farce, but Monroe balances the screwball comedy by imbuing her leads with emotional depth and red-hot sexual chemistry.
The backdrop of the romance writers convention is a super plot device, and there is a great cast of supporting characters. Meredith, a foul-mouthed cougar, deserves a special mention because I love her!
The story trips seamlessly from sweet to sexy to frivolous and back again. Don’t expect deep insight into modern relationships just enjoy the whacky story of when Nate met Julia.
3.5 Lucky Stars. Get Lucky is book one in the Lucky in Love series. I read Bet Me, book two, in 2018 and really enjoyed it. I’m not really sure why I didn’t jump right into Get Lucky, but alas, I didn’t. Oh well, better late than never! This is a fun one. Is it a solid 4 Stars? Not really, but it’s close. Get Lucky is an opposites attract story. Nate (Mr. Grumpy Cat) and Julia couldn’t be more opposite if they tried. They quickly go from instant dislike and scorn to “Huh…did we really get married last night?” All while celebrating the marriage of Nate’s best friends, Mike and Stacy. There are definitely some laugh-out-loud moments in this one, so make sure you don’t have a mouthful of soda….
Julia and Nate absolutely loved this story. Julia was such a great character absolutely loved her. She was so quirky and fun and she was great with stuffy shirt lawyer Nate. The wild night they had together and first meeting were just perfect.
This book was cute, funny, romantic and an overall good read. The only reason I gave it 3 1/2 stars was because of all the Dr. Who, Harry Potter, Star Trek, and other TV/movie references that I did not get since I’m not a fan of those shows. I am sure if I would have understood those references, I would have found many parts hilarious.
Este foi um livro bem interessante. Se aparecer algum outro do tipo com certeza vou ler. Grata
This was a really fun read. I loved the characters and the situations they found themselves in. Neither character remembers what they did the night before and must spend time together to unravel the mystery.
Entertaining but not enough that I’ll need too read all of the books.
Hmmm, not a book for the boomer generation.
