Amazing, funny and hot!! Tyree and Eva are torn apart and forced to live separate lives. One tie (unbeknownst to Tyree) will always remain. Is it strong enough to bring them back?
This book will have you smiling, crying and begging for it not to end.
I cannot wait for May!!
Tyree has had his share of love loss. First the woman he loved started a family with another man while he was fighting for his country overseas. Then he losses his wife after a tragic accident. It is not until a young woman comes into the bar that reminds him of the woman he let get away that the truth about what really happens comes to life. But can he let go of the memories of his wife in order to start again with his first love? Or will Tyree once again lose everything? With great characters and a storyline that you just want to keep reading this was a fabulous read. I cannot wait for more in this series.
We finally get to know the ever present owner of the Fix who has been a fixture since the first book, the fabulously wonderful father and inventive cook who has been given a raw deal in love and life. His girlfriend didn’t wait for him when he was deployed as a Marine and his wife died and now he may lose his bar if he and his partners cannot get it back in the black before the end of the year. This has him ruminating when he catches a glimpse of a woman who looks familiar and brings back memories of a love lost, Eva. Days later the same woman knocks on his office door and introduces herself as Elena, his daughter. Talk about a twist of fate, he didn’t know he had a daughter and then in walks her mom, Eva, his long-lost love. This starts the whirlwind story of love and forgiveness (you have to read to find out why) and finding love again. Oh, and add to this a 15-year-old son who is mature for his age and wise beyond his years and this makes for a great mixed family. Tyree is this month’s man as he is wrangled into the contest and even though all the regulars do not make an appearance this time we know they are still hanging out at the Fix.
This one can be read as a standalone but this is such a great series I recommend them all!
YAY – We finally learn more about the man that started it all! Tyree has lost so much in life and now he is trying to save his bar The Fix on Sixth. His bar and son are his life. His friends and some locals/regulars are all helping to save the bar for the man they love and respect. This book had some surprises for me. I thought after reading the other books I knew who was going to be Tyree’s person but I was wrong, it’s the past that brings him surprises and lots of emotions he has to deal with. I loved Tyree’s story and his second chance at love!
OMG! I was so excited when I found it this was going to by Tyree’s story! I feel like we’ve waited forever for it to be his turn, but it was well worth the wait! This story was everything and MORE! I think Tyree is my new favorite MotM (yes – I know I say that every month)
I couldn’t wait for Tyree’s story. It did not disappoint. Tyree Johnson is the owner of the bar The Fix on Sixth. Eva Anderson is a photographer. Twenty years ago they had a short love affair and Tyree was shipped out with the Marines. When he got home he went to find Eva with someone else. Thinking she moved on he met Teiko. Teiko became the love he wanted. But 7 years ago she was taking away from him. In walks Eva. This a great love story of second chances.
This is Tyree and Eva’s story, the fifth installment of the Man of the Month series. Being totally honest, this has not been my favorite novella to date, but it still made for an enjoyable read. A young woman walks into Tyree’s bar and he feels like he has seen a ghost. She bears a remarkable resemblance to a lost love from many years ago before Tyree was shipped out to war. When he gets back from the war to find that the woman he loved has moved on, he is devastated but vows to make the most of his life. Now, twenty three years later, this woman’s daughter is standing in front of him dropping a bombshell. This was well written as is the norm from Ms Kenner and I felt the guilt that Tyree had over loving another women after his wife had died was believable and understandable and not too contrived. All in all, a good addition to this series of novellas.
This was the perfect addition to the Man Of The Month series!!!
I’ve been hoping Tyree would get a book, and was so excited to see his was also a second chance love!! Him and Eva heated up the pages, with a little help from secondary characters who pushed them together. I loved that Eva was a strong heroine and driven in her career, but she also had time for love. This is definitely a must read!!!
Gah!! Tyree… is have been waiting for his book since the first one and J Kenner did not disappoint! Tyree is a good man that has suffered more pain than anyone should have to. He has loved and lost, he has his son but lives with the guilt and loneliness daily. He has settled on the fact that his bar and his family/friends will be the way he spends the rest of his life. He never expects his past to walk through the door of his bar and bring his the surprise of a lifetime. This books proves that love can stay true no matter how many years in between!
If you haven’t started the man of the month series yet, you are seriously missing out!! Each book can be read as a standalone but really…why? Just read the all!

Thoughts: We finally get Tyree!! He’s been a constant in all the books and I’ve been looking forward to his story. And quite the story too, when he loves, he does it with everything. A proud man, loyal to a fault, who is willing to admit when he’s wrong, smart, driven, and just damn sexy. I loved learning more about him! A great second chance romance where it seems the love grew over their time apart. Loved it!.
Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work and chose to write a review.
Finally, Tyree – the owner of The Fix – gets to have his say! And some shocking news from his past makes itself known in the present, when a young woman named Elena shows up and introduces herself as his daughter. Seems like 20 yrs or so ago, another woman named Eva had fling with Tyree while he was stationed near her and somehow they parted ways. Will this become to straw that breaks the camels back? Or are Tyree and Eva due for a second chance at love?
I enjoyed getting to know more about our stoic bar owner and his backstory – especially his love life. Seems as if Eva was the one who got away and his wife Teiko was the love of his life. While there are some sad parts to this story, I found myself engrossed in Eva & Tyree’s second chance – especially since Elena was the driving force behind it.
Get It On is definitely a fun, quick read and a great addition to the Man of the Month series.
This was such a sweet second chance love story for Tyree and Eva. We continue on in the Man of the Month series with Tyree and Eva. They had been in love over 20 years ago, but Tyree went to war and when he came back, he though Eva had moved on and Eva thought Tyree never came back. When they reconnect there are all of the feels of lost love. Tyree feels so much guilt. Can he love again after his wife who he loved with all of his heart, too? I loved watching these 2 reconnect.
“He wasn’t sure if he was luckier than most or cursed to have had that kind of passion. The kind of love that sunk into the marrow and made you part of the other person.”
Mr. May has his own internal struggles that he has been fighting for seven years. Will the itch finally go away? Will he breakthrough what has been holding himself back and finally set his guilt free?
“You don’t have to love her. You don’t have to want her. But please don’t hurt her.”
Was it all lies, secrets and hiding from him? Or were they both deceived? Now they and looking to fulfill their memories, hopes, dreams and be freed of their regrets. Will they get their second chance or will the guilt win?
“…how could a young woman grow up right if her closest role model was a woman who settled?”
There are many emotions in this story and they are handled beautifully, passionately, respectfully and as always~with humor! I love the strength and weaknesses of these characters. The maturity yet the playfulness is just as endearing.
“I said there wasn’t much. But I won’t give myself. I won’t settle. I did that before, and I’m not going to do it again….I want a man who loves me. Who isn’t afraid to love me completely.”
Tyree was so easy to fall in love with. Yet I can’t wait to find out what Mr. June has in store for
Parker in the Man of the Month series!
The Boss has a complicated past which just got a little more complicated. When his past shows up to greet him he might finally let go of his grief and accept his own happy ending. The battle of wills at the bar has nothing against the battle he is fighting but util he gets out of his head he wont be able to move on with his heart. I love where the author takes his story. We knew it wouldn’t be like the others and we re most definitely not disappointed.
Great addition to the calendar and the men who win and the women who love them and keep them on track.
5 Star Review Get It On (Man of the Month #5) by J Kenner
The fifth book in the series and is Tyree and Eva’s story and oh what a story it was, decades in the making. This was a fun quick story which flowed well and was a wonderful read.
The books in this series can easily be read as stand alone, but since they are not that long and a quick and easy read I would recommend you one click them all.
What happens when fate (or a father interference) steps in and changes the course of a couple’s lives? That is the position Tyree and Eva find themselves in when Tyree is suddenly confronted by Elena, the daughter he never knew he had.
Turns out Eva’s father led her to believe that Tyree had been killed in action before their daughter was born. If he wasn’t already dead I am not sure he would have survived both Tyree and Eva’s anger.
After losing his wife in a car accident 7 years ago, Tyree Johnson has led a lonely existence. Not being able to move on , he has thrown himself into bringing up his son Eli and the bar he owns The Fix.
When Eva, his first love, suddenly comes back into his life, he is ecstatic and yet conflicted too. He has always loved her, but he also loved his wife and was shattered when she died.
I had already come to love the character of Tyree whilst reading the other books in the series but in Get It On, he really came into the spotlight. I loved Tyree and Eva separately but most especially together. Eva is a strong and independent woman who is absolutely suited to Tyree.
This may well be my favourite book to date, maybe because this is a second chance at love, which is a genre I love, but this one was a more emotional read and I was totally invested in these two from the start.
I devoured this book in one sitting and cannot wait for Mr.June so one click now and see what happens.
Book 5 in the Man of the Month Series and is this book we get to know what makes Tyree bar owner of The Fix tick, this was the story I have been waiting for because in all the previous books Tyree is in the background and for me he has become the mystery man of the series and I needed to know his story…….
Tyree lost his wife seven years ago and since then running the bar and bringing up his son has been his sole purpose so when a young woman walks into the bar claiming to be his daughter he is stunned but when she tells him her name it all falls into place, he realises she is the daughter of the girlfriend he had when he joined the military the girlfriend he thought had moved on while he was active duty.
Eva has spent the last 23 years believing Tyree had been killed in action so she was just as stunned to find out he was still alive, what follows is two people learning to know each other and falling in love again as well a siblings getting to know each other……..
I love this series and I love that every book can be read as stand-alones, the characters are all very different and all have there own story to tell, I’m really looking forward to meeting Mr June.
Tyree’s story surprised me. I knew he loved his wife and still felt her loss years later, but he had another amazing love story to tell. When Elena shows up at The Fix, she reminds him of a woman he lost years ago, Eva. When Eva appears, Tyree finds his world shifted again. Eva has built a career and is a strong confident woman but coming face-to-face with Tyree, well, she just isn’t prepared. Elena is the wild card and great manipulator. This second chance romance was so fun to experience while gut wrenching at the same time. You think you know what happened but as the story unfolds, there is a depth to the separation that surprised me. I just really wanted Tyree to find happiness again as he fights to keep his bar alive, he needs to keep his soul happy too.
GET IT ON is the fifth instalment in J. Kenner’s contemporary, adult MAN OF THE MONTH erotic, romance novella series focusing on a fund raiser for the popular Austin, Texas bar known as The Fix. This is bar owner and widower Tyree Johnson, and photographer Eva Anderson’s story line. GET IT ON can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary, although I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion.
SOME BACKGROUND: The Fix on Sixth, a local Austin hangout and bar, is in desperate need of renovations and a quick influx of cash so a plan is put into motion, by a group of regulars, a plan that includes a Man of the Month calendar competition, and a reality show aimed at rehabbing the bar.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Eva and Tyree) GET IT ON follows the rebuilding relationship between bar owner Tyree Johnson, and Eva Anderson. Approximately twenty four years earlier Eva and Tyree fell in love with one another but duty called, and Tyree headed to war. Shortly thereafter, Eva learned that she was pregnant and her father let her believe that Tyree had died. Fast forward to present day wherein Elena Anderson will come looking for her father- a man she never knew existed-but the man her mother has never stopped loving. What ensues is the rekindling romance between Tyree and Eva as Elena puts into motion a plan to push her parents together, and the fall-out as Tyree is unable to let go of the past, and struggles with the guilt and death of the wife he still loves.
Eva Anderson had no idea that Tyree Johnson was still alive. Her father, a trusted military contractor, led our heroine to believe that the man that she loved had died in combat. Pregnant and alone, Eva married a man she did not love only to find herself divorced five years later. Tyree Johnson was devastated upon his return from war to find the woman he loved happily married with a daughter. Angry and grieving Tyree would quickly meet Teiko, a young waitress, who would heal his heart and give him a son.
The relationship between Eva and Tyree is one of second chances; a rekindling romance that struggles with Tyree’s guilt about the death of his beloved wife, a death he has yet to reconcile affecting his future with the woman from his past. The $ex scenes are limited as Tyree battles between his head and his heart.
GET IT ON is a bit of a departure from the previous instalments in that the romance struggles (in many aspects) with our hero’s inability to move forward. Teiko’s ghost is a constant presence in their rekindling relationship; Tyree believes to fall in love with Eva will dishonor the memories of the wife he still loves. The premise is sweet and touching; the romance struggles with ghosts from the past; the characters are real and honest.
