Skillful hands. A talented tongue. Meet Mr. May.Fate’s been messing with veteran Tyree Johnson. It took his buddies in combat and his wife in a fatal car accident. But he’ll be damned if he’ll let Fate take his beloved bar, The Fix on Sixth. For years, he’s avoided being Fate’s whipping boy through sheer force of will, and now every bit of his focus is centered on saving his business. Until, that … focus is centered on saving his business. Until, that is, the first woman who ever touched his heart walks back into his life—along with a daughter he never knew.
After years of loneliness, Tyree’s not prepared for the way Eva’s sensual curves and sharp wit still capture his heart and rekindle his senses. All he knows is that for the first time in forever, he’s found a passion other than his bar. But one final twist arrives when Fate pits the bar he can’t bear to lose against the woman who’s stolen his heart.
He’s a master at red-hot ecstasy.

Ruthie –
This is the fifth book in the series and I would definitely recommend that you read them in order, as they follow on naturally from each other, and there are many threads running through the ongoing plot.
Tyree was definitely a man we expected to find a new love – but little could we have expected such a moving and complicated story. It was a really beautiful second chance romance, with some lovely touches of humour, from Elena and Eli in particular. I found the actions of Eva’s father sadly believable. For Tyree it was bittersweet, given he had found love again even if it was cruelly cut short. I think that his confusion, anger, and distress at how he reacted to his renewed feelings for Eva were very sympathetically written. His immediate acceptance and love for his newly found daughter gave the measure of the man.
The bar business is also moving along, and the fact that the local competition is playing dirty, probably indicates that they are concerned about its increasing success. Loved the winner for May!
The epilogue sets up the next book, and it should be another fun installment.
Reviewers on the Wicked Reads Review Team were provided a free copy of Get It On (Man of the Month #5) by J. Kenner to read and review for this tour.
I’m normally not one for the older couples in Books, nothing against them, it’s just not my thing. But Tyree and Eva’s story was quite hot and awesome!! I LOVE The Fix crowd!
And Elena and Eli are just amazing!!! I love how sneaky Elena is to try and get her parents together, especially since it’s been 20 years since they’ve seen each other.
Just another great installment of the MotM calendar and club! I LOVE this series so much!!!
Tyree is the owner of The Fix, and is shocked to say the least when a young woman walks into his bar claiming to be his daughter. Her mother, Eva, is the one who got away. Eva had no idea that Tyree was alive and their daughter took matters into her own hands and traveled to see Tyree before she got the chance to.
Tyree and Eva have a second chance at love after years apart and I enjoyed the story. It was nice to finally get the story of the owner of The Fix. It definitely had a sad element to it but it was a good read.
Get It On is another fun, quick read in the Man of the Month series. Even though it is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.
Tyree and Eva are tied together by more than just past memories. When Elena drops the bomb at The Fix to Tyree on who she is, his world spins. A ghost reappears in his world and now he must acknowledge his beating heart for his first love.
Get It On by the talented J. Kenner has kept powering through at providing her dedicated readers enticing novels in her Man of the Month series with whimsical yet sexy reads that excite us, pull at our heart strings and make us want to sit at The Fix to have a cold one. Get It On is a tale at second chances and reconnecting feelings/emotions and knowing when to let your past love set sail and let old flames reignite!
“But you won’t let yourself love me. Not fully. Because you think it’s dishonoring Teiko. You’re a big man, Ty, with a big heart. Did you ever think there’s room in there for the both of us.”
So far, this is one of my favorites. I am a sucker for second chances and besides the first novel in this series, with Reece and Jenna, Tyree and Eva burn up the pages with their impeccable chemistry. Not to mention Elena who is fantastic at playing Cupid. We have gotten to know Tyree throughout the previous books and now it’s his time to shine with his story, don’t miss it, cause it’s one you don’t want to miss with his big heart that is big enough to love for everyone in his life.
Well done Julie at another fantastic installment in the Man of the Month series!
Tyree was a character that I was interested in finding out more about throughout themas of the month series and finally I had my answers. I really enjoyed this story and I loved the relationship between Tyree and Eva. I loved the second chance at love storyline and secret child storyline as well. This as done incredible well and showed how well J.Kenner has written this series. I cannot wait to read the next story in this series.
Tyree is the owner of the Fix on sixth. He is a single dad to a boy at sixteen and lost the love of his life long time ago. Before her there were one women Eva but after leaving for the army he never heard from her agin. So many years later a beautiful girl confront him claiming she is his daughter and Eva is her mother. Is there hope for Tyree and Eva? can he find love agin and move on from his dead wife? Such a great book I love that the action starts right away and keeps beeing exciting all trough the book. A true love story so sweet and romantic. I loved it and can’t wait for the next book in the series
Get It On is the 5th book in the Man of the Month series by JKenner. Tyree is the owner of The Fix, an Austin bar that needs to pick sales up in order to keep its doors open and they have until the end of the year to do just that, so Tyree and his close knit of friends, along with his new Marketing Manager decide to hold monthly contests for a Man of the Month with local celebrities and hot firefighters. This time around, Tyree is in the hot seat.
The story is a strong and emotional one. Tyree is a widower and raising his 16 year old son on his own, along with running his dream bar. Eva is his first love who he ends up losing when he’s off fighting for his country in the Marines because her father didn’t think Tyree was good enough, so he tells his daughter that Tyree was killed in action, problem is that Eva was pregnant with Tyree’s baby. I think the only problem I had with this story was how quickly the relationship rekindled with Tyree and Eva. Yes, Elena, Tyree’s new found daughter, goes and looks for him to find her father, which was a bit too strong in the early stages for me, she just pushed too hard, but the developing relationship between Tyree and Eva just seemed too rushed for me. I can’t imagine having to live life after the loss of a spouse, especially trying to start up another relationship, but at times it was a bag of mixed confusing emotions on how he handled things, just seemed rushed.
Overall I enjoyed the book and am looking forward to the next one in the series.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book
I am loving this series from Ms. Kenner and each couple’s story so far is so special. This one is about Tyree Johnson, the owner of the bar The Fix on Sixth and finding his first love again. Fate has dealt Tyree some tragic things but he is determine to keep going for himself and for his son. He is still trying to get over the death of his wife from 7 years ago and is trying to keep his bar from going bankrupt with the help of his friends.
The past comes back to haunt Tyree when he finds out that he had a daughter with his first love, Eva, over 25 years ago. Eva had thought that Tyree was dead so she broke down and married a man she didn’t love because she was pregnant with Tyree’s child. Tyree thought that Eva got over him and moved on when he was shipped overseas. Eva finds out the truth of what happened to Tyree and once Tyree finds out he has a daughter with Eva, he also gets the real truth of what happened with Eva.
Eva is recruited to be the photographer for the calendar shoot for the winners of the men of the month calendar and she stipulates that for her to help, she wants Tyree to entered the May Men of the Month contest which he does since he knows this is to help his bar. As the 2 of them spend time together, they realize that their feelings never died but Tyree feels guilty about his deceased wife and has to work through his guilt about moving on with his first love. Eva feels that Tyree needs to work through his issues before they can decide about their future.
Tyree and Eva is such a wonderful couple along with the other couples so far in the series. We also get updates on the other characters from the previous books along with a preview of what is coming up in the future books!
Tyree’s story is the one that I have been anticipating next! Get It On was a great story. My heart was split in two once I read how he never got over his loss of his wife. What I did not expect was that his past went further than what was originally led on.
Elena finds Tyree and drops the bomb shell that she is his daughter he has with Eva. When Eva and Tyree reunite again, I did not think that this relationship could work. They were hot and heavy one minute and then cold the next. But the back story will give you the reason why. Now will Eva and Tyree finally get together? Or are they just better as friends? I loved his daughter and son together! Elena had me laughing and I grew to love her character too.
Get It On has a sprinkle of sexy, but a whole lot of emotional rebuilding. Can this second chance romance survive? I seriously cannot get enough of these men! Bring in Mr. June next!
Get It On is the fifth book in the Man of the Month Series by J. Kenner! This one is about Tyree, the owner of The Fix. What a man he is!!!! Life hasn’t always been kind to him. He lost his first love. He lost friends during his time in the military. When he met Teiko who would become his wife, he thought FINALLY…happiness. Life again took something from him…his Teiko whom he loved and adored. She took away the pain and rejection away and filled his life with joy and color. His only saving grace has been his son and his bar, The Fix. He is surviving, but he really isn’t living his life even though years have passed since he lost her. Just when he thinks fate has left him alone, he doesn’t realize life has a huge surprise for him in the form of his first love, Eva, and a daughter he never knew he had.
This is NOT your average second chance love story, and that is what made me LOVE IT! Tyree is older and still as sexy as ever. It wasn’t just his good looks that drew me to him, but it was more his heart and his ability to get up and move forward instead of laying down in the face of opposition. He does hesitate with Eva, but it isn’t because he doesn’t love her or trust her, he feels like he is betraying Teiko. Yeah, he has been with other women, but none of them had his heart like these two women did. I was so glad that Kenner didn’t diminish his love for his wife when Eva came back into the picture. She honored their love and marriage.
Tyree is also an amazing father to his son with Teiko and to Elena, his daughter with Eva. Again, Kenner made me happy! He immediately loved Elena even though he never knew of her existence until she was an adult. His bond with his children also makes him incredibly sexy. There is nothing better than a father who loves his kids.
I respected Eva as well. Life for her wasn’t easy. She was betrayed in the worst way by someone she loved and trusted, totally taking away her chance of happiness with Tyree. That part of the book actually brought tears to my eyes. Like Tyree, she concentrates on raising her daughter, never letting fate completely overwhelm her. She amazed me with her patience. She never rushed Tyree, and she respected his love for Teiko. She is beautiful, smart, artistic, and so incredibly strong.
There was plenty of sexy moments between them, but I enjoyed their sweeter moments too. It was a treat seeing them getting to know each other again and falling in love. Not only was the story about them, but their children. I loved that Eli and Elena accepted each other the way they did.
One of the great things about this series are the different characters that are weaved into each book. That made me feel like I was a part of their group. Kenner does a great job of setting us up for her next book in the series with the epilogue! Really looking forward to that one!!!!
****Read and Reviewed for Devilishly Delicious Book Reviews****
Yeah, yeah, I know I keep saying the latest release in the Man of the Month series is my new favorite. But, seriously, I mean it this time . . . well, at least until Mr. June is released . . . *wink*
Okay . . . back to my latest man crush, one Tyree Johnson. He’s been very busy the past several years raising his son after the death of his beloved wife and running his bar, The Fix on Sixth. Now with the bar running smoothly, and all the exciting things happening, Tyree’s found himself in a bit of a conundrum . . . he’s able to step back and breathe a little. And open his eyes to the possibilities around him—and low and behold, his eyes are wide open when he discovers the daughter he never knew existed.
But while Tyree is thrilled to meet his daughter, he’s also thrilled that her mother is back in his life too. But while Tyree’s brain and err . . . other parts of him are excited about the possibilities, it’s his heart he’s worried about. He loved his wife fiercely, and is he ready to move on and allow another woman into his life and into his heart too.
Oh Tyree. I love you, man. I love how you love. I love how you want to love again. I love how hard you try. And I love how you work your way through. And I love you with Eva. And I love how you get a second chance to love again.
Get It On just worked for me. It hit all my sweet spots: second-chance romance, secret baby . . . yes, it’s a quick read. Yes, it’s an insta-rekindled love. Yes, it’s an HEA. And, yes, I’ll read more and more of this awesome series.
This series is turning out to be my favorite escape every two weeks. The stories are somewhat short and fun to read with just the right amount of heartbreak to make them irresistible. And Get It On is not an exception.
Tyree and Eva are two fun and strong characters that will intrigue you from the very start. Though their life was thrown out if it’s axes years ago and broke their hearts to pieces, faith, in the guise of their daughter, has thrown them back together. And when old feelings start to resurface, there is not much either of them can do.
I have to say though that my favorite part of the book was Emilia. She was simply hilarious and she won my heart from the very start. I loved her thirst for life and the “take no prisoners” attitude. And her scheming ways made me laugh on more that one occasion 🙂
So if you haven’t started the series yet, you can just jump in here. Each story is a standalone though with intertwining characters, so you might want to read them in order. But if you feel like jumping in and starting with Tyree and Eva’s story, I am sure you won’t regret it 🙂
Another 5 star read in the awesome Man of the Month series! Tyree and Eva’s story is a bittersweet second chance romance of two people kept apart by lies. These two are sizzling hot together and make a great couple. Tyree’s story is one of love lost and found, sweet surprises, and a great group of friends coming together to save his bar. Loved the ending and can’t wait for the next book!
“He wanted her near. He wanted her close. But that desire was a double-edged sword, because every night when he was alone, he felt the shadow. Because if he let Eva in, didn’t that mean letting Teiko go?”
I love this series. I have pretty much said so in my review of each of the books before this one. What I loved the most about this one was that our main characters are in their forties. Established in their lives. And now, they’re getting a second chance. Not a “I haven’t seen you in 5 or 10 years” kind of chance. This was a twenty-plus separation! Love it!!
Tyree Johnson once had it all, and lost it. He’s lost the two women in his life that he ever loved – The first to a lie. The second in a tragic accident. Now, he might lose his bar , The Fix. He’s determined not to let that happen and is focusing all of his effort and energy in to keeping it open. When a mysterious young woman appears, claiming to be his daughter, his focus is shifted – to the first woman he ever loved. Eva Anderson. Can he see past the anger and the lies to see what’s right in front of him? Will he ever be able to let go of the memory of his late wife, to move forward with Eva? With their lives a thousand miles apart, will he have to choose between The Fix and Eva?
Eva Anderson loved Tyree decades ago. He deployed before she knew she was pregnant. Then he was killed in combat. Or, so she’d been told. A recent discovery in her late father’s belongings, told her that he was indeed alive. Unsure of what to say to him, she’s not sure if finding him is the right thing. But, after their daughter, Elena starts the ball rolling, she has no choice but to confront him. Will he understand? When all those old feelings come rushing back in, should she embrace them, or push them down?
I loved the fact that Eva was so strong. How understanding she was about Tyree’s struggle between Eva and the memory of his late wife. And we now have a newly crowned Man of the Month!
I couldn’t wait to hear Tyree’s story! Tyree is the owner of The Fix on Sixth. He has a son with his late wife and quickly learns about family he didn’t know he had. Eva was his first love and he couldn’t wait to return to her after serving for his country. But that was decades ago. Could Tyree love someone after his late wife?
As always, I recommend this book – and this series!
Spoiler Alert:
I struggled to get through this book. I think what made it hard for me was the age gap between myself and the characters and their storyline in general. I couldn’t place myself there.
Tyree and Eva are a second chance romance secret baby story. There is guilt for Tyree for feeling as if he’s dishonoring his first wife’s memory. As I said, there were a lot things that it difficult to get through the story due to relate ability.
Since being introduced to The Fix on Sixth and how the previous characters in the series have stepped up to help its owner, Tyree Johnson, save the infamous bar, I’ve wanted to hear his story and understand how he got into the position that he’s in and what his plans are to not only save his business, but also to perhaps end his years of loneliness because it seems he’s been Fate’s ‘bitch’ for quite some time and given the fickle nature of what presides over people’s lives, it’s about time Tyree makes some moves on his own and puts an end to the devastating journey he’s been on for much longer than he deserves.
Get It On, like its predecessors in the series, is a quick, steamy, and entertaining story that speeds up and heats up the hero and heroine’s feelings and chemistry. But where Tyree and Eva’s story differs is in the fact that these two have an emotional history, and with Eva’s reappearance in his life, he learns even more about what he’s been missing out on all these years and what he needs to do to not only save his bar but also his relationship with a woman who meant everything to him in the past and now means even more in the present because she helps end Fate’s reign on Tyree’s life.
J. Kenner does a good job at exploring Tyree and Eva’s past and the reasons that Eva was not forthcoming with important information that Tyree deserved to know. But while those details help readers understand everything that happened between them, I still didn’t feel like the main characters evolved enough as their story continued and I wanted that insight…I needed to put all the puzzle pieces together and then witness this second chance at love and at life blossom into something lasting. But I do have to say that I’m more than aware of what this series is meant to be and while I did want a bit more development, I still enjoyed Tyree and Eva’s reunion and the fact that Tyree finally had a chance to show Fate who’s boss!
Tyree, Mr. May, may not have wanted to be part of the bar’s calendar, but if readers have learned anything from the previous books, it’s clear that it’s not too difficult to wrangle these men into posing for the camera.
3.5/4 Poison Apples
It’s Tyree’s time to shine.
I really enjoyed getting to know more about Tyree and his story was certainly one for the books. As the original owner of The Fix on Sixth, I knew he was a great guy. He’s well loved by his friends. I mean, look what they did for him, joining forces and bank accounts to save the bar.
They are getting it on and getting there.
Tyree’s past comes back to haunt him when the daughter of an old love Eva Winston shows up in the bar with news he wasn’t expecting.
Finding out he had a long lost daughter comes as a shock and it’s not a pretty sight when he confronts Eva. He believes she betrayed him and cost him time with his first born.
Tyree is a good man, a great friend and father, but he has a hard time with this news.
But, when the truth comes out, can he fix his mistakes or will Eva truly leave him this time?
Find out in the newest installment of the ‘Man of the Month’ series today.
This was probably the most touching story in the Man of the Month series. Tyree & Eva are former lovers, reunited after over 20 years to both their dismay. She thought he was dead, deceived by her father & pushed into a loveless marriage. He thought she had forgotten him & gotten pregnant by another man while he was deployed. Little did he know they had a daughter together. After working through their initial misunderstandings, the two realize they still have a lot of unresolved feelings for each other. Tyree’s guilt & confusion about moving on from his deceased wife made for an emotional & moving story.
I really enjoyed Tyree’s story. I wasn’t sure how I would so it was a surprise that I finished it in just a few hours. It can be tricky writing and justifying a long lost love with a child involved that doesn’t make someone “the bad guy”, but J Kenner has done it with Tyree and Eva. They still had a connection even after so much time has passed. And I liked the fact that he loved his late wife, Teiko just as much and that he didn’t just “settle for second best”. I, also, liked the way J Kenner wrote their first attempt at intimacy, it was very real. Both Elijah and Elena seemed well adjusted and not bratty, which can be a refreshing change. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick, satisfying read.
