Darby has always been ‘that’ guy.The guy that no man, woman, or child wants around their loved one.See, a long time ago he made some bad decisions. Those bad decisions have haunted him ever since. No matter what he does, people still see him as the town’s screw up. The boy that sold his soul to the Devil.Years later, he’s turned himself around. Made amends and ultimately turned into a generally … into a generally good guy. Only, it’s hard to act like a good guy when people still treat you like the old you, and not the new you.
Enter Waylynn Jennings.
Waylynn has watched Darby Valentine from afar for a very long time.
She’s witnessed the changes in him and knows the only reason he’s so mean is to protect the man that lies within. A battered, injured soul that deserves more than what he’s received. Even his own family takes him for granted.
She’s made it her new mission in life to prove to everyone that Darby isn’t the bad guy. That he’s a kind-hearted, sweet soul that’s just looking for a place to fit in.
Only, Darby is fairly sure that Waylynn is out to kill him, not help him. How else do you explain all the fights he’s having to break up on her behalf, or all the times he has to come to her rescue when she’s managed to put her cute little butt right in the middle of something where it shouldn’t be?
There’s obviously only one solution. He has to make her his. Then everyone will know not to mess with her. Darby Valentine protects what’s his. No matter what the cost.

I love this series and Darby is my favorite Valentine. This was a good book with just enough drama you kept turning the pages to see if the tension building between Darby and Waylynn would pay off. I’m going to miss these boys, but this a a wonderful series.
4.50 Stars
I loved Darby’s story. Darby was sort of like the black sheep of the family. But that was in his teenage years. And when he sort of attacked a police officer and the officer didn’t arrest him, he took a different path. He changed his life, finished high school and now finished university, top of his class. His life was no longer the troubled teen, but for some reason his brothers didn’t see the new him. So when he told them he has a new job and they didn’t like that and he moved out.
Waylynn is a strong independent women who takes no nonsense from anyone, well except for her father. She couldn’t get a job now that she graduated. So she takes a job in Kilgore and living in her father’s house. And she gets to spend time with Darby Valentine, who she could never get along with. But for some reason now she can’t help spending time with him and getting to know the man. Before long they were spending all their time together and moving in together, and couldn’t get enough of each other.
I loved Darby’s story. When you first met him he was the definition of a bad boy. But now he was the one who would stop at nothing to be there for his family and take care of them, and proving to them that he has changed. Him and Waylynn together were so good for each other. They way they started was so natural, one minute they didn’t actually get along and the next minute they were a couple and it was so effortless. This book had little to no angst, no over the top drama. And the epilogue was so good, just sad that this series ended, but with this author, never say never
Get Bucked is the book 4 and the final installment in The Valentine Brothers series by Lani Lynn Vale. This is Waylynn and Darby’s story and can be read as a standalone read.
Darby is the youngest Valentine and due to the tragedy in his past, he acted out in his younger years. Now that he is older and more grounded, he isn’t who he was years before but people don’t want to see that and treat him as a huge screw-up. He has moved on and become a part-time bullfighter and a college Professor (yummy). But some don’t want to give him a chance…Waylynn is between a rock and a hard place when her father ends up messing her over, yet again. She has to scramble for a place to live, find a job, and do things that she doesn’t want but has to. Too much for one person to handle. Waylynn and Darby are frenemies who find they have more in common than they thought in this Frenemies to lovers romcom romance that is sweet, spicy, full of laughs, feels and that classic Lani Lynn Vale humor!! There are moments that will grab you and have you reaching for the Kleenex….this is family, friendship, sweet, chemistry, passion , excitement, action, romance and love romance read that will have you rooting on the HEA!
My Rating: 4.5 stars *********
I couldn’t have imagined a better way to wrap up the Valentine Boys series. With youngest of the boys, Darby was not what I expected. LLV already had the cards stacked up against him, but my heart broke for him as he tried, and tried, to get his brothers to see him in a newer light. Not that bad boy that he once was. Get Bucked is the final book in this series and it’s a bittersweet farewell.
You can’t help but respect Darby, he turned a potentially worse situation into a good one. He completely turned his life around for the better, but it has taken quite some time for his brothers to really see that. I love nothing more than when someone takes a stand for themself!
Waylynn was a very unique character and I loved the heck out of her. I was kind of hoping to see more of their time around each other in the past since they seem to have a little bit of history. But I loved their easy-going friendship and insane chemistry that turned into so much more.
I liked that Waylynn got to see the true side of Darby AND that she was on his side 100%. She had no problem standing up for him to his brothers.
Truly a great story from beginning to end, more on the slow burn side, but I devoured every single page. I’m sad to say farewell to this series, but I enjoyed getting to know this family a bit more.
**AN ARC WAS PROVIDED IN EXCHANGE FOR A REVIEW**
This rounded out an awesome series. I loved Waylynn and Darby together, their chemistry and storyline just kept me reading when I haven’t felt like reading. There’s not a bad guy in this and you love the side characters…especially Gibson. It’s already been said that she’s not doing anymore books in this series and that’s a shame because Gibson’s would be so interesting. I loved in this book how Waylynn never played hard to get. She was just a really sweet girl who needed someone to love her. Overall, this was a wonderful series.
So sad this series is endng. I love these characters so much. Hope to see them in future books as back ground characters.
Darby’s story is finally here! As the youngest Valentine boy, he has always been treated like a problem child by his siblings. He takes it because he was a problem child. Darby is all grown up now and hasn’t been in trouble in many years and Get Bucked gives readers Darby’s story!
I wasn’t sure how I would feel about Darby as a hero. However, he is wonderful! He has completely changed his life around and does all kinds of things for his family and never complains. It was great to finally see him take a stand! Waylynn is an interesting hero. She and Darby both attending the same college and had the same major (architectural engineering) so there was some bad blood between them. Darby was the top of the class and Waylynn can’t find a job. I love the hate to love you vibe between these two. It was very well written as a bit of competition and a bit of “I’ve been warned off you”.
As in the previous books, there is a great group of supporting characters. I really loved GQ and hope we get more of him! While Darby’s siblings are kind of jerks at the beginning of the story, I love the family dynamic and the deep bonds between the brothers. Get Bucked delivers a steamy romance and a family bonds story all in one!
Fans of Lani Lynn Vale will, of course, gobble up Get Bucked. If you are a fan of the hate to love you trope, I really think you should check Get Bucked out because its really well done!
I’m so happy to finally get Darby’s story!! Darby gets a bad rap for his past that no one sees him for who is now is, who is a great guy. The negativity that surrounds him cause of his past really gets to him cause he’s not that man anywhere, enter Waylynn (who I LOVE) and makes it her mission to see Darby as he is now
Another amazing read from Lani Lynn Vale!! A whole bunch of feels with this read. Darby and Way are awesome! Way is strong, smart, beautiful, and determined. Darby is much the same way. And their story is not one to overlook!!
A great book that is very well written with amazing characters and a fantastic storyline. One of my favorite reads this year!

This is the final Valentine brother to fall. It made me so happy to see how far Darby has come and reached many goals. One problem his family still sees him for the little hellion he used to be. The interactions between Darby and Waylynn were some of my favorites parts. Their banter had me flipping the pages to gobble up more of the book. This book had the humor that I love and look forward to. I’m sad to see the series end because it has a great cast of characters. A highlight for me is the epilogue because with everything this family has endured to see them living a HEA made my heart feel full. I would definitely recommend this book you won’t want to put it down
Darby is probably my favorite Valentine! He has shown the most growth and getting to see him get his HEA was everything I needed it to be!

Fun and sexy! Darby is seen as the screw up baby to his siblings, even though he has turned his life around and is a college graduate with a job lined up. Waylynn is the only one who truly sees the man he has become. Their relationship seemed to developed effortlessly once they gave into their attraction. I loved how protective they are of each other. Waylynn was total badass in having Darby’s back with his brothers. It was a great final chapter on the Valentine Boys and the epilogue puts a pretty bow on the whole series.
Short and oh so sweet, Darby finally gets it all and he gets it with an amazing woman.
We get to see glimpses of all the Valentines and the ending was fabulous.
I miss this series already! This is the last book of the series and it is about Darby Valentine finding love and his place in this world. The Valentine family has suffered a tragedy years ago and Darby, as an anger teenager, reacted badly and put his family in a lot of grief and trouble. Now, years later, he is a good guy, working in his family ranch and studying at University full time. In his mind, he has redeemed himself, but to his family (specially his brothers) it still has a way to go. In the middle of this he meets Waylynn, who had troubles in her family as well, but has a positive and strong attitude towards life.
Waylynn and Darby have a great relationship and support each other in great deal. The writing is very good, and the book is a wonderful farewell of the Valentine gang.
Love it!!
Get Bucked by Lani Lynn Vale is the fourth book in her Valentine Boys series. This is Darby’s story, the youngest brother, former bad kid with wrong crowd sort who has grown up, matured, corrected his bad behavior and lives for his family, until Waylynn shows back up in his life. With her around, the family might just come second to her.
Told in dual POV between Darby and Waylynn this books is well-written and well-paced and thankfully, unlike almost all other series I have read by Lani Lynn Vale, the Valentine boys series is low on the danger and life-threatening occurrences scale. There is still drama and emotional angst, just a little less life risk to it. It’s nice to see characters get their happy ending the somewhat easy way once in a while, not that I don’t also love the drama, the change is nice. Waylynn is a tough, take no crap warrior woman who can handle anything. Well, anything but spiders. And Darby is a total and complete sweetheart. Taken for granted by his brothers, working his behind off not only on the Valentine ranch but also at college, graduating and getting a job teaching at that same college, he is a hard working hunk of a man that also wrestles bulls at the rodeo in his not so much of it free time. I loved reading the stories of each of the Valentine boys and the epilogue was epic! Enjoy!
This whole series has been one if my all time favorites to read, so It was bitter sweet to read the final Valentine boy. But holy spit did Darby make sure this series ended in the best possible way. If you think you’ve seen the best these Valentine men have to offer, think again because you ain’t seen nothing yet!
Darby may have an a#$h*l3 reputation but in truth he’s grown into an incredible man. Caring, loyal, hardworking he’s all kinds of wonderful and it seems like most of his family is oblivious to that. But Waylynn see’s right through it all to the man Darby actually is. Even when these two are enemies she’s the first to really see him. The connection they share goes beyond just chemistry. They have that kind of connection that leads to the kind of love every romance reader dreams of.
5 He’s Not THAT Guy Anymore Stars!!
I’ve read and loved all the books in this series, but I can unequivocally say that Darby Valentine is my official favorite of these brothers! Why you ask? Because, he’s a man that like the rest of his family suffered an horrific tragedy and while he’s had his share of missteps in the recovery process, he’s the one that’s grown and matured the most in my opinion.
This is a boy turned man that at his lowest point had someone give him the “come to Jesus” talk which resulted in Darby focusing on moving forward. I loved how he stepped up and decided what he wanted to do and along the way, Waylynn enters his life again and while their beginning was very rocky, and hilarious at moments, it was life changing for both of them in so many ways!
I loved Waylynn so much! She’s sassy and sexy and determined to be more than what she was raised with. She also supports Darby in some of the most important ways and there’s some definite hurdles in their relationship. Because of how they were raised, their love is strong and sexy and can withstand anything. Even if it includes his family! One of the highlights for me in this book is Way’s time at The Apache Theater. Trust me when I tell you there’s a few lines that I snort laughed out loud and while continuing to read the book I’d think back to those scenes and chuckle again.
I’m somewhat sad to see this series end and I’m hoping we’ll get glimpses of them in future books. One thing I do know for sure is that I’ll be reading this series over and over again!
Get Bucked is the fourth book in The Valentine Boys series by Lani Lynn Vale. I’m sad that this is the end of the series, but I loved the Valentine brothers and hope maybe we get to see them again. We’ve been waiting for Darby’s story since the beginning. He’s been in the series and we’ve gotten glimpses of the man he is. He’s the baby of the family and his brothers still treat him like a kid. Yes, he got into a lot of trouble when he was younger but he’s not that person anymore. He went to college, worked for his brothers and busted his butt every day. They can’t see that he’s changed. He loves his family but needs the to understand he’s grown up. Waylynn can’t stand Darby. But he surprises her every time she sees him. Yes, he’s hot and sexy, but he’s also a good man. The attraction is crazy hot and after one taste of Waylynn, Darby isn’t going to let her go. Can Darby show his brothers he’s not the bad kid anymore? Will Waylynn find what’s she looking for in Darby and the Valentines? I loved Darby and Waylynn! I knew Darby’s story was going to be good and I thought Waylynn was perfect for him. They are fun and sexy together. I’m sad that they series ended but I loved these brothers and their women!
Here we are… with the fourth and last Valentine brothers book. Lani did a marvelous job with this book, she managed to crate a story both loving and a lot of fun. She also wrap up the story for the whole family and now I can definitely say that I’ll miss them so much.
Darby and Waylynn were made for each other and I was sooo happy with them supporting, caring and loving each other. Both of them went through difficult times in their lives, but I was glad they found each other. They deserved to be happy and respected.
The youngest Valentine, Darby, made so really bad decisions when younger and payed for those. With the past in the past, the older Darby is first in the family to graduate from college, does the work that no one in the family wants to do in the ranch and basically helps a lot with anyone he cares.
Now he got a teaching job and his family went mad and wild, saying bad things to him and even telling him to leave the house. I was vivid with the brothers and the wives! But I was happy with Darby when he lay out everything he felt to them, I had 100% his back!
Waylynn had a awful mom, but her dad? What a crap dude! He never cared about her and only talk to her to ask for something. She needed to fend for herself her whole life and she did an amazing job. She was strong, funny and smart. The way she handled the bank robbery? You go girl, show them what you got! And I could totally relate with her with her bug phobia, I cringed so hard but also laughed.
What I loved more about her was how she was always by Darby side. And she give the his brothers a piece of her mind that they clearly deserved. And after everything was done and in the clear she won not the love of her life in Darby but also a family who would help and protected her. What a treat!
I simply loved the epilogue it was the perfect closure. But I couldn’t help but laugh at how the “new” home never got completed always adding more rooms, even after 10 years! I’m going to miss them and so happy that I can reread whenever I want!
