Darby has always been ‘that’ guy.The guy that no man, woman, or child wants around their loved one.See, a long time ago he made some bad decisions. Those bad decisions have haunted him ever since. No matter what he does, people still see him as the town’s screw up. The boy that sold his soul to the Devil.Years later, he’s turned himself around. Made amends and ultimately turned into a generally … into a generally good guy. Only, it’s hard to act like a good guy when people still treat you like the old you, and not the new you.
Enter Waylynn Jennings.
Waylynn has watched Darby Valentine from afar for a very long time.
She’s witnessed the changes in him and knows the only reason he’s so mean is to protect the man that lies within. A battered, injured soul that deserves more than what he’s received. Even his own family takes him for granted.
She’s made it her new mission in life to prove to everyone that Darby isn’t the bad guy. That he’s a kind-hearted, sweet soul that’s just looking for a place to fit in.
Only, Darby is fairly sure that Waylynn is out to kill him, not help him. How else do you explain all the fights he’s having to break up on her behalf, or all the times he has to come to her rescue when she’s managed to put her cute little butt right in the middle of something where it shouldn’t be?
There’s obviously only one solution. He has to make her his. Then everyone will know not to mess with her. Darby Valentine protects what’s his. No matter what the cost.

I think Darby Valentine is one of my favorite cowboys ever! He used to be proverbial bad boy of Kilgore… and when I say bad, I mean baaaaaad! He was so bad that his brothers, the men who loved him most, didn’t expect him to be any better. Even when he had obviously changed, settling into being a man and leaving the bad behavior and actions behind, they were still waiting for the other shoe to drop. At first, their skepticism was something Darby could understand. He was that bad. However, when he went to school and graduated at the top of his class, proving he was much more than he was, he expected something to change. Maybe to receive the respect he never earned before? When he feels shortchanged because he wants more out of his life, he realizes that he needs to leave the family homestead.
I remembered Waylynn from a previous book in the series and I honestly thought, from my first impression of her, that this would be an enemies-to-lovers romance. But aside from a brief, slightly hostile beginning, she and Darby meshed like peanut butter and jelly. Their relationship was just so effortless. She came from an unorthodox upbringing and her father really deserved a box to his ears, but Way grew up to be brilliantly beautiful. I loved how sweet these two were together and their seamless chemistry easily made this a story to fall in love with. I keep saying… LLV stories are always winners!
I waited a long time for Lani Lynn Vale to release the Valentine series, and it was worth the wait. I’ve enjoyed this entire series, and these cowboys will always have a special place in my heart when it comes to Vale’s fictional East Texas world. Long time readers know the tragic history of the Valentine family, and Lani let that history fade to the background in this series, giving her readers the opportunity to see them heal and moving onto to their happily ever afters.
The final book in the series, Get Bucked is Darby Valentine’s story. A notorious bad-boy in his younger years, Darby has since turned it around. He’s gotten an education, he carries his weight at the family’s ranch, and he works alongside his brother, Banks, on the rodeo circuit. Waylynn Jennings is the daughter of a bull rider and although she and Darby weren’t exactly friends, she’s been watching Darby for years as he grew from the rebellious teenager he once was into the responsible man he’s since become. She’s sees him so clearly, and she can’t understand why no one else can, so when Darby needs a place to land, she’s the one who offers it to him. I loved everything about this couple and their sweet, tender frenemies-to-lovers relationship. These two were absolutely perfect for each other, and I was rooting for them the whole way.
Get Bucked was an emotionally charged, sweet and sexy finale to what was arguably Vale’s most highly anticipated series. I loved everything about Darby and Waylynn. They were absolutely perfect for each other, and their sweet and sexy frenemies-to-lovers relationship kept me rooting for them the whole way. Five smooches from me for Get Bucked by Lani Lynn Vale!

Darby and Way are the perfect end to this new series. I loved the Valentine boys and was so happy to finally have all their stories after meeting them I their sister Georgia’s book.
Darby and Way are the perfect pair, I laughed so much with these two. You have to go read this book and series if you haven’t yet, you won’t be disappointed.
As I said before these valentines boys comes a long way especially Darby. He was the troubled youth who didn’t know where he was going, but he turn it around and made an amazing recovery, and having Waylynn in his corner make it that much better, I enjoyed this book very much and well done Author Lani Lynn Vale.
Darby..Darby..Darby… Wow, he showed so much growth. We all know what his life has been like and how much of a “bad boy” he was. He has matured and has grown into a beautiful man. In enters Waylynn and his world gets rocked again, but in a good way. He soon discovers his views on relationships is not what he thought it was. Darby and Waylynn are perfect together. They both have difficulties but it was wonderfully cute to see them navigate through it all together and support one another. Their connection is undeniable and their chemistry is palpable.
I loved everything about this series. Sad that it has to end but glad I got to go on this journey with all the Valentine Boys and their other halves.
Book 4 in Valentine Boys series by Lani Lynn Vale
Darby is the youngest Valentine boy and has been the most troublesome.
Darby finished university and worked on Valentine farm but also work rodeo circuit as a bullfighter that protects the riders.
Darby juggles a lot in a day but once he qualifies he wants to be more independence and to live his life more. Unfortunately the older Valentines don’t support him very well.
Waylynn is a daughter of a bullfighter and hasn’t had greatest childhood. She was abused but being ignored can be just as bad. Somehow the fit perfectly together and I love that Waylynn protects the big sexy cowboy even though he doesn’t think he needs it.
Absolutely love this story it’s hilarious quite a few times I laugh out load especially with the lines like “a peacock is a chicken in drag”.
Gutted this series is over but definitely checking out more books by this writer.
Darby & Waylynn were super cute together. Loved how they supported one another through difficult times & how wild they enjoyed gettin’ down in that trailer.
Darby… He was such a stud-muffin sweetheart. Serious but playful, professional but with his own cowboy twist, stoic & sexy… Baby Valentine had ALL of the good stuff goin’ on for him. And I loved how he’s the favorite Uncle!
Waylynn… Dang, I felt bad for how her dad treated her. Talk about giving her the brush off time & time again… 🙁 Thank gods for her sparkling, relatable personality, her persistence & her relationship with Darby! She is so great at dishin’ sh*t right back at him & I adore that.
So happy the Valentine boys have their happily ever afters! I wish some of the other farmhands got theirs too but I’m thankful for the ones we got out on the ranch!!
There are four Valentine brothers each with their own story. This is the last book about the youngest
brother Darby. The previous books in this series are as good as this read and take you on a journey
that is heart breaking. hope filled and shows the individuality of each brother. Darby, a former
bad boy turned his life around. Waylynn and Darby’s first interaction back in Kilgore is very funny and shows him just how capable she can be. They attended the same college and both graduated
with BS degrees. Darby, is taken with Waylynn from the start and looks after her. I like the way
Ms. Vale shows both points of view. This is a great series and is highly recommended. Enjoy the
Valentine brothers a wonderful story of love and survival.
Finally Darby’s story. I was pleasantly surprised with how his story went and I loved every minute. These two were wonderful characters and I couldn’t get enough of their story!
Great ending to a great series! This book hooked me from the very beginning. I read it in one sitting, I didnt want to put it down. I was happy to see Darby and Waylynn get their happily ever after. Loved that there was no dragged out unnecessary drama. My only complaint would be that I wanted a longer book! Then again I would read a 700 page Lani book without complaint!! I would definitely recommend this book.
Received an arc for an honest review
Darby Valentine has made his disdain for relationships known. He has a chip on his shoulder and has spent his time focusing on college and getting his degree, now he is ready to take the next step in his career while helping out at his family farm. What he doesn’t need is Waylynn Jennings following him around, but the woman he had written off as irritating surprises him at every turn. When his family pisses him off though, Darby finds himself hanging out with Waylynn is becoming more important then anything else in his life, which scares him to death.
This was a big surprise, I was not expecting Darby to be the man he turned out to be and he is far exceeds expectations. Waylynn is a breathe of fresh air and I kept thinking of Annie Oakley when imagining her character. Another fantastic read by this talented author.
Oh Darby! I have been craving his book since we met him in Nico and Geroigas book. I wanted to see the bad boy get his HEA. I knew he could be a really amazing guy the moment we met him. Boy was I not let down. My heart broke for him though. With how everyone treated him, except for Waylynn . I love that she was really head strong and was on his side from the start. There was a little drama but for the most part it was really laid back. The banter was great; I loved seeing the past characters and even meeting new ones. This entire book was a perfect ending to this series. 5 stars #2OCCJD
Darby Valentine and Waylynn Jennings’ story brings us to the end of The Valentine Boys series, and Lani Lynn Vale saved the best for last. I had no idea just how much I would love Darby, but he definitely ended up being my favorite Valentine!
Darby may have been a troublemaker growing up, but since then he’s worked damn hard to get his life back on track from the trainwreck that it was. Now, he’s the quiet one in the background, always doing the ranch chores no one likes, keeping Bank’s safe by being the bull fighter to his bull rider all while putting himself through school and graduating from college. The only problem is that his brothers never seemed to notice just how different he is as a grown man than he was as a troubled teen.
WayLynn has watched Darby for a long time and has seen just how much he has changed for the better. And, she’s made it her mission to make sure that others see those changes too. Always pushed aside, first by her mother who left her with an absentee father, Waylynn knows what it’s like to feel alone. She’s going to make darn sure that Darby knows he has someone in his corner no matter what . . . her.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Valentine brothers book without some family and small town drama, some very stubborn men and the women who love and manipulate them for their own good. And, Darby’s story was definitely very high on drama and stubbornness!
Waylynn and Darby are so sweet and perfect together. She is so feisty and I adore that she is willing to jump to Darby’s defense no matter what . . . even if she is defending him from his own family that still sees him as the troublemaker he was all those years ago.
While I’m sad to see this story end, because I loved every minute of it, Get Bucked left me feeling completely happy as a reader. I loved the look into the future for the Valentine’s. What a family and what a series! These siblings all deserved their happy ever afters, and I thank Lani Lynn Vale for giving their stories to us! 5 stars!
The final Valentine brother falls! Darby has tested and pushed the boundaries since childhood after what happened, but thanks to Nico he was able to turn his life around and has become the first one in the family to graduate college. Waylynn knows Darby from growing up in the rodeo circuit, and isn’t a fan of him because of his reputation. This pair end up coming together after graduating college, and the pivotal point in their lives ends up being exactly where they need each other. Darby has a hard time with his family because they still see him as a child making irresponsible decisions, even though he’s proven himself tenfold. On the other side, Waylynn has had issues with her parents her entire childhood. While she loves her parents, they aren’t the parental type, and it really borderlines neglect. These two show the others the value in each other as well as their worth, and I love how fiercely protective they are of each other. It was such a great ending to this series, and while I wish we would get Darby’s best friend’s story, hopefully it will be in the cards down the road.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Well now, I think it’s a four way tie when it comes to these Valentine Boys!!
Darby always came across as a bit of a wildcard, the youngest of the brothers, the one they all expect to mess things up and the one they still treat like the ‘little brother’ even though he’s grown up…
Darby met Waylynn through her dad who he worked with on the Rodeo circuit. This pair were like oil and water, or so they’d have you think!!!
Forced together and away from home they come to depend on each other and find that they are more than suited and actually really like each other.
The support they each get from the other makes them see things that relate to their family in a different light and give them someone to lean on, to trust and to see a potential future with.
We caught up with the rest of the Valentine brothers and their respective ladies and while I’m sad that this series in now at an end, I loved the way things closed down for these cowboys!
I hate to say goodbye but what am ending to go out on!
Save the best for last in my opinion. With having gotten so many looks into who Darby was or used to be just gave me more excitement to read his story. There had to be more to him. And boy was there!!
Once I noticed Waylynn come into the story in book 3 at the end, I was hoping she was gonna be in Darby’s book! I just had that feeling with how they didn’t really like each other but secretly they did. It was too perfect!
I hate to see all the Valentine’s leave but I am so happy o got to read them!
4⃣.5⃣
recommendation
Can I just say I love Lani Lynn Vale!! Darby – the youngest of the Valentine boys, a troublemaker, a screwup. Waylynn – the daughter of a rodeo man who took Darby under his wing. LLV bringing them together, well this book is funny, sweet, hot & sexy. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this reading their story. You definitely want to make sure to read this!
4 Stars!!
Having read the rest of the books in the series I couldn’t wait for the fourth one to be released! I’ve been so excited for Darby’s book and I had to pick up his story right away! I loved jumping back into this world! I couldn’t put it down once I started it and had to finish it one sitting. I enjoyed this story so very much!
Waylynn and Darby’s journey was such a fantastic one! I can’t even begin to tell you how happy I was to finally get into Darby’s mind! He stole my heart and so did Waylynn! These two kept me grinning and feeling it ALL throughout. I really connected with both of them and I found myself wishing I could hug them through my kindle.
The Valentine Boys series has left it’s mark on my heart and I’ll never forget these characters.
Ms.Vale has created another awesome read filled with so much heart! These Valentine Boys and their loves brought me so many smiles and made me feel all kinds of emotions with every installment.
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Wildfire Marketing Solutions / the author*
After reading the first three books, I was looking forward to getting to know Darby a little bit more. Unfortunately, I started and stopped for the first 30%, I don’t know if I was just not feeling the couple or what. But halfway through the storyline picked up and I was liking it more.
Darby was always getting into trouble as a teen and that is how everyone sees him now as an adult. Until Waylynn comes back into his life and sees Darby as a great guy who puts others before himself. Waylynn has pretty much has taken care of herself all of her life except for when she sees a spider. Darby and Way balance each other in ways both need the other.
Sad to see the series end but fingers are crossed for a spin-off in the future.
Lani Lynn Vale once again slays this series with Get Bucked! I adored Darby and Waylynn and seeing the protectiveness from BOTH characters was a breath of fresh air for me! Not only was Darby a fierce protector, by Waylynn did anything in her power for Darby’s character to shine as well. Gah! It was so cute!
Not only were the characters in here fiercely protective of one another, but the story portrayed some amazing character growth in both Darby and Waylynn. Both have walls up because of their pasts (this is especially true for Darby who has redeemed himself immensely). I love that Lani Lynn Vale made her characters strong enough to overcome things that some may not have been able to. Now, don’t get me wrong this isn’t the kind of book that will give you those angsty and emotional feels. This book is FUNNY. But her characters are well developed and realistic.
If you’re looking for a book to read this one should be at the top of your list! I’ve loved this series to pieces and recommend each and every one of them.
