Darby has always been ‘that’ guy.The guy that no man, woman, or child wants around their loved one.See, a long time ago he made some bad decisions. Those bad decisions have haunted him ever since. No matter what he does, people still see him as the town’s screw up. The boy that sold his soul to the Devil.Years later, he’s turned himself around. Made amends and ultimately turned into a generally … into a generally good guy. Only, it’s hard to act like a good guy when people still treat you like the old you, and not the new you.
Enter Waylynn Jennings.
Waylynn has watched Darby Valentine from afar for a very long time.
She’s witnessed the changes in him and knows the only reason he’s so mean is to protect the man that lies within. A battered, injured soul that deserves more than what he’s received. Even his own family takes him for granted.
She’s made it her new mission in life to prove to everyone that Darby isn’t the bad guy. That he’s a kind-hearted, sweet soul that’s just looking for a place to fit in.
Only, Darby is fairly sure that Waylynn is out to kill him, not help him. How else do you explain all the fights he’s having to break up on her behalf, or all the times he has to come to her rescue when she’s managed to put her cute little butt right in the middle of something where it shouldn’t be?
There’s obviously only one solution. He has to make her his. Then everyone will know not to mess with her. Darby Valentine protects what’s his. No matter what the cost.

All good things must come to an end, and with this book “Get Bucked”, Lani Lynn Vale’s The Valentine Boys Series is finished. I for one, have loved each and every book and fallen head over chaps for Ace, Callum, Banks and last but certainly not least Darby. As with all of the books in this series, the stories are filled with sexy cowboy goodness and spunky female sass. Darby and Waylynn are insanely attracted to one another. He’s protective of her and looks out for her in every way possible and she see’s him for the good, reliable, dedicated man that he is. They don’t fight their attraction to one another but give into it and let it grow. Watching them fall hard and fast for each other makes this an enjoyable happily ever after read. A fitting end to a fantastic series. TBR and enjoy.
Emotion-packed series finale…
I’m not ready for this series to be over. Not one little bit. The ‘boys’ were very different, each with their individual issues and strengths. And sets of chaps… If it had to end, Darby and Waylynn’s story struck the exact right note to leave it on.
Trauma and tragedy marked all the Valentine brothers and Darby was the last the find his even footing. He’d spent much of his distant past reacting to the event that robbed them of all of so much. Turning that around, the last years were all about hard work. Every step was one more in shaking off all the bad deeds and replacing them with things he, and his family, could be proud of. Too bad his family didn’t see it that way…
Waylynn was a strong woman who rolled with the punches. If Darby was surrounded by family, the little she had were ones she didn’t need. Or deserve. What she did have was a knack to make the best of every situation. When she strolled into Darby’s life it was quietly, not giving a hint at the impact she was going to have…
I loved these characters. Straight up, I fell hard. They started as friends and through humour and shared experiences, forged their own path. Did they notice how they defended each other fiercely? Quietly read and acted on what the other really needed, in the moments that counted the most? I think, like every other thing about these two, they simply did what needed to be done… And fell in love along the way, with me right beside them…
If you’ve read this author you won’t be surprised at the laugh out loud moments side by side with the many pings to the heart. Sizzling steam, complicated family and some new characters to spice it up even more meant a story that was way too short…

What a lovely way to end the series.
I was really looking forward to Darby’s, he’s changed so much from the first time you see him i Georgia and Nico’s book, he’s one of those characters that you get to watch grow into a better person as the time goes.
Waylynn and Darby was so cute together.
Considering she didn’t like him at one point but it’s hard to hate a Valentine boy for long.
I wasn’t overly keen on some of the characters in this one but hey i was suppose to.
I look forward to see what else LLV has up her sleeve.
When the boy grows into a man but your family doesn’t realize, that is the predicament Darby is confronted with. Get Bucked gives us this reformed bad boys story and one I have been waiting for with such expectations and anticipation. I was not disappointed, I was absolutely mesmerized by Darby and Waylynn. This was a story of growth, revelations, family and finding your heart in both life and love. A story that wound its way around my heart, deep under my skin and owning my soul. Darby and Waylynn made me laugh, swoon and at times had my heart hurting right along with them. A story that gives us a complete ending to a family that has held our hearts for such a long time.
Darby the bad boy turned good… Waylynn quickly finds herself falling for bad boy Darby even after being sworn off rodeo men by her dad. This is a fun, quirky love story! Like always Lani creates characters that you can relate to, they have their flaws but they are lovable and entertaining. Her stories are real, you can get so involved the emotions the characters feel, you feel right along with them… a mark of a great writer. A great series and another wonderful book, Darby might just be my favourite Valentine!

Waylynn Molly Jennings and Darby Alexander Valentine seem to come together in this story in a round about, sort of accidental manner. They knew each other slightly, or about each other, through the bull-riding circuit as well as through college. They were what you’d call friends though!
Honestly, I have had a soft spot for Darby throughout all of this series. Yes, I know he went through a rebellious time when he was younger but he’s grown up now and still being treated like a child by his brothers. He might not have been able to trust fully, due to his past once upon a time, but he has proven himself and with Waylynn he is different.
Waylynn hasn’t exactly had it easy growing up with having to do a lot more for herself than most children would be expected to do in all areas. This though meant she became a strong, independent woman who didn’t take rubbish from anyone. I really liked her character a lot.
This light story was travelling along with some fun banter and humorous scenes, sure there were some deeper issues involved as well, when all of a sudden, Bam! Things changed and the excitement and action ramped up with a feeling of nervous anticipation.
This was a great ending to a fun series although I sincerely hope we do get to hear Gibson’s story one day.

Another great story by Miss Vale! I loved this story from beginning to end! I had to read it in one sitting because it was that amazing!
Get Bucked is a sweet, and fun, yet bittersweet story in that it is the fourth and final title in the Valentine Boys series.
Darby is the youngest Valentine brother, and in his teenage years he was young and reckless, but he’s paid his dues and turned into a responsible adult. Unfortunately his brother’s struggle to see just how much he’s changed. He’s kind, caring, compassionate, loyal and incredibly hard working.
Waylynn sees just how far Darby has come, and not only accepts him for who he is but encourages him to see his own worth. She’s strong, independent and not afraid to tell it like it is.
As with all the Valentine Boys books, this pair have undeniable chemistry and strong themes of family and friendship flow throughout, with Lani Lynn Vale’s signature blend of heat, heart and humor.
4 Star Review Get Bucked (The Valentine Brothers #4) by Lani Lynn Vale
We all make mistakes and sometimes those mistakes follow you throughout life, no matter how hard you try to overcome them. That is the position that Darby Valentine finds himself in. No matter how hard he tries to prove he has changed, the people of his hometown refuse to see him other than the bad guy who made stupid and costly mistakes.
Waylynn Jennings knows that Darby has changed and is determined to make the townsfolk see how far he has come, no matter the cost. Waylynn and Darby have a complicated history in this enemies to lovers story.
Both have family issues and if they can only break down one another’s barriers, these two may have a chance to forge a path together. Despite their differences, both know that the other is always there for them and I loved this part of their relationship.
The writing was strong, even though this is not my favourite book from this series and it was great to see what other members of the family are up too.

What a way to end the Valentine Boys series! First, this is the last of a four book spin off, so obviously read the previous ones first. Second, notice I said the words spin off? That’s right this is a spin off that stems from Nico and Georgia’s story in the SWAT series (I talked all about this in my review of Ace and Codie’s story). We know the horrific story of the Valentine’s background, we also know that Darby had a very hard time adjusting and that the family had to really push him to get him to straighten up. Well, he did just that; Darby has busted his behind to get where he is now, but it’s never enough for anyone. Waylynn sees just how good a man Darby is, and when he needed a place to land, she was the one that helped him out. Now the two are exploring something more, but can someone that pushes people away and that doesn’t see potential in himself really open up to something more?
I have so many feels right now! Happy, excited, sad, mad, disgusted… god you name it this book had me feeling it. I am a bit sad that the series is now done, but I feel that Darby and Way were such a nice way for this series to go out! This journey to get to the end was amazing, and gets 5 stars!

The fourth and final instalment in the Valentine brothers’ series belongs to Darby. We saw way back in Nico and Georgia’s book that Darby was a terrible, angry teen and although he hasn’t been in trouble for years and is now an educated adult with a degree no less, he is understandably sick and tired of his brothers treating him like a child.
When Waylynn, the daughter of one of Darby’s fellow bullfighters and someone Darby graduated with, moves to town permanently, Darby is both annoyed and happy about it. He has longed for Waylynn for a long time but she also annoys him in the way she seems to hate him. Waylynn is frustrated with a few things. The father that bought an extremely run down house then decided he wasn’t moving in, the fact that she’s struggling so bad to get a job despite getting her degree, and the annoyingly gorgeous man that for as long as she has known him on the rodeo circuit has purely been a love ’em and leave ’em kind of guy. Needs must though and one moment of needing a favour turns into much more between the two and it couldn’t happen at a better time… when the Valentine family seems to be falling apart. Will the brothers ever resolve their differences or will it just be Darby and Waylynn alone going forward?
What a brilliant end to this mini series. I wanted the brothers’ stories since I read Nico and Georgia’s years ago and I’m so glad Lani went back and gave us them. I thought that this was a perfect wrap up to the Valentine brothers and I give Get Bucked 5 stars.
This was such a fun series despite some heavy topic matter. I love the Valentine Boys so much but I think Darby is my absolute favorite. I love a good enemies to lovers story with a whole lotta chemistry. WayLynn is absolutely a perfect match for Darby. I love how fiercely she stood up for Darby to his family and the part where she saved the bank from the would be robber was probably one of my favorite parts. WayLynn is one bad a$& woman.
**I was graciously provided a free advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for my fair and honest review.**
Get Bucked is a totally fun book to read. I dare you not to fall in love with Darby Valentine by the end of book, it is nearly impossible!!
Darby may have been troubled in his youth, honestly with happened to his family it is easy to understand, but the young man he has turned into is very easy to like. Graduating college, securing his own jobs, still working for his brothers, and helping out around town whenever he is asked. Darby has become a responsible adult and yet his family has a hard time letting go of the troubled kid he used to be. Even when Darby is hurting and angry he still won’t let those he loves down. He is seriously loyal which makes him impossible not to love.
Waylynn does not come from a large family and her upbringing, on the road with her father, wasn’t exactly stable, but like Darby, she too is fiercely loyal and has sass for days. The two of them are evenly matched which is initially why they butt heads and stay away from one another, but eventually their attraction becomes too much and their chemistry explodes. Waylynn is there for Darby when his family isn’t and she is the only one who seems to be in his corner letting him know how amazing he really is and when Waylynn eventually needs someone in her corner he is right there too.
Darby has to be my favorite Valentine and I’m really glad he is the final one to round out this series. You’ll love all the updates Lani has included if you’re a fan or if this is your first rodeo, you’ll have no trouble jumping in and enjoying the Valentine family.
Such a bittersweet finale to the Valentine family. I’ve been obsessed with them since Georgia and Nico’s book. Sad to see it end, but it ended spectacularly!
Darby has had it worse than any of the other brothers in my opinion. He was youngest and got into a lot of bad shit as a kid, even though he’s turned around his brothers still treat him as a little kid. I love the man Darby turned into! Waylynn was just the person Darby needed in his corner. She didn’t fawn over him, she gave it to him straight while also being in his corner always. I loved her!
Get Bucked has all the things. From high emotions to friendships to sweet romance. Waylynn and Darby’s story is one I’ll read again and again.
