Georgia Clay is Book 1 in the Southern Promises Series from author KG Fletcher. This is my first read from this author and now will not be my last. I can’t wait to see what this author brings to the rest of the series and her other books.
This author writing style was captivating, easy flowing and easy to read. She has created some wonderful characters that are real, relatable and very lovable.
This book takes you on a rollercoaster of emotion and has me feeling all the feels. I loved reading the journey the characters Clay & Katie make as they rediscover each other again after a night of chatting. Their relationship grows from strength to strength. It was wonderful to watch these two getting to know each other again and go even further this time.
I loved the element of music entwined into the story and how much of an impact it has on the characters and their lives. I was on the edge of my seat for most of this read continually routing for them that they get somewhere with their long distance relationship, but you also cannot ignore the twists and turns that are also entwined. But with that being said I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this read.
We cannot forget to mention the secondary characters that come into this read. They just help make this read even better, and they help bring out our main characters and compliment them as a whole. I also loved that it was written into dual POV’s it really gave me an insight into each character, what they really are thinking and feeling. It also helped me understand the character even more and gave me a side to them that makes you like them even more.
I cannot wait to see what goes on in I the rest of the series. This is an incredibly captivating and compelling read that should not be missed, I highly recommend it!
Georgia Clay (Southern Promises Book 1) By K.G. Fletcher I LOVED this book. I read it in one sitting. The story of Katie Parker a independent single business woman and “Georgia Clay” a famous Nashville song writer, is a romantic, sexy, fun story. They met in high school 10 years ago when Clay moved to their town for his Senior year. Katie was nice to him when no one else really was. He has crushed on her since then. Katie remember Clay singing a song at the talent show and knew he would go on to do great things. Fast forward to their 10 year High School reunion and they literally run into each other and sparks fly! They become inseparable except for the fact he lives in Nashville and she lives in Atlanta. Can they make a long distance romance work? Katie didn’t realize Clay was as famous as he is and doesn’t know if she can live with that. Read Georgia Clay to find out if they can make it work! Can’t wait for the next book!
Georgia Clay is a sweet love story. I actually read book two in this series first, they can be read as stand alones. Clay is a singer/songwriter and Katie is the girl he crushed on way back in school. I think it’s so cute they met back up at a reunion and that she affected him in such a big way. He is such a southern gentleman and I love how they’re all in with each other. There’s something brave about taking a big chance on love, especially when you don’t live in the same town. I enjoyed their story.
Georgia Clay (Southern Promises Book 1)

5 out of 5 stars
The story Georgia Clay (Southern Promises Book 1) by K.G. Fletcher is a contemporary romance book. This is a story that once I started I just didn’t want to put down. There is plenty of heat, steam, and romance that has the temperature in the room quickly rising. I loved the plot/storyline and also the main characters of Clay and Katie. Clay is a man that is handsome and attractive. He knows how to play, sing, and write music. He is good at what he does and has plenty of awards to his name. The one thing that he hasn’t had is a real relationship. Now he finds himself with a second chance to get the attention of the girl that he always had a crush on but never told. Katie is a woman who has worked hard to get to where she is with her career. She is strong, independent, and on her way to the top. Then she and Clay reconnect. The attraction between these two set in quickly and the chemistry is undeniable. The sparks/electricity is there in full force. They both find that it is easy to talk to one another. Clay has had chances to take his career further however never has. Could Katie be the one to give him the courage to take a chance? Is she his muse? What does the future hold for both Katie and Clay? Will they find happiness together? Read this book to find out. I so loved reading about Clay and Katie and the feelings they have for each other. It gave me a heartwarming feeling and had my emotions on a rollercoaster. You can’t help but feel that Clay and Katie are meant for each other. There are a few other characters that you are introduced to in the book and I enjoyed reading about them as they interacted with Clay and Katie. This is an amazing story that will tug at your heart strings. It is a book I would highly recommend reading.
Georgia Clay is the first book in the Southern Promises series by KG Fletcher, and it is a contemporary romance novel. The story is about a young woman whose name is Katie Parker, and a young man whose name is Clay Watkins. The two reunite unexpectedly at their high school 10 year class reunion which is held in Atlanta, Georgia, when Katie literally runs into Clay when she is coming out of the restroom. Katie is an insurance executive and she works late almost every day, and on weekends and holidays, and she hasn’t taken a vacation day in years because she really loves her job. Clay is now known as “Georgia Clay” Watkins because he now lives and works in Nashville as a song writer, and he has written many hit songs for some famous country music artists. Clay has also won a Grammy Award for one of his songs, as well as several different country music awards.
When Clay and Katie look up after their unexpected run in, they appear to be happy to see each other. Clay has had a huge crush on Katie since their senior year in high school because she was one of the few people who were kind and welcoming to him, since it was his first year at the school. Katie remembers Clay as a shy and quiet guy, who was kind of tall and skinny. But she also remembers that at the high school talent show held in the spring, that Clay got up on the stage and blew her and everyone away with his amazing singing voice.
After they recognize each other in the hall of the hotel where the reunion is being held, Clay asks Katie if he can buy her a drink and they head to the bar. Katie cannot believe how much Clay has changed, since he is now broad shouldered, muscular, and very good looking. Clay thinks that Katie is even more beautiful than she was in high school. They decide to leave the reunion to go get something to eat, and end up getting fast food and eating in the back of Clay’s pick-up truck. Clay and Katie are not big talkers, but Katie is impressed by the fact that Clay is a true southern gentleman. He drives them to a secluded spot down near the river that Katie has never seen before, and they end up having a romantic evening together, and Clay even gets up the nerve to kiss Katie. They end up talking and kissing until the middle of the night, and then fall asleep in each other’s arms, waking up early to catch the beautiful sunrise. The couple end up spending the whole day together, until Clay has to leave to drive back to Nashville. Will they end up seeing each other again since they now live four hours away from one another?
I really liked this book by KG Fletcher. I love how she helps us to get to know these main characters on an intimate level, helping the reader to see what good people they are, and pulling for them to get together. I also enjoyed the other characters that we meet along the way. You can tell that Ms. Fletcher knows Nashville and Atlanta, describing these places in great detail through out the book, which helps the reader to see these places in our minds. This is a wonderful romance novel that I loved reading and I am looking forward to reading the second book in this series.
Un-put-down-able
First book from this author for me and I think I have stumbled upon a brilliant series. Loved the writing, the characters, the setting and the story line. The story didn’t get caught up on too much angst and just moved along at a nice pace. The maturity of the characters wasn’t compromised to create unnecessary drama – it was fairly straightforward and real. Once I started I was sucked right in and didn’t want to leave. Romance, country music and southern hospitality. Really loved Clay and Katie and hope that we get insights into their life in future books.
Georgia Clay: Southern Promises Book One written by KG Fletcher. Georgia Clay is a cute friends to lovers story full of nice intimate scenes and very entertaining friendships (Stacy). As Katie and Clay start up a conversation at their high school reunion it quickly brings back memories and feelings from High school. There are definitely going to ups and downs in this story but with two committed adults working hard for their goals it’s hard to not focus on your career and consider how your choices affect others. I am looking forward to book two in the series
Each book in the series is a standalone. Georgia Clay, Georgia On My Mind, Georgia Pine
Distance does make the heart grow fonder her, and Katie and Clay prove that.People from separate worlds fighting a pull they can’t ignore. KG Fletcher shows us yet again that music is truly a connection no matter what world you’re from.
Katie and Clay are high school crush Reunited at a high school reunion. It gives all the good feels of a chemistry they can’t deny and a love that was meant to whether 16 or 26.
Georgia Clay (Southern Promises Book One) by KG Fletcher was a great read! This was a quick and sweet read. Also very steamy so definitely an 18+ book. I loved reading Clay and Katie’s story. They fit together so perfectly! I’ve actually been wanting to read this book and this series for awhile so I’m glad I finally got a chance to and I wasn’t disappointed! By the way this ended I’m pretty sure it’s a stand a long book and series and I can’t wait to read the next installment of this series.
This book pulls you in right from the start with super relatable characters who attend the dreaded 10-year high school reunion. I mean who hasn’t had nightmares about that thing and the way Ms. Fletcher draws you back into your own memories through the character descriptions and obvious high school cliques. So, when a chance encounter happens between Katie and Clay, the irresistible pull draws them closer together.
What starts with a simple admission from Clay about having a crush on Katie since high school turns into a full-blown fling. Will it be a one-time thing, or can Clay go against his ideas about having a long-distance relationship? Can Katie come to terms with promises made or risk the career she worked so hard for? This is a must-read romance book perfect for summer reading on the beach. The characters are incredibly relatable, and it’s hard not to want to find out what will happen between Katie and Clay!
Oh my stars!! Georgia Clay is such a sweet romantic story! It will draw you in from the beginning, it sure did me! I’m such a hopeless romantic who loves a great HEA too! Being the first in it’s series it is quiet the perfect southern love story! I LOVED the book oh so much. I fell in love with the characters and the author’s smooth writing style. Was just awed with Katie and Clay’s story it was light and fun, it definitely had its share of steam too. First time read from this author, and am so excited to read the next book in this series!
5/5 Stars
Georgia Clay (Southern Promises Book 1) by KG Fletcher
This is another fantastic read by Fletcher. This story had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. You’ll fall in love with Georgia Clay and Katie.
Katie is loving her career filled life. Never one to take time off. She goes to her high school reunion and finds herself with Clay Watkins. One thing leads to another and she is falling hard. The quote I chose Katie is: “I can’t believe it’s happening. I’m finally traveling and it’s not for work.”
Clay is a big up and coming music writer. He’s penned some great songs big name artists have sung. Going to the ten year reunion was just what he needed. The quote I chose for Clay is: “I know it’s selfish of me, but I really just wanted to hang out with you for a little longer before I head back to Nashville. I’m not ready to say goodbye to you, Katie Parker.”
Highly recommended for Contemporary Romance lovers.
Georgia Clay by KG Fletcher is the first book in the Southern Promises series. I really enjoyed reading the story of a romance between a country music writer and a career-minded woman. The two seem an unlikely pair but it develops from a long night of talking to a long-distance romance. Can Georgia Clay and Katie Parker make their differences work? I liked these characters because they are not just young, beautiful, and talented but still have a realness to them. There are struggles and moments of being unsure but the two matches each other well. I read through this quickly and did not want to put it down until I finished the story. I appreciate the author putting so much of herself into the book with her knowledge of the music business in Nashville to create a realistic and engaging read. I look forward to where this series goes next and reading more from this author soon.
Admittedly, I do not prefer country music. However, if I had a high school crush that wrote songs about me… I probably would! This book had me from the beginning. I LOVE both Katie and Clay. They are perfect for each other! The ending almost had me in tears… You could FEEL the emotions coming off the page and swirling around inside you. <3
Side note, the author has a disclaimer at the beginning of the book that it is intended for an 18 and older reader. I appreciated their consideration for other readers in doing that.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I was hooked. Clay is a Nashville country song writer and Katie is a workaholic who has climbed the corporate ladder one rung at a time. Their paths cross after 10 years at their high school reunion. It is fireworks from the beginning, but with their different lives, can they make things work? They both have to make some touch decisions. It was a cute love story and the characters jumped off the pages for me.
Katie Parker is running late for her ten year class reunion. She hates being late, but she doesn’t let that spoil her fun when her best friend Stacey is reunited with her old boyfriend, Brent. Stacey wants her to finally meet someone, so that Katie has a life outside of her work. Katie has become a workaholic since graduating from college which has put her at the top in the insurance business.
Clay Watkins is known as “Georgia Clay” in Nashville. His songwriting career has taken off, and he’s written several number one hits. He attends the same class reunion as Katie. He had only attended Lakeview High School during his senior year, Katie has made his time bearable by being kind. She didn’t know it then, but he has always had a crush on her.
Literally bumping into Clay as she came out of the restroom, Katie is tongue-tied for the first time in her life. What is it about those gorgeous caramel colored eyes that makes her weak in the knees? After a sweet and romantic night by the river, these two people are enamored with one another. But Clay lives in Nashville, TN, and Katie lives in Atlanta, GA. That’s a four hour drive on a reasonable day. Can they make the distance work?
I loved this book! I found myself crying, smiling, and cheering as Katie and Clay connect and face many challenges in their budding long-distance relationship. They had amazing chemistry; not just physically, but emotionally too. This story is well written and well paced with relatable characters. I found it extremely hard to put down. This was the first book I have read by KG Fletcher, but it won’t be my last!
This book is a perfect romance, Clay sees his high school crush Katie at their school reunion years later, they both realise there is still a spark between them and you find out that Katie also had the hots for Clay back in high school. After realising this they both decided to have a weekend full of hot sex, but a weekend is not going to be enough for them and they live miles apart due to career paths. Can they make it work? or will Clay have to sacrifice his job in songwriting that he worked so hard for finally spending his life with the one he loves.
If you see me running away to Nashville to fall in love don’t question why! This book was the ideal romance. From the beginning that brings Clay and Katie together in a simple and flawless way, to the very end where EVERYTHING works out. There were a couple of times the author had me ready to throw my phone against the wall thinking that everything was going to go wrong. Of course with the hanging suspense it made the book all the better. The romance, the sexual tension, the southern boy, the family connections made this book phenomenal. Watching Katie and Clay come together and get their happy ending was honestly so fun!! I cannot wait for sequel. I would love to follow Heart or Katie and Clay in the future.
It’s the 10 year reunion for Katie and Clay. Crushes are revealed and a wonderful night is spent getting reacquainted. Sparks fly and chemistry sparks, these two have something there. Steamy romantic moments abound by the river, at the lake and throughout the story. I love the friendship they have. I found myself laughing at some of the escapades. Katie’s friends always seemed to drop in at the wrong time. Best ending I loved. The best part of the book is that it felt like it could have been from anyone’s life. Annoying friends, long distance relationships, hard choices, these are ell things we often have to deal with. The author just infused them with some humor to make it a great story.
