But … her voice wrap around me like a lover’s caress.
But this isn’t that type of story.
And I’m sure as hell not that kind of man.

** spoiler alert ** I enjoyed this book very much. I liked the setting and the story line. Trey was a love to hate him character that started to grow on you with the turn of each page, and all of the females in the book were likeable and brought a different personality and point of view to the main characters story. It was fun to read and had you wanting to know what was going to come next for Trey and Raven, or what encounter or scuffle they were going to get into. They had fun banter and towards the end had you rooting for them in every way. I was kind of bummed that Raven gave in so quickly in the end and didn’t make Try work for it a little harder and sweat it out to get her back after the way he treated her, but it was still a sweet and loving ending. It was a happily ever after with a twist and I liked it very much!
* 2.5 Stars *
Gent by Harloe Rae is a contemporary, enemies to lovers romance. What can I say? It wasn’t my favorite; and I’ve been dragging my feet on posting a review. As an avid reader, I appreciate the hard work that authors put into writing, editing, and rewriting their books. So, I’m always a bit bummed when I end up not loving what I’ve read.
Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes, so I was really looking forward to this story. Unfortunately, I felt that it rather fell flat. I had difficulty connecting with both lead characters as there seemed to be a lack of depth not only in the characters themselves but also in their relationship to one another.
Insta-love doesn’t make sense in this trope, but that’s almost the way it came across. Raven’s behavior concerning Trey just didn’t ring true. He acts like such an a-hole and she just keeps on chasing after him. Eventually, we learn why he behaves this way and he does end up changing how he treats her. For me, it just felt like it was all too late. It wasn’t a bad book. It was just ok.
* I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. *
This is my first Harloe Rae book and it was so good, enjoyed Raven and Trey’s story very much! Will be reading more from this author.
Trey is the biggest jerk in his small town, he is a one night stand only and lets get real he give no snuggle to the plentiful women he goes through. Everyone’s know all about everyone’s business in this small town and gossip is always running amuck.
Raven is the new chick in town she is moving in with her college best friend and coffee shop owner Delilah, who is grew up with Trey. Her first advice don’t even mess with Trey . Raven can’t resist Trey and his say it like it is mouth, and it offers to enlighten her with fun the naked kind.
I loved Trey I thought his attitude and straight up no filter made him the perfect arrogrant a$$ . Raven was a little to forgiving brush it under the rug for me. She was so persistent and a bit of a push over. This was an ideal don’t know what you got till its gone read. I am really looking forward to the other characters stories.
This is not your average, sweet contemporary love romance…it is a smoking hot, sexy man trying to never have emotional ties to a single person but not let anyone know the answer of why…until along comes a beauty that is going to take him for an honest to sexiness ride of his life. This book is a hot, emotional rollercoaster…enjoy!!!

~~ 4.5 DIRTY MECHANIC STARS!~~
I absolutely loved GENT! This was my first book by the incredibly talented Harloe Rae but will not be my last!
This sinfully sexy enemies to lovers story had a broody, dirty-talking, cocky a-hole hero who meets his match in a sweet, blonde haired, blue eyed baker who storms into his town and runs roughshod over his impossibly jaded heart!
Who doesn’t love an emotionally-charged redemption story filled with drama, heat, heartfluttery feels, oodles of sexual tension and awesome character development?
Omg! Trey was something else! So surly and sullen, still harboring a truckload of grief from a devastating past tragedy, this hardworking mechanic holds people—especially the ladies—at arms length out of self-preservation. But this gorgeous grump is about to learn some mighty big lessons in life and love courtesy of a beautiful girl named Raven who sees through his asshat attitude to the man worthy of love!
Sighhhh! These two had an insta magnetic attraction that never let up! Their rapid fire banter just sparkled like “Princess’s” sapphire blue eyes and the soul deep bond that blossoms between these two adorably feisty lovers just gave me delicious butterflies in my belly! And the sex scenes were hawt!
Ms. Rae’s writing was fanfreakingtastic and oh so wildly addictive and I also loved the gossipy small town setting and the colorful cast of side characters! And the HEA? Oh so swoon-worthy!
Highly recommend!
Oh wow. So if you go in judging a book by a cover? Wow, boy does the cover deliver! Heck the words flow out so good, and pulled me in it was like sitting inside my book with these characters. Everything just seemed to slowly come alive. From the raw emotion coming from both Trey and Raven and the stuff they both seemed to be holding back.
I love how much Raven with out even knowing this man is completely drawn to him, and wants to be his friend. There connection just seeps through the words no matter how much there denying it or trying to push at eachother.
I really liked all the build ups and every direction the story seems to go.
Trey, is a true asshole holy moly that man is just crude and mean and so hurtful. But there’s just something that makes you want to break through all of that!
Raven, well she honestly is sweet beyond words. And she seems so naive, but theres so much hiding under her that seems hidden and strong!
The humor, it may just be me but I laughed so hard at some of the parts! Oh gosh, it was so good.
Harloe does it again with this steamy ready. Trey and Raven are so fun to ready about. Hooked from the beginning. All I can say is wow.
What can I say about Gent? This book is wickedly enticing, sexy and just plain amazing. Trey and Raven are the perfect enemies to lovers story. Trey is a gruff, ornery cuss, and Raven is a spitfire sweetheart. Together their push and shove, their tiptoeing to the brink of love, retreating and the back again, their easy and sweet affection… it all just makes this book that much more gripping and page-turning.
I can’t tell you whether I love fighting Trey and Raven or lovey-dovey Trey and Raven more. They’re both equally fun to read. And they both show a side to Trey and Raven that we don’t see them display with others. Being together lures them both into different worlds, the worlds they’ve been fighting because of past traumas. But when they give in, their passion is explosive.
But as fun and as sexy as this book is, it’s also emotional. So emotional and angsty and it got me all torn up.
I love this book. It’s got a little bit of everything and kept me interested from beginning to end. And I can’t wait for more from the secondary characters!!
Happy Reading!

Reviewed on behalf of The Book Boyfriend Addict. A complimentary copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.
“This is me, Princess. Flaws and all. I’ve warned you off enough, and time is up. Accept me as is or get fucking lost.”
Raven is a strong woman knowing that she wants something better for herself than what her mother showed her with the string of boyfriends never finding real love. Having decided to move to her college roommate’s small town to be a baker the last thing she is looking for is a relationship. However, when she goes to take a seat at the bar she is immediately offended by the resident playboy/jerk. Rather than writing him off there is something she see’s in him that makes her want to befriend him.
Trey is sexy and a jerk, he isn’t looking for anything other than working and a hot night in the sheets with women passing through town. That is until he meets Raven and even though he leaves her thinking there is nothing about her he likes he just can’t get her out of his mind no matter how much he wants to.
“Yeah, because of you. First person to come along that saw me and wanted different for me. Not sure why with how I was treating you. Damn lucky you didn’t give up on me.”
Raven and Trey were both strong, passionate and relatable characters. Even though Trey felt the way he did about relationships his reasoning was understandable and it made your heart hurt for him. I really loved how strong of a heroine Raven was, no mater what Trey dished out she stood right up to him and put him in his place. When the time came to really stand her ground to not change who she wants to fundamentally be she really shined where so many people would back down.
The struggles and pleasures they experienced could very well be you or me and Harloe did a wonderful job of making her characters so real that I felt fully vested in what was going to happen. I’ve been lucky enough to read everything Harloe Rae has written since her debut book Redefining Us and I am really glad that she’s kept writing because I honestly think this is her best book to date! So, I highly recommend checking not only this but her other books as well!
“I want all the fluff and mush. With you, only and always. No one gets this from me except you,” I whisper. “I’ll never share this part of me with another person. Just you, Raven.”
There is not other word to describe GENT than PERFECTION! Rae write the perfect balance of angst, alpha-male, steamy romance that makes my book loving heart yearning for more!
Trey is a certified prick. From first introduction you can tell that he has not tolerance for anyone on other than himself, and everyone is happy to leave him to it, well that is until Raven shows up. There is something about him that keeps drawing her back. No matter how hard he pushes, she keeps offering out the olive branch of friendship. It doesn’t hurt that he is sinfully delicious and makes her lady bits tingle.
Raven has been looking for a place to call home all her life, for some reason she finds it in this tiny town with the resident grump. Trey and Raven have instant love hate relationship. They can’t be in the same room with each other without fighting, but those fights always lead to incredible sex. However, where there’s sex feelings are soon too follow and what these two are soon to learn is that they are more a like that either thought.
GENT is an enemies to lovers story with a little bit of fate thrown in. This is not your typical story, but it will get your blood pumping and learning for me! A one-click read for sure.
Harloe Rae was a new author for me so wasn’t quite sure what to expect; So pleased to report that “Gent” was a very enjoyable endeavour indeed.
So first the characters portrayed here were in their early twenties; And while I usually prefer an older Hero as my go-to age choice; I also do enjoy the occasional New Adult book.
So this is an enemies to lovers romance.
The H Trey is a complete tool; like a major obnoxious, rude, opinionated man-whore with a ginormous chip on his shoulder.
The h Raven is his complete opposite in personality always willing to see the best in people.
Open, friendly and a complete sweetheart.
When Raven arrives in this small town after college to work at her friends business; Trey and Raven’s paths collide with epic fallout.
From day one Trey makes it his mission in life to alienate Raven; while in return she tries to reach out to him; extending an olive branch.
Both have similar life experiences but have ultimately coped in completely different ways, and it was quite apparent from the start that Trey was hiding behind his gruff rude-boy persona.
A shield erected to protect his heart from future wounds.
So I loved this story; it was simplistic and fun; A sexy hot read with your classic misunderstood Hero.
This wasn’t any major plot shocks here, and it was slightly predictable in places, but that really didn’t bother me as what we do get is still a lovely warm read; that was so easy to get lost and swept up in.
It was told in dual POV and had the added bonus of a great supporting cast.
I can definitely see future stories emerging from there.
This also had a sweet and romantic HEA and is your classic Girl saves boy from himself.
So “Gent” was great; I found it to be a very positive experience and if you like New Adult Contemporary romances this one is definitely well written.
Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC of “Gent” of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
Trey and Raven
This was a wonderful example that when the right person comes along your whole world can change.
Trey is a dirty talking, one night wham bam maybe thank a you man. He is not interested in getting to know you and only promises one thing a fabulously sexy one night.
Raven , she is a woman on a mission . Move to a new town , wow them with her baking skills and maybe have a bit of fun . She doesn’t expect to run into the nasty rude Trey at a local bar . They are at each other from the moment they meet. She knows he is a jerk but she pushes him and figures sooner or later he will crack . Neither one expects to be pulled in and oh my word are they sizzling once they start !
Loved the beautiful sweet Raven and the dirty, naughty hidden Trey!

Loved this book
Trey seems like a cocky guy. He knows he’s good looking and will swoop down and scoop up any girl that’s offering him some goodies. He does what he wants and doesn’t care who is in the way. But he’s an asshole that doesn’t want to let people to close. He really is written to be smexy. Raven is the girl that walks into his life and just won’t go away. Trey cant seem to shake her. She can hold her own against this irresistible smart yet dirty mouthed man. She is such a caring person. It’s like you know she is gonna end up getting hurt. They actually become friends with benefits. Poor Raven ends up letting her heart get the best of her. We all know where that leads us. Will the 2 be doomed to never be together or will Trey get his head out of his butt and finally stake his claim on a girl? Over all I enjoyed this book and the characters. Harloe Rae has just earned a new fan. – By Mandi
4.5 stars. TALK DIRTY TO ME! (Sounds like a song from the 90s) Get ready for dirty, dirty, delicious Trey! What a great character in all his grumpy hotness and macho protectiveness. He is panty melting and a hero beyond compare. But he met his match in feisty Raven, the new beauty in town. Their banter is terrific and led to some steamy chemistry and more. My eyes were sweating! The writing and storyline are fantastic. I loved the small town locale and familiarity between the hometown characters. And speaking of characters…Delilah and Addison are wonderful. I so hope they get their own stories. Don’t miss this steamy romance! It’s worth the read. Love the beautiful cover!
Trey was one hot hero. He had that jerk appeal that I am drawn too, but he also had a side that was just reserved for the heroine and I loved that the most. The banter between Trey and Raven was off the charts hot, funny, and all sound heart opening. This author had the ability to start off fast and keep the momentum of the story going and I never felt board. I wanted to keep reading with each page I turned because I was invested. The drama was very short lived. Sometimes as a reader I want that. I want the issues to deep and soul breaking, but then I want them to get their HEA fast. She did that. Now, I am already thinking of at least 3 characters that I want to see their stories to play out, so hopefully we will get those. Jack is giving me the most craving. 4 stars #2OCCJD
Whew! *fans self* This steamy, steamy gem is jam packed w/ a lot of story! Raven rolls into town & immediately flips bad-boy Trey right on his ear. He doesn’t know what to think, but he doesn’t like it. He’s growly & standoffish, but still manages quite a lot of great banter!
Their relationship starts off both hot & heavy & a bit of a slow burn. How this is possible, I do not know, but it’s some really great writing! For the most part, I really enjoyed them together, and although there is a break, it’s not really a breakup. And the end & epilogue are both stellar!
This is on my recommended reading list for sure!! : )
Harloe Rae is such an AWESOME author! Seriously you cannot go wrong with anything she writes. Also, with every book she releases, my love of her words grows. Gent is by far my favorite book she has written, and its also her very best work to date! This small town, enemies to lover’s romance is sure to have you swooning! The story revolves around arrogant asshole Trent and sweet & sassy Raven and is PACKED with steam and sizzle… but alas, I will say no more about the plot, you’ll have to read the blurb for that.
In the meantime, I would love to tell you a bit about why I loved Harloe Rae’s Gent! First, this plot was deep and beautiful. It was also a tear-jerking emotional rollercoaster! I would be crying one moment and then super turned on in the next breath. When I started reading this one, I had no idea that the story would be as consuming as it in fact was. I was completely captivated. It’s very well written, and very unpredictable… well, right down to the HEA, but that’s a given in most romance novels! I love the way Harloe does romance because her books are hotter then HAWT!!! Trent and Raven literally throw enough sparks to start a forest fire – their chemistry is overwhelming at times, for the reader and for themselves. BUT, that being said, the hero in this one is no gentleman by any stretch of the imagination and that’s why I loved him. Trent is that is that hero that is his own worst enemy. This ‘hero’ is the most ungentlemanly of heroes… because Trent is a straight up asshole, but you will still fall all over yourself for him. Hell, I am willing to bet you would be fighting each other on your way to your knees!! And let’s be real, who doesn’t love the asshole heroes!?!! I love that Gent is told in duel perspectives because with this story, it’s more Trent’s story than it is Raven’s… but we need that connection to them both and getting it will make this book successful!! Harloe Rae has a gift with storytelling.
There is sooo much more to Gent than just the plot or the heat, not that either is deniable! Harloe Rae also writes incredible characters! Trent and Raven are my favorites, yes, that’s undeniable. But it’s because of who they are together that the sparks and the chemistry work and the ultimate stroke of sheer genius takes place. Diverse individuals such as Trent and Raven don’t happen with every romance and it’s the combination that sold me on this duo and made the HEA believable. As much as they are opposite individuals, they are in sync and similar in ways I didn’t expect. Ultimately, you’ll have to read Gent to find out just what I mean. Also, let’s just be real… Raven will never be anyone’s asshole. And Trent will never be inexperienced!!! I just mean that she has this feminineness to her that is at complete odds with Trent’s alpha male. And like I mentioned, while his experience is at odds with her inexperience, they find the perfect balance to complement each other’s every nuance perfectly. Sparks fly when they speak… and their banter is out right hilarious at times. Overall, this book is absolutely a five-star read, and I sincerely hope that we get to see Trent and Raven again… you know, if Harloe Rae writes a story about either Addy or Delilah – the secondary characters that really stood out to me in Gent.
Every time I get a chance to read a book by Harloe Rae, I jump at it! She is definitely a “One Click” author for me!
Gent is the story of Raven and Trey, and at first Trey is nowhere near a Gent.
Raven is the perfect heroine, she is trying hard to start a new life and planting some roots in a new town. She is a baker, a cupcake aficionado and she comes up with a clever name for one of her spectacular creations.
Trey is a self proclaimed manwhore, with walls so thick and impenetrable that he is the town’s curmudgeon. He likes it that way, or so he thinks. His flirting game is on point and he has the swagger and arrogance to know it. He doesn’t go for the “fluffy” stuff, or so he says again and again.
Trey and Raven’s chemistry knows no bounds! When they decide to try a sorta friends with definite benefits, well those benefits were off the charts! The verbal game between them is blushingly good! Sexy, steamy and swoony!
And oh how Trey finally finds his “fluffy” feelings for Raven, oh how his words will make you swoon! He is still him at his most basic but with him in touch with his feelings for Raven is just the sprinkles on top of a beautifully crafted cupcake!
The secondary characters are fantastic and I am hoping that Harloe deems us fans worthy of more stories from them, I am dying to know more! Thank you for your words and your stories Harloe! I cannot wait to see what comes next!!
