Garrison Kopp, former FBI, stepped away from that jog to be closer to his family. His marriage failed and he was distant to his son Aiden. Aiden is addicted to pain killers and alcohol and needs help. Aiden’s friend, Matty, gets a package from his father to deliver. On his way home he stops at a party and with police raiding the party, he hides the package in the trunk of his friends car. A cabin retreat for Garrison and Aiden, a frantic search for the car to find the package by several unsavory people. This is a great story line that takes you in different directions that meet in the end. A exciting and heart pounding conclusion.
I loved this book for so many reasons. There are many layers to the plot beginning with a father dealing with a son who has an addiction. Few families today are exempt from this and I felt this showed the challenges of wanting to trust his child and dealing with the lies that the son tells. This did a good job of showing both the tough love and the difficult decisions to be made. Another plot line deals with the threats and danger experienced as a result of the poor decisions made by another teen. Again, this story line is filled with wonderful and complex characters and attention to detail as the plot unfolds. This is the 3rd book in the series and can be read alone but, I enjoyed having characters from the previous books show up again. Once you begin, you will be hard pressed to put it down and you will be thinking about it long after you finish it.
Romantic suspense with a foreign twist! Greed and privilege lead the riff raff in this third book in the series; loyalty, honor and love fight back. This was Koop and Sam’s story, though they shared the spotlight with other well developed characters. Family was shown in all it’s facets – rock solid and those emerging from shaky ground. These ingredients baked up a page turning hit story.
Garrison has a problem with his addictive son. Then there is his son’s friend who has problems with his father that eventually puts the 3 adults & 2 teenagers in jeopardy of being killed. There is a mystery, too, about what someone wants back. It’s quite the mystery that is not revealed till close to the end. I don’t agree that it is a Christian book, however. I received an ARC. This is my voluntary, honest opinion.
Nutfield seems to Garrison Koop like a safe to take his son Aiden after his drug’s abuse. He ask Sam for a place to stay and for help to find a rehabilitation place for Aiden. But while they will struggle with Aiden’s addiction they will get involved in a very dangerous situation and they will face their past’s demons in order to survive. You can’t put the book down until the end.
I keep waiting for the action to die down and this series to get boring or repetitive but it doesn’t happen. We are now told the story of Aiden’s addiction and battles and how they draw in and bring him and his father closer but jeopardize lives and more. When Garrison takes Aiden away from home and Sam helps they have no idea what they are in for because nothing is simple with this group of friends. And friends they are, helping supporting and sharing.
Another great story in the series. Yes they are standalones but they are so much more. They can be read out of order but don’t. Enjoy them from the beginning and meet each of the characters and how they came to be. You will be glad you did. Awesome series that just keeps getting better.
