From the outside, self-described computer programming geek Blake Moss is a straight, happy-go-lucky partner in the rising gay matchmaking company, Match Made. On the inside, the facade he’s built since a traumatic breakup nearly a decade ago is starting to crack.Hunter Schultz, former football jock, is still licking his wounds only months after walking out on his incompatible boyfriend, Robert. … boyfriend, Robert. Devotion to his job as head of the city’s LGBTQ+ youth center helps him make it through the rough patches.
The CinderFella charity auction sponsored by Match Made and benefiting the youth center brings Blake and Hunter together in an unexpected way. After a last-minute confession from Blake, his boss, Daniel, buys him a date with Hunter.
Blake is terrified, and Hunter is intrigued by the quirky man who’s fascinated by old dance music and science fiction TV. Against all expectations, the future looks like it might be bright until Robert’s jealousy intervenes, and Blake’s anxiety flares.
Geeked is a 53,000-word gay romance. It’s the second book in the Matchmakers series. The book includes steamy scenes, dancing ducks, disco, and cheesy sci-fi, plus a guaranteed happy ending.

Good guy karma eventually triumphs!
Take two super nice, upstanding guys, lots of supportive friends and colleagues but stunted relations with their parents. Mix in a troublemaker ex and shake. Result: medium angst, sweet and romantic walks, rapid bonding and happy endings. I liked the first book in the series better, and I found the ex-boyfriend’s about-face bewildering, but it’s a happy romance and well-written. Hunter and Blake’s eventual encounters with their parents gave the story an interesting twist.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Geeked is the second book in the Matchmakers series by author Declan Rhodes. This book is written in dual pov. I loved this one, geeky romances are right up my alley.
Blake he is nervous, adorably awkward, the software wrangler for Match Me a gay match making business. He is kind and really sweet.
Hunter he is a protective personality. He takes care of his grandparents. Does a lot of volunteer work. He can talk to almost anyone about anything. I love his heart and soul truly beautiful character.
These two are perfect for each other. They just have to get over their own personal hang-ups. When you want a story to make you believe true love is real, I highly recommend this one.
Five Shooting Stars
I absolutely loved this book! The characters are wonderful and so real. They both have relationship baggage and need to work through them to be together. I could not stop reading! I highly recommend.
A Geek and Jock kinda story!
Blake who thinks of himself as plain and geeky. A computer software Wrangler for a matchmaking company called Match Made. Hunter is the head of an LGBTQ+ youth center in the community.
A story about two adorable men who had been burned before. Blake hasn’t been in a relationship since his last breakup ten years ago. He has been busy, he said. Hunter’s recent ex is just too negative that it shadows all the good things about him.
This story is sweet and explores possibilities of romance in our society currently. It tells us the wariness of each person when face with a possibility of a new relationship and how they navigate all the negativity they experienced in previous ones in order to find their compatible partners.
This tale is light with a lot of sweet quirkiness, if you can imagine a geek/nerd meeting a jock-type all-around sexy good guy, then this is the story.
I enjoyed this story but didn’t love it! I felt Hunter could have told his ex to not so politely move on a bit more forcefully once he and Blake got together.
The concept and idea is great but it was very low angst. I admit i hadn’t read the first book so not sure how it related but this was an enjoyable quick easy read.
Blake has extricated himself from a horrible relationship. Unfortunately it left him feeling horrible about himself and unable to trust many people. Working as a programmer for a gay dating site, he has the opportunity to see other men find love, and develop strong relationships. During the course of a charity event, he meets and is immediately attracted to Hunter, who runs an LGBTQ center. Blake’s boss bids on Hunter at a charity auction and ‘gives’ him to Blake!
Ex boyfriends, poor self esteem, supportive friends, and a sweet a15 year old are all instrumental in bringing the two together…though it’s a little rocky at times!
I’m new to Matchmakers series, so I can assure you that this second book in the series can be read as a standalone. The story about how Hunter and Blake got together is witty and funny. After self-worth doubts arose and led to misunderstandings that almost got them apart, they found each other again with some help from their friends. An HEA is guaranteed!! Even if all finished well (the epilogue is sweet and emotional, loved it!) in some chapters the book really got to me, making me cry and frustrated me because all the miscommunication getting on, until I just wanted to make them talk frankly with each other. Amazing reading!
I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
Hunter and Blake may just be the cutest couple to come out of Declan Rhodes’ imagination. These two are just so darned adorable, both together and separate. Both of these guys are a little gunshy after some bad relationship experiences, so they’re on fairly even footing when it comes to those early romance nerves. These guys kept me smiling the whole way through. Well, almost the whole way. We do have that required bit of angst to test the relationship, but in keeping with the lighthearted tone, it’s quickly resolved and even the make-up scene is a combo of sexy and too darn cute. Geeked is a great addition to the series, and Rhodes has set the bar high for his next couple in Matchmakers world.
The storyline was well written and the characters, Blake and Hunter, were very likable and engaging which kept me totally glued to my kindle until the turn of the very last page!
4.75 stars! Blake’s past has completely overshadowed his present. Afraid of even trying to connect with a man his best friend winning him a date with Hunter and it all starts to change. There is a lot of shaky attempts and false starts as they begin their relationship. Blake lacks self-esteem and Hunter has his own issues with feeling abandoned. I liked Hunter’s persistence with Blake. The way Blake’s view of them as a couple changed once he accepted that Hunter loved him was wonderful. The ending left me smiling. I really enjoyed the side characters and hope to see Charlie and Daniel get their own stories.
This is a sweet romance between Blake and Hunter. The author once again brings strong , likable characters , gives them a strong connection and attraction and shows happiness can be found when you give yourself a chance and trust each other. It’s an entertaining story with all the feel good emotions, moves quickly and smoothly and I enjoyed reading.

Blake is adorable. At several points in the story I wished I could have covered him in buble wrap and protect him from any possible harm,be it physical or emotional. Also,he has Hunter in his life now.
Their romance is so sweet. Both Blake and Hunter are the kind of good men that are so nice to get to know and make you cheer for their happiness. I liked how much their knowing each other helped them to get stronger,to take steps in bettering their own lives, and then the lives of others.
Geeked is one of those books you read with a smile on your face and leave you with a warm feeling of joy.
I love that Declan’s books always have such a strong theme of family – either born or found. Both Hunter and Blake had allowed a lack of communication lead to an estrangement with their parents. While Blake’s parents could be said to have simply left him to bring things up, in his own time, their silence over the debacle of George left him feeling isolated by them. On Hunter’s side, while he had stopped talking to them, it also sounded like they had stopped even trying – and it sounded like Hunter would have accepted any overture, at any time, directly from them.
I’m glad that so much good was able to happen, during the course of this story, both for Blake and Hunter personally, but also for so many other characters in this book through the center that Hunter manages.
Finally, I’m very curious about who Daniel is going to end up with, and if it’s going to be a new relationship, or a second chance.
