This was such a fun collection of stories. It was a great way to start my holiday listening. I enjoyed every one of these stories. Each story was unique. I also like how each one had an epilogue so we knew what happened next. The narration was well done and enjoyed this book collection very much.
Delightful bundle of holiday cheer (an audio review)
I’m not even sure where to start with my review. I have to say I’m known as a bit of a Scrooge when it comes to Christmas – getting together with family is okay, but the rest of it? Not interested. Of course, this year is different and I’d do anything to have a normal Christmas. Ah well, not to be. All that being said, I headed into this collection with high expectations because I have yet to listen to a Keira Andrews book I didn’t love and Kirt Graves is a fave of mine as well. I believe this is their first collab and I hope it won’t be their last. Kirt does great narration and this series of novellas worked with his voice. That being said, he missed a couple of pronunciations because he’s not Canadian, but only a Canadian would catch the mistakes.
Which leads me into the first thing, aside from Kirt, that I really loved about these books. They are all unapologetically set in Canada. I’m a proud Canadian who loves reading books that are set in Canada (and other countries as well, to be sure, but Canuck all the way). I also love that not every book centers around the Christian Christmas. There was variety in the stories and their approaches from the devoutly religious to the barely mentioned. A little something for everyone. For instance, in Eight Nights in December, I learned a lot about Hanukkah and Jewish traditions – things I knew almost nothing about. I also got a sexy story about two young men struggling to figure out what they want and discovering that it’s each other.
In Case of Emergency was a lovely story about two men who were barely stepbrothers a bunch of years ago but who come together when one is injured and needs help. Who knew being a klutz could lead to meeting up again with the man of your dreams? And who knew connecting with someone from your past would enable a profound understanding of who you are fundamentally? And how powerful acceptance can really be.
Then there’s Santa Daddy. Hunter is newly graduated from university but has been unable to find a real paying job in Toronto. He comes home, north of the city, and lands the job as an elf to the hottest mall Santa he’s ever encountered. Nick might be attracted to the new elf in town, but this Santa is grumpy and solitary for good reason. Only when Hunter invades Nick’s Christmas Tree Farm do fun times ensue. Nick gets to play Daddy to a very naughty Hunter. But with Hunter heading back to the city in the New Year, is a happy ending possible? Of course, there’s Toys, Turkeys, and Trees. Maybe grumpy Santa can come back into the light and away from the darkness of grief once and for all.
Finally the collection is rounded out with Where the Lovelight Gleams. Ryan has been in love with his co-star Cary for as long as they’ve known each other. Ryan home heads to Canada for Christmas to escape the Hollywood insanity, only to find Cary following him. Cary (named after Cary Grant) claims he also wants to get away from the pressure, and Ryan’s off-handed offer of a Christmas in a little cabin in Muskoka is the perfect solution. (I’ve stayed in a similar cabin in Muskoka and can tell you some of those places are tight quarters.) Somehow the two men find a way to connect in a way they never have before, and suddenly Ryan is questioning whether Cary is as straight as he portrays himself. Cary comes from a long line of Hollywood royalty and if news got out that he was bisexual, it’d be a disaster, right? Well, yeah, maybe Cary is willing to risk everything for Ryan. Just quickly – this story is told entirely from Ryan’s point of view while the other stories in the collection are split POVs.
Well, writing that review was pretty easy because I enjoyed the trip down memory lane. Each story was unique and added just the perfect cheer to this dreary holiday season. So well done Ms. Andrews and Mr. Graves. I look forward to more collabs in the future.
Gay Holiday Collection is four steamy holiday reads by author Keira Andrews. Each story has a different holiday theme which I really liked. I also like the sizzle in these stories. The following is the publisher’s blurbs and the titles included:
Eight Nights in December
Orphaned Lucas figures spending Hanukkah with his obnoxious roommate’s family in New York City is better than staying alone on campus upstate. He ends up sharing a room again, this time with his roommate’s brother. Geeky photographer Nate isn’t at all what Lucas expects. My favorite out of the four is the Eight Nights in December. I love a good Hanukkah story. This one is sweet and very much embraces the Hanukkah traditions. I loved that they are explained to me too. Made me feel so connected not only to the characters but the holiday itself.
Lucas is a shy guy. He has lost his dad. He has no where to go for the holidays. His disheveled and disorganized jock roommate is going home. Sam’s mom drags Lucas with them.
Lucas ends up rooming with Sam’s geeky shy brother Nate. And well they more than hit it off.
I loved how they grew in this story. They start out with testing the waters so to speak, then they form a real solid start to a relationship.
Their connection can really be felt. Which made this story my favorite.
Overall each book brings its own flavor and style to this collection. I loved it. I would definitely pick up more from this author in the future.
Five Shooting Stars
Eight Nights in December: 4 stars.
When Lucas spends the holidays with his obnoxious roommate’s family, he is as surprised as anyone that Sam’s little brother and he have that spark that we all search for. But Nate’s not exactly out to his family and Lucas is going back to classes, so how is a relationship between the two feasible?
I really liked this one, mostly because Lucas is adorable.

In Case of Emergency: 4 stars.
Daniel’s not exactly thrilled to receive a phone call from the hospital that his former stepbrother, Cole, is in the hospital and in need of someone to come take him home and make sure his concussion does not get worse. Daniel hasn’t seen or talked to Cole in years, so why did Cole put him down as his emergency contact? Perhaps because Cole’s crushed on his older former stepbrother for as long as he can remember?
This one is sweet and super steamy. The perfect holiday read.
——————————————————————————-
Santa Daddy: 4 stars.
Hunter is back home for the holidays and trying to find a “real” job. The only thing he can get so far, though, is playing elf to the grumpy Santa his old boss has finagled into being jolly one last time before the mall closes forever.
I’m the first to admit I’m not into the whole Daddy/Little thing, so this one wasn’t really my kinda story. But aside from the Daddy thing, the rest of the story is pretty good, especially the way Hunter and Nick realize how they feel about each other.

Where the Lovelight Gleams: 4 stars.
When Cary actually takes Ryan up on his offer to spend the holidays with Ryan’s family, Ryan has no idea how Cary has been pining for him. But he’ll soon find out!
I loved this one. It’s really sweet, definitely steamy, and the two are great together.

If you like your holiday romances with lots of heat and heart to spare, this is the perfect box set for you.
This is chock full of amazing holiday themed romances that are sure to entertain you!! I enjoyed reading each and every one. All the stories are heartwarming, sweet and sexy romances that are so good!!! You can’t go wrong with this book and I highly recommend to all!!! This will definitely put you in the holiday spirit!
Both sweet and steamy: the guys get their perfect holiday treat!
Some great pairings, and I loved that rather than all Christmas stories, the first story is set during a Hannukah celebration. I think that story was probably my favorite. With minimal angst, many supportive side characters, secret longings brought to light and steamy clinches that, for me, were just the right length, this is a fun collection. The romance is balanced by cozy times with family with all of the trappings of the season.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the collection; this is my voluntary and honest review.
This collection is wonderful!! Sweet love stories well suited for these Holidays. I cannot choose what is better!!! All of them are easy to read, full of romance, hot scenes and some low angst situations even if in some of them, like In Case of Emergency and Santa Daddy I cried a little bit. Also, Santa Daddy has a light Daddy/boy kink really well managed by Ms Andrews. Wonderful reading!!
I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
