Have you ever wondered what happens to two souls destined for each other before they even meet? Well, this is it…Gavin had believed himself untouchable. There wasn’t an inch of his body that hadn’t been taught to eliminate any threat, both to himself and others, as a Navy SEAL. Not only had he been trained to be a warrior, but a strategist who could accomplish any mission that he was given…… that he was given…
Until the day he was blindsided by a brother with his own agenda and was forced to accept that everything he had believed in had been an illusion.
An illusion that he was capable of love.
An illusion of the woman who had kept him sane during his darkest days.
An illusion that The Last Riders would always have his back.
Now he was being forced to accept the man they had created. A man who didn’t care about anything or anyone, living a life without reason, joy, or peace. A soul so broken that it couldn’t be fixed, searching for the one reason to keep himself breathing.
How was he supposed to know it was a song?

Gavin’s Song can be confusing if you are a beginner to the Last Rider’s series. If you’ve already read the series Gavin is Viper’s brother who was dead and now his mysterious disappearence has a heart breaking story.
This is a Motorcycle Club romance. Gavin’s Song is an introduction to Gavin and Evangeline’s past. The first book of Road To Salvation trilogy has no romance, it’s about the ten hell years Gavin spent and Evangeline getting chased by dangerous people who wants her dead. This book is sad, dangerous and torturous. I suggest reading the Last Riders series for better enjoyment but if you feel overwhelmed by seeing many books read Viper’s Run, Rider’s Revenge, Lucky’s Choice.
‘Life wasn’t fair. It was like a river that was just there—no rhyme or reason. It didn’t have feelings, didn’t care that every living thing needed it to survive, yet it would share its wealth or be as stingy as a miser. It could turn on you indiscriminately, creating havoc at a moment’s notice, destroying lives and everything in its raging path.’
The Last Riders are of “loyalty, integrity, commitment, honor, bravery, strength, nobility, and intelligence.”, there was no question to distrust any of the club bothers. But when Gavin found out betrayal among the club brothers, acting on his self knowledge and pride he kept the secret to his own so he could later expose it but that led him to his misfortune. Gavin was engaged at 25-years ready to marry in a few days but before that he fought with his brother Viper and his best friend Rider.
Ginny is a beauty of strength. Her years from an adorable toddler to an adult lady were spent exchanging homes, falling in love with families and living in fear of bringing danger to the ones she loves. Ginny’s story is more clear here. I love how cute and adorable she was. Her relationship with Hammer and the Colemans, and those worst years living with the Wests. Her pickpocketing was cuteness. You’ll simply fall in love with her little self.
Gavin and Ginny has a tragic past. Life was disastrous, how it snatched them from the cradle of safety and dumped them in devastation. Gavin is dead and Reaper is born. Is Ginny his salvation, I belive she is because I know there is a budding romance and Ginny is stubborn to bring Gavin back.
I purposely stayed away from reading the first two books of the trilogy because I thought Jamie Begley won’t be completing the series. I was wrong, the author has personal issues for which she is slow but she never left us hanging. I’m off to the second book, excited to see interactions between Gavin and Ginny. This book is darker than the other books. I love all the characters of the Last Rider’s series and have never enjoyed Motorcycle Club romance this much.
My Review .
This book is worth more then five stars. It’s worth a billion and then some . I know for a fact the next two books will be the same .
Gavins Song .
What a ride this book was, the road to the end of this book for me was one that was like a winding road that traveled over mountains and down gully’s my stomach dipped and heaved with every word . I don’t think I have ever cried as hard at reading a book as I did with this one and that’s saying something because I’ve cried at a few over my time as a reader and blogger.
Even now as I struggle to find the right words to wright this review, I feel I can’t give it the justice it deserves .
Jamie Begley has out done herself once again I really wish I could read her mind when it comes to how she created this story how she felt writing it and the emotional upheaval that it must have taken to bring Gavins Song to life .
I can’t thank her enough for The Last Riders series it has been one of my go to rereads over the years and everytime I reread the books I still feel the emotional connection to each character as if I had read it for the very first time .
There are only a handful of Authors who bring this out in me as a reader and it’s through them I have the courage to write again and hopefully one day a reader will be trying to find the words to write a review about one of my books . However I know I’ll never be as good as these Authors but I thank them a million times over for giving me the courage to try.
Gavins Song is one filled with devastation, heartbreak, loss and secrets , but also hope ,love , acceptance and determination. I took my time reading this book because not only was it so good I didn’t want it to end.
If you haven’t yet read the Last Riders series by Jamie Begley please do your self a favor and start this series today ! Jamie gives 100% of herself to every character she creates it flows on every page but be warned you will need plenty of tissues and alot of water while reading Gavins Song it comes with triggers that some readers may find hard to read .
This book is everything. The plot is so original, right down to the angst and turmoil. I love the character development. I love the dark themes. I love how authentic this experience was. Blown away!
Wow – Powerful – Raw – Brutal – Beautiful
I normally don’t do the MC genre, there are a few exceptions
I came across this author and series wholly by circumstance
Wondering now if it was also a touch of fate
This has to be among the top five emotionally captivating reads of this year for me
Gavin , Ginny , Reaper, the entire cast actually were so much more than just characters written on pages
They pulled down all my defenses
Leaving me emotionally drained at times
I had to read this twice – not kidding
There are so many little things interwoven into the bigger picture
I’m going to take a bit too process then I’ll be back to update my thoughts
What a fantastic start to a MC Trilogy! Jamie is one of my favorite authors in this genre. I’m always sad when the book is over:)
this book….OMG, altho there is no happily ever after in this book, it is a trilogy and will come.
this book takes you into the years that Gavin had been kidnapped, tortured to the point he knew Gavin was dead and he became Reaper. this is the story of how he and Ginny came to be the people they are today.
Ginny was hiding since she was 3 years old, always a bit wary of others. once she became older, she thought her soul partner, was gone from this life. What he went through is heartbreakingly sad. you wonder if he will come out on the other side. but what did it for me was when they finally meet near the end of this story
and she says “You look more like a Gavin to me,” she whispered, her eyes memorizing his. “I’ve been searching for you for such a long time,”
Great read, cant wait for the 2nd and 3rd portion.
I basically love anything Jamie writes 🙂 This was no exception. I did pass some passages quickly because they were so graphic and it hurt to think of Gavin in that horrible position. I’m sure it couldn’t have been easy to write either. Can’t wait for the next 2 installments!
ps: if you’re just starting out with her books, I would start with the first book in the Last Riders series. She has a reading order list in the back.
I’ve read most of Jamie’s books, especially the Last Riders books. Gavin’s story is so sad and tragic. You’ll cry. Get the tissues ready. This is the first part of the trilogy that will be his story. We’d gotten bits and pieces about Gavin in some of the other books, but it was nice to finally get his story. I can’t wait to see more of him falling in love with Ginny after all he’s been through. Jamie never disappoints. Her writing always gets you emotionally invested in the characters and this book is no exception.
4.5 stars
Truths revealed, lives shattered, hearts broken, scenes stolen… This book had it all- minus the heart-stopping romance. (Baby steps for these two in that department, I know, but here’s hoping that it’s remedied ASAP!)
*****SPOILERS*****
This first book in the Road to Salvation trilogy played out exactly as it should have; giving us some of Gavin’s backstory, giving us some of Ginny’s backstory & bringing them together in present time. (It just sucks that they didn’t officially meet until the last two pages of the book & that the next book isn’t out yet!) It didn’t have a huge cliffhanger ending but it was a huge tease since it truly felt like the beginning of their story.
Shrewd, spirited, devoted, caring, resilient… Ginny was flippin’ fabulous. Her pickpocket ways, her revenge on Penni, how she got the last laugh where Lisa was concerned, her kick-butt musical talent, her involvement with Bridge, her relationships with the Colemans, Will, Hammer, the Biker Bitches, Willa, Lucky… GAH! There is so much to love about this woman!!
Loyal, driven, strong, determined… Gavin was all sorts of incredible. My heart broke into a million pieces upon hearing the amount of abuse he had to suffer through & how many different people inflicted it on him. Him working-it-out instead of screwing-it-out, (Sorry not sorry, Jewell.), the radical change in his appearance, the way he took out Ink (& his desire to take down the remaining baddies), how strongly he felt the soulmate pull… Holy crow, I think this man might break me. Crossing my fingers & toes that he doesn’t play runner & push away Ginny over & over again in the next book!
Gods, I already love these two main characters so much as individuals & know I will ADORE them as a couple! That first moment when they laid eyes on one another… Every hair on his body standing on end, the way her voice broke, the reflections in the pool… *le sigh* #TotalSoulmateMaterial
So very cool to discover the truth about certain things, like:
*Who really blackmailed Lisa with that photo in Keeping What’s His (Hint: It wasn’t Shade.)
*Why Bridge sort of faded away instead of staying a problem for Lucky & Willa (Hint: This person had help from Hammer.)
*How the Biker Bitches are the BEST at keeping secrets
*Why Gavin requests to speak with Diamond/Knox
Still, there are things that NEED resolution, like:
*Ginny’s relationship with Silas & the Coleman family- A reunion of sorts is in high order for these guys.
*The stalker problem- Is it Carter Dawkins?! Or someone else?
*The Allerton situation- What secret does Ginny know & is Allerton still after her?
*Slate & the remaining baddies- Where are they & how is Gavin going to finish them off when he finds them?
*Are Taylor & the Wests really out of the picture because that seems way too easy..?
CANNOT WAIT to get my hands on the next book in the trilogy, Reaper’s Wrath. I know this one will be all about the revenge but I’m SO READY FOR THE ROMANCE to finally start!
Side Note #1: Greer continues to be the MOST AMAZING CHARACTER in this entire saga. #PetiteSirloinx2
Side Note #2: I still think Raci should be six feet under because of her TRAITOR ways.
Damn, this was just as good as I thought it was gonna be. Pretty sad and heartbreaking…as expected.
Nothing romantic going on just yet….but the promise of one is in the air and it smells so sweet !!!
The only part I really didn’t like was the end… Oh, how I hate cliffhangers and waiting !! Please hurry with the next books because I need them, like RIGHT NOW !!
Gavin and Ginny were definitely awesome but I also loved revisiting my old favorites….yes Shade, I am talking about you 😉 Might be time for another re-read I think.
I do have one advise before starting this trilogy and that is to at least read “The Last Riders” series. I think this trilogy can be read as a stand-alone, but it will confuse you a bit. You also won’t know all the wonderful (and not so wonderful) side-characters, which would be a real shame.
Just don’t go into this one expecting roses and sunshine and romance, because you won’t find any….that’s not to say that there won’t be any in the next book… This first book explains how Gavin and Ginny came to be the people they are today. And let me tell you…do they have a story to tell !!!
I’m giving this one 4,5 stars, Shade still holds the top with 5 stars 😉 … so far.
The Road to Salvation is here
Finally, the first part of Gavin’s story is here. This story will break your heart multiple times, have you breaking out in goosebumps and even shedding tears you didn’t know you had left to cry There will be times you want to pull your hair out in frustration and then times when you know things are coming to a head.
This is the beginning of Gavin and Ginny. Now, originally when it was suggested that Ginny might be the other half to Gavin I was like….nah she’s too gentle and soft yada yada, but OMG Ginny just blew my mind with her spine of steel strength and her compassion. I want the next book as quickly as possible because this is going to be an epic love story for the ages A must read story and author
