A USA Today Must-Read Romance!
Will the prince’s kiss be enough to revive her frozen heart? Don’t miss GATHERING FROST, a dystopian romance from bestselling author Kaitlyn Davis that reimagines the classic fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty.
Jade was only a little girl when the earthquake struck. Before her eyes, half of New York City disappeared, replaced by a village that seemed torn out of a … disappeared, replaced by a village that seemed torn out of a storybook. Horses and carriages. Cobblestone streets. A towering castle. And, above all, a queen with the magical ability to strip emotions away.
Ten years later and Jade has forgotten what it is to feel, to care…even to love. Working as a member of the queen’s guard, she spends most of her time on the city wall staring at the crumbling skyscrapers of old New York. But everything changes when the queen’s runaway son, Prince Asher, returns. Jade is tasked with an unusual mission–to let the Prince capture her, to make him trust her, and then to betray his secrets to the crown. In return, she’ll earn her freedom. But life outside the queen’s realm is more than Jade bargained for. Under Asher’s relentless taunts, her blood begins to boil. Under his piercing gaze, her heart begins to flutter. And the more her icy soul begins to thaw, the more Jade comes to question everything she’s ever known–and, more importantly, whose side she’s really on.

Jade is a character you just feel for. Asher is a lovable character. Together they are just perfect. I love the world this author has created. It is so interesting. The romance is sweet but there is still a lot of action and some drama. I will definitely be continuing this series.
A re-telling of Sleeping Beauty, where the girl – Jade – instead of literally sleeping is without any emotions due to the Queen’s magic. The icy feeling in her chest begins to melt when she meets prince Asher, of course!
I like Jade, who is strong and capable of taking care of herself, but it’s prince Asher that wins my heart with his caring and generous way.
For a long time I don’t see how we’re gonna get a happy ending in this story, but of course we do! And maybe this isn’t all that original, but I enjoyed listening to the audiobook!
Practically perfect in every way!
Idk why I said that, I just felt like Mary Poppins needed an appearance in my review. Anyway, that first sentence pretty much summed it up.
This book was just so cute and funny! I was totally falling for the characters and I am so psyched to read the next book. You’ve gotta read this if you love fairy tales!
I absolutely love fairytale retelling especially when the author adds their own take and twists to the story to make it super good and this sleeping beauty / snow queen version is just awesome! I love the fact that our ‘sleeping beauty / snow queen ‘ isn’t timid but a kick ass warrior, love the other characters, the slow burn romance, the twists and turns, yep this fast paced read is one not to be missed!
This was my first book by Kaitlyn Davis and I really enjoyed it. Re-telling of an old fairy tale can take so many different directions, but I love what she did with Gathering Frost and look forward to reading the next book.
magic can be beautiful and dangerous at the same time. It can be used to help and heal, but also turned to a weapon.
So is it with hope, the greatest magic of all.
Jade was under the curse of the magic -frozen, cold, dead on the inside, unfeeling, a stranger to emotions since her childhood. Until she met Asher – the one wanted by queen Deirdre, the heir to the kingdom, the one who knows love and compassion. Ending up in the rebel camp, Jade comes alive again – only to be haunted by her choices and the inevitable consequences of her actions.
Nice and fast retelling of the sleeping beauty, set up into a magical dystopian environment, with enchanting magic making the story really intriguing. I liked the romance between Jade and Asher and the development shown in their personalities, even though I’d have liked to see more in-depth growth of them. Even more interesting were the glimpses of the different layers of queen Deirdre’s personality – hard and evil, vulnerable, lonely, sort of desperate.. it made her in the end more human than she was presented on the surface. I enjoyed the fast plot development, devouring the story in less than two days, and I would like to see more of this world in the future.
A fantastic read. That I totally loved. This is one of my favorite fairytales, and I totally loved this version of it. From the first page to the last this is a real page turner, that took me into a fantasy world that I felt like I was apart of the story. The Author brings the Characters and surrounding so well I felt I could visually see it in my minds eye. I definitely recommend this fantastic read.
