I am so enjoying this series. Lucy and the vampires along with Violet and William make every book a page turner. Lucy is growing in every aspect. There is love, mystery, magic and death without the goure. I’m looking forward to starting the next book.

Lucy is getting pretty good at running her grandmother’s knitting shop in Oxford. Well, I guess it’s actually her knitting shop since her grandmother is dead. Technically she’s undead. And one of the newest members of the vampire knitting circle. Yes, you heard me right. Vampires are real and they live in tunnels under the knitting shop and probably most of Oxford, too. Except for Rafe, their undead leader. He has a big ass mansion out in the country. Anyway, like I was saying, Lucy is getting to be quite the businesswoman. Unfortunately it’s taking her a lot longer to get the hang of being a witch. Maybe if she took it more seriously she’d progress faster. I really like Lucy, but, for fuck’s sake, I just want to smack that child sometimes.
Lucy and her intrepid vampire sleuths have been solving murders in Oxford for quite a while now. You’d think Lucy was some kind of murder magnet the way she’s always stumbling onto or into a crime scene. It’s a good thing she’s pretty smart and has awesome helpers to solve these cases otherwise the police might think she was a serial killer or something. Awkward.
Anyway, this time an old high school frenemy of Lucy’s comes to town and man, do I hate her. She is extremely hateable. Trust me. So we know she’s going to end up dead, right? Yay! The best part is she ends up dead in a mansion (not Rafe’s) with a lot of rich assholes around. Any one of them could have done it and it’s great wading through them to see who did the delightful, *cough* I mean, dastardly deed. Even though there’s less of the vampires in this one, my favorite Detective Inspector Ian Chisolm is on the scene and Rafe’s butler/catering whiz, William, gets some serious page time. I love him! Lucy (and by Lucy I mean the author hint hint) seriously needs to find him a potential wife. He’s a darling! Excellent characters, great plot, some English history, and overall, a fabulous afternoon’s entertainment. I’m still loving this series and look forward to more.
Garters and Gargoyles by Nancy Warren
Vampire Knitting Club Series Book Ten
Lucy Swift lives in Oxford, England, and owns Cardinal Woolsey’s knitting shop. She inherited from her grandmother…who is still around. And Gran is just one of the undead. Ever since she came to Oxford to find out her grandmother had been murdered and she left all she owned to Lucy, life has been interesting.
There have been murders, and Lucy always seems to be in the middle of them. And her grandmother and her friends, all part of the vampire knitting club that meets in Lucy’s backroom, get quite bored and enjoy helping solve the mysteries along with Lucy.
This time, an old friend…who wasn’t really a friend since she betrayed Lucy when she was sixteen…pops in for a visit. Before Lucy can stop things, Pamela worms her way into helping Lucy waitress for a dinner that William was catering. And from there, it all goes downhill. An excellent cozy mystery told from Lucy’s POV.

Garters and Gargoyles is the tenth book in the wonderful Vampire Knitting Club series and can also be read as a perfect stand-alone book. This fabulous cozy mystery features Lucy, Rafe, William, gran and all the regular members of the Vampire Knitting club who help solve this latest murder. Great characters, great mysteries and the attraction between Lucy and Rafe are Just some of the reasons to read this book and this series. I loved this book and cannot recommend it highly enough.
A thoroughly delightful series.
Lucy has been asked to waitress at a Gargoyle Club private dinner. They’re a little rowdy for the local set so one of the father’s is hosting the dinner. But before she can waitress, a high school frenemy has dropped into the shop and has joined the waitress group. The night turns pretty rowdy and her frenemy is dead. Who is this prestigious group has killed her and why?
Once again, another greater knitting club mystery. Great characters and great stories.
Such a great series with the MC continuing to gain confidence as her skills deepen both in her business and paranormal activities although her knitting still frequently ends up in a tangle. The MC’s confidence is severely tested by a seemingly random meeting with a former acquaintance who inflicted a searing emotional wound during her adolescence. While you may read this as a stand-alone, don’t deny yourself the pleasure of reading the previous books if you’re new to the series.
It was my pleasure to receive this ARC and give my honest review.
Garters and Gargoyles is the tenth in the Vampire Knitting Club Series by Nancy Warren. While Ms. Warren has two other paranormal cozy mysteries going too this series will always be my favorite. It’s not just Lucy I also love her grandmother as well as all the other undead knitters who make up Lucy’s support group. Then there is Rafe, easy to love no matter how old or old fashioned he is.
Lucy jumps into solving this murder mystery even though the dead was not a past or future friend to her instead the woman is a schemer. This says more about the goodness of Lucy then it does the murder victim. A captivating read from Lucy and Rafe at the beginning to Lucy and Rafe at the end. I can’t wait to read the next adventure, makes me want to learn to knit!

The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I can’t believe this is the tenth book in this series and I can’t wait until the next one comes out. The characters are unique and I loved trying to solve the mystery before Lucy does. I like that Lucy is still struggling with her magic and with the help of her vampire friends discuss the murder suspects and possible motives for the murder.I would definitely recommend this book.I was given an arc and this is my honest review.
This series keeps getting better! In Garters and Gargoyles, Lucy has to contend with an “old friend” and a secret society. No spoilers here, but I will say, I can’t wait for the next book!!
Loved this one!! Lucy comes face to face with an old friend or should I say enemy. Of course there is another case to solve and the vampire knitting club along with a few others are on the case with her. This one kept me on my toes as I was trying to figure out who done it along with the crew. A romance is brewing but would love if it sped up. Looking forward to book 11.
Characters that you connect with immediately yet seem to get better with each book like a fine wine! The plots of each story draw you, keep you intrigued so that you lose track of time and just keep turning pages to see what will come next and this book is no exception to that rule! Rafe’s a member of a not so secret society that has absolutely gone off the rails with entitled rich college boys who can’t stop getting into trouble and trouble is about to heat up when a dead body is found at one of their events! Lucy and gang must quickly investigate or the wrong spoiled little rich kid may end up in jail for a crime that another has committed. Meanwhile there are a few other intriguing side storylines heating up that will also draw you and have you fit to be tied as you wait for the next book to be written! No pressure Ms Warren, but bring on the next book!
Another entertaining and spellbinding paranormal. Let the adventure begin, it amazes me how boldly Lucy dives into thick of things with 100% dedication and focus on solving the mystery. I love the pace, the length and the members of the club are great and very supportive. I got so wrapped up in this that I forgot to put my sleuthing cap on and figure out the culprit, never a dull moment.
I was provided a free advance copy without obligation and I am voluntarily reviewing.
GARTERS AND GARGOYLES is a standalone read in the VAMPIRE KNITTING CLUB series. It is a cozy mystery so even though there is a murder it is not the maker of nightmares. Lucy once again finds herself in the middle of a mystery that she feels it is up to her to solve. The police are at work investigating but Lucy has a lot of help from the vampires that live in a nest below her knit shop. She inherited the shop from her gran when she passed. Then months later Lucy discovers that her gran is one of the undead being turned at the last minute. She must be kept in hiding so that no one that knew her would see her walking the streets again.
Lucy is working in the shop when the bells announces a customer. She looks up to see her worst nightmare. It is Pamela Black, THAT girl from high school in the states. Lucy now lives in Oxford, England where she is owner of the town’s only knit shop where she sells the materials and has a couple of teaching classes.
Pamela was one of the mean girls. She decided she wanted Lucy’s boyfriend and she took him. Pamela made it look like it was for the best but Lucy never got over it. Now here she is in England and no doubt wanting to cause trouble. She manages to get herself invited to be a serving person in one of William’s catering jobs. Of course, Pamela never served anyone but herself and nothing has changed. Too bad she took the job because she winds up murdered and laid out on the pool table.
Now the mystery starts. It is up to Lucy to see if she can solve the murder. One thing, Lochlan Belfore is visiting from Ireland. He is the head vampire in the Vampire Book Club series. Lucy’s gran as well as Rafe had visited Ireland to see about finding a shop for her to run far from Oxford. But, Lochlan is visiting and he is an invited guest at the dinner party where Lucy will be serving.
While in Ireland Gran bought a silver bracelet with the Claddagh designed in it. She bought it as a gift to Lucy. The Gladdagh stands for love, loyalty and friendship. This same bracelet was given away by the author in a contest. I won the bracelet and then got to see it have a role in this book. Exciting and fun for me!!
There are lots of twist and turns in the story. Pamela was not who she was pretending to be. Rafe is getting a little braver in making his feelings about Lucy known. Lucy has also taken it upon herself to find William a love. You will remember that William is Rafe’s butler. His passion is cooking and he has started a catering business with Rafe’s blessing. This is a fun and interesting read. We always get ti-bits of information regarding Oxford, the college there, and the area. It is almost like being there. You will not be lost in this book if you have not read the others. There is no sex or colorful language so any age can read and enjoy.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 6/2/2020
“Where your intent lies, your magic follows.”
But when your intent is to solve (yet another) murder, will magic be enough? Lucy has a run in with an old “frenenemy” from Boston trying to get into a private party for the Society of Gargoyles – one of the “secret” societies at Oxford university. Offering to help William with the catering detail at the House it is being held in, Lucy, Violet and Pamela:Lucy’s “friend” , go in, but only two live through the night.
Who among the 12 men at the party did it? If course, Rage and his guest didn’t, so, ten remain. Will Lucy, with or without magic, figure it out?
In this, the 10th in the series, author Nancy Warren still is able to keep the reader interested enough to keep turning pages, and wonder why they’ve lost all track of time until the last page. I get so excited with these books everything gets set aside until I’m done. I can’t wait for the next one! Highly Recommended 5/5
