CARTERRelationships–who needs ‘em? As a personal-assistant-extraordinaire to one of the top PR firms in Los Angeles, I’ve dedicated most of my life to errand-running and people-pleasing. But when it comes to men, as much as I love to please them in the bedroom, I’m way too busy to give more than that. Fortunately, as far as my options go…well, let’s just say I’m used to getting what I want, … getting what I want, whenever I want it.
Unless your name happens to be Sawyer Burke.
I haven’t been in Fever Falls long, but the more time I spend here, the more intrigued I’ve become by the guy with the sexy auburn locks and the no-nonsense attitude. He plays the quiet, bookish part well, but he’s got a problem–I have a talent for reading people, and if there’s one thing I’m certain about, it’s that there’s a wild sex-beast hiding under his clever facade. He thinks screwing around is all a big game to me, but games can be fun, right?
SAWYER
I’ve always been a relationship guy. I never understood the urge to bed a different guy every night. But it hasn’t worked out well for me. The one time I let my guard down with a guy, he crushed me. Broke me. That’s not something I’m eager to risk again, so I focus on my friends, my brother, and my bookstore. Really, it’s better for me. I’m not the kind of guy most men want anyway.
Unfortunately, I can’t get Carter James out of my head. I told myself I hate him–and I should. He’s everything I’m not–loud, sassy…and more than a little annoying. But I want him too, and he’s made no secret of wanting me. I refuse to get caught up in one of his games, but I’m also learning there’s more to Carter than meets the eye. He unleashes something inside me I never knew was there–this dominant sex-god that somehow makes me feel more like me than I ever have.
I can’t let myself fall in love with him. Easier said than done. Carter challenges me in ways I didn’t know I needed. What we share becomes a game of sorts, but not the kind I first thought, and the longer we play, the more likely it is that the losers will be our hearts. We should stop. We should know better. But even if there’s the unlikeliest chance that we might win–well, then–GAME ON.
Game On is part of the Fever Falls series but can be read and enjoyed on its own.

When I saw that this was going to be Sawyer and Carter’s book, I was SO excited. The constant back and forth between them in other books where they were side characters really set this one up to be something special.
But, I was kind of disappointed with this story. It starts off on kind of a forced note and that started it off poorly for me. I didn’t love how the plot progressed from there…enemies to kind of friends to secret lovers to official relationship to angst-y separation to happily ever after just felt like a lot of things to try to cram into one story. I think a few of those plot points could have been eliminated and the story would have felt more developed.
I think the best part of this book were the main characters – both Sawyer and Carter were so lovable and so complex/deep beyond what they showed to the world. Sawyer comes off as a quiet, introverted guy who is so insecure due to experiences in his past. On the flip side, Carter is the life of the party, outgoing and so confident but underneath it all he’s battling feelings of inadequacy from his past as well. Together, they help each other to move on from the people and experiences that haunt them and become the best versions of themselves. Watching them grow and influence each other was so sweet and seeing them overcome their original differences to find love was perfect.
As always, I really enjoyed being back in Fever Falls. The Saturgays are such a great group of guys and each of their stories have been enjoyable (some more than others) – they’re entertaining, witty and always make me laugh. Looking forward to the final book in the series…bring on Cam and Jude!
Fearless
When Riley Hart and Devon McCormack write together magic happens. Carter and Sawyer broke my heart but in the best way. I enjoyed the cameos at the lodge, and I need to learn how to ski and visit BC. Cam is an awesome brother and his nickname for Sawyer is so cute. I really love all of the guys in Fever Falls and there must be something in the water but I am so glad for it. I want to hug both Sawyer and Carter because of their pasts and how it affects them now.
“You stand just fine on your own, Saw.” If I ever see Julian or Carter’s mom, they better watch out. Carter’s alliterations and nicknames for Sawyer are clever and entertaining. I love how Sawyer relaxes and learns to find himself. He may be cautious but when he decides to go for it, whew, he is forceful and commanding. With Carter I love how he let’s himself be vulnerable and shared pieces of himself with Sawyer. Their playful antics made me laugh and they are so very hot together. Carter and Sawyer fit together and they are both winners in this game.
RILEY HART and DEVON MCCORMACK are talented Authors in their own right. When they collaborate together, it’s MAGIC!! The FEVER FALLS Books can be read as standalones but it’s a MAGNIFICENT SERIES. Sawyer is a quiet, down to earth, bookstore owner. Everyone accuses him of being predictable, boring and stodgy. Carter blows into town as a personal assistant to Dax. He is provocative, sexy, flirty and always up for a good time. He drives Sawyer crazy. They can’t even have a conversation without being snarky. Until they get trapped at a ski resort together. These two have issues that are buried deep. As they learn to understand each other and drop their guards down, they become friends. This story is about learning to trust, finding out that they are better than what they think of themselves. Together they begin to explore and boy, are their explorations HOT! Sawyer finds a dormant dominate and Carter finds he likes to be bossed around. Did I mention that they’re HOT. This is an AMAZING story. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THIS INCREDIBLE SERIES!!!!!
Oh my goodness, Sawyer and Carter get all the stars in this series. They are absolutely my favorite couple! I laughed, I cried, I swooned and I fell in love with these two men. The chemistry was explosive and their love story was sweet and steamy hot!
Whenever Riley Hart and Devon McCormack combine their amazing individual talents, what ensues is pure magic!
I have been waiting to read Carter and Sawyer’s story, what with Carter annoying the hell out of Saw in the previous books and Sawyer being so composed and uptight, one could already tell that their story was bound to be explosive… and so it is!!! So sexy and hot! And also funny, as the two characters, who initially seem to have absolutely nothing in common, start to get close and banter back and forth and have silly and funny moments!
But what really, really distinguish these characters is their feelings and the well-rounded backstories: the intensity and the depth is what made this book such an emotional read. It made me laugh, it made me cry and I fell so deep for these two amazing men!
Perfectly done, Riley and Devon, I can’t wait to read more from Fever Falls’ Saturgay crew (perhaps Cam and jude’s story, next?)
Oh wow Sawyer and Carter are hmm not quite enemies to lovers and bffs but close. This has snark, laughter, friends and love! A great addition to this series. Best read as part of the series. Loved seeing Carter and Sawyer overcome their insecurities with each other.
This book centers around Sawyer and Carter. The book would be a standalone, but is probably better enjoyed after reading the other books in the series. The entire series is great and this book is not an exception. Sawyer is shy and anxious. His previous relationships have left him gun shy. Carter is a playboy. He is confident and bodacious. Sawyer is interested but is afraid. When a chance encounter brings out a new side of Sawyer, he decides he wants to explore it with Carter.
Great spicy read. I loved Sawyer’s transformation and exploration. Carter is more than the vapid twink he portrays himself as. These books are the best mix of fluffy romance and soul searching angst. Absolutely terrific!!!
Sizzling read with all the humor, naughtiness and intense emotions I’ve come to expect from both authors.
I love a good opposites attract story, which this definitely is, and the animosity that exists between Carter and Sawyer in the beginning of the book stokes a fire that burns oh so hot once they give in to their feelings. I absolutely adored all the sweet little moments and subtle, but meaningful touches between Carter and Sawyer. Love softly creeps up on these two, and they’re none the wiser until it’s too late… or is it? These guys put my heart through the wringer, but no worries… HEA guaranteed <3
There’s just so much to love in this story. There’s the chemistry and the banter between the MC’s which is an absolute delight to read, but what takes this story to an even higher level is the wonderful, heartfelt friendship that builds between the MC’s, a strong foundation for an even stronger love, and the way they tackle their problems and insecurities together. For each man has things he hides from the outside world and even from their close-knit group of friends, trying so hard to overcome past hurts that still define them in the present.
There’s no over-selling this book. It’s amazing. Simple as that.
Game On is a great addition to the Fever Falls series. I loved these not quite enemies to friends to lover’s story. There is so much more to Sawyer and Carter than what shows on the surface. After being forced to spend time alone together during a snow storm they each realize that maybe they needed to look deeper to really know the other person.
I really liked how we get to see the progression of their relationship. Peeling back the layers to see the entire person. They may seem like complete opposites but they are actually perfect together.
It was wonderful seeing the Saturgay crew again. This group of friends is supportive, honest, irreverent and so much fun! What a fun Easter egg bonus of getting to see Derek and Jackson!
I am loving this series and can’t wait for more (CAM’s story)!!!!
