Game of Fear: A gripping psychological thriller with a shocking twist (Fearless Series)
By Glede Browne Kabongo
5 out of 5 stars
The story Game of Fear: A gripping psychological thriller with a shocking twist (Fearless Series) by Glede Browne Kabongo is a YA thriller that I loved reading. It pulls you in from the beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until the final page. There is mystery, romance, and suspense. I enjoyed reading about the character of Abbie Cooper. She is a young woman whose concern is getting into a prestigious college. Then she receives a threat from an anonymous source known as The Avenger. He knows a secret that could destroy everything that she has worked for. Will Abbie find out who The Avenger is? Will she be forced to play by his rules? Read this book to find out. I found Abbie to be intelligent, independent and determined when she needs to be. She is a character that is likable and has flaws. I found myself rooting for her to succeed. There are many other characters that I enjoyed reading about. They interact with Abby and are supportive of her. Then there are those that are only out for themselves. Will their plans and agenda succeed? Don’t miss out on a suspenseful book that will keep you guessing. I highly recommend reading it.
I didn’t like this book as much as Winds of fear. This was more a YA book than thriller. It did have some thrilling parts. Abby is in high school and is blackmailed over a mistake she made in high school during a particularly stressful time. It was good but just didn’t grab my attention as much a her other books. It was still a good book. So I was a little disappointed.
I actually read Wind of Fear first, and when I found out it was part of a series I was excited to get the other books. I loved getting to know Abby’s backstory better, and getting to know Abby herself better. The author did a really good job going from a teenager’s voice in this novel to a grown woman’s in Winds of Fear. Thrillers are my favorite genre to read, followed closely by young adult novels, so I really loved this mashup. It reminded me a bit of Gossip Girl initially, with the prestigious school and the political landscapes of the rich and powerful, but it morphed into something more sinister than “rich kid problems.” I’m looking forward to diving in to Autumn of Fear.
Glede Browne Kabongo probably turned into my favorite thriller author! This book took you to a level and then some. I was gibbing my chair and didn’t want to stop reading!
We have Abby who is the model student and human being. Top grades and on her track to Harvard until something in her past comes up. It was something she buried but no deep enough. Someone is calling her out on the events of her past but she has no idea who it is.
I loved reading this book. It kept me on the edge of my seat and it had me guessing who this person could be. I have fallen in love with this book and the author’s writing. The author became a one-click for me!
Game of Fear: A gripping psychological thriller with a shocking twist (Fearless Series) by Glede Browne Kabongo was a fantastic read with a lot of twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. The book definitely lives up to its title that’s for sure. The storyline and characters will keep you engaged and hooked until the very end. In this book we met Abbie who has always been a good girl who has set some high goals for herself. Once her world is turned upside down after she endures the pressure and games at her current school everything could be in jeopardy. Will she lose everything she has worked so hard for? Highly recommend this book, you won’t be disappointed if you love a great thriller.
Game of Fear: A gripping psychological thriller with a shocking twist (Fearless Series) by Gledé Browne Kabongo. This book had me completely drawn in and on the edge of my seat. This author knows the meaning of suspense and how to keep readers guessing. From page one I knew I was in for quite the adventure with Abbie, I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. It’s not an overly long book but that didn’t hinder the storyline in anyway, it’s fast paced but not rushed. It’s a well written thriller that I really enjoyed. Characters are complex and well written. If you’re looking for something that keeps you on the edge of your seat I highly recommend this book. Four stars and highly recommended.

Fearless Series
Glede’ Browne Kabongo
This is a full length novel. A thriller written for YA, but don’t let that stop you. It is a great intense story for all.
As I won’t give away any spoilers, I can tell you that this is a must read! Abbi Cooper is at St. Matthew’s Academy headed towards a major league college. Her nightmare is about to happen and she has no clue who could be behind it all. She must play the game and find out who knows what.
Glede’ Browne Kabongo has a great imagination! Her story is gripping and will keep you turning the page, just to see what happens next. Her characters are typical teenagers. You know the ones you hang out with. This story gives you suspense as well as well as keeps you up all night to finish the book. Once you sit in this rollercoaster, hang on as its about to get real. I enjoyed this story and look forward to spreading the word. This is a new author for me! One I will continue to follow.
This book is not in my normal age group range for characters (high school). I just feel i don’t relate or they’re acting older than they should but this had a nice balance so it held me to the story.
Abbie is destined to go far but someone is trying to blackmail her for the one wrong thing she ever did. I kind of figured it out early on but wasn’t 100% sure until closer to the end.
Will read more from this author as it seems with the sneak peak at the end the story continues on for Abbie in college and another mystery.

Wow, I Couldn’t pull myself away from this book! Abbie Cooper an overachiever dreaming of getting into Princeton. Abbie has a big surprise when an unknown person sends her a message signed by the avenger. Then the avenger amps it up! Is it a friend or foe or a stranger that’s playing the game of fear with Abbie? You’ll have to read to find out! This is definitely a page-turner great writing style that keeps your attention on the book. I will definitely be reading more of the Author’s books.

“Sometimes good girls do very bad things”, and good girl Abbie Cooper may have done something very bad indeed. Abbie has always been an overachiever especially academically and her goal is to get into the Ivy League, Princeton. However at her current school, St. Matthew’s Academy the pressure is immense and is also full of wicked games and dirty secrets.
One day Abbie receives a package from ‘The Avenger’, the package contains photos exposing Abbie’s worst and hidden secret, this not only puts her chances of attaining her goal of Princeton in jeopardy but also puts the life’s of her family at risk too. The Avenger, says her secret will be kept but for a price, and Abbie must play the game to find out who the Avenger is, if he exists at all. All Abbie knows is that someone knows her secret and is out to ruin her.
I was hooked from page one until the last page, however I did find the book a bit slow to start with but once I got into the story I found it flowed well. I enjoyed this suspenseful thriller and found it was full of twists and turns which kept me guessing until the end and it’s shocking conclusion. The novel is part of a series and I look forward to reading further books by Glede Browne Kabongo.

Game of Fear – A gripping psychological thriller with a shocking twist (Fearless Series) by Gledé Browne Kabongo is a suspense story that had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what happens next. I was drawn in from the beginning and found myself lost in the pages. I couldn’t turn them fast enough. There’s just a little bit of everything from suspense to mystery and even romance. This is my first read by this Author but it definitely wont be my last. Amy has everything going for her all but the one time she did something very very bad. She finds herself in a situation where someone is saying they know what she did. But what do they want with her? What will happen when she is forced to play by his rules? Find out what happens next in this must read I can’t wait to read more from this Author.
I give Game of Fear – A gripping psychological thriller with a shocking twist (Fearless Series) by Glede Brown Kabongo, 4 stars.
This is a psychological thriller book for the young adult crowd. The main character is a senior at a very elite high school and it is centered around her and her friends. This book is well written and the story has you on edge the entire time. Someone is out to make her life hell and they seem to stop at nothing. What I liked most about this book was that you do not see many books in this genre for this age group. That in itself was refreshing. Not to pull away from the book, I was never a rich college kid who had to think of her family being disgraced if she did something wrong, so I couldn’t completely relate to this fear and this side of the book. However, I can understand and have read about the hidden secret you never want exposed. The author makes this very clear.
The cast of characters is good too — pretty much what you would expect from an elite high school for rich teens. There is a mixture of people too, not just all one type of person. I also like how the author integrated many different races, making the book have a different feel to it.
If you like YA Thriller that keep you guessing until the end, this book is for you.
This is a new author to me. Abbie is high academically and an overachiver someone has found out a dark secret and message her from a blocked number. Who are they how do they know this secret what will they do if she doesn’t participate in this game of Fear. I was on my feet when the story unraveled. Highly recommended this book.
Gledé Browne Kabongo’s ‘Game of Fear,’ checks all of the boxes. It’s fast paced, suspenseful, surprising, and full of diverse characters. I am so happy I took a chance on this book, because it kept me on the edge of my seat, and I may or may not have read it all in one setting.
Being an overachiever and all-around good girl, myself, I immediately connected with Abbie. Abbie is such a likeable character you can’t help but root for her as she goes toe to toe with the Avenger.
I will definitely add the Fearless Series my list of favorite series! Now on to the next book!
This book is an amazing book full of twists and turns to keep you guessing and a ending that i never saw coming.
Abbie is a grade A student who has big plans which seem on track until the mysterious Avenger appears and threatens to reveal her secret which will ruin her life.
The only way to stop that happening is to play the game and follow the rules. But is the Avenger really real or not, only time will tell.
Game of Fear: The fearless series by Glede Browne Kabongo is a 5 star read.
Abbie Cooper is a high school senior, she has big plans for her future until a note in her textbook from someone calling themselves “The Avenger” saying they know what she did brings back painful memories of 3 years previous when her mother was in jail waiting to be tried for murder and Abbie did something stupid that she fears is now coming back to haunt her. Abbie thinks she knows who the blackmailer is but finding the evidence is hard. I must admit I figured out pretty quickly who the blackmailer was but it in no way took any enjoyment I got from reading this book. This is the first in a series about Abbie at different points in her life, this author has created an amazing story with characters who keep you hooked. I would highly recommend this book.
Game of Fear by Glede Browne Kabongo is an interesting Young Adult book. Not murder and mayhem but blackmail and manipulation. A book about mistakes and how they come back to haunt us and a book about facing our prejudice and overcoming it. It’s a good clean story that is well suited to teenagers and older adults who like a good mystery to unravel. A really good, laid back read.
This psychological thriller had me hooked from the first page trying to figure out what happened and then determine who the Avenger is. The author does a fabulous job writing a story that appeals to a wide spectrum of ages and has fantastic detail to keep the reader engaged and guessing. Loved it from start to finish. Fantastic!

Game of Fear is the first intriguing instalment in the Fearless series by Gledè Browne Kabongo. I came into this series a little backwards, starting off on book three. It had me hooked right from the beginning, and so I wanted to go back to the beginning to discover more of the backstory, and see what had transpired in the first two books. I am really pleased that I did, because this book was not only a really great suspenseful read- it also gave me a bit of a bigger picture for the following books. But, having said that- the book/s can be read as a standalone, but be prepared to be intrigued enough to want to read the other books as well.
This story was everything I expected it to be, gripping and suspenseful. Full of secrets, blackmail, deception, cyber spying, stalking, discovery, mystery, and psychological games. And as I had hoped, it pulled me in right from the start and had me devouring the story just to find out how everything unfolds.
Definitely a series I want more of!
Thank you, Ms. Browne Kabongo!
