After two of his teammates fall prey to the curse, Gage Collier realizes he’s got worse things to worry about than the power of the curse alone. He’s got his mother to fear, and the woman is on a mission. When a columnist spills the beans that the curse is in play and there’s only one victim left to be had, Gage’s mother spins a web designed to trap him into being its third victim and give her … the grandbabies she’s been wanting. Though the bait she sets is tempting, Gage has no interest in falling in love. With his mother strategizing against him, Gage probably doesn’t stand a chance, but he’ll go down fighting before he takes this hit.
The Triple Play Curse
Every member of the Strikers, San Francisco’s professional baseball team, knows about the Triple Play Curse. When one Striker falls in love and gets either married or engaged during the season, two more will fall for a total of three. And, whenever the curse is in play, the team suffers for it. More errors and injuries, lost pennant runs, you name it. No one wants to trigger the curse.
Book One: Game Changer
Book Two: Game Maker
Book Three: Game Clincher
Each book in the series is a standalone plot with no cliffhangers. The series can be read in any order but readers may enjoy it best read from book one through three. These books were previously published under the same title as part of Bella Andre’s Game for Love World.

This is the 3rd and final book in the series of novellas. This was again a short easy read, perfect for a nice day outside or just some me time. The curse has hit the team and there needs to be one more to fall, but this time the curse has a little help from his mom.

Game Clincher is book 3 in the Triple Play Curse by Lori Ryan. Each book in this series is a standalone novella but reading in sequence give you more insight to the “Curse” and what the players do with their superstitions and rituals.
Now it’s Gage Collier’s turn but he has more to worry about beside the “Curse”…it’s his mother…she is determined to find him someone to fall in love with, marry and give his mother the grand babies she so desperately wants. If everything goes as his mother plans he will be the last one to fall and complete the Triple Play Curse… or will he?
Really enjoyed this book from beginning to end. From Gage Collier and his teammates, to his matchmaking mother and of course, Elise who I’ve totally fallen in love with when she breaks out her wisdom and advice and of course, Talia. This is a great third book to the series and I really liked how it ended and of course the epilogue was perfect! I’d personally love to have another book in this series as a ‘check-in’ on all our favorite couples to see what they’re up to.
I’m on a roll today! This is the third book in this series read today and I loved each one! Gabe has finally fallen and he can thank his mom for it. Yep, she sets it all up by instigating a housekeeper who has to take time off and the sub is her daughter, Talia, a graduate student. Oh, he could have seen that coming, and did try to resist but just couldn’t. The only problem, when he fell, she ran. Didn’t see that one coming…now what is he going to do…Don’t miss this series!
A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. This one about Gage and how his mother seems to feel he needs help in settling down instead of being so focused on his baseball career. A good sport series but are all standalone reads.
This was a quick yet fun and highly entertaining summer adventure filled with awesome charters, witty banter, exciting twists and thrilling passion…. a great read from beginning to end. really enjoyed this series and this journey.
I received an advanced copy of this book. This is the third book in this series. The Strikers Baseball team is cursed. Two members of the team have already become engaged and there has to be a third in order for the curse to stop. Gage Collier’s Mom is determined that he is the one who will finish it. She wants grandkids while she is still young enough to play with them! She and a friend who cleans homes, decide that they will set up their kids. Will sparks fly? Will the curse end? This is a great ending and another hot romance!
The 3rd installment in this series. A matchmaking mother is sick of waiting for Grand kids and finds her son a woman. Gage doesn’t see it coming. I enjoyed that in this one the woman was the one in denial. Her life plans didn’t include love and Gage is going to have to work for it. This was another fun, enjoyable read and I highly recommend this series for a lunchtime read.
The Triple Play Curse has taken down two players, they are happily committed and in love. No one wants to be the next to fall, but Gage’s mother has other ideas.
She comes up with an ingenious scheme to set up Gage, I have to admit it was the perfect setup. Her friend Lucia cleans houses for a living and has a daughter who fills in for her from time to time.
The idea is for Lucia to get the job cleaning her son’s home, then pretend an injury so her daughter will fill in.
Getting the job was easy since all the other interviews were with twenty-somethings that only want a chance at snagging Gage. Since Lucia is an older woman, Gage took that bait, hook, line and sinker.
In spite of all their best intentions, Talia and Gage fall hard and fast for each other. So much so that they both retreat.
Lots of fun, laughter and a few tears as the curse comes to fruition.
A great short story can be read in one afternoon. It is enjoyable and the romance is hot. Gage and Talia hit a snag, but with help find a way to fix their problem. The characters are wonderful and well-developed.
Game Clincher is the final book in the Tripple play Curse Novella series. Gage and Talia’s story does not disappoint. Gage’s mother, like a mother to the whole team, really wants grandbabies. So she and her friend plan a scheme to have their kids meet seemingly by accident. Talia has to clean and cook for Gage because her mother hurt her back, cough cough.
Gage is smitten. So the game of pretending he’s not the least bit interested starts.
An amusing finish to a fun series. I really enjoyed this trilogy. Read all three while relaxing on the weekend or at the pool or beach. A fun way to the end of baseball season. I highly recommend the whole series it will not disappoint.
I received an ARC copy of this book and I chose to review it. It is a great ending to this series. This book is well written and the characters are wonderful. I encourage you to take your time with this one. It is worth it. I am not a big sports book fan but this series are great.
Unlike the chance encounters in the first two novellas, Gage is introduced to Talia by his meddling mother, Barb, and her friend Lucia. Gage hires Lucia as his housekeeper unaware that she’s friends with his mother and plans on faking an injury that forces her daughter Talia to cover for her. While Gage initially isn’t interested, they quickly fall for each other. Unlike his friend, Gage doesn’t even care about the curse once he falls for Talia. I loved this novella. It was light and ready to read romance with just enough steam.
I enjoyed Game Clincher. I love that Gage’s mom was working behind the scenes to get him to be the third victim of the triple play curse. This was a fun story!
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary Advance Reader Copy.
Another fun and entertaining book to the Triple Play Curse series. The author once again brings strong likable characters and weaves a humorous romance with Gage fighting the curse and his mother’s meddling and determination to have grandchildren. She describes both her characters and scenes in detail and brings the story to life with her descriptive writing. It’s a sweet romance with a heartwarming story line. I loved this book/series and would highly recommend reading.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This was a very quick read. One that can be done over a lunch break. This is the third story of the Triple Play Curse. Once a teammate falls in love and becomes engaged or married, it means two more fellow players will fall. Well Barb Collier, Gage’s mom, is determined that her son will be the final one this season. She wants grandbabies!! Barb Collier is a cunning woman and boy does she work the curse to her benefit.
Talia and Gage have a delightful journey with a twist. I loved the multiple POV format of this book. The only downside for me was that it was so short. I hope that there is more to the series say the following year and Jason Denali gets a story.
This story should be read by someone over the age of 18 as there are some scenes that may not be appropriate for all.
With determined mothers like Barb and Lucia wanting their children married Gage and Talia don’t stand a chance.
The third book in the series was definitely a keeper of a read. The characters were a joy to read about and how they interacted with their mothers.
Talia is a good representation of being focused, driven and just a little blind to the whole picture of life.
Gage is the love’m and leave them until “those hips” captivate him then he will have to rethink his strategy.
Both these characters are focused on their careers and they will have to evaluate if there is room for change.
Love their story.
ONE OVER THE TOP ROMPING TREAT!!!
Batter up! I fell in love with this little jewel. It grab me so tight and didn’t let up until the last word. If you’re looking for a sweet, breathtaking, heartwarming, humorous, beating the odds, love and adoration enhanced read, then look no further. This little baby will rock you right along with the characters as their personalities transform and blend into the roles they were created for. Lori nailed this bad boy with all the twists and turns bringing us together for a show stopping love that goes distance. The characters are authentic, genuine and so realistic with depth and qualities that make it easy to relate. The scenes are so colorfully descriptive and detailed you have no problem interpreting each scenario as they play off one another catapulting this baby to life spectacularly. Lori’s unique talent and imagination weaves a tangled web, spinning a cocoon so tightly until everything else ceases to exist. Fantastic job Lori, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.
A steamy end to the triple play curse
Talia, a MBA student, and Gage, a major league baseball player, are unknowingly set up by their mothers. As the story progresses an agreement is reached, terms are changed, and getting over their fears is the only way toward a happy ending. Lori Ryan’s Game Clincher is a steamy end to the triple play curse and I enjoyed each quick read immensely.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
The Triple Play Curse has hit the Strikers baseball season and two of their players have fallen in love and gotten engaged, leaving the curse to strike one more teammate. When Barb Collier decides her son, Gage, should be the next to fall, there’s no power on earth or in heaven that can stop this meddling mother. Barb enlists the help of her married, middle-aged friend, Lucia, who agrees to interview for the job as Gage’s housekeeper, knowing Gage will jump to hire Lucia after the string of young, single female applicants Barb has prescreened for her son. Gabe thinks he in the clear from his meddling mom and the cursed curse until Lucia hurts her back and sends her daughter, Talia, to take care of things at Gabe’s.
If you love a good sports romance you’ll love this book. Humorous, flirty, heartfelt and sweet, these endearing characters pulled me into the story and held me captive as I devoured their story. This is a captivating home run you won’t want to miss!
