I can’t honestly say enough good things about this book, but I will try to narrow it down a bit for this review. I can see this whole series as a movie. I would wait with baited breath for each episode. It is a gripping experience, with emotional, suspenseful, mysteries and so much more. Game Changer is actually the second book in the Alterations Trilogy from Jane Suen. I had no idea that there was going to be another book, so was thrilled when I found out there is another after this one. I would highly recommend that you go back and start with book one before you dive into this one. Actually… maybe not read this review from here because it will spoil it…
If you read book one… This one picks up exactly…”One year, three months and two days after the fire destroyed Dr. Kite’s warehouse.” The fire is where book one left off. From here the story delves into the lives of the women that were in book one and Dr. Kite. It is written in a format where you get little glimpses, stories about where each character is at, and what they are doing, since the fire destroyed everything that Dr. Kite had on the chips that he implanted in the women.
We find out Dr. Kite is not doing so hot after the fire. He has kind of given up on life since his main project, which was his baby, has been destroyed. He moved away and is still in a funk. I want to like him though, not sure why? There was a feeling as if it was building into something with his character but then left off… Maybe a twist there?
“He looked at his rumpled pants, still full of creases from the day before, and the worn brown belt with the dull buckle at his waist, his crinkled, blue cotton shirt barely tucked in. Disgusted with himself, he quietly retreated, cursing his appearance, wishing he could change her first impression of him.”
Ellen is blown away when her pregnancy test came back positive. She actually finds herself good at being a single mom. She will stop at nothing to give her daughter the best life she possibly can. Her story also ended with an odd question or two in mind… Another twist coming?
“Thoughts swirled in her head. How can this be? Me, a mother? I lost weight, but I’m gaining something else- a baby!”
Then we have Gigi, I really enjoy her. She is discovering how amazing it is to be in true love and I was happy to see that she was having some peace. Her story was pretty open-ended so I could see where there will be more of her in the next novel.
“As she rounded the corner, Rex came into view, dressed in a plaid shirt, jeans, and work gloves. Her heart raced as she laid her eyes on him. Her man.”
Lilly, last but not least, is throwing herself into a new phase in her life. She has been training women for no one knows exactly, but I didn’t get a good vibe from the situation. Definitely did not get the full answers to my burning questions.
“She stood in the middle of the circle, surrounded by women. Pivoting slowly, Lilly looked around, locking eyes with each in a silent greeting. Altogether, an even dozen. An exclusive group.”
As these stories unfold you find them culminating into a lot of questions. What will come next? What will happen to each of them? Does all their separate lives have any ties other than their history with the chip? I can’t believe that this would be easy to end in just one more book, but bring it on Jane Suen. I will be impatiently waiting over here. J
Game Changer (Alterations Trilogy Book 2)
By Jane Suen
Game Changer is the second book in the Alterations Trilogy. I would really suggest that book one be read first as you really need to get the background on the characters in the book. I wasn’t surprised that I also enjoyed this book and to be honest if I was asked if I enjoyed book one or two the most, there is no way I could pick between them both, they are as good as each other. Game Changer for me follows quite nicely on from Alterations and we follow the same characters Lilly, Ellen and Gigi, and not forgetting Dr Kite. As with Janes other books this one is just as easy to follow and good luck in putting the book down once you start reading it, yes, it’s that good.
5 Star
Game Changer: Book 2 of the Alterations Trilogy by Jane Suen is the second book in the Alterations Trilogy. Game Changer by Jane Suen is book number two in the Alterations trilogy. Definitely read book one as this one starts shortly after. I enjoyed book one and I enjoyed this one as well. Jane has an uncanny ability to write interesting and intriguing books that not only entertain you but they aren’t long and drawn out. I love reading her books because they always seem to surprise me in someway. I didn’t even know there was going to be other books in this series so I was pleased to find out there was more. I enjoyed reading about the characters from book one and seeing the story progress. Overall I find the writing to be good and the story to be good. 4 star rating.
Game Changer is book 2 of the Alterations trilogy. This book picks up shortly after where book 1 ended. Dr. Kite is up to his old tricks and Gigi, Ellen and Lily are working through their new life. This story is definitely an original and the writing is great. The characters are very interesting. This is usually the kind of books that I read, but I really enjoyed it.
I give Game Changer: Book 2 of the Alterations Trilogy by Jane Suen, 4 stars.
*This review may contain spoilers from book 1.*
All three women got what they wanted. But what now? Is it too good to be true? They always say be careful what you wish for. And what of the doctor? Everything he ever worked for had been destroyed ad he was forced to flee. What will he do now?
This is a smaller book, but the story is so big. It was so nice to see what happens after the women get what they wanted. I could not stop reading to see what they are doing now. There are plenty of surprises that will keep you guessing until the end. It is so well written, you are quickly submerged into the stories and live a of these women. It feels like these are women you know.
I highly recommend this book and cannot wait to see where the final book in the trilogy will take us.
Game Changer is the second book in the Alterations Trilogy. This story was amazing. I really liked the past of this story. We had our characters from the previous story, Gigi, Ellen, Lily and Dr. Kite. I loved how Jane Suen wrote the characters with such love and passion. I personally like to watch characters grow with in a series. There have been choices made but will it bring them the end result they were looking for? Also what has Dr. Kite been up to all this time? I cannot wait to see what is in store for all the characters.
4 Stars
Game Changer is the second book in the Alterations series by Jane Suen. This is a very quick and easy read, full of suspense, drama, and some science fiction elements.
We met Ellen, Gigi, Lilly, and Dr. Kite in the previous book, and catch up with them again in this story just after the events of book one. After the fire destroyed Dr. Kite’s research, it seemed that all his hopes went up in flames. But, was everything destroyed? Is there a chance that he may be able to resurrect his implant experimentation?
Each of the women appear to be going from strength to strength- but I feel that there is a lot more to this story than meets the eye. But with some getting up to their old tricks, and others plotting revenge, this story had me avidly reading, trying to keep up and find out what was happening.
This was an interesting and thought-provoking story, and as with the first book, the plot was quite complex for such a short story. The story is told from several points of view, and I feel that maybe this detracted just a little from the overall storyline, especially considering the length of the book. I fell it would have worked a lot better in a longer novel.
The story is quite a unique concept and an enjoyable read. The story is set to continue in the next book, and the way it’s shaping up it has the potential to be amazing!
Thank you, Ms. Suen!

5-star review
Game Changer by Jane Suen is the second book in the Alterations series, I would strongly suggest reading book 1 first as this book follows directly where that one left off. I couldn’t wait to dive in to this book as I always look forward to Jane’s work and I couldn’t wait to find out answers to my questions. Her writing always pulls me right in with all of the detail, while this was a shorter read I still enjoyed it from the beginning until the very end. I love how these characters feel so real and relatable as they deal with every day challenges.
This series is one I would definitely recommend to others and I would also highly recommend all of Jane Suen’s other work as her stories are one of a kind and truly unforgettable!!
Game Changer is the second book of the Alterations Trilogy by Jane Suen and is a sci fi story of sorts. It is a very quick read, the same as the first but it holds you from start to finish. This book picks up where the first book left off and carries on in the same vein but has an under current of mystery and feels a tad sinister. As there is multiple characters with a story, reading the first book is essential or you will not know what is going on. The story is told in multiple POV’s so it gives an insight into each characters life. As this is a trilogy I expect everything that is coming will end in an explosive way. Looking forward to see what Jane has left in store for our characters.
Please read book 1 first. This should not be read as a stand-alone.
What I find super cool about this author is her quickness of situations. Meaning it’s not all long and drawn out. She gets to the point and moves on. The chapters alternate between characters and kept me entranced from beginning to end.
This is a little fantasy, a little futuristic and a little Dr Frankenstein all wrapped up into a quick paced trilogy.
Can’t wait for book three.

Game Changer is the second book in the Alterations series by Jane Suen. This series must be read in order to get the full effect of the character background and motivation behind the things these woman do. This book has a little bit of everything, suspense, mystery, action and romance. Dr. Kite makes a great villain and I keep wondering what he will think up next. The women are strong, Ellen, GiGi and Lily have changed their lives and started on the next part finding what they need to survive, Love success, revenge. I just can’t wait to see how this series ends.
Game Changer
The Alterations Trilogy
Book 2
By Jane Suen
This is a full length novel. Dealing with personal growth, love, weight loss and new career. This is not a standalone. You need to read book 1 first.
Gigi, Ellen and Lilly started a journey that has changed their lives. Having the warehouse burn down all of their lives have been tested. Can they adjust to what awaits them? Will it be better or worse for them? Read how they work through their trials.
Jane Suen has added to her trilogy. I have waited for this book for so long. It was worth the wait! Her story just got better. I love the strength these lady show. Now I can’t wait for book 3. This is a real page turner, it also toughest many feels.
Jane Suen’s Game Changer is the second book within the Alterations trilogy. This is a science fiction/fantasy/psychological novella featuring a story that will push your concept of what is possible and real versus what could be possible beyond our imaginations. This is about three women who are seeking change and building new lives. There is a lot for three characters, each with their own stories, to be compiled into this short novella. Overall, I thought this was a solid story.
Game Changer is the 2nd book in the Alterations Trilogy by Jane Suen, following Alterations. It should be read as a continuation of book 1, and would not do well as a stand alone. Jane Suen has an amazing imagination and her characters are always thrilling. It is a sci-fi Digergent style book, of mind and body altering technology. The first book drew me in from the description, and I wanted to continue the series to see what happens next. Similar to the first book, each chapter follows a different character, and seems to jump around, in individual storylines. These stories are always hard for me, as I have a hard time identifying with each character, as there is so little time spent with them at a time.
So this story follows the characters roughly a year or two after book one, and we see how they are managing after their life is altered in book one. Dr. Kite, after his lab is destroyed, is trying to rebuild his life. Gigi trying to find and hold onto true love. Ellen, who has a baby now, is trying to maintain her weight. And Lilly, who has started a new business. Its time to see if they are happy with their decision as life goes on. Cant wait to see what book 3 will bring.
This story is about the same three women from Alterations, book 1. Lilly, Ellen, and Gigi. Of course, Dr. Kite is here too. This story follows the women after they received their “alterations” from Dr. Kite in book one, and the side effects they experienced. More life changes for the women but there seems to be an under lying motive for one of the women in this book. The women use their experience with Dr. Kite to better their lives.
Suen’s writing is easy to read and easy to follow. This story has a more modern time feel to it, unlike the first book, which I felt was futuristic. The women characters are determined to find their happiness despite how they feel about Dr. Kite. Dr. Kite’s character goes through his own changes, but I don’t think the changes are good. I am looking forward to seeing where Suen takes these characters in the final book of this trilogy.
I definitely recommend this book, but only after reading book one.
Game Changer is the second book in the Alterations trilogy by Jane Suen and it picks up shortly after where the first book left off so I recommend reading this series in order.
I have read almost all of Jane Suen’s books and I have been impressed with every one. She has an ability to write stories with heart racing excitement, twists and turns all the while other pieces are heartfelt, real and tear inducing. You never know quite what you’re going to get from a Jane Suen book but you can be sure it won’t be disappointing.
Game Changer was an excellent continuation of book one as we continue to follow the three women in their endeavors after Dr. Kite’s interference in their lives. I feel that this trilogy is unique and unlike anything I’ve ever read, it is a short read, more of a novella but it packs a true punch in a smaller amount of pages without feeling rushed. I’m looking forward to the final book in this trilogy.
Game Changer by Jane Suen is the second book in the Alterations series. I recommend reading the first book first in order to get the full impact of what is going on in the story. This book picks up after the first and continues the stories of the nefarious Dr. Kite and the three women whose lives he changed. I enjoyed getting more in the story of Gigi, Lilly, and Ellen. I continued to hope the best for the women and that they would recover from their experiences with Dr. Kite. This book is again full of suspense and mystery. I wanted to know where the story was going and am curious as to where the last book in the trilogy will take their experiences.
Game Changer by Jane Suen
Stars-4
This is the second book in the Alterations trilogy. This picks up one year, three months, and two days after the fire. Dr. Kite, Ellen, Gigi, and Lilly are living their lives. All are facing challenges and new obstacles. Ellen is my favorite character from this series. She is resilient and has fought to become stronger. This story ends with important events looming. I can’t wait to read how everything ends!
Game Changer by Jane Suen is the second book in the Alterations Trilogy. I definitely recommend reading Alterations first. Game Changer involves mystery and drama. This book starts where book one ended. The story is told by the point of views of the different characters, so we get to see what they are all thinking and realize something is just not right. The girls are trying to move on after the effects of Dr. Kite’s experiments. Will they be able to move on? Or will they be changed forever?
Game Changer was just as good as the first and you will not be able to put it down. The characters are well developed. Her writing flows, is descriptive and keeps you engaged throughout the story. I am really looking forward to reading the next book in the trilogy.
