There are three things I know about New York so far: everybody is late for something, nobody has a freakin’ clue what sweet tea is, and King Kong himself is still alive and well and has taken the form of a growly blacksmith named Mac.
I love a grumpy hero, especially when the majority of his dialogue is grunts and eyebrow dancing. Mac doesn’t say a lot, but he was a sexy beast.
Poppy is a fish out of water, having left the south to strike out on her own in NYC. Being a true Northerner myself, I found Poppy’s southern family both charming and fascinating. It’s like reading about an entirely different culture, which Sylvie Stewart has convinced me I want to be a part of.
The tension was great, and the slow burn kept me flipping and pages again and again. The side characters added extra fabulousness to the story, and overall, I just loved it!

Manhattan will probably never be the Sam again after meeting Miss Poppy.
Her accidental meeting with a blacksmith hottie is off the charts hilarious- and a bit ironic as he proves to be a hard to reach artist.
Sassy, sweet, sexy, and full of different kinds of fire and awkward!

Game Changer by Sylvie Stewart. I loved this book and laughed until I spit my drink out! Game Changer is about Poppy James who has moved to New York from Georgia for her dream job of magazine publisher. New York is totally different from Georgia, they don’t know what Sweet Tea is, everyone is always in a hurry and people are grumpy. Enter Angus “Mac” McKinley the hot talented blacksmith who is as grumpy as he is hot and he’s not into giving interviews until he meets Poppy. If she doesn’t get this interview and it turn out well she won’t get her dream job! Sparks fly between Poppy and Mac so if she lays on the charm maybe she can get this interview. She kinda wants to figure out where this might go but Mac doesn’t understand a good ole Georgia girl who spends all her money on clothes and designer shoes. Will these two people who are totally different make a spark flying relationship work? Read Game Changer to find out!

This was a little different than expected. It wasn’t dual POV, we didn’t hear from Mac til the epilogue. There was drama, and a bit of suspense. I got angry over a few things that happened, mushy over others; great writing though.

They will show you that opposites can attract and an HEA could be within their reach. Check it out, I highly recommend this book.

When I want to laugh a lot I always pick a story by Sylvie Stewart. And this story with Poppy and Mac was one of the best so far. Not just funny, but the description of both Poppy and Mac.
When Poppy first saw Mac… I could see him myself. When they met outside the bookshop… I had to hold my hand over my mouth, I laughed so hard.
As a couple, later on… it was also a lot of chemistry between them and I can understand why Mac was curious of this southern girl.

How cute is Cookie? Seriously, adorable. Ugh, this was a fantastic read. From the first page I think you can tell I’m in love with Cookie, even when she isn’t the main character, that actually says a lot about how amazing the characters are when sides are so memorable. The storytelling is amazing and vibrant, truly transporting the reader into it.

Wowza!! I loved this book so much! I do not even know where to start. A must read!!!
One of my favorite things in the book is all the Cookie quotes at the beginning of each chapter.
Usually I have never heard half the songs that authors talk about in stories and I actually knew these! super plus!!
I live in GA (not Savannah) and am a transplant . I can relate to the southern way of things since I have been here for 15 years. I adore Poppy. Ms Stewart found a perfect way to make her southern without being backwoods or a bell. She is headstrong and sassy with quirky charm. I love these type of girls.
Grrrrrrrr – we all need a growl for Mac (the beast). strong silent and growly alpha. Really what else is there to say.

Ah, the brooding monosyllabic alpha hulk of a hero that was Mac as he silently reeked havoc on Poppy’s life.
Her warmth, sweetness, and down to earth personality was what finally wore down Mac’s cold exterior.
I loved the way Poppy treated her exasperating family and friends with respect, love, and self control. Even her single minded ex was treated gently in spite of his thick skinned attitude towards her.
Mac’s back and forth behavior got tiresome after the third time he ghosted Poppy. She was always the one to rebuild the bridges that he burned which was a bit annoying, yet showed the depths of her heart and her strength.
Written in a witty and humorous style that was easy to follow and entertaining to read!

Poppy is on the adventure of her life as she leaves Savannah behind and welcomes Manhattan as her new home. Off on her own one Friday night she stumbles upon Mac a mountain of a man with a top notch brood and a force she seems to have gotten stuck in. Soon Poppy finds out this mountain of smoldering man is a sought after blacksmith that the magazine she works for is trying to interview. So as they say let the games commence. This book has it all from sweet romance to undeniable heat. As well as laugh out loud moments and times when your heart is absolutely breaking. There is suspense and deceit as well making this book that so intriguing you can’t put it down. I was so sad to see it end. I wanted more Mac and Poppy. This is definitely a must read! Fabulous writing I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!

Poppy leaves her life in Georgia behind in order to accept a new job in New York City. Trying to maneuver not only the streets of the Big Apple, but also the cutthroat magazine world has her out of her element and trying to fit in. Enter Angus McKinley Jr, better known as Mac. He’s an artist who’s medium is iron and is as crusty as the blacksmiths we’ve read about in historical romances. He’s had a lot to deal with in his life and has no filter and no patience. He’s surly, beastly, and hot, with a thing for Poppy that he’s trying his hardest to deny. Sparks fly at first sight (and what a sight), but he’s not the type for involvement or relationships, preferring to be left alone. This book had a lot of laugh out loud moments for me. I needed to know what was going to happen next, and whether or not Poppy and Max would get together.
This was my first book by Ms. Stewart, and so far, I’m a fan. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the characters. It’s funny, charming, and easy to read. I definitely recommend this story if you’re a fan of rom-coms.

This is a new author to me, and I will certainly be looking out for her work in the future. Poppy is a fun and feisty character, who is sent to interview Mac who is a moody and silent man, for a new magazine. These two had met briefly before, but now Poppy begins to understand what Mac’s grunts and facial expressions mean, and the chemistry between them is undeniable. These two are total opposites, yet so perfect together. This is a beautifully written story which is a slow burn and is emotional, humorous, witty, and totally entertaining throughout. I highly recommend this for all.

I took me a bit to get into this story, but the steam that began to rise between Poppy and Mac kept me turning the pages. I loved Mac’s strong, silent personality and how Poppy’s more open innocence worked with that. With a couple hitches in the process, as well as past histories, these two deserved the HEA together.

**Warning** Do NOT decide to start reading this book while eating anything! You are likely to shower other occupants in the immediate vicinity with your snack of choice or worse, end up needing a good thump on the back to dislodge whatever you just inhaled because you suddenly started laughing so hard you were unable to swallow first!! And definitely, do not read this book in a public area since snort laughter is frowned on even if you could possibly explain it to complete strangers!
Poppy and Mac are total opposites but they complement each other perfectly. She is gregarious and he is dour but they just gel.
Did I like this book? I LOVED IT!

Fair warning: don’t read this on a plane surrounded by strangers. You might end up being choked by suppressed laughter. The first part of the story is just plain hilarious. But of course it’s not just a tap dance towards a happy ending. This book gives you all the feels from laughter, swooning, anticipation, longing, annoyance, grief, ugly crying and anger. Don’t underestimate the good feelings you’ll get from a good anger tantrum. I’m sure you will want to throw your Kindle at the wall at some point, but please don’t. You know you will want more from this author.
