This was the best Science Fiction book that I have ever read. I could not put it down. An absolute blast. The most fun I have ever had reading a book. I do not say this lightly either. You cannot go wrong with this series, especially this first book.
This was a book I couldn’t put down. If I wasn’t a full-time dad and a full-time author, I’d have read this book in a span of four hours. Yes, I’m a fast reader. Yet, it took me three days and all I wanted to do was get back to reading this epic novel.
I’m not going to give anything away, but I loved this book more than words could ever say. Take it from me, get this book! 🙂
Busy but going nowhere.
Looking forward to the next in series
Very good story and am waiting for the rest to go on sale
Non stop action!
If you enjoyed “Starship Troopers” or like early SF authors like Heinlein or Kornbluth, you will enjoy this military SF. Not having read the author’s bio, I don’t know how close his association is with the military, but it reads as if he has been there and done that.
Oddly enough, I think stories like these are really about relationships and trust as literal trials by fire strip away pretense and show what someone is made of and the strength of their devotion to those who depend on them.
Not for those looking for a cozy read-more like Sat. afternoon at the movies when we were little.
First person account of dropping in on a mini rebellion at the edge of the galaxy to eliminate the problem.
Turns out that rebels had joined up with two other groups and staged a massive surprise attack on the Legionnaires and the associated Republic Army.
Of course the Legionnaires did far better than the odds and were alive at the end of the battle, unlike the attackers.
But there was a command problem. Many officers were killed and the senior officer was placed in a medical coma after giving two battlefield promotions. A third officer claimed that he too was promoted as was in charge. As a political officer, rather than a military officer, he claimed to have guidance of exactly what to do. He claimed that he could identify the good guys but seemed to be a control freak who trusted no one but himself and made up stories to enhance his position as supreme chief.
Lots of fighting. Lots of blood, alien and human. Hard feelings about the incompetent self-proclaimed top-guy.
External forces join in and they are supporting the rebels.
Just when there is no ammunition left, the Republic fleet shows up, evacuates a few survivors and then annihilates anyone left in the area.
Awards are handed out to the survivors (and the incompetent top-guy gets most of the medals).
One of the few surviving Legionnaires quits the award ceremony and goes to the first pub he finds. An old retired Legionnaire tells him his story.
Times never change. Live to fight another battle, see more adventure and stay alive.
Leejes don’t give up.
Even while trite, the action level and first person narrative keeps you turning pages to see the next twist and feel the horror of war.
Good entertainment. 4 stars.
It’s an honor to know and be friends with two talented authors who care to put out such quality writing. They care as much for their readers as they do about putting out an excellent story. If you liked Clone Wars even a little bit, you’ll love the heck out of Galaxy’s Edge Season One.
Galaxy’s Edge
By: Jason Anspach, Nick Cole
Narrated by: R.C. Bray
Series: Galaxy’s Edge Series, Book 1-2
Looking for a space adventure with real heroes, great fights, aliens, unpredictable situations, great characters, a bit of humor, world class military jerks, battle brothers, and a terrific plot and world building? These are books 1 and 2 of the series together for you with the great R. C. Bray to narrate! Things don’t get much better!
really enjoyed this series starter. not really a ground breaking plot, but it was a very enjoyable read, with good characters being developed. Only complaint, I didn’t like the way this book ended. Would have preferred to have it closed out more relevant to this book.
Like Star Wars before it got screwed up with cutesy crap and social justice garbage.
This book grabbed me right from the start. Great characters, dialogue, and world building. It’s a must read in military science fiction.
This is an extremely well written book. In fact, it reads like watching a movie.
Good writing style. I liked the character build up and look forward to reading the sequels.
Booooooring!….one long overly detailed action sequence. So monotonous I just couldn’t keep reading a real page waster.
This is the Star Wars we deserve! Everything about this books takes me back to my childhood, good old fashioned space opera. It represents everything I love about science fiction.
Nick and Jason knocked it out of the park with this series! If you love character driven sci-fi, you have to check out these books!
