I’ve had a full life: wife, mom, divorcee…and then alien property. All of that’s changing now that I’m on the ice planet. Here, I’m free again, and I’ve found love once more. Vaza’s older and a widower, but he knows how to make a woman smile both in the furs and out of them. Everyone around me has a baby in their arms or in their belly, though, and it’s hard to be the only one without. I love … I love nothing more than being a mama…and when I hear there’s an orphan at the Icehome camp, I want to adopt him. Vaza and I have so much love to give, but will an alien baby love us back?
(Psst! This story does not stand alone. Start with LAUREN’S BARBARIAN! You’ll be glad you did!)

I liked the story! It was just too short and I don’t know, more about the baby than the romance and that’s just not my thing.
Oh, how I have missed Ruby Dixon while I’ve been absent from the book community.
This was the perfect novella to get me immersed back into this creative, intertwined series. As you can tell by the title, this one follows sweet motherly Gail. She has been the mother figure to all the gals at the first barbarian colony but when she receives news of an orphaned child at the new Icehome group, she knows it is her only chance to start her own family with Vaza.
It is a super sweet, feel good read about love and family. If you haven’t started this series yet, you are truly missing out.
3 stars!

First, I don’t think these are stand-alone books in the series. I also think you need to read at least book 1 and 2 from IPB to get the gist of things here. I read books 1-4 in IPB, but I still feel I missed a lot going into this series. I started this series thinking it would be stand-alone, since I hadn’t read all of IPB.
Well, there really wasn’t anything “wrong” with this, but it was too simplistic of a story for my taste. A short novella that, for lack of better words, was a bit blah. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the characters, but it was such a simple story, nothing too deep with it. Nothing to get too involved or obsessed with the story. Definitely wouldn’t want to re-read this.
I loved reading this book and it was worth the wait. Gail and Vaza is one of my favorite couples in this entire series and I loved seeing them both get a second chance at happiness. Vaza adore his Shail aka Gail and dotes on her all the time. They are an older couple on the ice planet, but let me tell you that age is just a number, because these two can’t get enough of each other. These two agree to take Z’hren, the orphaned baby from Icehome as their own and raise him. This book was very emotional, with all the back story of Gail and Vaza, all the loss and suffering they both went through to get to this point.
This was a safe read with a relationship goal couple for sure. And it shows that even when life continually brings you down, that sometimes there is a light at the end of the journey. These two totally deserved the beautiful and heartwarming hea they got. Beautiful book, this one totally has my heart. Thank you Ruby Dixon for writing this wonderful story for Gail and Vaza.
Gail’s Family was a sweet novella that warmed my heart. It was a quick read but fit the story perfectly. It had teary eyed moments, sexy times, moments that had me laughing and times that just hit me right in the heart.
Gail and Vaza open their hearts to make their family bigger. And it was beautiful to watch as they adjust to their new life.
Being a bit of an older woman like Gail, I found her story quite intriguing. (However, I can’t say that I would choose to take on raising a child at this point in my life!) I absolutely adores Vaza; he is an incredible mate for her. Little Z’hren reminds me of my own first child who was also fussy for quite some time. I was sure glad to see him the center of a happy home though! He definitely deserved a couple of doting parents. And I’m especially glad that they chose to stay with his clan, who had done so much just to keep him alive. Can’t wait to read further installments in this series!
This is a easy to read story, that has a haunting sort of read to it. Now it is a bit whimsical that boarders the realistic story of the struggles from the shadows of a past to what is reality for her new life.
It is worth the read even as it is a short read. This was a new author for me and has me hooked!
