Mercy Wheeler and Gabriel Easton’s sordid tale continues in Gabriel Fallen as Mercy finds herself heading down a dangerous path. Gabriel has made an art of dangling what I’m most desperate for in front of me, what he knows I can’t refuse, no matter the cost. In this case, that cost continues to be me.He is still a scoundrel, but I’m starting to see something more. And while our bargain is proving … bargain is proving advantageous in ways I never anticipated, the risks that come with being associated with a man like him are becoming painfully clear.
But how much longer before this arrangement with Gabriel costs me everything I am?
This is the second book in the Dirty Empire series and should be read after Sweet Mercy.

Nina definitely writes addicting reads! But this should be illegal with the way things ended, that was an absolute killer. Everything about Mercy and Gabriel is FIREEEEEEEEEE, I can’t get enough of these two.
I love how easy it is to devour this book, their story just begs for your attention from beginning to end. You can definitely see things changing between these two as they keep their arrangement up. In comes the jealousy, which normally bugs the crap out of me. But I haven’t had an issue so far with it in this series.
Gabriel Fallen was such a quick read and thank goodness we don’t have to wait long for the final book cause seriously that ending was not OK.
The mafia aspect is still a little bit lower than what I’ve read in other books, but I’m really not complaining too much. There’s definitely more than there was in the first book. But I think we’re just reaching the tip of the iceberg.
Still enjoyed the heck out of this one!
**not a standalone.
**ends with a cliffhanger
Nina West
Whew! What a way to end the book on that kinda banger!
In this next installment in the series, we see a little more of a glimpse into Gabriel’s life and how he and his brother are trying to do better. Things are dug into a little deeper but we still get the same great characters from the first book as we continue on.
I enjoyed so much more seeing a softer, more generous side of Gabriel than we did in the last book. He still has his moments of course, but you can see how he’s started to fall for Mercy even more than he did before.
And that ending, cliffhanger! Make sure to grab the next one, I know I’m diving in right away!
4.5 STARS REVIEW
Adult, Contemporary Romance, Erotic, Suspense, Mafia
First Person, DUAL-POV
This is book #2 of the Dirty Empire series and it cannot be read as a standalone. It does end in a cliffhanger.
Contains issues and situations some may find triggering.
MY THOUGHTS
It just gets better!!!
Avoiding spoilers here, but that ending… OMG!!!!
Combustible love!!!
33/35 STARS – 4.5 STARS (between 31.5 stars and 33 stars)

Action 4/5 Angst 3/5 Darkness 3/5 Humor 0/5 Romance 5/5 Suspense/Mystery 4/5
Would I recommend? Yes, for all readers of twisted romance!
Would I re-read this book/series? Yes!
Would I read more from the author? Definitely!!!
WHAT HAS REALLY WORKED FOR ME
Addictiveness: 5/5 I have read book one and two on the same day almost in one sitting. This is how hooked I have been. As addictive as chocolate!!!
Character: hero 5/5, heroine 5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 5/5, real 5/5 The just became better and more complex.
Mercy here struggle with her conscious and what is right or wrong. Something very natural for all the changes that have happened in her life. I like her and her personality. She is not a pushover.
Gabriel was the star in this one for me. How much he has changed and have been trying to evolve was really great. Really looking forward to see more of him.
Secondary characters Caleb and Michelle, maybe?
Villain/antagonists In this type of book there are so many suspects that we never know who is the biggest villain. I mean, with that shocking ending… would you try to guess it?
I love them all!!!
Cover: art 4/5, title 5/5, color-font 4/5, subtitle 1/5, background 2/5 buy 4/5 I’m obsessed with book covers. I love to find snippets of the stories within the art. I always try to be true to myself, I buy so many books because of the cover and I have skipped many because of not very appealing art. Covers are part of the experience for me and I do like to understand them. This one still felt too generic for me. I wanted more connections to the story. I would buy this book by its cover, but I would need to read the blurb.
Freshness: 4.5/5 Original! It is so hard to make contemporary romance feels unique. Ms. West has been spot on here. It felt fresh and something I haven’t really read before. As fresh as mint tea when you are dealing with a bad cold!
Plot: believable 4.5/5, conflict 5/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 5/5, enjoyment 5/5, opening 4/5, pace 5/5, setting 5/5, subplots 5/5, twists 5/5 Good opening with a shocking ending (cliffhanger). Superb plot, with well written dialogues and great pace. Simple but realistic setting, a few really good subplots with a shocking twist. High level of enjoyment!
OMG! What was that ending! I almost threw my kindle away, when I figured I still didn’t have the third book to read.
Romance: believable 5/5, chemistry 5/5, description 5/5, development 5/5, steam 4.5/5 Explosive! Panty-wetter!!! Squirming in your sit type of read. This couple is hot and Gabriel is swoon worthy. Hot romance!!!
Writing Style: 5/5 Amazing writing by the author. Characters, plot, romance, smut, it has everything. Oh, in a very clean, cohesive writing too. Work of a wordsmith!!!
WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER
Because I try to be very analytical and I don’t really believe in perfection…
I mean, that ending was torture…
You MAY read this because you follow the author; you SHOULD read this because you like twisted romance; you MUST read this because it is unique!!!
And the epic story of Gabriel and Mercy continues, and can I saw it absolutely left me speechless and wanting more!!! Nina West just keeps surprising me, Gabriel Fallen picks up right where Sweet Mercy left off, we are back to the world where Gabriel is determined to get everything he wants.
Mercy is back to being in Gabriels hands, he hold in his hands what she needs and she will do anything for. This book was fill os suspense and angst that will have your kindle on fire, Gabriel had me wanting so much more. I just couldn’t put this book down for even a second, I started this so anxious, and ended the book screaming at my kindle wanting part 3 asap.
This series is A MUST READ!!! Gabriel will own your whole heart!!!
I love a alpha male that only has a soft spot for his woman! This book was a page turner that I really enjoyed. The banter between Mercy and Gabriel is so much fun! I can’t wait for the next book!
5 GABRIEL STARS!! OMG….this series is killing me….GIVE ME MORE!! Gabriel and Mercy will take you on one wild ride and believe me you want to go. I am loving this series, this authors words are like glue and will stick with you. Read this series….so GOOD.
I’ve already shared my thoughts on Sweet Mercy, the first book in Nina West’s Dirty Empire series. Gabriel Fallen is book two and is, if you can believe it, more intense than the first. It’s just as angsty and sexy but now that the Mercy and Gabriel are getting to know each other better, stakes are higher and hearts are at risk. If you haven’t read the first book, I’d suggest doing that and then coming back here for my thoughts on the second book – I don’t want anything accidentally being spoiled for you!
I mentioned in my review of Sweet Mercy that I wasn’t a fan of Gabriel. He was far too controlling and, even though he treated Mercy with respect, he seemed to think everything should be handed to him, including Mercy. She has spunk and a spine, even in the face of the son of a very dangerous man, so she doesn’t really allow him to walk all over her. That said, she has no real choice but to go along with his demands because he can help her father, who’s in jail for murder even though he never meant to kill anyone. (You following?) You can tell, though, that he’s starting to fall for Mercy and that is solidifying his feelings that he and his brother have got to get out of the family business. It’s sort of like when the Grinch’s heart grew three sizes if, you know, the Grinch was a very sexy young man whose father is an imprisoned mob boss.
Speaking of wanting to get out of the family business – I actually quite enjoyed that part of the story. It added an interesting layer to the drama as the reader (along with Gabriel and his brother, Caleb) doesn’t really know who to trust. And making a mistake about who to trust? That kind of mistake can have permanent and fatal consequences.
I have to say I’m so glad that I read these books so close to the publication date of book three (Dirty Empire releases on September 15) because OH MY GOD THE CLIFFHANGER. West’s novels can be read as one big novel as each picks up directly where the other left off (at least, that’s the experience thus far) and thank goodness because I am freaking the fuck out about what happened at the end. Just. WHAT??? Also – I was relying on the next book to wrap everything up (no idea if it’ll be in a nice bow or if things will go completely off the rails) BUT this trilogy is now going to be a quartet. I don’t know if my nerves can handle it.
Gabriel Fallen was just as addictive and steamy (oh so steamy) as Sweet Mercy and even though I’m still struggling with my thoughts on Gabriel, I’m completely into the story Nina West is telling and I cannot wait to read what’s next in Dirty Empire.
*A copy of this novel was provided by the author via Valentine PR in exchange for review consideration. All opinions are honest and my own.*
What an explosive follow-up to Book 1. I loved the first book, but this one was even better for me!
The story was again told from Mercy and Gabriel’s POV, but in this book, I felt like I learned even more from him just like Mercy did. He has given her another proposition to consider, and she does better than that, she accepts it. It might be a way for her to finally free her father. At the same time, Gabriel is trying to find his own freedom.
Mercy has always said she doesn’t want to know his family business, but her curiosity gets the best of her. She soon realizes how dangerous the family can be, but she can’t seem to let him go. The electricity between these two gets even hotter if that is possible, but I also saw them falling for one another, even if they don’t want to admit it.
I literally read this book in one sitting. It was still full of steam, but there was more suspense added to this one. The ending….WOW!!! I am on pins and needles seeing where the story goes from here!!!!
If I thought I was hooked after Sweet Mercy, now I am completely hooked! I can not wait for the Dirty Empire. I am SO happy I don’t have to wait!. Gabriel is everything you could want in a bad guy and but it is so awesome when the big, bad guy realizes he has found the the girl that will change his life. Mercy has Gabriel wrapped around her finger although I am not sure she’s really happy or not! I need the ending like yesterday!!!!
Words that I will try and put down in this review are nothing compared to the feeling in my heart that I have about these two characters. I am In love with this series and I am hoping the out come in the 3rd book will prove what I feel in my heart .. BUT on to book 2 ..
Mercy and Gabriel both cannot tell each other what they are starting to feel deep down in there hearts and I truly believe there soul because until they truly TRUST each other the LOVE they each feel will NOT be able to shine through. And if the girls from Empire don’t stop showing up in his bed or at the club with there side comments it will NEVER happen.
There are so many obstacles they need to over come before Mercy does trust him but he is trying and doing things that she doesn’t even ask for .. car, money, job, lawyer that she doesn’t know what to make of it. She has never had anyone ever treat her this way but when he makes it so easy for her to get to her dad she knows what she is doing will be wrong in her dads eyes but is starting to feel right in her heart. Whether she realizes it or not she is falling for him .. hook, line and sinker.
Can Mercy see her dad, pass her finals and hold her heart together all the while Gabriel is trying to sort out his own family drama so he can prove to her he is going legit .. FOR HER !!
OMG. Bring on book 3 NOW .. PLEASE !! Loved it !! Love Nina West !!
This is part 2 of a trilogy. I read it in a matter of a few short hours. It’s quite intriguing and whole lot of sexy.
I love these amazing characters because they are well developed and are continuously progressing into their role. I just can’t wait to see the conclusion for Gabriel and Mercy.
Told in a dual POV. I highly recommend these books.
A second volume where the author goes further, not only in terms of the characters and their somewhat unhealthy relationship, but also in terms of the plot with Gabriel’s affairs and prison life. I appreciated that Gabriel opened the eyes on the feelings he feels towards Mercy even if she remains blind and stubborn in his motivations. The story is rich and searing and the outcome leaves the reader speechless …
This series just got a whole lot more intense in both emotion and circumstance. Picking up where we left off in Sweet Mercy, Gabriel is more determined than ever to protect Mercy and those she loves while he’s slowly losing his heart to the feisty woman. Business dealings have been put into play with brother Caleb by his side and Mercy can’t be a distraction. Until she is.
It’s a bit of race against time as the screws are tightened on the Easton brothers and they decide to handle the ‘family business’ and the desire to get out of it once and for all, their way. Nina West perfectly juxtaposes Gabe’s determination to free himself of his father’s crooked ways with his inability to stop himself from falling hard for Mercy. Their fiery nature with one another is fun to watch as Mercy still denies her feelings and Gabriel tries his hardest to convince her that he’s worth the risk.
There is plenty to absorb as Mercy and Gabriel burn up the sheets and tables and desks and pools with their undeniable chemistry, which is off the charts hot. And then at the same time we get to start figuring out the complicated puzzle that is the family Easton right along with Mercy and wonder with her what it might cost her to love Gabriel completely.
It’s a wonderful story that is filled with all kinds of ferocity as plans are put into motion and hearts are suddenly full of life. With one heck of an ending that has me clamoring for the last book in this well-written and exciting series, I happily give Gabriel Fallen another 5 big stars. KA Tucker has shown us another side to her genius and I for one am loving every minute.
‘Gabriel Fallen’ is the second book of the best selling trilogy ‘ Dirty Empire’ by Nina West. Told in dual Perspectives , this trilogy has officially become one of my top reads of all time!!
I think I am addicted . No, I am definitely addicted! This book was so amazing and marvelous! There were entertaining parts and the vulnerable parts. I loved being a part of journey where Gabriel falls on his ass for a woman who is his perfect match! This book had all the feels and I am definitely adding this to my top reads list!
Gabriel went into this relationship with Mercy , thinking that he can just get her out of his system. But that is not what happens at all. The bad boy of all time is falling for a woman and he himself has no idea. I loved the strength Mercy had. She was willing to do anything to help her father and in her eyes , she had sold herself to the devil for that. But what she didn’t expect was to fall for him.
These two are the best characters ever and I already can’t wait for the conclusion of this series!! I know it’s going to be mind-blowing! A definite read for all the romance lovers out there!
My Review (review copy provided)
https://triciaciak.blogspot.com/
4.5 stars!
I may just need a minute to not throw my computer across this room while I type this review! Holy crap I did not expect the book to end like that. I couldn’t wait to read about going to Vegas and then BAM! I can’t wait to get my hands on book three.
Mercy really starts to realize what she has gotten herself into. When a book opens with, “Gabriel is my father’s only hope” if that doesn’t grab you I don’t know what will? That opening sentence really sat with me for a while. Mercy tries so hard to be strong, to hate Gabriel, but as much as she pushes him he pulls her in. He makes more and more offers she can’t deny and gets herself in deeper and deeper. While Mercy is trying to fight off her feelings for Gabriel, Gabriel starts feeling more than he ever has with a woman.
Gabriel won’t let Mercy go he does everything in his power to keep her, we slowly get to see him fall for Mercy, and by the end of the book even though he doesn’t come right out and say you know she has his heart. Mercy unfortunately doesn’t believe the arrangement is more than that, so Gabriel needs to convince her.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, from the smoking hot chemistry, seeing a romance evolve to the family “business” and mob interactions, it was a page-turner and has me wanting more. I’m dying to see what will happen next!
In this second book of her Dirty Empire series, Nina West continues the love story between Gabriel and Mercy. As Sweet Mercy shows, though, so much can go wrong between these two, and you find yourself holding your breath, waiting for something terrible to happen.
Gabriel wants out of his father’s drug business, but of course it isn’t that easy. Sharks on one side, vipers on the other–the only person he can trust is his brother Caleb. As he comes to include Mercy in that tight circle, you begin to feel optimistic.
This book focuses on two things: developing Mercy and Gabriel’s relationship and building the ever-present tension in Gabriel’s world. I was hooked on Mercy and Gabriel in the first book, and my devotion got even more intense with this one.
And then–AND THEN–there is the cliffhanger. I gasped out loud. Even though I knew Nina West would do something awful, she lulled me into a sense of warmth and contentment. Silly me.
Oh, and if you like your sexy times hot and delicious, Gabriel is here to deliver. Bless.
Now pardon me while I wait anxiously for the last book in the trilogy.
This is the second book in the Dirty Empire series, and the continuation of Garbriel, and Mercy’s story. This book continues from book one, with Gabriel still holding all the cards with Mercy, and her father. This was another great read, the characters have explosive chemistry, and I was kept glued to the pages. This is intense, dark, twisted, suspenseful, dramatic, steamy, and emotional. I can’t wait to read the next book!
Oh hell no! The cliffhanger was just freaking mean!!!!
Gabriel fallen was so exciting to read. The plot thickened with Gabriel, his families, all that happened in his past and it’s wasn’t pretty. Not if Mercy finds out what her captor was involved with … she might be running for the hills. I can’t wait! I think the final book will be actions packed. Gabriel and Caleb are trying to move on of their lives but it will come with a cost
The relationship between Gabriel and Mercy continues to build. Mercy’s erect wall starting to come down and if I know any better Gabriel has fallen head over heal and Mercy’s not much further behind. I mean how could you not? The man is gorgeous, talented but most importantly he is protective, kind, caring. A bit caveman but absolutely SWOONS. The chemistry is explosive and don’t even get me going on the sex scenes. Holly hotness!!!!
This series is absolutely addictive. I’m in love with Nina West and her alter ago. Bring on book 3!!!
Didn’t see that coming…
I knew Gabriel had fallen. I knew Mercy was fighting her own descent even before starting this book.
I never expected the ending though. That is one sure fire way to leave a girl hanging.
Gabriel Fallen is naughty in its plot but so so sweet in its core. He may be the crime boss’ son but he is so much more. Mercy judged without proof. But now that she truly knows, she seems to be handling it much better.
However, the ending is truly a beginning and there are a lot of unanswered questions.
Another great story by Miss West, I read it in one sitting! I couldn’t put it down.
