Wereraccoon Nicole Taylor, a recent Quantico graduate, is eager to prove herself. She’s been assigned to work with oh-so-yummy field agent and werebear Dominic Tartan to catch a therianthrope serial.Dom doesn’t know what to make of the sexy recruit he’s been tasked to train. Half the time he wants to ditch her, the other half of the time he wants to kiss her. Nicole struggles with the urge to … urge to sock him one or jump his bones.

I adore this series so when I seen this one I had to scramble in. This one centers around Nicole and Dominic with a fascinating storyline. She threads humor into this too so that it is one that with the other elements delights the reader. Catching the bad guys with the drama in this one like no other. The heat that simmers though too between the two as they work together that little piggy better watch out to not get burnt. When done with this one a little sad because I so enjoyed being there.
While I’ve read every book in this hilarious series, it’s my opinion, that the book stands fine by itself. But you’ll probably want to go back and read the rest of the books in the series because they rock, and you’ll want to find out more about all the various characters that make up this unique shifter town.
Our main characters, Mr. Hot, hot, hot ….. Senior Agent FBI man, Dominic Tartan, and Special Agent, (Yeah, she’s special, as in wereraccoon special. And just like one of those little bandits, she can pick a lock in no time flat), Dr. Nicole Taylor. He’s gruff, and she’s a bit klutzy, at least around him. Things soon heat up. Both the chemistry between the two, and bodies popping up. Yep, someone’s not behaving.
Things just get better when you add in the dynamics of returning to Nicole’s hometown of Peculiar. Parents, ex-boyfriends, ex-girlfriends, possible killers, wacko survivalists, and a few other quirky individuals to keep things interesting, or embarrassing, depending on who you ask.
Furred Lines made me smile, laugh, cry and cheer. It also managed to surprise me a time or two. The story flowed well, and the characters have a depth, that makes them real. I loved this book so much, I went out and bought my own copy as soon as it released.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good laugh, and a town full of shapeshifters with their mystery.
Welcome back to Peculiar, Missouri. A small town in the Ozarks of about 2000 residents. The residents are mostly therianthropes with a few humans, couple of witches and who knows what else lurks with the area.
Nicole Taylor, a racoon shifter, is a recent graduate of the Quantico FBI Academy. She has a fancy degree in Psychology that will help her in her work. She is paired with a senior field officer from the Kansas City Office. Special Agent Dominic Tartan is a handsome bear shifter tasked with solving a potential serial killer case and integrating the new field agent. The little Piggy Killer seems to be focusing on shifters.
They head off to Peculiar where the latest abduction has occurred and this is Nicole’s home town. Sherriff Sidney Taylor, the local authority, is Nicole’s father and they are invited to stay at her parent’s home while solving the case.
This case is personal it involved family and friends. Nicole or Puddin as her parents call her is equally attracted to and frustrated with her FBI partner. She must walk a fine line between field agent, local residents, parents, former beaus and a killer.
This is another fine mystery that has fun and funny elements, a good romance and lots of suspense. Don’t start this book if you don’t have the time to read it, I could not put it down. I just had to know who and what was threatening Peculiar. I loved the comments about undereye concealer, being a racoon shifter, so funny. A few twists and turn and laugh right out loud moments.
ARC – I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
Right out of Quantico and Nicole’s first case is right in the middle of her hometown.
It is not too bad, because she gets to work w/ yummy Dom, a bear shifter.
They are both in pursuit of a serial killer.
Because it is her hometown, Nicole is extra invested in solving this case.
Her family and friends are in danger.
Not to mention, she is trying to fight her attraction to Dom, but she is going to lose this fight.
Will Nicole + Dom be able to stop the serial killer ?
Will Nicole + Dom both own up to their attraction ?
I loved the storytelling + the characters
Another wonderful visit to Peculiar, if you ignore the murders, guns, crackpots, and human haters. Nicole or Puddin as the sheriff calls her (dad’s nickname) has returned home with her hot bear shifter FBI partner to investigate a serial murder. She’s advantaged by knowing most of the citizens and already having their trust and disadvantaged by being too well known by the citizen and the local police. The fact that she’s drooling over her partner and has to keep it professional just adds to the challenge.
The characters are funny, unique, and just like humans sometimes bad guys. Is she going to be able to get past her flirty partner, the dangerous characters, and her lack of experience to solve the case?
I love visiting old friends and catching up on them as well as meeting new ones. Another winner you can enjoy even if it is your first but be aware you’re gonna want to read more from this fun shifter world.
I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
Nicole was a newly minted FBI agent, held a doctorate in clinical psychology and was a raccoon shifter
When an horrific trail of clues leads her close to home, she faces life, love, adulting in and around parents and working through romance
Now if she and those close to her can survive the efforts of a bunch if doomsday preppers and a serial killer case and suspects, there might be an after, even if it’s not always happy
The Editing leaves much to be desired. I enjoyed the story. It’s an entertaining paranormal romantic mystery. I also like how in each book, the author concentrates (& tells the story) through the “mouth” of a different character. The bad editing was very distracting. I read the books one after the other so I was able to see some glaring errors from one book to the next. There were also many sentences where words were missing or you could see that the author started a sentence one way & then changed the sentence structure but did not delete all of the original words.
Please: the books would be so much better & I’d probably be interested in buying some of the other series if the proofreading & editing was better.
