In this extraordinary fantasy epic, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Dresden Files leads readers into a world where the fate of the realm rests on the shoulders of a boy with no power to call his own… For a thousand years, the people of Alera have united against the aggressive and threatening races that inhabit the world, using their unique bond with the furies—elementals of … the furies—elementals of earth, air, fire, water, wood, and metal. But in the remote Calderon Valley, the boy Tavi struggles with his lack of furycrafting. At fifteen, he has no wind fury to help him fly, no fire fury to light his lamps. Yet as the Alerans’ most savage enemy—the Marat horde—return to the Valley, Tavi’s courage and resourcefulness will be a power greater than any fury, one that could turn the tides of war…

I love the furies series!
This book starts one of the best series I’ve ever read.
I love all of the books in this series, I wish he would write some more of them.
This was a fabulous series! The characters are well crafted and the story is fast paced and will grab you and never let you go. Well worth the read.
Great series! I love Jim Butcher!
This book was extremely entertaining. I loved the story and was left eager for the next one.
Loved the book! The story was non-stop engrossing action and I hated when I had to put it down and work!
One of my favorite authors. Everything he writes is unique. I own this in hardcover and bought the kindle version just to have something good to read at my fingertips.
love this series
This is a fantasy coming of age and a retelling of a lost prince being found through his trials and tribulations. I enjoyed the characters, the challenges and the coming of age and maturity of the primary character. I would recommend for older teens.
Awesome book, the first of six books in the series, just what I’ve come to expect from Jim Butcher. I would have loved to have read a seventh book in the series, but telling you why would be a spoiler. I am a huge Butcher fan, having read another dozen books in the Harry Dresden series, all of which have their own twists.
I rad this book a # of years ago and reread it a few times since then. Every time I reread it I would loved to be in the room with the author. I would ask why did you do this, why did you did that and ask how he came up with such a great book.
This it the star of a great book and series with adventure, terror and sooooo much more.
Jim Butcher really hit a home run with this series! You will be hooked and want the entire set.
