The greatest love story ever told…in the Florida Everglades.RomeWhen sinister things start happening on Montreux land, there’s only one potential suspect…the Capshaw pack. Those slobbering, mangy cougar shifters are nothing but backstabbers and trouble makers. And now, they’ve taken things too far by targeting my pack. I’m willing to do anything to protect my family, even if it means taking on … protect my family, even if it means taking on the Capshaws. But when I see Jules Capshaw for the first time, all thoughts of revenge fly out the window. Who would have thought my greatest enemy would be my fated mate?
Jules
Rome Montreux is up to something. When he trespasses onto Capshaw land in the middle of the night, I know it’s with wicked intent. There can’t possibly be another reason for a Montreux to be here. But when he reappears at my birthday party, it’s not hatred or mistrust brewing between us—it’s the lust of two mates. The fact that he’s a panther and my sworn enemy doesn’t matter to my body. And once we are mated, all bets are off.
But something evil is afoot in Verona Forest, and it has nothing to do with the twenty year Capshaw/Montreux feud. There’s a bigger threat.
Can we band together to face the real enemy, or will we let past hatred rule the present?

Fur Verona by Gwyn McNamee was a modern day twist on a old star-crossed lover tale.
My first read by this author, I didn’t know what I was expecting. I’m not that big into shifters, I tend to dabble. I’m more of a magic/paranormal type girl. I find for me, it’s a bit of a hit and miss, but Fur Verona was a more then a hit, it was a bullseye!
Coming in at 107 pages, this is a quick, action packed, feels invoking adventure, that will have your eyes glued to the pages. Mine were, and I didn’t stop reading until the last page was flipped. I wanted more, this was too short and I hope I get to see more of this amazing world that Gwyn McNamee has created.
I loved the most, more then anything, was how the author has taken a classic, and a over used concept and had it all their own. If you know the classic Romeo and Juliet, then you will find that this book follows that tragic play. But, even if you know Romeo and Juliet by the back of your hand, you will find that, though this follows the two houses that fight and, the star-crossed lovers; you will take note of the differences right away. Add that to the twist and turns, that he authors has added to set her book apart and of course the ending, and you got one hell of an addicting read.
This book, for me, was perfect. It rekindled a love for shifters I use to have when I was younger, and I hope that there is a part two, or even a spin off. Because I am in love with not only the book, but the author ‘s writing, and their way of pulling you so deep into a story, with a background I already know, and making it feel new, exciting, and unpredictable.
This book is a super high recommendation form me, this is more then a retelling, it’s a revival.
Happy Reading

Fur Verona by Gwyn Mcnamee a five-star read that will make you roar. This is such a great read by an amazing author. My fair Verona, what a beautiful place you are, but alas its not fair Verona in Italy we visit in this fur story but Verona Forest in the Florida Everglades. Rome Montreux you furry devil you, those smouldering eyes give way to a deep heart. Jules Capshaw is a strong and independent woman, she leads her pack with honour and grace, but something is missing. But that missing thing is something that something she can’t have, or can she? A tale of love and mystery with a passion that will ruffle fur and feathers alike. Once again Gwyn Mcnamee has produced a killer story.
I give Fur Verona by Gwyn McNamee, 4 stars.
Two shifter packs, enemies for a long time. Two leaders, who seem to be mates to each other. But there seems to something evil happening. Can these two groups come together? Do they really want to? And what of the couple in love? Is there fate already decided?
This is a paranormal romance destined to fail. The story seems familiar, but that is because it is a retelling of Romeo and Juliet. But there are enough twists in it to make it interesting. Not to mention Rome and Jules are great characters. I would love to see more of them in the future.
This book is not very long, but it is well written and will keep you entertained until the very end. I highly recommend this paranormal romance to anyone who loves this genre. Curl up on the couch and get ready to enjoy a wonderful tale.
A great read about tensions. In a fantasy land, the shifter packs of the Caspshews and Montruexs have been bitter enemies for decades. When strange events threaten both packs, each suspects the other and tensions rise. Sneaking into a party to find answers, the Montruex alpha Rome finds more than he was looking for as he falls in love and events spiral out of control. Will the packs be able to work together t find the truth or will the bitter hate win out?
A great read. A brilliant take on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet keeping true to the original narrative while adding something new to the story. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down. Well developed characters like Jules leading her pack while strugging with her feelings or Rome going for what he wants despite danger.
An excellent example of the fantastical with different creatures and societies and rules while still in a world that feels familiar. I loved the natural imagery throughout the novel with the forest and the lightning and storms as if you were actually there. also adored the detail of the party full of life and colour. The use of different perspectives worked well to display both sides of the story. The only issue I would raise is that it was sometimes hard to follow which character held the narrative, but this could be resolved by indicating it at the start of the chapters. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.
Fur Verona is an incredible quick romance read with a special twist on the telling of Romeo & Juliet in which Gwyn McNamee has transformed it into a brilliant Shifter Romance Read. This is my fifth read from this author and she continues to prove how versatile she is when it comes to writing different genres and themes. She continues to never disappoint when it comes to creating brilliant characters such as Rome & Jules even though they may loosely be based on other characters they still hold their own and have their own personalities within this read.
This read was romantic, suspenseful, intriguing, captivating, action-packed and passionate from the get-go until the very end, in which I would love to read a part 2 to see how everything resumes after the epilogue ending!
Rome & Jules have a history like no other, filled with hate and resentment, but from the moment they lay eyes on each other the past that surrounds them and their last names vanish and they realise what really is the most important. These two go through quite a few ups and downs through this sort read, and they both make life-changing sacrifices. But through it all, you can’t help but wish for them to get their HEA! – Will it be possible from them and their families to get their HEA with the threat that is lurking? Or will it defeat them all!
Don’t miss this read in order to find out!
But either way, just don’t miss this incredibly captivating read.
Fur Verona by Gwyn McNamee is a great re-imagining of Romeo and Juliet. With a supernatural twist this book is sure to have you hooked right until the end.
Rome cannot describe just how much he disliked the Capshaw pack. It is almost ingrained into him the hatred that he feels. So when things start to happen on his land, to his pack, he knows that they are to blame. And he will do anything to protect his pack.
When Jules catches Rome trespassing on her land at night she knows he must be up to something. Nothing good could ever come out of him sneaking around. However, his reappearance at my birthday, that is sinister in a completely different way.
Despite their differences they find their connection runs deep. Once mated, the mutual hatred does not matter anymore. But there is still something going on in the forest. Rome and Jules have to figure out if they can set aside their differences long enough to defeat the enemy they both face. Or will their past their own defeat?
This is an author I always enjoy reading – her books are well written, entertaining and more often than not funny. This is the first book of hers that I have read with a more mystical twist to it and it is just as good as the rest of her repertoire. Rome and Jules are engaging and interesting characters. Their history is well crafted and their differences construed well. Their chemistry was obvious from the first moment and always believable – the more you read of them the more you can feel their connection. The story was a great read. Trying to work out who the enemy was and whether they could defeat kept the story flowing and kept my interest piqued. This author always pulls it out of the bag and I really can’t wait to see what else she has to offer in future.

My all-time favourite Shakespeare work is Romeo and Juliet, I love everything about it so I will be honest and I wasn’t sure that I was ready for an author to take it and re-tell it in a different way but what can I say – I think if ever there was an author to do it, it would be Gwyn McNamee and she truly twisted this story around and made it into an outstanding read. It’s Romeo and Juliet in a way I never knew I wanted! I absolutely loved every second of it – I never wanted it to end. I’m no stranger to Gwyn McNamee her book Savage Collison remains one of my favourite books of all time so I knew I had to give this book a read. I think this is my first paranormal read from her and it shows just how versatile she is as an author.
Jules and Rome were HOT together! I mean off the charts HOT!! I loved them!
I cannot recommend this book enough – it is an amazing read that should definitely be one clicked as soon as possible!!
Gwyn McNamee’s Fur Verona is a well written paranormal romance. This story takes a spin of a story old as time and its done with tasteful flare. The scenes are set, the characters are cast, and the plot is to die for. The author has woven her magical writing talent through and through within this novel. Rome and Jules are both strong independent characters. Add them together and it’s one climatic combination! This story was addictive and I could not put it down. Gwyn McNamee did a fantastic job with her character development, inclusive of the underlying theme of the story. Combined with the dialogue and drama, it was a match made in heaven!

This was a modern take in Romeo and Juliet, but with shifters of course!
Rome and Jules are both alphas of their packs but on opposite sides of a very long feud.
When mysterious things start happening and fingers get pointed, the twist you never thought couod happen does, and that’s not all!
I loved this very quick yet page turning read. And this author can write the phone book and id read it!
Hope we get to see more of these characters soon.
Fur Verona by Gwyn McNamee is Romeo and Juliet with. Twist….and some fur. The story itself was good, it flowed well when switching scenes and overall I liked the flow and pace set. Rome and Jules are both great characters both alphas and both trying to find the threat of the other. The story has a few twists and a few spots that make you laugh. With a great storyline and characters you can’t really go wrong with Fur Verona.
Huge fan of this author and was surprised by the trope of this story. It’s a shifter story with a twist. A retelling of a tale as old as time.
This is 107 pages packed with words and situations that are so familiar yet have a different spin on them. From beginning to end I was super excited to be able to identify who was who and was hopefull that it would go on for longer than it did.
I love the way the author set the tone. I’ve not read a retelling of Shakespeare in this way and would open to reading more of his works this way.
FANTASTIC!!!
Another great read from Gwyn McNamee!
In Fur Verona we find an exciting spin on the classic tale of Romeo & Juliet. If you’re looking for an easy, quick read with the perfect amount of adventure & romance, then this is the story for you!
Rome & Jules are shifters from opposing sides in the territory when they happen to cross paths. Their connection is immediate, but with everything against them is it possible for Rome & Jules to truly be together? I won’t say any more because I don’t want to give you any spoilers, but I will say that I couldn’t put it down! The feelings I experienced while reading were all over the board…smiles, frustration, love & yes, even a few tears. And I can’t forget to say that it was also smoking HOT!!
If you haven’t read Gwyn yet, this is a great place to start!
I loved this book. It is not the normal type of book I am use to reading by this author but it is my favorite. I love her writing style and her easy flowing plot. I love how she is able to pull me into the story right from the beginning. The twists and turns the characters took me on left me sitting on the edge of your seat. This is a paranormal story you won’t regret picking it up. The characters are both lovable and connectable. The chemistry between this is awesome. A must read!

Another one gets hit out of the ballpark for this amazing author. Although a quick very short read it was packed full of content. I have come to realize that it doesn’t matter what this author writes its an immediate one click for me. I love how you never really know what to expect.
This, the story that very much reminded me of the Hatfield and Mccoy legend was awesome, and when they have believed for so long what has been ingrained in them can they realize that they might need to band together for a mutual cause, or will their long running hatred for each other just continue on allowing outside forces to win ultimately driving away the leader of each forever?
I loved this and once again can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!
Awesome!!

5 out of 5 stars
The story Fur Verona by Gwyn McNamee is a paranormal/shifter romance book. It is a story that I enjoyed reading. The book draws you in and I found myself finishing it all in one sitting. I loved the characters of Rome and Jules. Rome is a leader that is protective of his pack and takes chances when necessary to keep them safe. Jules is also protective of her pack. She is strong and fiercely independent. Their two packs have been feuding for years. What happens when they discover that they are fated mates? This story has action, conflict, and danger. There is also a mystery that needs to be solved. This book does include some very steamy scenes that will make the temperature in the room rise. Shifter stories have always been a favorite of mine. I love that you get to read the emotions of both the human and animal side of the shifters. This is a well-written story for anyone who already loves shifter stories or anyone who is looking to read their first. I highly recommend it.

Fur Verona by Gwyn McNamee is her brilliant take on ‘Romeo and Juliet’. This has a brilliant paranormal twist on the classic tale- and is full of wonder, intrigue, suspense, danger, passion, chemistry, romance, drama, and mystery. Ms. McNamee packs quite a memorable punch with this sexy action-packed tale. There is so much more to the story than I first suspected, but then I really shouldn’t have expected anything less from such a talented author.
We meet Jules Capshaw and Rome Montreux whose families have been feuding for the past 25 years. This long-heated feud has caused tensions between the packs to run at an all time high. The mistrust, anger, resentment, pain and heartache which boils between the two families is set to bubble over at any moment. So, when strange things begin to happen, and threats appear on each of their territories- they can’t help but blame the other side. But when Rome sneaks into a Capshaw party on a fact-finding mission, his world is turned upside down when he lays eyes on the gorgeous Jules. They soon realise that there is no getting away from their powerful attraction and overwhelming feelings for one another. But with their families embroiled in such bitter rivalry, will they ever find a way to be together? Add in the dangerous threat to both sides, and this story gets really exciting. Who is behind the threats and why? What happens when danger comes calling? Will Rome and Jules figure it out before it’s too late? Or will this be the end for them, both?
This story is just so good- I loved every minute! I got to the end and didn’t want to leave! I wanted more!!! Not because the story was lacking, but because it is just sooooo freaking good!! I wanted to stay in Verona and read more about the characters! Not just about Jules and Rome- but about Marc, Lio, Paris, Rose- and the rest. I really hope this won’t be the last we see of Verona. Hint Hint Hint Ms. McNamee
The tension, suspense, drama, mystery, and intrigue in this story was so on point! She had me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. And even though this is Ms. McNamee’s take on an old classic that I know so well, she still managed to make it exciting and entirely unpredictable!
Ms. McNamee is a superb and masterful writer…. and HOLY MOLY can she write panty melting, core clenching, knee trembling, and heat inducing sex scenes!!! I always need a cold shower after reading one of her books!!
Bellissimo!!
Thank you, Ms. McNamee!
I enjoyed this immensely. If you have a couple of hours to sit down and read then this is a great little paranormal read
I’ll be honest and admit that I haven’t read (or seen) Romeo and Juliet, but I know the basic story. Fur Verona has all the well-known elements of it, from the balcony scene, to the feuding families, to the lovers’ deaths. Except this story has a happily ever after. Gwyn McNamee has taken a classic story and put an ultra-sexy shifter twist on it. I’m not a huge fan of PNR, but I really enjoyed this one.
If Shakespeare were writing contemporary romance today, this is what he’d write.
This book gets extra points right away for being clever enough to reimagine the Romeo and Juliet story with modern-day panther/cougar shifters. But this book is so much more than that! It’s a beautiful romance, true enough to the original to ignite more than a few “Aha!” and “I see what you did there” moments, yet it’s still a unique love story with multi-layered characters, drama, history, and plenty of steamy action.
The love between Rome and Jules is exquisite – their realization is not only the path to their own personal happiness, but it’s also the only way to save both their packs from a decades-old threat. This story drew me in from the very first scene and held me spellbound right up until the final word.
And it has the one thing that Shakespeare left out – a beautiful HEA. You’ll have to read it to discover the clever way the author stays true to the original play while still accomplishing that, but I promise you’ll love every bit of it. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Well, it’s definitely not Shakespeare, but it’s an interesting take on the classic tale. The narrative is easy, fast paced and pleasing with a touch or two of drama. (After all, it’s a take-off on Romeo and Juliet.) The characters are appealing and the passion is steamy. If you are looking for a quick, enjoyable story, you should give this a read.
