Dee Henderson Is Back!Ann Silver is a cop’s cop. As the Midwest Homicide Investigator, she is called in to help local law enforcement on the worst of cases, looking for answers to murder. Hers is one of the region’s most trusted investigative positions. Paul Falcon is the FBI’s top murder cop in the Midwest. If the victim carried a federal badge or had a security clearance, odds are good Paul and … odds are good Paul and his team see the case file or work the murder.
Their lives intersect when Ann arrives to pass a case off her desk and onto his. A car wreck and a suspicious death offer a lead on a hired shooter he is tracking. Paul isn’t expecting to meet someone, the kind that goes on the personal side of the ledger, but Ann Silver has his attention.
The better he gets to know her, the more Paul realizes her job barely scratches the surface of who she is. She knows spies and soldiers and U.S. Marshals, and has written books about them. She is friends with the former Vice President. People with good reason to be cautious about who they let into their lives deeply trust her. Paul wonders just what secrets Ann is keeping, until she shows him the John Doe Killer case file, and he starts to realize just who this lady he is falling in love with really is…

My favorite book by Dee Henderson. I have read all of her books and this is by far my favorite. I have read it 3 times over the last few years. I love how it tied into the O’Malley series.
Endearing characters and the development of their relationship.
Completely enjoyed reading Dee Henderson for the first time.
A great story!
Love all her books
I loved the book. Certainly up to standards of Den Henderson. Wonderful, believable characters with twists and turns that I could not foresee.
This is a must read I was unable to put it down. I love this author’s writing, I have the audio cd’s as well. Very entertaining, just buy it and thank me later.
love anything by Dee Henderson
Dee is one of my favorite writers. You can’t always predict the next chapter or the characters’ secrets. Her characters seem real and either your friends or your enemies! Great reads every time!
She knows how to tell a wonderful story.
This is Dee Henderson at her best. A al page turner. Afteding this book, I ha to select more Henderson bookso read.
I enjoyed this book. A little slower moving, but I still liked it
Liked the story line–down-to-earth and real. Great character development. Paul pursued and studied Ann in same manner he handled his job in FBI. Ann a true introvert with real trust issues, problems among all the confidentiality her job and high security clearance required. Both characters introspective. Appreciated their love and respect for the LORD without being preachy. “Lovely.”
A tale of tragedy and hard won survival

This was my second read. Not as well liked second time around. Too much detail.
Wasn’t in the mood for it
One of my favorite books. Dee Henderson books are always great.
Terrific page tuner with many twist’s really good reading
I enjoyed this book…especially the connections with other books written by the author. Others may disagree, but I thought it was clever.
While not my favorite Dee Henderson, it was very good and worth a read. I spent much of my free time reading it. It has several plot lines going on, so makes the book interesting. So glad to see it finished in one volume. Some authors would have gotten 2-3 books out of this one. It is written as if Dee herself were the main character, which she is not. Maybe if she could rewrite her own story, this would be it. There are some very good spiritual truths. Her main character Kate, loves God/Jesus/Holy Spirit deeply, and says she talks to Him throughout her day. It was a good reminder and personal encouragement. The inspirational part of the book is not too much or unrealistic. (Bad things do happen to Good people.) Main character Paul is too good to be true, but don’t we all love our heroes and wish we could be married to the perfect man.
Dee is an excellent writer. I have never been disappointed in any of her books. The characters are complex, many times broken in their own way, but able to overcome their past to build a happy future.
