Jaxon Jennings. Cop. Homicide detective. Partner. He always had your back and rarely made mistakes.
Until the death of his son. Until the night he couldn’t save him. Until everything he held dear was taken away from him.
Now, a shell of a man, his reckless actions mark him as a burn-out. A Loner. A dangerous man whom many in the Fairfax County Police Department cannot trust. The criminals he … The criminals he pursues in the suburbs of Washington D. C. are nothing more than ways to bide his time until his next drink, next fix, next loss of control. His past haunts him no matter how hard he tries to hide from it.
So, when a boy’s body shows up floating under the ice of a quiet neighborhood pool, Jaxon finds himself immersed in a world where the ghosts of his past feel too close for comfort. A psychopath is using the innocent in ways that appear familiar.
Jaxon’s past is catching up with him. And the anger that seethes below the surface threatens to destroy not only his life, but the lives of a group of kids somehow connected with him. The answers are locked, frozen in the part of his past he refuses to confront. But people are counting on him. And he must do anything to save them.
Anything. Even if it costs him his life.

Enjoyed very much!
Very well written. It kept my interest to the end
Like too many books appearing on the market, the plot of Frozen Past depends on young people being too stupid to live, and keeping secrets based on a threat from an unknown person that makes solving a case hard. Add to that the apparently wooden (or perhaps also stupid) nature of the police detective and I could not finish this book. It was too …
I really enjoyed this book. It had some twists and turns in it that kept me wanting to read on and on.
Did not want to put the book down.
Wonderful story and characters. A real page turner. Fantastic read!!!
This book kept you guessing as to what would happen next and who the bad guy really was. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Good book. I will be looking for more of Hales books. I did guess the murderers identity early on. But it’s worth the read.
The kids seem too naive. They have cell phones so they have grown up in an era of “stranger danger.” Yet they think they can tackle a murderer themselves.
I would highly recommend this book, hard to put down. You keep trying to figure out who is doing what. Runs true to how boys think, and act.
I can’t take my eyes off it!!
So so lost interest didn’t finish it
Omg what a story!!!!! Unbelievable edge of the seat thriller and usually something that I would never read but glad I did……loved it.
Slow to start – but picked up. Written at somewhat elementary level – leaving me with hundreds of questions – and frustrations at the 1) stupidity of the police 2) puppy love antics of the kids 3) authors basic failure to understand/describe police protocols and procedures 4) kids actions in not sharing critical information.
After reading the …
Rubbish . Just piling up macabre incidents .
very good read. keeps you guessing.
very exciting and kept you guessing, could not put down
Beheaded dog….couldn’t even start.
This book was good not great. But it puzzled me enough to continue reading til the end
WOW! I have read some real page turners, but this book had me on the edge of my seat. I literally could not put it down, it took my Nook with me when I went to the store and purposely got in the longest line so I could read. Thank you Richard C. Hale.
