Apparently, life doesn’t end when you get married. When a couple freezes to death on a fifty degree day, Cassie is called in to investigate. The couple ran a daycare out of their home, making preschoolers the key witnesses and even the prime suspects. Two of those preschoolers are Cassie’s youngest siblings, suggesting conditions at home are worse than she feared. As Cassie struggles to care for … struggles to care for her family, she must face the truth about her mother’s slide into depression, which seems to be taking the entire town with it.
Then Cassie, too, is attacked by the supernatural cold. She has to think fast to survive, and her actions cause a rift between her and her husband.
No, life doesn’t end after marriage. All hell can break loose at any time.

Oh, how I love this series. Although we do not have the perfect ending, it is left open to another book if the author has the inkling to give us more of Cassie and her family/friends. This is has been a great series to read and I will gladly read more in the future if more become available.
This review is for the audio book.
Wow, I love this series and this book is another great story to add to an amazing series or should I say magical series. What makes it so great for me is the characters, they are all slightly damaged or broken and at war with each other but when they get together anything is possible. I liked learning more about what happened to Cassie’s family after the death of her father and really hope the author is hard at work writing the next book.
Cassie dissipate now being a mother nursing a young child the sheriff still comes to her when he thinks he has a paranormal case that needs investigating. And a couple found frozen to death in there home is definitely strange, especially as the house is still so cold that not even Cassie’s husband Evan can stay inside for more than a few minutes. The temperature really drops in town when it turns out the couple were running a nursery from there home and Cassie’s two youngest siblings went there. There mother struggling to care for them or anyone, left the care of the twins to another of Cassie’s sisters, who knows something she isn’t telling Cassie. There have also been a number of suicides that can’t be explained but can they be connected to any of the children at the nursery? Before she can work it out Cassie is attacked by a hell hound and a mysterious fog and in the process of saving her life she causes a rift between Evan and herself. Just when she needs him the most she can feel him pulling away from her. Can the pair patch up there relationship and work together to save the many lives that are on the line?
I really like the narrator for this series. She does a really good job of bringing the characters to life, I think she must be using her own magic to do so.
All in all, in my opinion ever book in this series has turned out to be a must listen to book.
My Thoughts – 5 out of 5 Unicorns – I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!
This is the 7th book in the Cassie Scot series! I highly recommend reading the series in order because you want to know the history and stuff that has happened to characters throughout the journey! I think the series is more for adults due to content and complexities of relationships.
I love this series and world. It is complex, and it definitely takes a jog into the new and unknown in this book. Strange things are happening in town, and as usual Cassie is asked by the Sherriff to help. Cassie has missed some things about her family, but now she is noticing amidst all the chaos of the trouble that has found its way to the lake. Her daughter Ana is adorable and a force to be reckoned with. Cassie is having a lot of trouble with self-doubt, and it is starting to affect all of her relationships. I love that the series isn’t over and that new things are happening! I can’t wait to see what happens next to all of these characters because I’m very intrigued!
I highly recommend to any paranormal fan who loves mystery and intrigue with their magical users and creatures that go with it!
