Patricia Briggs “has reached perfection”* in this #1 New York Times bestseller, as Mercy Thompson faces a shapeshifter’s biggest fear… Mercy’s life has undergone a seismic change. Becoming the mate of Alpha werewolf Adam Hauptman has made her a stepmother to his daughter Jesse, a relationship that brings moments of blissful normalcy to Mercy’s life. But on the edges of humanity, what passes … edges of humanity, what passes for a minor mishap on an ordinary day can turn into so much more…
After a traffic accident in bumper-to-bumper traffic, Mercy and Jesse can’t reach Adam—or anyone else in the pack. They’ve all been abducted. Mercy fears Adam’s disappearance may be related to the political battle the werewolves have been fighting to gain acceptance from the public—and that he and the pack are in serious danger. Outmatched and on her own, Mercy may be forced to seek assistance from any ally she can get, no matter how unlikely.

I already reviewed it after reading it.
This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs is book seven in the Mercy Thompson series. I started a re-read of this series in preparation for the release of Smoke Bitten. The beauty of the re-read is that all the books are available and can be read back to back. I chose to read them in the author suggested order which included the Alpha and Omega series (Charles and Anna) and Shifting Shadows (a book of short stories that take place in the Mercyverse) inserted through the timeline. If you have the opportunity to do this, I highly recommend it. You can read the difference in the storylines as they merge and cross.
I really enjoyed Frost Burned because it marks a change in the Mercy we have come to know and love. With Adam and the Pack in a dire situation, it is up to Mercy to figure out what to do and how to save all she loves. There is definite growth in most of the characters and in typical Patricia Briggs style, there are many little things to pay close attention to. This is an immersive read that is packed with drama, action, dry wit and extreme Mercyness!
This series man. It’s just so good and I think this is my favorite so far. I just loved everything about it and it was nearly impossible to put down. I just love these characters so much.
Mercy is just so fantastic and she’s one of my favorite heroines ever. She is so strong and will always do what she feels is right. She refuses to stay down and when her own are threatened she is lethal. She is small but mighty. And guys… Adam just absolutely owns me. And him and Mercy together are a phenomenal powerhouse. I love their back and forth and I love how solid their bond is. And I especially love that even though Adam wishes Mercy would stay out of trouble; he also respects how she has to fight and do what is right and doesn’t hold her back. As much as I love push and pull when it comes to my romance, I always love when I get to see a couple fight their battles together and be stronger because of it.
I loved how this one pulled together a bunch of the different creatures all into one. There is so much going on here and the politics of it all are getting crazy. Patricia Briggs always keeps me on my toes and she always delivers an addictive read. The politics and werewolves politics and fae and vampires are all coming to a head and I just know it’s going to be explosive in the end.
All in all, Frost Burned was fantastic and I think my favorite so far. These books just continually get better and better and I’m so glad I dove into this series.
This book was an excellent read. The author always has great characters. I have always loved all of Patricia Briggs books, but my favorites are her Mercy Thompson series and her Alpha and Omega series.
Patricia Briggs is amazing, and this book fully justifies that statement.
Mercy Thompson is my absolute favorite VW mechanic indian shape-shifter.
Patricia Briggs never fails to deliver a fast-paced, fantastic adventure. I love her books (all of them). Her writing always pulls me into a world I want to visit, if not live in, and her characters have depth and a richness that makes them feel real.
Great book in the Mercy series. I have loved each book in this series and always look forward to the next and newest.
