It was like seeing a ghost. When my late husband’s twin brother moves back to our small town, I want to avoid him. Everything about Wes reminds me of the man I lost and the life we’d planned together, and after eighteen long months struggling just to get out of bed, I’m finally doing okay. I have a new job, an amazing support group, and a beautiful five-year-old daughter to parent. I don’t want … don’t want to go backward.
But I’m drawn to him, too. He understands my grief and anger and guilt like no one else—and I understand his. Before long, that understanding becomes desire, and that desire becomes uncontrollable.
He says he doesn’t care what people think, and love can never be wrong. But life has taught me its cruelest lesson–love doesn’t always win.
If only my heart would believe it.

Just finished this book about twin brothers, both doctors, and the woman they both love. A wonderful happy, sad, thought provoking, romance. Loved all the characters, their problems that they eventually solved, and the happily ever after. Will read it again in the future. LOVED It!!!!!??
Melanie Harlow portrays the trials and heartbreaks of a recently widow; adding in the fact that she also has a little one to raise alone. From This Moment constantly pulled on my heartstrings and there were so many moments that brought tears to my eyes. There is so much selfless love shown in this second chance romance, I pretty much binge read this book today. It was the perfect weekend read!
Hannah is trying raise her daughter alone, after losing her husband suddenly. As if life isn’t tough enough being a single mother now on top of being a widow; now her dead husband’s twin brother moves back to town. All too quickly lines blur and she finds herself in a situation where she has to decide if love is what she wants or to please the people around her. The expectations placed upon us by family, friends and the general public in times of tragedy only intensifies the grief one already feels.
Also, this book is the epitome of every woman’s worst possible expectation of a mother-in-law come true. You know the jokes, the ones that everyone makes but in reality, a lot of women live. The inability to make the most important woman in your husband’s life before you happy. the lengths that this mother-in-law goes to is harsh but I also felt for her; to lose your child no matter their age is devastating.
* Even though this is a series of standalones, I’ve actually never read the first 3 books in this series. I had absolutely no problem. So you don’t have to read the others before this one. I actually plan to go back and read one of the other stories after meeting those characters in this book. I’d love to know their story.
Love after loss. Small town. A single mom. Her late husband’s twin brother. Ugh…so good.
From This Moment is a standalone novel by one of my favorite authors, Melanie Harlow. I haven’t read all of her books but since I discovered my love of her writing I haven’t read every since. And I have to say that this one is one of my favorites! It just tuck at my heartstrings and I didn’t want it to end.
Hannah lost her husband eighteen months ago. Her daughter lost her father at the age of three. His family lost their son and brother when he was only thirty-three. They were all mourning his loss in different ways. It was now time to come to grieve and move forward. Hannah has recently started working again. Abby was starting kindergarten. Drew’s twin brother Wes was home after being in Africa working with Doctors Without Borders for the last few years. His father was getting ready to retire and pass the practice to his son after his lost the one that wanted it. Hannah knew he would be coming home but she didn’t expect it to be so hard…
It was like seeing a ghost until it wasn’t. Soon, she wasn’t seeing her late husband when she looked at Wes. She saw Wes and it scared her. The feelings. The desire. Feeling safe and alive again. But she also feels guilty. Like she was being disloyal to Drew. She didn’t want to have these feelings for Wes. But she wasn’t the only one with conflicting feelings. Wes felt the same. He felt the connection. He also feel the guilt. He knows he shouldn’t feel this way about his brother’s wife but he did. Now, what were they going to do about it?
I loved this story! Wes, Hannah, and Abby just moved me to tears, laughs, and more. Wes and Hannah have a complicated road full of obstacles to tackle and a mother that just won’t quit. Their relationship is beautiful, heart-wrenching, fun, and sexy. Wes is swoon-worthy, understanding, sweet with a naughty twist. Hannah is strong, beautiful, and an amazing mother. And her daughter Abby is so freaking adorable, smart, and loves her ice cream. I just felt the love between them. Speaking, of the characters, if you read After We Fall you will recognize some of the supporting ones. It was great catching up with them!
Overall…it’s a emotional, fun, sexy, and swoony ride! I cried more than once. I laughed even more. There was a few times there where I wanted to slap someone. And then there were times where I wanted to hug others.
Quotes:
“Ice cream makes everything better. It’s a medical fact.”
Don’t look at me that way, Wes. It makes me weak.
“Take a break.” He switched places with me. “Or there’s going to be a marshmallow pumpkin explosion in here.”
4 stars
I purchased a copy of the full length steamy novel From This Moment: Man Candy book 4 by Melanie Harlow and this review was given freely.
This is a poignant second chance at love romance with a jealous mother, a cute daughter, and a wonderful group of caring friends. Still struggling with grief two years after the death of her husband Drew, single mother Hannah’s fragile peace is challenged everytime she sees the face of his identical twin brother Wes who returned to take over the family medical practice.
Melanie Harlow is one of my favorite authors and I really enjoyed this book. If you have not read one of her books just pick one. She is that good and you won’t be disappointed

Al the feels ! This story gave me all the feels!! Deep down in my soul !! Goodness!! This story made me step outside the box a little and look at things from a different perspective.. and I absolutely loved it !!
I love how the characters are crossing over ! It makes my heart happy to see how they are doing !!
And that mother !! Ugh that’s all I’m going to say I think everyone should have to experience her for themselves!
Another great book my Melanie Harlowe.. this story just proves her awesomeness!!!
The subject matter in this made me a teeny bit uncomfortable. I kept thinking “How would Wes ever know for sure that he was not a substitute?” But I had faith in Melanie Harlow’s writing. It was handled pretty sensitively. Wes was so extraordinary, stepping aside so his brother could be happy. But he finally got his chance, and boy did he go for it! Poor Hannah. She was really put through the ringer, especially from her mother in law, but she came out on the other end with a beautiful life.
I absolutely loved this story! It was a second chance at love story that was so heartbreaking but also so heartwarming, sweet and sexy! Everyone is still heartbroken two years after Drew’s sudden death. Hannah thought she had forever with her husband and father of her young daughter, Abby. Now his twin brother, Wes, is home from Africa and he is bringing all her pain back to the surface. But Wes is hurting as well. He misses his twin brother, but he loved Hannah first, and he will do whatever it takes to help her and Abby be whole again. Wes is so sweet, patient, and loving. He looks like Drew on the outside but he is the opposite in every other way and is exactly what Hannah wants and needs. Hannah is smart, and strong, and such a wonderful mom to adorable little Abby. The growth of their relationship was so honest and real. They had to make sure it was true and that no one would be hurt by their growing love. I loved the journey that this story took me on. It was poignant, heartbreaking, heartwarming, funny and passionate. This emotional and sexy second chance romance is a beautiful story that will make you really feel everything and is storytelling at it’s absolute finest.
Melanie Harlow has really out done herself with this beautiful book!! She had me hooked right from the very start!! It starts off with a sad undertone. Hannah is a young mother and widow, who is trying to cope with the loss of her husband. Her late husband was an identical twin in which she had a history with. Just being around him brings up confusing feelings. Wes has returned home from Africa to help his father with his medical practice. Now he has to face Hannah and her little girl Abby. Wes has always had feelings for Hannah but had problems expressing his thoughts. Then it was too late, his twin brother married the girl of his dreams!! he also has to deal with his jealous and over protective mother. I also enjoyed the scenes where we got to spend some time with Jack and Margot from one of Melanie’s previous books. Great to find out where their life together has taken them. This story has so many emotions, so many twists. I love the way Melanie gives each of her characters such realism, you feel all their feels. She writes with enough angst to get you all tied in knots but holds back enough to keep it real. I was so looking forward to this book. The teasers were killing me and OMG Melanie never disappoints!!! This book is definitely one of my favourite reads of 2017!!!
Another heartbreaking love story from Melanie Harlow.
Just when you think she couldn’t get any better, she does. She pushes the envelope on love. She makes you think outside the box. She makes you feel.
And I felt.
I felt happiness, sadness, loneliness, closeness, and everything in between.
Hannah is a widow, left to raise her daughter on her own. She’s doing everything she can to survive, but sometimes life is just too hard, too much.
Wes is surviving his brother’s death. After spending years overseas, he finally comes home to his family. While learning the ropes at the family practice, he’s building and mending bridges with Hannah, his sister-in-law, and Abby, his niece.
But what happens when you start to fall for the one person you should never have feelings for? What happens when others stick their noses in your business and think they know better than you do? What happens when it all blows up in your face and the very thing you’ve been fighting against is inevitable?
Do you embrace it?
Or just let it slip through your fingers?
Wes and Hannah really warmed my heart. I love a good second chance romance but this is unlike your typical second chance romance. Wes is the identical twin brother of Hannah’s deceased husband and he’s been in love with her from the moment he laid eyes on her years ago. Hannah is doing her best to try and move on for her husband’s death when Wes comes back home. Both of them slowly start to grow feelings for each other that eventually develops into a passionate love affair. Melanie Harlow does a really great job of giving us the perfect amount of naughty, hot and steamy scenes. Their story is sweet, emotional and oh so romantic. It’s relatable and the characters are easy to empathize with. I highly recommend reading this book.
I completely forgot that I bought this months ago, it was buried deep in my tbr pile. Another great story. I can’t believe it took me so long to read it. Oy soooooo much breaking of the heart. This was for sure an emotional one. I only had a wee small problem, I didn’t really like Hannah. She just wouldn’t get out of her head and it drove me crazy here and there. But besides that, I still loved the story.
This was a punch to the chest. Melanie has written some amazingly emotional, moving stories… but nothing like this. This was something on its own plane of existence.
Wes and Hannah are heartbreakingly, while being heart-healingly, beautiful.
“And we are going to have fun today.” I sipped my wine. “Tons of fun. And then later…”
“We’ll feel guilty about it,” he finished. “Exactly.” Our eyes met.
Getting to see Wes come back in her and Abby’s life was tough at times, because you just wanted to protect them and stop some of the hurt. But the grieving process is just that – a process and it’s always different for everyone.
Hannah was so relatable in the sense that she had real thoughts anyone would going through all she did.
Wes was a delight in a tempting package. He was also someone I wanted to shake a little as he fought what he really wanted for so many years.
Lenore was something else. At the beginning she was what everyone fears in a mother-in-law. But she did warm-up for me.
This was truly a story that will always stay with me. Well done and all of the stars!!
I hope your ready to ugly sob because From This Moment is sure to tug on your heart. I am completely blown away at level of Melanie’s amazingness (yes I said amazingness) because this woman has done it again. She is capable of writing the most unique stories that you’ve never read before and friggin kills it. The emotions were definitely running high with this one.
Hannah and Wes are just so great. I don’t often read books about life as a widow, but from the very first page you feel the emotional struggle Hannah goes through after losing her husband and being a single mother. On top of that her late husbands twin brother Wes is back in town and its more than she can handle seeing her husbands face on a man who is most definitely not her husband. I could feel Hannah’s grief because it affects everyone differently. And Wes. OMG! I really love him. He is so much more Hannah expected. I liked that the more they got to know each other the more he was able to pull himself out of his brother’s shadow and be his own person. Wes is very different from his brother who he put before himself. And getting into his head brought tears to my eyes.
I love Melanie for writing this amazing book. It is definitely one of my favorites. I couldn’t put this book down no matter how much I let the tears shamelessly fall down my face. Its truly a beautiful story. Melanie is seriously a one click author for me and From This Moment is no different. So buy this book because it will not disappoint.
4.5 Love wins every time stars! Melanie Harlow does it again! This has everything, a little angst, a bit forbidden, a lot of steam and full of love. You’ll also love the surprise cameos too! Highly recommend this must read!
From the moment I knew Melanie was writing another book I was excited and couldn’t way for it! And man! The wait was so worth it!
This is the story of Hannah and Wes, both of them have something in common, they had lost their other half, Hannah had lost her husband and Wes his twin. And maybe that’s not the only thing in common for them.
Their story is so heartbroken, I had to pull aside the book for seconds to get all the emotions and continue reading it. It’s not easy for either of them to continue but it is even harder when they realize it is easier while doing it together.
“Make me laugh too, I begged silently. Make me smile. Make me feel things like you did yesterday. Take this pain away. Take this loneliness. Take this suffering. I’m so tired of being alone”.
Their journey is not easy, they need to face their loss , their feelings, the judgments, the guilt and the list can go on, they are not the only ones that can be affected. But not always can you get what you want or think about yourself first when you have a little one to think of first.
“I’m sorry Hannah. For whatever pain my feelings for you have caused you and Abby”.
I loved every step of their story, it was not rushed and it didn’t feel wrong in any way, loved how friendship can make you feel stronger when inside everything is apart. The author knows how to make you feel so heartbroken but then it can give you joy and then again feel crushed. All these feelings are what makes me enjoy a book even more.
And what was even better, we got to know about old faces. Can’t wait for more of their stories.
Hannah is badly shaken when she’s at the store as she first thinks she sees her deceased husband Drew. It is her husband’s identical twin brother, Wes. Wes has now moved back to town after living in Africa for several years.
Seeing Wes brings all her hurt, emotions to the surface again making her relive the loss of her husband. She is doing the best she can do to go on with her life for herself and for her daughter.
Wes seems to know just how to handle the emotional steps that Hannah goes through. He knows when to be there for support and when to give her space to work it out on her own. I feel that Wes loved Hannah first and moved out of the country as it was hard for him to be near his brother’s family watching his brother live the life he invisioned for himself. Wes is an amazing man. The strong, silent type always are the best.
The more time Hannah spends with Wes the more she ‘sees’ Wes. She struggles with guilt of moving on and for having feelings for her husband’s brother. She has to face the reality of a possible future with Wes with people judging her or let him go.
This book really pulled at my heart strings. I could related on so many things in this book and feel that allowed me to really connect with the characters more. I, too, am an identical twin and struggled my whole life with people mixing my twin and I up and fighting for my own independence and life separate from her.
This is a very heartwarming read.
I ate Wes up in one sitting ..though I will tell you it made me cringe a tiny bit through my tears because I’m a wife of an identical twin. It is fiction right ..LOL!
This book had all the feels from both Wes who always had feelings for his brother’s wife though he told NO one. To Hannah who of course knew Wes but he was halfway across the world in Africa working. So when Drew dies unexpectedly and leaves Hannah a single parent of their little girl and is trying to deal with what her life is now when Wes comes back into town. They become friends as he also tries to make a relationship with his niece. Enter Wes ‘s mom .. Gah she’s HORRIBLE!!!! All the lines that shouldn’t be crossed get blurred. This book is so emotional you must read it to find out how Wes and Hannah take each moment.
Melanie Harlow never fails to elicit the feels when it comes to her books, but I can’t say I’ve ever cried during one as early as I did while reading From This Moment…3% in and the tears had a already started. Thankfully, though, that wasn’t a true preview of what was to come! And while yes, there were more tears shed later, and Hannah and Wes, and all that they face, will definitely tug at your heartstrings, it’s not a sob your heart out until your eyes are so puffy you can’t see out of them the next day kind of book. It’s a beautiful and heartfelt story that shows no matter what obstacles a couple encounters, love always wins.
And Hannah, who finds herself falling in love with her dead husband’s twin brother, and Wes, who is finally free to act upon feelings he’s harbored for a decade but has always pushed them aside for the greater good, have more than their fair share of obstacles to over come. Wanting to be together, but afraid of the consequences, Hannah and Wes face heartache and discord, and the judgement of an overbearing and meddling mother. While Wes is all in and wants nothing more than to make a family with Hannah and Abby, Hannah is more reticent and unsure. She allows her head to get in the way of her heart, and that causes for some major push and pull with Wes. But the connection and pull between them is too strong, and it’s one that Hannah realizes she can’t deny.
I really loved Wes and Hannah and Abby. Abby was such a bright spot in this story, I just adored her little self! I loved the second chance aspect of Hannah and Wes’s story. I loved how Drew was never forgotten about, even as they moved on from the grief they were suffering.
I loved the realness of these characters and how Ms. Harlow brought them to life. She showed that love is not always pretty or easy, it’s messy and confusing, but it’s always worth it in the end. From This Moment is a complex, romantic, and heartfelt story that will evoke a wide range of emotions…exactly what I expect from a Melanie Harlow book.
