Elizabeth tries to pick up the pieces when her marriage falls apart, but after an accident she finds that nothing in her life is as she remembers it- including her husband. Excerpt- “I’d always played it safe and look where it got me. My life ended the day he walked out the door. I just needed one night of recklessness to grieve the end of my marriage. I didn’t plan on meeting him. What if it’s … him. What if it’s too good to be true? Do people actually get the life they deserve?”
From the Author
I’m a big proponent of happy endings. I think in a life that is so unpredictable, it’s nice to know that our favorite characters will end up together.
That being said, From This Day Forward ends in a cliffhanger. There isn’t this great resolution that ties up all the loose ends nicely. Why? Because it wouldn’t be realistic. Life isn’t an old sitcom where every problem is resolved within the thirty minute timespot.
Also, it wouldn’t have felt right to rush the characters through certain emotions in order to get an ending that would please everyone. That’s why I split it into two books. I know a lot of readers hate being surprised by CH, so I’m doing everyone a solid and mentioning it up front.
Believe me when I say that the second book will be grittier, but it will have a HEA for our main character.
So, sit back and enjoy the read.

Twist and Turns. Four Star
What happens when you wake up and realize everything you knew is a lie of your own making, a well thought out figment of your imagination, so many twists, and turns that making sense confuses you more. From this day Forward is this type of book.
Elizabeth has been in a horrific car accident, and what she thought she knew may be the biggest lie of all, or is it? As she struggles to find her equilibrium questions, arise that she cannot begin to answer. Even her doctors will not tell her what Elizabeth needs to know. Struggling, confused, angry, and no help in sight, she must decide what her next move may be.
This book has many surprises, twists, and suspense to keep you turning the page to find out what happens next. I honestly did not see what was coming around the corner.
This book is proficiently written, and I look forward to the next book in the series.
Short review. The book is broken into three parts, I didn’t like part one and found it boring until David showed up. I enjoyed part 2 much more and felt the love and passion that David and Beth have for each other part 3 tainted what I liked about part 2. Despite not enjoying all of the book but parts of it I am interesting to see if any of the characters will be redeemed in the next book.
*Spoilers* I felt like making David a cheater too was an after thought to put both him and Beth on even ground but it just didn’t ring true to me for the character. David seem like a very committee husband who lost his way of making sure that Beth didn’t feel neglected along the way. Making him a cheater really wasn’t needed now if he had almost went through with an affair do to him and Beth fighting a lot that would have been more believable to me. But making him cheat especially with Beth’s friend that he doesn’t even like just felt like he was being painted in a bad light to justify Beth’s affair. *End of Spoiler*
From This Day Forward by Shannon Myers a five-star read that you will want to be taken forward with. I thought I had already read everything by this author so really don’t know how I missed this one, what I will say is buy both this book and the next one Forsaking all others together as you will not want to risk not being able to read the second book or have any delay to reading it. Together they are the From this day forward duet and together they make the best read I’ve read in a long while. What a story!!! I can’t go into to many details as I don’t want to give spoilers and this story is one that will have your jaw dropping at so many different times, with plot twists that you won’t see coming. My favourite character is Elizabeth or Beth or Lizzie as she is sometimes known, we see many different sides of her during these two stories and each page shows us another dimension to the story. I couldn’t put either story down when I picked them up and have to thank Shannon Myers for writing a great story once again. I have some similarities to Elizabeth and things she gets up to in the story and it was nice seeing her and how she dealt with them. This story makes you thankful for every day you have alive. It also shows that just because you don’t get your happily ever after at first, it doesn’t mean you never will.
Elizabeth is faced with a huge life challenge right at the beginning of the book – her marriage is over. With the help of her best friend Jess, her therapist, and some well portioned champagne, she begins to put the pieces of her life back together.
That is, until … she doesn’t.
There’s so much about this story I cannot say without taking away some of the surprise of the plot. But let’s just say that once it seems that Elizabeth’s life is turning toward the better it all changes.
There were many things about this story I enjoyed:
The plot twist! I loved how what seemed to be happening at the beginning was merely a reflection of what was truly happening
The feelings and emotions. I completely understood how the characters were feeling. Did I always agree with them? Hardly. But I get it.
The twists and turns. It seems once we thought we’d figured things out, it seemed we hadn’t. I love that I didn’t figure things out all at once.
The thing I had the most trouble getting on board with was the concept of cheating. This is just me. There are a lot of things I’ve read about in stories that are controversial or even unpleasant, but for some reason cheating is one thing that just makes me disconnect from the story. That being said, I think this story gave an honest representation of how it can get out of hand. Each of these characters made choices and their choices led to where they’re left at the end of the book – which is unresolved.
Overall an interesting read, and one that most would probably enjoy.
