Felt like the portrayal of the time and place were very accurate. Characters kept me interested in what came next
Great read.
I loved this book recommended by my sister and looking forward to reading more!
A tight story line that has more twists and turns then ever imagined. A bit stilted in spots but a good tale.
A fun mystery set in Victorian San Francisco. The main characters are quirky in a good way while still being believable. The mystery is plausible and has a few red herrings to keep you guessing until the end. The author is sympathetic to men and women who dared to live outside of society’s norms and explores their struggles realistically for …
Started slow, but got more interesting along the way
Amazing informative and exciting read. I loved Atticus, Isobel, and Tom. Great book!
Just as good as the Sherlock Holmes and wife Mary books. Intriguing. I loved Atticus Riot.
Enjoyed the characters. I’ll look for this author again.
Very interesting historical novel will continue to read this series.
if you love historical mysteries this is PHENOMENAL!!! this author is now on my must read list!
Best ever. I will read more by this author.
Sabrina Flynn is a great writer. Couldn’t put it down. Loved this book so much that I had to buy the rest of the series. (and that’s saying something, as I seldom purchase books.
Kept me on the edge of my seat. Loved the unconventional characters!
Story is weak and writing poor

Lost interest about mid-way. Had a hard time just finishing the book.
Loved it, would like to read the entire series.
I couldn’t put it down. Engaging and entertaining. A great way to set up the series. I will definitely read more in this series. I love reading historical novels set in my home town!
Pretty good story and worth the read. The author set up the scenes well so that I could easily see old San Francisco; good job pointing out the corruption that was normal in those days. The characters were well described and there is enough background to give you a good idea of who they are as people. I enjoyed old Tom tremendously; what a rascal. …
