Please note that this is book 2. The Way We Burn, book 1, must be read first.Palmer: She left almost a year ago without giving me a moment to explain myself. A lot has happened since then, and as we’re about to find out, that shit show of a summer is going to be the least of our problems. She set fire to my life back then, igniting my tired soul. Now she’s back looking better than ever and our … better than ever and our fire still burns.
But that’s not the only thing burning this year.
Kennedy: Everything in Beacon seems different. A lot has happened since I hightailed it out of here after catching Palmer in a lip lock with his ex—the main change being that he seems to have moved on. I’m willing to fight for him, and I know I’ll need to pull out all the stops. We burned so hot last year…can we find our way back from the ashes?

You must read The Way We Burn, book 1 in the Beacon Hill series, before you can read this one. I don’t want to spoil so I can’t give any details but I will say that love Kennedy and Palmer. I felt that were was a missed opportunity with the groveling – we didn’t get to see any of that and I was bummed, we were just told that all the groveling wasn’t working and wasn’t getting the desired reaction. I really wished that we could have seen some of that. But these two are so good and this book was better at showing their love and devotion to each other once they reconnected. And still there is no shortage of drama in their lives. Never ending which also means that this one again ends on a cliffy which we all know I hate. So while I am dying to know happens I know that the final book in this story isn’t out so I will wait until it is out before I finish this series. I can’t take any more cliffies. But I love Kennedy and Palmer so much. Love them hard.
I still LOVE Kennedy and Palmer! I loved From Ashes almost as much as I love Kennedy and Palmer. Fondry knew what she was doing with these two. I literally could not stop reading their story.
While after book one we were left wondering if these two would actually make it. Book two starts ten months after book one ends. Kennedy is back in Beacon Hill and staying with her uncle. Things with Kennedy and Palmer are anything but okay. When they see each other for the first time at a bonfire their tempers are hotter than any flames from the fire. Fondry gives us some new characters which adds to the plot.
All the heartache and pain was worth it in the end. These two just won my heart over and I never want them to give it back. My heart was literally in my toes wondering if these two can actually figure things out.
“He loves me, like truly loves me. He makes sure I’m reminded of that fact every single day. For him? The sun rises and sets with me. I’ve never had that before.”
Sometimes the toughest paths get us to the best of places. Sometimes the struggle is what makes us appreciate what we have more. Palmer and Kennedy are meant to be and their struggles are what makes them who they are. I LOVE them!
From the Ashes is the amazing conclusion to Kennedy and Palmer’s story and has made me love them more! Fondry did amazing job with everything in this story. The characters, the plot, the twist and turns!
From the Ashes is a 5 star must read!
Intense continuation of this story!
This is the second book in this series and this one is just as intense, just as steamy and just as emotional as book one. Palmer and Kennedy finally make their way back to one another and need to deal with the issues that drove them apart in the first place. The attraction and chemistry remains between them and its just as steamy as ever. The story continues to be fast paced and highly entertaining to read.
Great story with new and wonderful characters but be ready for another cliffhanger of an ending!!
I am SUPER later in writing this review but DADDY PALMER IS MINE.
I LOVED this duet, the banter and they are couple goals. J.D.’s writing is like a smooth R&B song, easy to read, and addicting.
Do yourself a solid and read this! <3
BOOK #1 THE WAY WE BURN HAS TO BE READ BEFORE GOING THROUGH THIS BOOK!!
PALMER and KENNEDY are back to rip our hearts out with their love story…
A whole summer has passed and the story continues after 10 months when book #1 ends…so much has happened during this time but their love has never diminished…yeah they are mad at each…yes…they did rather hate each other but ..love doesn’t give them much choice…
You get the feeling that you already know what’s about to happen but then BAM…something unexpected happens which just changes the course of the whole book…
One of the best romance series to recommend…definitely tear jerkers with so many layers of suspense that the reader will be shocked to their core after reading this…
This is the second book in the Beacon Hill series, and the continuation of Palmer, and Kennedy. Having been apart for sometime Palmer, and Kennedy find their way back to one another, but they are both dealing with the consequences of what ripped them apart. This was another great read in this series, this was beautifully written, and the characters have electric chemistry. This was emotional, raw, dramatic, intense, steamy, and a must read!
Another great book in this awesome series. I love Kennedy and Palmer and how they burn for each other. This story is emotional, action packed and steamy. They have many obstacles to over come in this book. Will they finally find the happiness they crave? This is a great read and I highly recommend this book.
I loved this book from the first page, the first song on the playlist is of my favorite band. Its a very easy read but it keeps you on the top of your toes a lot. Kenndy and Palmer have to find their way back to each other. But Kennedy wants her man back and nothing or no one is gonna stop her. Fighting for the love of her life she still has to deal with the ghost of the past. But Palmer also wants his woman back. He’s still hurt from when she left but she is it for him. When they get back together and things start to look good, everything goes wrong. Palmer lost his dream. And now it turns out his friend had a hand in it? And why keeps Spencer comming back again?
A step up for me. Definitely enjoyed this more than the first book.
.
This book was sooo much better than the first. Some major growth from the characters in this book. I loved how they opened up to each other even after everything they have been through and done. Their communication game was on point in this book and I enjoyed watching their progression.
.
I agreed wholeheartedly with Palmer about Kennedy needing to work to get him back but I also felt she didn’t really do much either which was kind of a let down but given the circumstances he put her in I get how it went about. There was an oh shit moment that got me excited to see how it all unravels in the next book. Must admit deacon got me curious but sterling isn’t my cup of tea so I’m on the fence about carrying on the series.
.
Amazing world build. Clear, precise details and so much mystery and suspense you really can’t predict where it goes which gives the story and exciting edge. So much still needs to be unraveled so, no doubt it will come in the next book. I’m still on the fence about spencer, something just ain’t right there, or there’s some crucial information or some hidden agenda we haven’t seen yet which I’m looking forward to.
.
Even though I’m not a sterling fan, I am looking forward to seeing what unfolds in the next book.
Palmer and Kennedy are literally couple goals. Even after being apart for some time they still manage to gravitate back to one another. I enjoyed the way Palmer and Kennedy were wrapped up, while still being able to carry on the story line through other characters. I am so excited for book three and seeing where Deacon and Sterling’s story takes everyone!
I was really looking forward to this book as I loved the first one and it ended on one hell of a cliffhanger and I was not disappointed.
This book started nearly a full year from where the first left off and I really liked that the chemistry between Palmer and Kennedy was still as intense as ever.
It’s ended on another cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read it as it is about another couple which I’m looking forward to however I really want more from Palmer and Kennedy as I feel their story has so much more to come.
With how The Way We Burn ended I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started From the Ashes, but I was not disappointed.
FTA picks up 10 months after where we left off. Kennedy is back in Beacon Hill after hightailing it and leaving Palmer. After clearing the air and a whole lot of deep, honest conversations, the pair eventually get back together (thank god, be mad all you want salty babes), but it’s not smooth sailing. Their past has a way of coming back to haunt them, and sh*t literally goes up in flames.
Fricking JD and her damn cliffhangers though… Looking forward to Lie to Me, and delving into Sterling & Deacon’s story!
JD Fondry has done it again. Writing a fantastic story about Kennedy and Palmer. This book is set for 10 months after where the way we burn leaves off. Kennedy is back in Beacon Hill. With her apartment rented out she is forced to stay with her uncle. Knowing the inevitable is bound to happen, Kennedy sees Palmer at a local bonfire. Things between them ended rough. He is with his newest interest. To say things go south quickly would be an understatement. Letting bygones be bygones, Kennedy has a blast from her past come and find her. Offering her something she would never have dreamt. When things get a little too hot in Beacon Hill particularly at Palmers shop, Kennedy does everything she can to help. With new characters introduced, a thickened plot, and a mystery still not solved, Kennedy and Palmer make sure nothing stands in the way of their relationship this time around…right?
I absolutely loved this second book in the series. Like seriously, I thought book 1 was good but book 2 is a masterpiece. I love the continuation of Palmer and Kennedy’s story. After reading book one, I thought I knew exactly what to expect in book 2 but again, I was wrong. I had no clue. I was lost in the pages of this book for hours. I could not put it down. Amazing job and I can’t wait to read what comes next.
Oh snap here we go again. After a misstep and misunderstanding/jumped conclusions, Kennedy is back in Beacon Hills. Palmer is going to make her work for his attention this time around.
Fate has plans for these two and it sure isn’t a easy go of things! While I still stick to my initial thoughts on Book 1 – The Way We Burn – a little more conversation and a little less action could have these two on cloud 9.
In a freak turn of events Palmer and Kennedy are stuck playing the guessing game and finding out who’s really there for them, and who has ulterior motives.
Left on a cliff hanger, book 3 is bound to be a ride!
This book was well written with the characters being well developed and engaging they totally drew me in. The storyline is well written and flowed smoothly I had a great time with it.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the 1st book I’ve read written by J.D. Fondry; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.

I was on high alert for FROM THE ASHES. Palmer and Kennedy take you on a ride that’s without a doubt. They truly feel real and human. Imperfect from the go but to me that’s what makes a good romance, life is not easy so love is the same. The fairy tales highlight the good but you have to deal with bad to make it back not only strong for yourself but for each other.
The writing was on-point. It made each scene, unexpected surprises and characters jump off the pages.
I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.
