“Help me. I think I’m having a heart attack.”I called 9-1-1, I thought I was dying. He showed up to rescue me, but now he wants more. Can I ever love again with a broken heart? When stuff happens fast, we say it’s in a heartbeat. In a heartbeat everything changes. In a heartbeat our world falls apart. People die in a heartbeat, that much I know. But what about love? The very reason our heart beats … love? The very reason our heart beats in the first place.
I thought my heart was killing me and that brought Byron to my door. The brave firefighter I knew once upon a lifetime ago. Like every hero, he wears scars. Mine are worn across my heart. The same one that pounds in my chest whenever I look in his eyes.
Everything that happens fast is in a heartbeat, right? That’s how long it took to think I’d die. That’s how long it took for him to walk back into my life. The question is: Is a heartbeat long enough to fall in love?

What a wonderful second chance book. Byron and Myra have their ups and downs, but neither one is willing to give up on each other. A great second book to this series. Enjoy.
Great read! This book has it all-feels, steam, humor, and a love story. Myra has been living, if you could call it that, behind walls since her husband’s death-using her pain to make art but not really entering into reality, anxiety has her hold up in her world. Byron gets some wake up calls that open his eyes to the fact that he’s been just getting by in life-he’s raise a daughter alone, avoided commitment-made his own niche in life but when faced with how real life can pop up in your face he starts looking at things differently. Both Myra and Bryon need to heal, need to feel support as they explore the new status of relationship. Beautiful story!
I loved this so much!!! I’m so happy that Myra got her story. Byron was once a fixture in her life, until they both lost Ian. She withdrew form life and Byron couldn’t bear to be near her. 10 years later a 911 call brings them back together, and Byron can’t let her slip through his fingers again. At times this is heartbreaking, but it’s also a tender, sweet story about acceptance, forgiving yourself and moving on from the demons of the past all wrapped up in one smoking hot (pun intended) love story! It’s just so good!!!
The second in Eddie Cleveland’s firefighter series. This one follows Byron and Myra, who were supporting characters in the first novel. Myra and Byron both feel broken because of the tragedies in their pasts. Byron also has harbored a crush for Myra for at least a decade but has refrained from letting her know for one reason or another. Will they be able to overcome the things holding them back and make a new life together? I know I will certainly be tuning in to see, as well as looking forward to others in this series.
I received this book as an ARC, but I felt compelled to purchase it because it was so great. This book was easy to read in one go. I loved the characters and the chemistry and history they shared. This book made me laugh, but also made me cry.
Myra had a great lose earlier in her life, which made her shut everyone out. Byron wished he could go back in time and be there for Myra and now that he has his chance to get exactly what he always wanted, Myra.
Myra needs someone to melt the frozen state her body has become since the death of her husband, Ian. Bryon has guiltily stayed away from his best friends wife through all her years of torment while he dealt with his own confusing feelings- until a 911 call puts them back in each other’s worlds than it is crystal clear he is the one who needs to add some heat to hers while she adds splashes of color to his.
Talk about a story that has it all! Heartache to heart mend, the perfect blend of reality and fiction, sexiness mixing it up with the sassy and everything in between!
I hearted these upfront and center characters and how they handled the good, bad and uglies of life- another fan the flames of love and desire out of Pine Grove story that I did not want to put down!
Loved this story. Loved Myra and Bryon. Myra lost her husband and unborn child in car accident. Bryon was her husband’s friend. Ten years past since accident and Bryon is done waiting for Myra. Will he be enough to unfreeze her heart?
DISCLOSURE – On a volunteer basis I reviewed a free pre-released copy via the author.
An unconditional love page-turner read with engaging credible characters, suspense, action, comical moments, and vivid scene descriptions that pull your heartstrings. There are a few heroic deeds, fiery passionate romance and a heart-melting HEA for the hero and heroine.
Prone to panic attacks Myra has locked herself away in her home for years due to guilt and loss. Byron a courageous firefighter and friend from her past has kept his desires for her hidden. When Myra puts a call into 9-1-1 Byron comes to her aid. They face quite a few challenges before rising above the ashes to reach their happy forever after.
Engrossing memorable storyline that kept me invested in the characters until the conclusion. The romance is sweet and steamy. Byron and Myra are a perfect match; their chemistry shines with much devotion. Backstories give insight into each character’s past. Unconditional true love finds a home in this story. I found this to be a most gratifying read.
This book is a bit different from Eddie’s usual style. He continues to evolve his style and, for me, this book is so much better. He paints the picture with descriptive adjectives and you get a better feel of the emotions with the characters. Eddie also deals with a mental health subject matter with understanding and grace. The scene in the hospital, which is not related to the mental health issue, had me crying with laughter
The book draws you into the story from the opening pages right until the last words. Byron is a firefighter and Myra was one of his friends wife. Myra gas been dealing with the death if her husband a virtual prisoner in her house. Can he help her get back to living?
For honest review. Myra lost her husband 10yrs ago which still has her in a tail spin till her husband best friend Bryon comes back into her life . Beautiful story.
Fireman Saves the Day!!
Artist Myra lost her husband ten years ago and has gotten more and more homebound. When an anxiety attack has her calling for help, the fireman who assists is also her handsome neighbor Byron. Byron had stayed away because he wanted more than friendship from his neighbor, and suddenly all these years have passed. Loss, friendship, family, romance and a list or pros and cons combine to create a delightful story.
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
The character development and depth of Myra and Byron is phenomenal. Myra’s struggles are real and heart stopping and Byron’s struggle to understand and need to support Myra is truly special. What a chemistry between these two. 5 stars are not enough. Eddie, I hope at some point you can revisit Forged By Fire and give us more friends to cherish. A must read.
This story between Myra and Byron is HOT!!! Myra is an artist who has suffered major loss in her life, and as a result, she’s closed herself off from the world around her. Byron knew Myra years ago when he was good friends with Myra and her husband. After a serious accident killed her husband, Myra pushed everyone out of her life. Including Byron. When a call comes in at the firehouse about a possible heart attack, Byron recognizes the address as Myra’s house and goes rushing to the scene. Turns out, she was suffering from a major panic attack. Byron decides to stay with her for the night to make sure she’s ok because Myra was not comfortable going to the hospital. Myra and Byron realize quickly that there’s more than just an old friendship between them, but they’re both a little scared to test their feelings.
This was a great friends to lovers story. Myra and Byron have both suffered tragedies in their pasts, but together, they find a way to overcome their grief and Myra’s anxieties. It was a beautiful story that shows us how love can overcome any obstacle.
From the Ashes is the second book in the Forged by Fire series, but reads well as a stand alone. Byron responds to a 911 call and finds one of his oldest friends in a panic attack. Realizing that Myra means so much to him but hating how ten years have slipped by them, he hopes to kindle a relationship between them. But is Myra willing to let go of her past to find love again in her present and future?
There’s some truly beautiful and clever imagery in this book that I loved reading! I could completely visualize each scene, and I loved that some of the connections between Byron and Myra just leapt off the pages and I could just feel their chemistry! It was very well written! Byron seemed like such a guy, haha, not really understanding all of Myra’s pain or anxieties, but he was completely there for her, he was supportive, loving, and caring. And I loved Byron with his daughter, too! Myra had some extreme anxieties to work through, but I loved how much her heart wanted more out of life – especially life with Byron. They made a really sweet couple, helped each other, supported one another, and I loved the pride you could find in each of their hearts for their partner. Both made mistakes, but I loved that both wanted to work through them. This book is sweet, emotional, and steamy, but I loved every second I spent reading Byron and Myra’s romance!
I loved this book and cannot wait to see if there will be more in this town. There is a wonderful overlap between books that ties everything up. This book draws you in to the world of firefighters and makes you realize how difficult it is on the families and friends of the people.
Beautiful story
Eddie writes another great story. Myra and Byron story grabs you from the beginning from heartache to a great ending with so many emotions in the middle. Can’t wait for the next in this series
Another wonderful, heartfelt story from Eddie Cleveland. “From the Ashes” is the story of Myra and Byron. This story is about some heart wrenching, real life traumas. Myra has serious panic attacks from a horrific accident that happened years ago but she relives each night when she sleeps. Most of the time she can’t even leave her home, she has survivors guilt and thinks that she is unworthy of love. These traumas are real and are so well written in this story that you are feeling her anxiety, fears, tears and eventually joys as Myra deals with them.
Byron is a friend from the past. He’s a firefighter who runs to her rescue when he recognizes her address from a radio call for help. Without giving the story away lets just say that he has cared about Myra for a very long time, stepped back while she was grieving but now wants to do everything in his power to help her walk back into living again. He’s dealt with his share of traumas also so he understands what Myra is going thru.
Have a tissue or two close but also enjoy the joy of reading as these two wonderful characters find their way out “From the Ashes” and into each others lives. You will fall in love with other characters also.
This book from Eddie Cleveland is wonderful I give this book 5 stars. The characters are well written and I was able to imagine myself as the heroine in the book. The female character has had a tragic past and exiled herself to her house and her friend, a firefighter helped her to regain her strength to face the world again. They managed to fall in love with each other.
Wow another Amaaazing book Eddie.
Couldn’t put it down until I finished it (albeit for uncontrollable interruptions).
Amazing characters. Adored Myra and Byron… what can I say except he was a hero who was hot, hot, hot.
He was such a gentle giant and the way he cared for her was heart wrenching.
Myra herself was such a beauty. So sad for her living the life she was until her Knight came and saved her.
This is an amazing book that you will really love reading.
I am so enjoying this series and can’t wait for the next book.
You are a Hero yourself Eddie Cleveland. You write with such heartfelt passion and understanding you yourself are an amazing guy.
