Jaxxon Carter, barmaid, would like nothing more than to better her current situation. A one-bedroomed flat, a sleazy landlord, drug-addicted neighbors – not exactly a childhood dream. When a chance encounter leads to a modelling job, she is catapulted to the peak of success. She also finds herself the focus of lethally sensual Connor McKenzie, who she hasn’t seen since he left their foster home … home and went on to become a Formula One driver. But she has no intention of giving in to the mindless need between them. He hurt her once, and she won’t allow it to happen a second time.
Confident, determined, compelling…Connor McKenzie isn’t a man who deprives himself of what he wants. There was only one thing he ever resisted, and it was the one thing he wanted most: the unknowingly enticing Jaxxon. When he sees her on the cover of a magazine, it reawakens every urge he buried. She tries to keep him out of her life, but Connor can’t let it go. He resisted her ten years ago for a good reason. But now that reason is no longer there, and he’s resolute that nothing – not even Jaxxon – will stop him from having her.
Warning: This novel contains a feisty female who curses like a sailor, a persistent alpha male who doesn’t understand the word ‘no’, and explicit hot sex in some very public places.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Emma Wilder and she did an AMAZING JOB! Great accents, decent male voice, and a very convincing Jackson.
Now, the book.
What worked for me, were the engaging storyline, the alpha-crazy-mad-intense male character, and the sassy, sarcastic and fiercely independent female lead.
What didn’t work was the constant switching of POV. I think it’s a trend because I ran into it before. I like it when I get to experience more than one POV, but constant going from one head to the other is dizzying and I don’t like it.

Edit Review
I read this book years ago, and after reading Suzanne Wright’s paranormal novels (thanks to a recommendation from Sarah Curtis), I reread this book a few weeks ago.
I’m so glad I did because, even now, I still love everything about it.
Jaxxon and Connor grew up in a foster together with Jaxxon’s sister Leah. Both Leah and Connor left Jaxxon to live their separate lives. Connor promised to be back for Jaxxon, when he didn’t even visit Jaxxon’s life become worse. She grew up protecting herself until Richie discovered her and made her a face of Allure. She became famous but not only by modelling but also with her fierceness, sassiness and bitchiness. She never hides where she came from and she’s also proud of it.
Meanwhile Connor is now a Formula One Driver. He is also very famous. When he found out about Jaxx he did everything he can to be back in her life. When they met again for the first time you can’t deny their chemistry and the sparks were like everywhere.
Their story throughout the book was hilarious. I love how bitchy Jaxxon is, it’s kinda funny. I also like how she wants to be independent even though she now has 3 uncles who loves and willing to spoil her. I think it’s a good touch that Miss Wright used Ollie, Richie and Tony to be with Jaxxon and show that not all men are bad. It gives hope especially for those who were abused that there are still good people out there. The conclusion to when will Connor realise that he is in love with Jaxxon took a while, even though you won’t get bored reading it I still preferred that he realized it sooner but when he did, well I can say that it was worth the wait.
Big thumbs up for this book. This is one of my favourite
I must confess that this isn’t the first time that I read this book. I try to read it a while ago but I just couldn’t get into the story so I just stopped reading it. But this weekend I decided to make another attempt to read it and this time WOW! I just couldn’t stop reading it!!
And yes, I can understand that this book isn’t for everyone, the woman character likes to curse a lot and the man character is very stubborn and dominant but for me… I just loved them both. The writer Suzanne Wright has a way of telling stories that I really like. I find them very refreshing and the main characters like to speak their minds, no playing games or telling lies.
Jaxxon Carter is a young woman who grew up in foster care. It’s there that she met Connor McKenzie, a boy who’s two years older than her. The day he left their foster home he took her heart with him. He promised her that he would visit her but he never did. He wasn’t the only person that left her but he was the one that mattered the most to her. But life goes on and so did Jaxxon.
Life hasn’t been easy for Jaxxon but she’s doing her best to make the most of it.
However, she never expected to be one of those girls that would be ‘discovered’ by someone and then become a famous model. That’s not really her but if you get the chance to earn a lot of money then you take it and that’s just what Jaxxon did.
When Connor McKenzie sees Jaxxon on the cover of a magazine he’s curious. It makes him wonder what happened to that young girl that he once knew all those years ago. But he never expected that she would be mad at him. From the first reunion Jaxxon and Connor (and their friends) know that something special is happening but both Jaxxon and Connor are afraid of it, so they fight it in their own special way. But that’s not the only thing that is happening. Fame can be dangerous and Jaxxon has someone stalking her. Can Connor protect her from her stalker and will Jaxxon let him?
This story is told from both POV’s. Connor and Jaxxon were made for each other. I loved them both very much. This story had humor, some sad themes and very hot sex scenes! Their friends were loyal and fun. I was very happy that this story had an epilogue.
