New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Carrie Ann Ryan concludes her steamy contemporary stand-alone series with a secret that no one saw coming.Nate Brady and Myra West have been keeping a secret, though not just from their group—also from each other. Getting married when they were barely adults wasn’t in the cards when they made their plans for their future. Divorcing one another … another amidst pain and heartbreak wasn’t either.
Years have passed, wounds have scabbed over and scarred, but their anger remains.
If the two can open themselves to the impossible, they might be able to take that second chance. Only they’ll also have to fight their fears, the lies between them, and the desire they thought long gone.
Except they aren’t alone in their secrets, and if they aren’t careful, they may just be taking them to their graves.

This can be read as standalone, however I would recommend reading Far From Destined first. At The end of Far From Destined we learned that Myra and Nate have a past. Boy do they have a past. I loved Nate in the last book so I devoured this one. Everything about this book was great. From them coming clean, learning the truth about what tore them apart, and a surprise twist I never saw coming. Part of me is sad that the Pact Sisters and Brady Brothers have all gotten their stories, but the beauty of Carrie Ann Ryan is that the world of the Montgomery’s, that this is set, in is so big that there is plenty more to come.
I have been waiting for Nate Brady and Myra West’s story since the very beginning of the series because we were given a little teaser that these two had a past, a past that no one knew about. Well now we have the full story and what a story it is.
The pact sisters have come to the last one to find their HEA, it was now time for Myra to be set up on blind dates just as she had help do for the other pact sisters. But Myra makes it clear she will not end up with the last Brady Brother just because all of her “sisters” have paired off with the brothers doesn’t mean she will. This is because she has a past with Nate that the others aren’t aware of, a past that had her saying I Do and then divorcing him a short time later.
I have loved this series and as with the other book this one takes us on an emotional rollercoaster ride that had me second guessing if things would work out the way they should or not.
Carrie Ann Ryan weaves us a tale of young love torn apart by forces beyond their control then years later they are thrown into one another’s paths where hopefully they can have a second chance at love.
If you enjoy Second Chance Contemporary Romances I highly recommend this book to you.
Happy Reading!!!
4.5*s
The pact is now complete with Myra being the last member of the singles club, but they don’t know her big secret. As this group is a blend of Brady’s and Montgomery’s, it was only natural for the girls to put Myra and Nate on a blind date, but that ship has sailed, or has it? Nate and Myra have always sparked. When truths are revealed, battle lines blur, but the biggest battle will be for their lives. So good.
Another Wow Read! Debra @janise’s Jivin’ Book Blog
I have been reading the Promise Me series from the beginning and I have found the elements of suspense, action and intrigue plus the heat and romance of the stories to be nicely weaved together. From Our First was I feel a little different from the other three but still had those elements.
Nate and Myra have a history that the others didn’t have from the beginning. So their story is indeed different. When I was reading their story I was like “oh no” and “oh my goodness, can anything else happen to them”? You can’t quite believe some of the things that happen as you read it. I know I was like “why would someone do that?”
Our Brady family is as great as ever and we get to meet some new people from Myra’s side of the family. Some you will like and others not so much! Such is the life of a story. I love the Brady’s as they are funny, sweet, attentive and caring of each other and those that come into their lives through friendship and family.
Bravo on a good read!
A second chance story that is full of emotion, From Our First is the fourth and final book in the series. I have been waiting for Nate and Myra’s story and was not disappointed in the least. I loved it.
Nate and Myra was the best way to end this series of the Brady Brothers and the Pact Sisters. There is nothing to not Love about these two. Watching Myra thaw was truly amazing. However it doesn’t stop her from remaining a powerful woman. Nate—I just love him. Their back story was needed to understand their present. And it wouldn’t a Carrie Ann Ryan story without a little trouble along the way
Prior may have to move over as my favorite Brady. Nate and Myra had a secret and in this story we find out what it is and how it happened. I felt so bad for them. But watching them find each other again just made my heart smile. I love all the Brady’s and will be rereading them for some time to come.
I love the loyalty of this group of friends!
We finally have the final pact sister’s story. Myra is hiding a secret and it is huge. We were left with the perfect jaw dropping revelation at the end of Far from Destined. Well, our answers are here. Nate has been just as mysterious throughout this series and now we know why. He suffers from migraines from an accident that occurred. He is learning to deal with them by not putting others in danger. Myra is afraid to share her secret with her new friends because she fears they will abandon her.
Nate and Myra share a special past and have never stopped loving each other. But can they co-exist in each other’s lives with the past they share? Myra has her own issues with her family, and I felt so sorry for her. Nate is the support she needs, and I do not think they can ever do life without the other. From Our First is wonderful in the way the story unfolds. It has a little suspense, some mystery, lots of laughs and fun, and of course scorching hot scenes as well. Grab this outstanding story!
This was such a beautifully complex read. Nate and Myra inspire boatloads of feelings in each other and in the reader. The story wasted no time in pulling me in and kept me actively rooting for this duo. Their secrets, unresolved emotions, suppressed desires and heavy baggage make a potent combination that flows so effortlessly across every page that you never want to take a break and will in fact be very surprised at how much time has passed when you do manage to pull yourself away. The addition of a strong family and friends circle, major twists and some suspense is just the frosting on this already irresistible cake. This is my candid, freely posted review.
5 star review From Our First (Promise Me #4) by Carrie Ann Ryan
From Our First is the last book in the series and is Nate and Myra’s story. I knew that these two had a past and that it had not ended well, but this story reveals just how heartbreaking and devastating it was.
This is a second chance at love story that ticked the boxes for me. One can never forget the past but you can come to terms with it and move forward. The growth in their relationship throughout this story was heart warming and if they are prepared to take a chance, they might find the happiness that has alluded them.
Myra is the last woman standing and the other women are determined that she goes out on the blind dates that she agreed too, however she is not ready and she is shocked when she begrudgingly turns up to see Nate is her date. He is equally shocked as his brother’s have set him up too. What none of them know is that Nate and Myra were once married.
There were so many twists and turns in this book that I was riveted and read well into the night. From Our First was a fitting end to the series and one I enjoyed.
I love me some second chance love stories!!
Ms. Carrie Ann Ryan is a Goddess with stories and I always enjoy myself when I read her work. From Our First is the fourth and I -Think- final in the Promise me series. From book one, I have been DYING to get Myra and Nathan’s story, and it did not disappoint.
Nate and Myra’s story picks right up where the last books ends, C.A.R dropped that killer hook at the end of the last book had me screaming for the next one LOL. Nate and Myra have a past, one that is now affecting the new lives they have struggled so hard to rebuild. They both have family and friends together and now run in the same circles. Can they manage to put the past behind them and try to move on from the hurt in their pasts?
In their first year of college, with their first taste of being an adult, Nate and Myra feel in love and got married. Head over heels in love with one another, they wanted nothing more than to finish school and live their lives with one another. Unfortunately, life doesn’t always work the way we want it to. Divorcing, bitter pain and hurt cause Nate and Myra to hold to the hate, over time their wounds scab over and scar.
Now, after so many years have passed, the truth has been revealed and their chance to heal has finally come. Will they take it? Will Myra let go of the past and move on? Will Nate be able to forgive himself for the pain he has caused? Now that they know the cause of their pain, now that they know the truth can they wipe the slate clean and move on together?
Yahoooo!
Myra and Nathan, what can I say about these too…both so stubborn, both so young when the pain hurt. They trusted people who they thought there family, and that back fired. Myra’s parents are the worst, trash and the bottom of the bin and I truly hope they get what’s coming to them. For Myra and Nathan though, you can tell how much they still care about one another, but neither are willing to take the jump to heal the breach. -Shakes head- From Our First is a awesome read filled will raw emotion, pain and healing, love and growth, spicy moments and loving ones that warm the readers heart. Five stars and a must read for any reader that loves a second chance love story!
From Our First is about Nate and Myra. We have seen throughout this series that there is definitely a story about the animosity between these two and now we find out what it is. On top of everything happening with them, it’s Myra’s turn with the dating pact. It shouldn’t have been a surprise that it was Nate who showed up. This is where we start to learn about the past. In addition Myra also is dealing with family issues that impact so many things. I like to keep my reviews spoiler free, so I definitely recommend reading this story. You won’t be disappointed. You also don’t need to have read the other books in the series to enjoy this book.
I love 2nd chance romance and this one did not disappoint with all of the feels so get ready to get mad, sad, hurt because of treacherous people…then wondering if it can be fixed and scared to be broken again and, yet feel your heart fill with love like it did the 1st time. Loved the conclusion to this series and will certainly miss them all I volunteered an honest opinion for this book
Nate and Myra, you knew they had a past, and you knew it ended badly, but finding out the whole story was heartbreaking. What I loved about these two, and I truly did love them, was that their ability to let go of the past so it didn’t affect their future. They didn’t forget, they might not forgive everything, but they didn’t dwell, and moved forward. The ability to live in the present both worked and hindered them. They didn’t look too deeply into their own feelings, and that caused some issues. Their perseverance to continue and be happy won out though and made them all the stronger for their second chance, because, despite what had happened, they had never lost the love and bond between them
I was looking forward to this final book in this series and it was a great ending to this series. I have always wondered about Nate and Myra since we have found out a few things about them in the previous books. I was really surprised with what came out about their past and why they are not together any longer. Her parents are, in my personal opinion, a tad evil, but I guess money makes people do things even to their own child. I was sad when Myra found out about her grandmother and then when it was as though the rest of the family was conspiring against her, that was very troubling. I was shocked when Roland pulled what he pulled, but at this point with this family nothing should have surprised me. I was glad to see Nate and Myra becoming friends again and seeing if they might be able to find a spark between them again and of course our wonderful friends came together to be there for the two of them no matter what craziness was going on. My favorite line from this story is, ‘But as I held up my glass and cheered and toasted the three women I had made a promise to, I knew that no matter what past we each came from, the future would always be paved with family and hope and greater promises’. Great story to end this amazing series.
Secrets will only stay in the dark but for so long and definitely even less in this tight knit family. There was always a hidden tension whenever Nate and Myra were forced to be together, but family and friends being who they are automatically jump to the sexual tension explanation. So of course with their hearts in loving relationships of their own they want to share it. Unfortunately they’re all about to get hit with a real hard dose of the truth and then some.
Four and a half stars
From Our First is the fourth and last in the Promise Me series by Carrie Ann Ryan, tied together by a group of close-knit friends who determine to help each other find the love and support they deserve. From Our First is a second-chance story, for Nate Brady and Myra West, who fell hard and fast for each other when they were young, and then split agonizingly for all involved.
My heart broke for Nate and Myra and I longed for them to find a way to get past their pain and hurt and mistrust. Ms Ryan’s writing brings all the feels, and the emotions run the gamut from joyful anticipation to heartfelt longing to fiercely justified anger to soul-deep sorrow. And as with all her stories, Nate and Myra don’t go through this completely alone. They are clearly part of a loving community, who support and love and encourage and prod, wanting the best for them as well. These people keep them grounded when those with less positive goals for them try to interfere.
Ms Ryan’s story keeps the pages turning, with just the right mix of angst, suspense, and passion for an incredibly satisfying read!
What a wonderful conclusion to this series. Nate and Myra had been married quite young but nobody knew about it. It had ended badly due to a vicious lie her parents told him. Her parents were not to be believed in this story. i’m very glad they were not mine. As the news that they had been married came out to their friends and family, they got together to talk about how to be friends. And then they found out the chemistry between them was alive and well. There was lots of drama in this book and an out of control cousin, but as in all Carrie Ann’s books, all ends well. It’s a very good story that I will want to read several times.
We finally get to find out what Maya and Nate’s story is. We get to find out why they hate each other so much and how do they know each other. We finally get to see the heat self combust between them and walk with them on their journey – will It be a journey alone or a journey to happiness? We do know that the journey will have a bump it two on the road they travel.
And I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. I love these curmudgeonly grumbly people. I love how they have been there for their friends and family while keeping each other in the opponent’s corner….and yes I think the boxing reference is apt. These two are fighters, they are fighting the world, their past and each other….but can they fight their hearts? Their destiny? Their love?? Of course not….but it’s fun watching them try!
Once again I cried buckets and buckets of tears. But they were cathartic and beautifully pulled from my cold dead heart. Thank you Carrie Ann Ryan for taking me on this emotional rollercoaster. I’m just so sad that we have come to the end of the Pact Sisters and Brady Brothers stories. But I honestly loves the time spent in their company. I will keep them on my Kindle and visit with them from time to time
This is the last book in this series. Myra and Nate have an interesting past that they have been keeping secret, but they have to share their secret with their family and friends before they can move forward. Myra’s family has always tried to control her and in this story, we find out just how low they are prepared to go to get her to do things their way. Danger lurks as Myra and Nate try to sort out their feelings and their future. As with all of Carrie Ann Ryan’s books this story has lots of emotions but a HEA.
