Book 2 is Lyric’s epic journey to not only finding her true self, but growing into everything she can be. You’ll definitely want to read book 1 first, because it’s awesome and you won’t want to miss a bit! In book 2, we delve even deeper into Lyric’s new life – the friends, the foes, and best of all, the adventures. The action and suspense will have you flipping pages late into the night like I was, but it’s really Lyric’s emotional growth that resonates the most. The loss, fear, and uncertainty counterbalanced with hope and strength. Can’t wait for book 3!
4.5 Stars
As much as I liked the first book in this series this book is so much better!! From the first page I was sucked in and hooked. Can’t wait for the next book.
This is the second book of the series where we get to see Lyric’s story continue from where it left off in the first. She is back in the human realm as the book begins but knows she’ll have to return to help the realms find the peace and bring them together as she is the only one who can do it. However it doesn’t make anything easier and grows more confusing as her story unfolds. Lyric wants things that cannot be and no matter what certain things cannot change even if she wants and wishes it too. This is her life and her destiny and she must do what needs to be done. Overall the book was good and we gained a better understanding of Lyric and the others throughout the book. I look forward to the next one of the series to see what is in store for all of them.
From Flame and Ash is the second novel in this Young Adult series by Carrie Ann Ryan. After reading the first in this series, I couldn’t wait to get into this one. This book was just as great as the first. I love these characters and the world Carrie Ann Ryan has created. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is book 2 in the Elements of Five series and it absolutely must be read in order!! If you don’t read the first one, you won’t understand the events that happen in this one. Especially as this one builds upon the things that happened in the first book. Lyric lost everything when she found out about the Maison realm and her connection to it. Now she has to travel back to that realm in order to complete her training. But this time it’s with Easton and the other Obscurité warriors will stand by her side as she tries to unlock her final three elements.
I absolutely enjoyed this installment!! In this one Lyric learns that there are other’s against her that she didn’t realize before. And her and her new friends definitely have to figure out who it is exactly while still keeping her safe. Lyric has already been through so much and this, to me, just added even more to that pile. But she steps up like the strong person she is, which I loved! We get to see even more the other characters and get more of their stories. And that definitely drew me in and kept me wanting to read more. I also liked that there was a bit of romance in this one, which makes me think that at sometime in the future Lyric will not only get to where she need’s to be in her “professional” life but that she will also have a HEA with someone she will love! And I always love a good HEA!!! Can’t wait for the next installment!!
This series is so amazing. Every time I open the book I am completely sucked in!! I couldn’t stop reading. The characters have a depth that makes them so real that I forget I am reading. I need the next book in the series NOW!!
I absolutely loved this story!! It was a fantastic read and pulled me in from beginning to end. I was definitely not ready to be done with this book! This is the second book in the series and it picks up after the first one. This is not a standalone series. You need to have read the first book before reading this one and this is not the end. We do leave on a bit of a cliffhanger this time around. This story starts to fill in more bits and pieces of the prophecy and what Lyric is supposed to be as Spirit Priestess but we are still left with a lot of missing pieces, just the characters, especially Lyric. I loved the way that this book was written. We don’t know everything but we know what Lyric does, so while I have so many questions and can’t wait to get the answers I don’t feel like I am missing something or that I need to know at this point in the story (besides just wanting to know now lol). This story is longer and so you get to see the characters and more depth with them. We get to see them grow and mature as they are on this journey and trying to figure things out. This is a clean young adult read but there is plenty in it for both kids and adults to enjoy. This story is woven very well and sucks me in the whole time. This is different than other books that I have read and I really enjoy it and the realm that Carrie Ann Ryan has created. I am attached to the characters, more than just Lyric, but all of the main secondary characters as well. The ones that Lyric is starting to consider her friends and court. I cannot wait for the next book to come out and to see where things go next!!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
This was a great book !
The saga continues for Lyric
Lyric is back to the Maison realm.
She still have 3 more elements to unlock.
As the new Spirit Priestess, it is more imperative for Lyric to master all the five elements.
Not to worry!
She is not alone on this journey.
Loved the characters + the storytelling !
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Highly entertaining, emotional, gripping, action packed journey filled with intriguing charters, memorable dialog and heart racing twists and turns…. this is the continuing story of Lyric and her magical destiny. I really enjoyed this adventure and her growing circle of friends. Excellent reading!
Elements of 5 #2, This book pick up a year after Lyric returned home in that year she started college and trained with another person from the Maison realm. She knew it was only a matter of time before they needed her so she was prepared when it happened. Lyric has studied the history of the Maison realm and trained all that she can now she needs to awaken her other elemental powers. When she is called back it’s not by her friend Rosemund and her brother Rhodes it’s the new leader of the Obscurite, Easton.
Lyric learns that like the Obscurite the Lumiere has people against her and will do anything to keep her from becoming the Spirit Princess. Lyric and her friends, both new and old, must figure out who is behind this fraction that wants Lyric dead. New lines of the prophecy are learned just confusing everyone even more and Lyric deals with her new feelings for Rhodes and developing feelings toward Easton as well as learning to control two new elemental powers.
Overall, it was an outstanding book a great continuation of the series. Lyric’s circle of friends and allies is growing but the cast isn’t so large you get confused and with it being in first person it’s easy to keep track of everyone with just the one POV. I love the action fighting scenes Carrie Ann Ryan is a wordsmith with description it’s like a movie playing in my head it’s so easy to visualize. She also does well when it comes to refreshing our memory on the events of the last book, but it would be best of the first book was read first. My only complaint is that Lyric gets a bit repetitive in her train of thought, I understand she’s has a dilemma and is trying to sort through it but to mention one event over and over gets kind of tiresome especially when it’s at the beginning of the book but the rest of the book is so awesome that it doesn’t affect my star rating ( totally 5 stars).
From Flame and Ash is book 2 in Carrie Ann Ryan’s Elements of Five series. If you haven’t had a chance to read book 1 From Breath and Ruin, STOP now and go and read it before reading this book. Yes you can get away with not have read book 1 as the book gives you enough history to understand what has happened to be able to enjoy and continue with the flow, but why wouldnt you want to get a better understanding of the characters and where they come from. But just a heads up both these books end on cliffhangers so if that’s not your thing I would suggest to wait till From Spirit and Binding is released.
This book had me hooked from the first page, I was so enthralled and captivated by the fantasy, angst, suspense, and funny one liners. I couldn’t put it down and I highly recommend this series to anyone willing to listen to me…
Dark and Light have been at war for so long, many can’t even remember what the war was about to begin with.
Lyric is the Spirit Priestess and so much is expected from her. But having a title isn’t going to help her grow. She is just a baby compared to everyone in the Spirit and Lumiere Kingdoms. But as she evolves and starts to come into her powers you get a fill that she longs to be apart of this world that she had no idea existed and what glimpses she had seen had her so afraid that she was going mad.
I did find that this book seemed to drag and worry to much about who Lyric’s soulmate was instead of her focusing and working on her powers. I would have liked to see more of Lyric growing to be this strong powerful Spirit Priestess, instead of being a typical teenage girl worrying about boys.
But overall it was a very wonderful, addictive, captivating story and can’t wait to read From Spirit and Binding.
Carrie Ann Ryan gives readers a compelling and suspenseful read with the second installment of the Elements of Five Series, From Flame and Ash.
Lyric has lost all she’s known while coming into the new person she’s become. This journey takes her Obscurite Kingdom and into an age old battle of light and dark. Lyric makes stunning leaps coming into her power and learning to find her place. Lyric truly opens her mind to the reader allowing them to see all the struggles she deals with. Lyric’s quest to unlock her elements is captivating and magical. Lyric proves her strength time and time again as her world gets tipped upside down on more than one occasion.
Carrie Ann Ryan has something truly special going on with From Flame and Ash. Lyric is an amazing character. She goes with the flow, even as the flow has her life in and out of danger. The amount of growth we’ve seen from her in just two books is part of what kept me flying through the pages. The world building Ms. Ryan has put into the Elements of Five Series is outstanding. From Flame and Ash get very high praise in my book. I should note that YA/NA is not my normal cup of tea when it comes to reading but Ms. Ryan caught me with Lyric’s adventurous saga.
This newest release has more suspense and action that takes Lyric on a new worlds that will have you at the edge of your seat. I love the development of her character and her growth with all the experience so goes through. I can’t wait t9 see what happens next. If you’re a fan of YA Fantasy read this is definitely a must read for you.
This is book two of Lyric’s story, and I highly recommend reading book one first. I loved it, and I’m not usually into YA. But the world was captivating, Lyric is a wonderful character, and overall just a great story. I can’t wait for more!
Since I had read the first one I was glad not to miss this one. I do prefer reading in order if possible. This author has the talent for contemporary and paranormal so like reading them both from her. In this one continues with Lyric with what she needs to do. Of course it can not be straight forward how you might think it has its own way with in reality is how much of life is. This YA journey is also a bit refreshing with adventure front and foremost. The path keeps you going and you do not get lost. I actually think this would appeal to any paranormal fan, I can say this being a older person. This one gave good and wait for the next one.
5 AMAZING STARS!! Wow, this series keeps getting better. I was suck in from the first page to the last word. Lyric story continues and boy it does she put us into her world. I am loving this captivating series…I highly recommend it.
I loved Lyric and the other characters together. This book is action packed and filled with emotion. I was hooked by the get go.
Lyric is a part of the human world and the spirit realm. Lyric feels lost, but she knows she has more abilities to gain in the spirit realm. The more Lyric learns about herself, the more she learns about the spirit realm. Will Lyric accept who she is in both worlds? Will she learn how to use her abilities?
I loved this book. I could feel the emotions. It was definitely a page turner and I found it hard to put down. I highly recommend this book.
This is book 2 in the Elements of Five series. From Flame and Ash took Lyric on an expedition through two kingdoms, the Spirit & Lumiere. After training in the Maison realm she comes more prepared this time around. This book is both captivating and full of sorrow. The story is full of action, magic, and even a dragon! There are old friendships and some new ones. I’m not going to restate the book blurb, but if you enjoyed the first book and you’re a fan of YA Fantasy literature, then you’ll really enjoy this installment. From Flame and Ash gets 4 stars!
This is the 2nd book in this phenomenal series and you must read the first one before even starting this one!
This books picks up a year after From Breath and Ruin and once again you are catapulted into this new world where you are on the edge of your seat, unable to put this down as there is so much going on! I am very thankful for lazy Sundays.
These kingdoms have been at war for so long, they can barely remember why they were fighting in the first place. Its getting harder and harder to work out who can be trusted and who is an enemy. Lyric is the girl that they have destined it so be the Spirit Priestess, the one who can save them and unite to the two kingdoms. New friends are made to go with her old friends, Lyric brings out hope in them and gives them something to fight for.
I loved Lyric, this girl is amazingly strong having had the world as she knew it tipped upside down. She is constantly battling for survival against those that don’t want her to succeed. Add in the fact that she is torn between Rhodes and Easton, and that everyone else seems to know more then her but wont actually give her straight answers, how this girl is sane I don’t know.
Carrie Ann Ryan has done a phenomenal job with this series. Each book draws you in more and more, giving you some answers but raising more questions that have you literally on the edge your seat. The writing and pace of this tale is flawless considering there is so much going on. you are honestly immensed from beginning to end.
Now comes the wait for the next book From Spirit And Binding in July 2020!
Without having read the first book, I was able to pick up Lyric’s journey and understand what she was trying to do very quickly. Carrie made sure that the characters were written in a way that someone could understand and follow along. I can’t wait to read the next one and see where her journey takes her.
