I enjoyed this book. I found it more enjoyable than the first book of the series. I liked the dual point of views in some chapters of Skylar and Mason. Skylar’s father Victor shows back up in her life after leaving as to keep her safe from him and he was kind of a leader of the group of descendants that Tim and Noah are apart of. Skylar isn’t happy that her dad left her because he’d tried to k*ll her multiple times without even realising it but then found a bunch of other kids and could be a father figure to them which has to hurt. Skylar had a few runs ins with Ian and his group at college which annoyed me as how many times did Skylar feel weird or found out that her drink that Ian had made her tasted weird and she felt strange and passed out before waking up in the hospital but she never told Mason or the others even after she’d seen Mia, Ian’s ex-girlfriend use her powers. Like her life has been in danger before so why didn’t she tell anyone. I’m looking forward to seeing how their trip to the Underworld goes on their quest of k*ll Hades in order to save Victor and Gina, Skylar’s parents from Hephaestus’s clutches. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
Mary Ting has done it again. From Deities (Descendant Prophecies Book 2) is a truly superb novel. Skylar is a fantastic heroine and this novel with its mix of college life and descendants of the Greek gods is just incredible. Perfectly plotted and written, and with a superb cast of characters, it’s a more than worthy sequel to the wonderful first series book. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
My rating is actually 4.5 stars

And the adventure continues… As stated in the synopsis, more secrets are revealed!! The intensity and suspense keeps rising as Skylar and her friends continue on their quest to find answers and save loved ones.
Mary continues to “wow” me with her incredible character development and world-building. Even with the introduction of new characters throughout the story, each character maintains their own individuality and distinct personalities. As for the world-building, Mary has created a setting that is vivid and believable…even in a world of mythology and fantasy. I loved how the story flowed as secrets were revealed, which led them closer to the center of the mystery. And, boy, what revelations and twists were divulged which let me stunned. However, I did find that it wasn’t as fast-paced as compared to From Gods. But, it definitely does not detract from the story as a whole.
I am totally loving the romance between Skylar and Mason. Despite all the obstacles that lay in front of them, their relationship just keeps getting stronger. To top it all off, Skylar finds out the truth about her accumulating powers.
I’m getting the feeling there’s a lot more to the mystery than what was revealed. And, sure enough, there is! Oh, those twists and turns in this mystery action, adventure has definitely got me addicted! Time to read From Origins, so I can find out if Skylar, Mason, and all the other descendants succeed in this adventure.
