“When the broken man with scarred skin walked into Heathens, asked for a job, and showed me a sketch of a phoenix, it felt like fate.”~ AdamIt started with an anonymous post by someone who didn’t want to live anymore. I read it over and over again, unable to get it out of my mind. What if my brother Johnny had posted something like this before he’d taken his own life? Would someone have been able … have been able to save him?
I’ve been living a lie for 16 long years and I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be able to keep it up. And when a beautiful, broken man walks into my tattoo shop asking for a second chance at life, I know I’ll never be able to turn him away.
“When I was so far down I couldn’t even see the light, a stranger reached in to save me”~ Nox
I didn’t have anything to live for, until a kind stranger pulled me back from the brink. With physical and emotional scars I have nowhere to turn now but to that same stranger who saved my life without realizing it. But as my feelings for Adam grow, will I ever be anything other than a surrogate for the brother he couldn’t save? Am I even worthy of his love?

Loved this book! Adam and Nox are super sweet together. After everything Nox has been through, his ability to find love and happiness is humbling. Even though the story is a little dark, the ending makes it all worth it. Can’t wait to see Gage find his happiness next!
From Ashes is the third book in the Heathens Ink series, a contemporary romance series featuring hot tattoo artists as they find love. Adam is the owner of the Heathens Ink tattoo shop, but he’s kept an important secret for years: he’s bisexual. This secret shouldn’t be as devastating as it is, after all, Adam’s best friends are all gay or bi themselves. However, the guilt that Adam carries over his brother’s death has kept him from truly being himself and moving on. That is, until he meets Nox. Adam and Nox are both broken souls who need each other to finally heal. Their romance and love is truly special. This was a great story with romance, steamy sex, and a thrilling plot.
I enjoyed the way Adam and Nox’s book was divided. From part one with Adam reaching out to an online person in need and finding a connection that was a catalyst of change. Then part two after Nox has had time to begin to recover from things that had happened to him and come to Heathen’s Ink to meet Adam and start a new life.
Adam and Nox had such a natural rapport and a true bond based on getting to know each other in an anonymous way before actually meeting in person. But they also have chemistry and a connection that is undeniable. Both of them have survived terrible situations that have had a deep affect on their lives, feelings of self worth, and emotions. I will admit that I was a bit frustrated with Adam keeping his secret from his friends, especially Gage. The suspense parts added more intensity.
But at the heart of it is a sweet and inspiring story of acceptance, forgiveness, and redemption and shows how essential love and found family are.
I really liked Nox and Adam. Their romance was really good. Adam and Nox are really good together. Nox has really low self esteem, especially because of his asshole ex but Adam was super caring and you can really see how he respects Nox. I did think the stalker plot was bit over the top but I really enjoyed this book.
This is dual POV and can be read as a standalone, though there’s lot of references to the other books. I think Dani’s getting an mmf book? Is it already out? I’m looking forward to Gage’s book! Can’t wait!
Wow, I just knew this book would be good, it’s definitely the best one so far.
Nox has been to hell and back, It was hard to read and my heart broke for him. Adam may not have had it as hard as Nox, but he has not had it easy either. These two met at exactly the right time and saved each other’s broken souls.
Gage is the next in the series and I’m sure it will be as heartbreaking as this one
Fantastic characters that pull at your emotions. Amazing storyline that mixes humor, drama, romance, steam and all the emotions into a book that sticks with you and makes you want all the characters’ stories. A perfect addition to rest of series.
This book was so incredibly good. The fight both Nox and Adam have on daily bases, trying to make it all better for themselves… And the love they find in each other… Holy hell… I wanna add a million hearts to this review because OMG. I loved it.
The rawness and depth of all the emotions makes Nox and Adam so real. Nox’s past and the demons he overcomes are truly mesmerizing. I loved it.
So good!!
They say the. Author can make your heart hurt for her characters then feel such not when they start to rise out of their pain filled past is so beautiful. Every single book in this series has done that. Even more amazing is how she has made each character and story unique. I can’t wait to read more.
