This book is amazing! A new favorite series! I can’t wait for the next book.
This is a book I heartily recommend to teenagers and adults as well. Trixie is a new author but her grasp of good clean humor is simply amazing! In fact, I honesty can’t see anyone reading this book and not coming away with a smile from ear to ear after reading of Mitzy’s adventures!
If you’re looking for a rollicking good time here’s the book for you! I mean when you mix in “Grams” who is just recently deceased who Mitzy can see and talk to there are plenty of laughs to have.
The story is well thought out and it certainly held my attention! This book is a perfect escape from all the doom and gloom the media constantly inundates us with. I can think of nothing better
to chase away the blues than a good book!
Do yourself a favor a pick up a copy of this book today! You won’t be sorry! Out of a possible 5 star rating I give this book a 15!
I have read a good number of the books in this series, but started in the middle, so coming back to where it all began showed me a lot of backstory that isn’t necessary to understand later books, but adds more depth to a lot of the characters.
Mitzy was a little annoying at times, but she seems to grow out of it by the time I picked up the series, so it’s easily ignorable.
I’d easily give this 4.5 stars and even if I hadn’t read more books already I’d be picking up the sequel.
I found a new favorite series!

“I must say, this is an excellent novel. The plot – and the mystery – are cleverly crafted, and all the characters are quirky and unforgettable. The writing style is light and easy to follow with a good balance of descriptive prose and dialogue.” Female reader, aged 65
“I suspect this novel will be enjoyed by many younger readers who will like the energy of the protagonist and the fun, jolly style it is written in.” Male reader, aged 34
“I love the supernatural element to the story; it helped make the novel stand out. Mitzy Moon is the perfect character for a novel of this nature; she’s smart, street-wise, and always has plenty to say for herself. She reminded me a little Bridget Jones. The bookshop is also super cool.” Female reader, aged 55
“Plenty of humor, and a clever mystery for Mitzy to solve – with the help of a ghost and a crazy cat. The pacing in this story is excellent with plenty happening pretty much all of the time. The author also works well with dialogue and has good comic timing. I would recommend this to anybody who enjoys a good mystery and a little paranormal activity – and a lot of laughs.” female reader age 27
To Sum It Up:
‘A super-fun, paranormal mystery populated with unforgettable – and often ghostly – characters. A FINALIST and highly recommended!’ The Wishing Shelf Book Awards
This is book 1 in the Mitzy Moon Mystery Series. Orphan Mitzy Moon is having a bad day, just the latest in a string of them since her mom passed when she was 11 and she was put in foster care. Living in a crappy apartment and working a crappy job as a barista in a coffee shop, she knows her future’s not the best, but this is all she has right now. That is until a stranger knocks on her door one day with a wad of cash, an envelope, and a key. He tells her that her grandmother has passed away and she’s the beneficiary, only everything is in some town called Pin Cherry Harbor. Quitting her nowhere job, she packs her bag and heads out on a bus to claim her inheritance. Once she arrives, she finds out that her grandmother has left her a fortune, and a bookstore in downtown Pin Cherry Harbor. But no sooner does she set her bag down and enjoy a meal, does the local sheriff slap the cuffs on her for a murder she didn’t commit.
Now Mitzy needs to figure out who did commit the crime and clear her name using her grandmother’s caracal Pyewacket, who’s not your average cat, and a spirit tied to the bookstore, before the sheriff and his deputy Fife wannabe come back and haul her away for good. As this is going on, Mitzy is getting used to the fact that she’s not an orphan, a new town, new people, and a father that she’s never met.
I thoroughly enjoyed this paranormal cozy mystery. I love the interaction between Mitzy and Erick, and how the town is so open to having her there. No sooner did I finish this book, than I grabbed the second one and started that one as well. Great writing, wonderful characters, and an interesting storyline that keeps you reading late into the night, or is it early into the morning? I can’t remember which.

A fun easy read. The characters are well developed. I’ve bought the 2nd book in the series and look forward to starting it.
What a fun read! Mitzy Moon is a great character with loads of sass and a quick wit. Her newly inherited book store sounds like a shop I’d never want to leave. Mitzy’s got some growing up to do and she rises to the challenge while solving not one but two murders. Looking forward to the next book in the series!
absolutely love how characters are introduced and the consistancey of the story line offering teasers of more to come
Believing she’s an orphan, Mitzy Moon is shocked and surprised by a delivery letting her know that she has an inheritance from a grandmother she never knew about. Mitzy decides to leave Arizona and her job as a barista to move to Pin Cherry Harbor where she’s inherited a book store complete with a secret apartment and a closet full of clothes. She also has the ghost of her late grandmother who’s attached to the bookshop and discovers her father is alive. But when she finds a body in the alley by the Bookshop, she becomes a prime suspect so she begins her own investigation.
I really enjoyed this book which is first in the series. I’ve actually read some of the later books that I received as ARCs not realizing at first that they were late in the series. I loved them so I am catching up on the series. The book’s well-written with wonderful characters. I especially like Mitzy. I was drawn into this quick, fun book from the beginning and kept hooked until the end reading it in one sitting. I’m looking forward to the next book and highly recommend this one.
Loved this book. This is a cute book about a newly wealthy young lady who meets her father for the first time and solves the mystery of her grandfather’s death. She is assisted by a ghost of her grandmother and a super charged kitty. It was highly entertaining and I did not want to put it down!
When Mitzy comes to Pin Cherry Harbor, the town’s residents don’t exactly welcome her with open arms. In fact, she becomes a prime suspect in a murder. Can she clear her name with the help of her ghostly grandma and a feisty caracal named Pyewacket. This was a really fun murder mystery and I really got a kick out of the banter between Mitzy and Sheriff sexy pants, Erick.
Love Mitzy Moon such a fun outspoken laugh out loud character , new series to me cant wait to see what else she has in store .I love paranormal and this story has some magical tales to explore .
What a light hearted fun wild ride!!!!!! This was a great introduction to Mitzi Moon’s world!!!!!!!!! I got this in audio and the reader did a fantastic job!!!!!!! Everyone you meet is a fully formed quirky character that makes you laugh and enjoy the mystery!!!!!!! This book is the BEST COMEDIC Cozy “cartoon” come to life!!!!! I am immediately on to #2!!!!!!!
Great book! A different take on the poor-girl-inherits-bookstore theme. I loved the characters, the writing is good and holds your interest, and instead of a normal cat there’s a caracal. There’s a bit of possible love interest and visits by Grams’s ghost – all well treated and add to the fun and solving of the mystery and the book’s satisfying end. Some wonderful passages as Mitzy leads on a self-centered man – priceless dialog (I read it to my husband who thought it was great). Oh – and excellent proofreading as well. Definitely a series to keep reading!
Love the smart mouth on Mitzy Moon and her ghostly grandma.
Story was well written and the characters are fun. This was a new author to me when I read the book and the audiobook is just as good as the book. Can’t wait for more in the series.
Mitzy Moon may be having the worst day of her life. When someone shows up and says she has inherited a store she is not sure what to think. But, as things continue to get worse she decides it would be great to start over somewhere else. Of course things are never as expected, and her inheritance comes with a cranky assistant, a cat and her grandmothers ghost. The narrator did a great job with the story and I enjoyed listening the entire book. I am looking forward to the next in this series.
Mitzy Moon is behind on her rent, has a lousy job, and no family. Put when she opens the door to a little old man her life changes completely. She has inherited money and a bookstore from a grandma she never knew. When she arrives in town things go awry. She almost immediately become a suspect in a murder, inherits a cat, meets her grandmother’s ghost and much more.
This is a fun mystery. I love Mitzy’s character. She is unique, flawed, strong willed and full of spunk. The secondary characters are also unique and likable. The mystery is well plotted with quite a few twists and turns along the way.
I listened to the audio version of the book. The narrator Coleen Marlo does a fabulous job bring the book to life. She brings out each character’s personality. Great book to listen to made me aloud out loud while listening.
All thoughts and opinions are my own, and in no way, I have been influenced by anyone.
Oh my gosh. This book is amazing. It has it all, suspense, humor, murder, and it flows so well! The audiobook has the best narrator I have heard so far. Coleen Marlo does an exceptional job with all of the different voices for each character, she narrates extremely smoothly, and I love her sound effects! I think she is my favorite narrator now. Mitzy Moon is a fun character who has this whole new world thrown at her, and she accepts the challenge and goes with it. I can not wait to read/listen to the next book in the series. I received this audio book as an ARC for my honest opinion and review, and I have to say, it is well beyond entertaining!!
Audio Book Version:
I absolutely loved the book and the storyline, lots of tearjerker moments and funny moments. I wasnt too fond of the person narrating the book, as I felt she didnt put enough emotion into the reading, but I still loved the book overall.
