I love this new seties by Trixie Silvertale. I was given an advanced copy for an honest review. There is a bit of snark(which I like), and mild paranormal elements that I love. The characters are fun and I cant wait to see them develop.
5 Out of 5!! Oh so much to say.. This book starts out introducing a hungover, regret filled, broke young lady (Mizithra Achelois Moon), who finds her self inheriting a bookstore, closet full of vintage designer clothes, a vintage car, a predatory, fruity puff eating cat, and a family she never knew she had. She is embroiled immediately in a murder of a local and the fun begins. Add in benevolent ghost, family friends and a missing father and you have a delightful blend of old and new! Following twenty one year old Mitzy as she falls (literally) into a world she never knew existed. Her clumsy antics, knack for getting into trouble, and crushes on local law enforcement are both endearing and funny. I have read many cozy mysteries and loved how this particular book and it’s host of characters stand out amongst the many. There is a realism to the character. The author knows how to hold your attention with her “who-dunit” story line, the descriptive ability to bring the bookstore, aptly named Bell, Book and Candle, the towns people and the town of Pin Cherry Harbor to life. I look forward to reading other books by this author.
This is a new to me author. I really enjoyed this first book in her new series. I love cozy books & sometimes they all seem to be similar. This one was very different in a good way. Story was well written with great characters. I can’t wait to see what Mitzy & her Ghost-ma get into next.
I absolutely loved this book. Mitzi Moon grabs you from the first page to the last! She’s quirky, fun and hilarious! She starts out an orphan, when an old man knocks on her door her whole world changes. She discovers she has family she never knew about and a town that will love her! She inherits a huge bookstore, Pye who is a spoiled rotten caracal and her grandmothers ghost! This book had plenty of action, adventure, drama and mystery! The characters are wonderful as is the town of Pin Cherry Harbor! I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this new series!
I love this book! The characters are so much fun to get to know and I wanted them to be my friends. The main character is Mitzy Moon. She’s an orphan, a barista who is late on her rent, and she has lost her job when a man comes to apartment and notifies her that her grandmother had died and left her the estate which includes a bookstore. Mitzy sees this as a chance to leave behind her problems so she loads up everything she can in her clunky car. The first day she’s at her bookstore, she finds a body. She gets arrested for murdering him. With the help of her grandmother who is now a ghost (she calls her Ghostma – lol), she must discover who killed the man who is really her grandfather. I can’t wait for the next books to be released so I can find out what trouble she gets into next!
MitizinMoon the main character is witty and gifted to see her Grandmas ghost. Called Grandas.
She runs across awesome situations and its a wonderful paranormal book.
She can be funny , sassy and a amazing character. Your sucked in every firstbsentenve. Stay awake for hours if not careful cause it is WONDERFUL

LOVED THIS BOOK
A young, edgy paranormal cozy that was amazing!
First sentence and I was already intrigued.
Mitzy is tough, sassy, sarcastic, and broke. She has a dingy apartment and a lousy job. Then her life changes dramatically, completely, 180 degrees, and she moves to Pin Cherry Harbor, a small town where her late Grandmother lived. And it’s like stepping back in time! Mitzy’s reaction to carbon paper is hilarious!
Mitzy made me smile a lot with her wicked sense of humor. And her smarts. A diamond in the rough. All fight and no flight. And the comfortable banter between her and the ghost of her late Grams (Ghost-ma) was very entertaining! A clever mystery too. Or more accurate: two mysteries are intermingled. This cozy was somewhat edgier than most cozies I’ve read and I loved it! I believe it’s up there with the best!
This was the kind of book that has you turning the pages like mad and then you’re sad because it’s over and you have to wait until the next book comes out.
Quote 1: “His face says “not pleased” in at least five languages.” LOL
Quote 2: “Did I faint? I pinch myself. Ow! Apparently I did not faint. Another movie classic fails to deliver.” Love it!!!
The list of cozy mysteries I’ve read is short, but it’ll be growing now that I’ve read the first book in the Mitzy Moon series. The story is written at a wonderful pace and had many charming characters. Pin Cherry Harbor is the perfect cozy, yet perfect for a mystery too. The reason for 4 stars was because I struggled a bit with understanding how Mitzy could so easily have a relationship with her father. I can’t wait to dive into book two!
Right from the start I knew I was going to love this book and it did not disappoint. The characters are great, funny and witty. I loved the storyline and couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait for the next book to see what happens next, maybe a romance between Mitzy and Sheriff Erick?
What a fun and entertaining story. I love the main character, Mitzy. Pin Cherry Harbor is definitely the place to be. The characters in the book were well fleshed out and evoked so much life into the story. The plot was fun and the twists kept you guessing until the end. A definite candidate for your TBR pile, you will enjoy the book. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
This was a fun, laugh out loud mystery! Mitzy is delightfully snarky and Grams is an absolute kick! And then there is Pyewacket…the most AWESOME familiar EVER! I can’t wait to read more in this series!
I had so much fun reading this! Murder mystery, old and new case, ghost, visions, embezzlement, cheating spouses and small town gossip! Can it get any better?! Yes it can! Pyewacket is the best!
What a delight. I absolutely loved the characters. The small town makes me want to move there. I would love to own the bookstore, with all of it’s surprises.
Can’t wait to read more about Miss Moon!!
Fries and Alibis is filled with energy and action from the first page and never stops! Trixie Sivertale has written a fire-cracker of a start to the Mitzy Moon series. Mitzy is a tough, sarcastic, snarky, smart, and occasionally vulnerable leading lady who has experienced more than her fair share of hard knocks from life.
Things may finally be looking up for Mitzy when she inherits a book store from a grandmother she knew nothing about. Mitzy ditches Arizona for Pin Cherry Harbor and doesn’t look back. Her introduction to the town is pretty awful – she is accused of being a vagrant and then she is arrested after finding a dead body behind her bookstore.
Fortunately, Mitzi has some amazing allies in her corner: Isadora, her “Ghostma”; Tiggy, store assistant, and her late grandmother’s best friend; Silas, the attorney; Odell, cook, and proprietor of the local diner; and Erick the hot sheriff.
Mitzi is faced with a gargantuan task – she has to adapt to Pin Cherry Harbor, prove herself innocent of murder, and meet the dad she never knew.
All of the elements of Fries and Alibis combine to make a really strong and compelling cozy mystery. I am really looking forward to the next book in the series!
I received an ARC of this paranormal cozy mystery and looked forward to discovering a new, quirky, literary character. Little did I know I would add an entire community of folks to my “must read more” list.
With each character having a connection to Mitzy’s recently departed Grandma, small town stories and relationships enhance two mysteries that need to be solved. There’s even a feisty feline that makes unexpected appearances throughout the story.
The writing is clean and reads quickly. Grab your favorite cuppa and snuggle down for a fun read.
Witty, lol funny, heart touching, mysteries, wonderful characters, great little town, books, mysteries, this was such a fabulous book I can’t wait to read the next one. Trixie you are a terrific new author that I am so glad that I am able to be part of your series just by feeling like I belong in your book.
I love the humor in this story. The way it flies off the lips and makes me laugh. I also like the way Mitzy has no filter at times. She just blurts out what is on her mind at the time. It’s a very good story and I think I will look into more of the series with Mitzy and the tan terror. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
What can I say about this book. I got it as an ARC read from Hidden Gems and I’m glad that I put in for this book. I love a good cozy mystery and this book is no exception.
I loved Mitzy and Grams well they are both easy to fall in love with. I can see that there is going to be some awesome banter between those two as the series continues. Sherif Erik Harper well lets hope something blossoms there but its still too early to tell. I hope we see more of Jacob in some way and all secondary characters like Twiggy, Tally, Odel even sherif Pauly looks like she’s going to get some great lines.
I’m so looking forward to more of this series.
This freshman entry by new author Trixie Silvertale is worth a shout-out.
Mitzy Moon, a harried barista who hasn’t had the greatest start in life, suddenly finds herself inheriting a magical bookstore in the town of Pin Cherry Harbor. Turns out that even though she thought of herself as an orphan, and actually spent her teen years in foster care, her bio-dad’s family was keeping track and her grandmother included Mitzy when writing up her will.
Of course, it’s never a good thing to arrive in town the same day a dead body is discovered behind your newly-inherited bookstore. Especially when you don’t make the best first impression on a very impressive hunk of a town Sheriff! Fortunately for Mitzy, she has the help and support of her recently departed grandmother – a ‘ghost-ma’ if you will, along with Ghostma’s friends, family and familiar Pyewhacket the caracal. Mitzy even gets to meet bio-dad and help clear him of a murder he’d been accused of years ago.
Fries and Alibis is a more than worthy entree into the world of cozy/paranormal mysteries. I absolutely love the quality of writing and I’m seriously looking forward to the next installment in the Mitzy Moon series.
This book was a fun, funny and st times heartfelt read. Mitzy finds her life is turned upside down but for the good. When Mitzy gets to the new town she its accused of murder and has to find a way to prove she didn’t do it. She is cleaver, smart, funny and sarcastic. My favorite kind of heroine. the hero of the book Erick needs some help with being a Sheriff and I hope he gets smarter in future books. It will be fun to see how Mitzy does in her new town and where if any relationship goes with Erick.
*I received a free copy of this book via Hidden Gems and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
