Something is rotten in the state of Denmark… Or in the state of Kirby Lawrence, a woman who is NOT attracted to her best friend, bad boy rock star, Colin Donovan. Not even a little bit!No matter how good his butt looks in those jeans… Crap, I’m looking at his butt. Colin’s butt! And the butterflies in my stomach are discoing now. Discoing!I avert my eyes, but it’s too late. I have already had … it’s too late. I have already had thoughts I shouldn’t have had, and flutters that shouldn’t have fluttered.
And I have a horrible feeling there’s no coming back from this.
No going back to the way things were before I realized that a part of me wants to climb my best buddy like a tree and make out with his sexy face…
Meet Colin and Kirby in this fun, flirty Standalone prequel to THE BANGOVER!

Aww, the best friends to lovers trope. It’s a winner every time! Who knew that vampire snowmen were a thing? Well, apparently they are. Now, I really want to make some this winter during our first snowstorm. I mean, pickle fangs? Fake cherry juice for blood? This story was totally inspiring!
OK, down to the review. I feel a teensy bit guilty for counting this as an entire book. But, hey, Goodreads is counting it as one so why shouldn’t I? Am I right? You know I am. OK, full confession, this is the first book that I’ve read penned by Lili Valente. But, not really! Lili Valente is one of the pen names that Pippa Grant writes under. Or, maybe Pippa Grant is a pen name and Lili Valente is the author’s real name. Either way, it doesn’t really matter. I have adored Pippa Grant’s writing style and sense of humor for a few years. She. Is. Hilarious!!!! But I digress…here’s my review, for real this time:
Friends with Bang-ifits is a terrific setup for the first full book in The Bangover series. As mentioned previously, this is a best friends to lovers trope (one of my faves). Although, the actual deed isn’t done in this one. I hope that doesn’t spoil it for you. There’s still plenty going on. Plus, did I mention that this is a great setup for the series? Do you have to read it first? Probably not. But, I haven’t read the actual first full-length book in the series so I can’t truly answer that with utter confidence. If you’re looking for a new rom-com series you won’t regret picking this one up. Even though it’s short, it will have you laughing out loud before you know it and ready to dive into the full-length story of Colin and Kirby. Which I’m doing right after I post this review………
This delicious prequel is just what I needed to understand Cutter & Kirby even better! If you haven’t listened to Banging the Enemy yet I very highly recommend listening to it directly after this book! If you have already listened, this is the perfect addition to give more character background. Now I need to listen to Banging the Enemy again – One of my favorites! Kirby is smart, spunky, adorable, and takes no crap from Cutter…and I love it! Cutter is a hot, haughty, beautiful clueless jerk in the beginning and eventually grows up and evolves. When they connect and make peace it’s a great conversation and perfect example of adjusting your opinion when you learn more and allow someone to grow from their mistakes. At 44 minutes this is the perfect treat for anyone who wondered how they met, how their relationship evolved, and what happens when they grow up. It’s fun, funny, smart, delightful, sexy and perfectly performed in DUET by Lili and Jason – two of my absolute favorite narrators. This prequel ticks all of my boxes!
I love everything by this author. You can’t help but fall in love with the characters and story line. It is some funny stuff.
Friends with Bang-ifits by Lili Valente is a quick and fun prequel to The Bangover. In this novella, told in first person, single POV, we meet Kirby and Colin, and get a glimpse into their friendship. It’s fun and flirty with snappy dialogue. An enjoyable read.
Oops! I read the prequel after reading the Bangover. Loved Kirby and Colin’s friendship in this story and it made me appreciate their HEA even more in the follow up.
Great introduction to the characters in this series. Kirby and Colin have been life long best friends. But could they or should they be more?
A quick and fun prequel to The Bangover!
This novella perfectly shows the closeness and easiness of Kirby and Colin’s friendship. They’re best friends, they’re a little bit flirty, they tell each other everything…their relationship is adorable.
Aw!! This was so fun! I love Kirby and Colin and it was amazing to see what their friendship was like before the kiss that launched The Bangover. Kirby’s first Flutter. The change in the air between her and her best friend. To just get more of them which I will always appreciate.
Just like Lili said…it’s a fun and flirty prequel. It’s not full of swoon and sex. It’s them as friends and the glimpse into their friendship before it all changed.
I loved it. You can read it before or after a The Bangover. I read it after since that’s when it was released. If you read it before then you will definitely want to see what happens next. Thank you, Lili for giving us more and a FREEBIE.
Quotes:
“You look fine. Same old Larry, covered in cat hair and not giving a shit. How’s the new kitten by the way? Still slaughtering everything in his path?”
Kirby: Peter and I went for a walk on the beach last time he was here. I think I wore it then.
Colin: How romantic. Did he wear khakis?
“Imagining your weird nipples is going to give me nightmares if I’m not careful.”
“I do not have weird nipples.”
“That’s what all the people with weird nipples say, Larry.”
