Friends in Low Places is an action-packed crime thriller with plot twists galore. The heroine Jacy Adams, hasn’t let her tragic past sway her from her search for a better life. She quits a rat-race accounting job for what she believes will be a less hectic lifestyle job at a boutique airline. Little does she know that she’s signed onto a position that will bring her into direct conflict with members of a South American drug cartel. But never fear, Chad Turner, the office supply manager, is really an undercover FBI agent and he and Jacy with the help of friends will make a formidable team unraveling the best-laid plans of the criminal cartel.
Friends in Low Places is a roller-coaster ride of emotional u and downs, murder and intrigue, and action and adventure. But most of all it’s about second chances and a hot romance.
This book has well-developed characters and a great story line. I found the story moved along and was entertaining and very fun to read.
Jacy Adams is starting a new job at a charter airline company after quitting her high-pressure job at an accounting firm so she can find more balance in her life. This book also has a romantic interest. With her best friend Krista only a phone call away and her younger brother Danny moving in with his big, rambunctious dog, Jacy’s life doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all. In fact, there is plenty of high stakes excitement happening, when the previous accountant is found murdered and people come after Jacy making threats. Enter love interest, Chase, a handsome guy who works in the mailroom. On the surface, Chase appears to be an underachiever. But is he really? Chase always seems to be around when she is in danger or needs his help. But I will not say anything more for fear of giving anything away. No spoiler alerts here. You will have to read this book and find out for yourself all the exciting twists and turns and discover if Jacy Adams has the stones to expose the corruptions and bring down the homicidal drug traffickers that have infected the organizations she works for. Definitely an exciting read.
Well worth the Read!
In ways, this book is an old-fashioned potboiler brought into the 21st century with modern references and characters. Although the pacing was slow at times, the layers of development were necessary to bring the book to its exciting, page-turning, edge-of-your-seat climax.
Twists and turns abounded, and the romance between Jacy and Chad was realistic and sweet. This was the first book I read by this author but I look forward to her next endeavor.
I downloaded this book for free from one of those book promotions, so my expectations were low, but I was pleasantly surprised. It turned out to be a real page turner with awesome characters, plenty of romance, suspense, and a touch of humor that actually had me laughing out loud at times.
Romantic suspense at its best! Mystery, action, a hot romance and a couple of plot twists I didn’t see coming.
This is my first book by Evelena Evans and it was incredible! Jacy has no clue what she signed up for when she gets a new job. There are twists and turns you don’t see coming and an incredibly sexy guy to top it all off. Can’t wait to see what happens in book 2.
Wow – this book has it all! Mystery, action, a touch of comedy and a steamy romance. Highly recommend! It is book 1 of a trilogy but reads as a stand alone with no cliffhangers at the end. I just downloaded book 2 and can’t wait to start it!
Too many “oh, by the way…” situations. And, I have to say, Jacy has had a trashy life. Her name should have been “Lucky”. No way this many tragedies could happen to one person.
Considering she was raped as a teen, she is surprisingly hot for men. I would have thought she would have been more reserved and careful. Silly me. She is almost raped by one man on the first date and falls in bed with another, that she knows absolutely nothing about, a couple of days after meeting him.
I feel there is way to much going on in this book. Multiple story-lines, past and present. Considering this is supposed to be the first offering in a trilogy, Ms Evans could have left something for the next two books.
