From #1 New York Times bestselling author Sandra Brown comes a gripping story of family ties and forbidden attraction. Crawford Hunt wants his daughter back. Following the death of his wife four years ago, Crawford, a Texas Ranger, fell into a downward spiral that left him relegated to deskwork and with his five-year-old daughter Georgia in the custody of her grandparents. But Crawford has … grandparents. But Crawford has cleaned up his act, met all the court imposed requirements, and now the fate of his family lies with Judge Holly Spencer.
Holly, ambitious and confident, temporarily occupies the bench of her recently deceased mentor. With an election upcoming, she must prove herself worthy of making her judgeship permanent. Every decision is high-stakes. Despite Crawford’s obvious love for his child and his commitment to being an ideal parent, Holly is wary of his checkered past. Her opinion of him is radically changed when a masked gunman barges into the courtroom during the custody hearing. Crawford reacts instinctually, saving Holly from a bullet.
But his heroism soon takes on the taint of recklessness. The cloud over him grows even darker after he uncovers a horrifying truth about the courtroom gunman and realizes that the unknown person behind the shooting remains at large . . .and a threat.
Catching the real culprit becomes a personal fight for Crawford. But pursuing the killer in his customary diehard fashion will jeopardize his chances of gaining custody of his daughter, and further compromise Judge Holly Spencer, who needs protection not only from an assassin, but from Crawford himself and the forbidden attraction between them.
FRICTION will keep you on the edge of your seat with breathtaking plot twists and the unforgettable characters that make Sandra Brown one of the world’s best-loved authors. It is an extraordinary novel about the powerful ties that bind us to the ones we love and the secrets we keep to protect them.

Sandra Brown is one of my favorite authors and role model in my own writing career. I love most of her books, especially the ones she wrote after 1990, when she started to grow as an author and her plots became more intricate. Inspired by her, I’m working on that too. 🙂 Great writer!
Love anything this author writes
Pretty good read. Better than most of Sandra Brown. I would recommend if you’re already a fan.
I literally just had to pry this one out of my hands so that I could write this review. I won’t waste time making up my own little summary for it, I just want to dive right in to my review while the story is still so fresh on my mind. Before I say anything, if you know me, then you know that I’m a big fan of Sandra Brown. I have been for quite a while and for a number of reasons but the most important reason is that this talented lady has written a crap-ton of books and not one of them read the same … they are all unique and somehow she is always able to surprise me in the end. Each time I read a new one from her, I always think that it is THE best book she’s ever written and that no other would ever be able to top it. Well, that’s what I think until I get my hands on the newest one. And then THAT one becomes the best book she’s ever written. It seems to be a vicious cycle. Anyway, what I was trying to get at is that this one (Friction) is the best one that she’s ever written. In the history of ever.
Let’s see … I know I need to discuss character development and all of that but it’s Sandra Brown. Of course it is going to be amazing but I’ll go over them a bit anyhow. Mostly because I want to talk about Mr. Sexy Texas Ranger Man. That’s what I call him at least. But first, the heroine of the story needs to have a moment … Holly is … pure. That’s really the first word that comes to mind. This lady was an amazing lawyer and now she has temporarily taken up a judgeship with an election coming up for a permanent seat on the bench. Holly is honest to a fault even when she doesn’t want to be, she is clearheaded, she isn’t one to be bullied and she is as sweet as could be. She’s basically one of those “perfect” characters that I HATE reading about. No one likes perfect. It’s a fact. But Sandra Brown took that perfect lady that comes in a perfect package and made her seem personable and someone that you wanted to be around. And it takes a lot for me to feel like that for a character because I like the screwed up ones so much.
Enough about Holly, let’s move on to the shit-kicker (or cowboy boots for all of you city folks out there) wearing hottie. Dear, sweet, baby Jesus. Crawford. Oh, Crawford. This guy won’t take shit from anyone. He commands authority in such a way that even I was ready to go out there and check out those phone records he wanted. He acts like a mean badass but in reality, he’s a softie. He loves his little girl with abandon and anyone close to him has no reason to fear for anything because he protects his own. And that was sexy as hell. I could really go on and on about him but it’s already starting to get awkward.
I liked all of the other characters as well and not because they were good guys but because they were just written so realistically. You can’t always pick out the good guys with Brown and if she can pull the wool over my eyes with multiple characters in one book, well, then she’s a genius.
The plot … so many things to talk about but I don’t want to give anything away. I’ll just say this, true to Sandra Brown form, it is a fast paced novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat wishing for more. I was so excited to read this one that I just flew through it and now I’m having reader’s remorse. I wish I had slowed down and relished it a little more than I did. Oh, well. Can’t get that back but I will tell you this, I’ll be reading Friction again and it will be soon. I miss my hunky Texas Ranger.
* I received this novel in exchange for an honest review *

Shortly after the case gets underway a masked gunman bursts into the court room on a mission to kill. It has been a while since I have read a book by Ms. Brown, and I have to stay it didn’t take long at all to remember why I love reading her book’s so much. She is a master at spellbinding mysteries that keep you on the edge of your seat. This is definitely one of my favorites so far, it was action packed, had a touch of spicy romance, and it kept me guessing until the very end! Definitely one you should add to the top of your reading list, it’s sure to satisfy all your reading needs, and then some!
This is the second Sandra Brown book I have listened to. It was an audio book, that made me want to not turn it off! Grabs you from the start and you hang on tightly through the twists and turns all until the end. The romance between Crawford and Holly, as well as his relationships with little Georgia, his in-laws and his estranged father are well described and give you a vested interest in these, and other characters.
I’m a huge fan of Sandra Brown and I wasn’t disappointed!
Anything written by Sandra Brown is a yes from me. Crawford is stubborn and self-destructive. Holly is equally thick-headed and condescending. The fight is on and sparks are heating up.
It was a little too sexually explicit for my taste.
Try to read all her books.
Anything by Sandra Brown is worth reading. Friction was a stellar read!
Always a good read
Sandra Brown is great! While some authors lose their ability to write an interesting book time after time Sandra Brown continues to keep ’em coming, just not fast enough!
The characters in this book were very enjoyable to follow through all the twist and turns.
Again, Sandra Brown’s books are always enjoyable reading and I’ve read most of them. She has graduated from just romance to some mystery in her books which adds a good flavor. My only complaint, same as I have with most books, is why there always has to be several chapters of just plain sex, sex, and more sex…..sex doesn’t always enhance a love story – truthfully it gets boring and I tend to zip past it, but that is just my opinion.
Love this book. I can hardly put it down.
A good read !
Sandra Brown fails to disappoint me and this book is no exception. Great plot and characters, with twist and turns that make it hard to put the book down till you are finished. Brown is one of the few authors I buy without looking at the plot synopsis and I buy her books right after they are published.
Well paced, entertaining, but Ms Brown could have done so much more with the plot to make it less predictable, and thus not one of her better efforts.
Sandra Brown will never lets you down, when she writes a story you’re guaranteed to be hooked from page 1… this one is no different!
I always enjoy reading a Sandra Brown book. She providers her readers with just enough -that you can’t put it down.
