Book three in the Killer Coffee series. Welcome back to Honey Springs, Kentucky the most adorable small town on the lake. Roxy still runs her coffee shop right in the middle of the boardwalk and now it is Christmas time. Things are going great until the town tree lighting reveals a dead body tucked under the bottom of it. This must have really ruined the mood for the night I have to say. Not being able to help herself Roxy starts looking into things and man does she uncover some really good dirt that I did not see coming. This was a fascinating read that really kept me guessing trying to figure how who really did do it. I think it is the little details that Tonya puts in her books that really make them stand out with one being no exception. If you enjoy a good cozy mystery that a culinary flair to it then you really have to give this one a shot or I suggest the whole series to be honest. I really enjoyed it so I give it 4/5 stars.
Tonya Kappes is quickly becoming one of my favorite cozy mystery authors. Her books are just so effortless. Meaning they are easy to pick up, engage with the characters, and provide me with reading enjoyment, even if I’m not starting the series at book one.
Freshly Ground Murder is the third installment of the Killer Coffee Mystery Series. It is Roxanne Bloom’s first Christmas in Honey Springs and she can’t wait to take it all in. But when a friend and fellow business owner is found murdered, she just can’t stay away from asking a few questions. Start to finish this book will have you as hooked as a great cup of coffee. Here are my top reasons to read this book.
Christmas Cheer
Who doesn’t need a little Christmas spirit (regardless of the time of year)? This book is a comforting and enjoyable jolt of Christmas and really had a way of putting me in the mood for the holiday season to arrive.
A Culinary Cozy
If you’re a fan of the culinary cozies, you’ll love this book. You know the type of book I mean. Filled with imaginary of a quaint and charming coffee house. The protagonist is always whipping up a mouth watering creation in the kitchen. I was happy to see recipes are included with this book because I found myself anxious to try some of the creations I was reading about.
You Can’t Go Wrong with Coffee
I’m a coffee lover. From the smell, to the jolt of energy, to the blast of flavor. I love that coffee had a featured role in this book and I found myself intrigued by Roxie’s recipes for Christmas Harvest Blend Coffee and Christmas Coffee Bean Bark. I’ve never tried eating coffee beans before, but there is a first time for everything!
Let Your Holiday Cheer Start Right Now
And treat yourself to Freshly Ground Murder by Tonya Kappes. You can never go wrong with giving yourself the gift of a good book this holiday season and this one is sure to be a hit!
When a body is found under the town Christmas tree at the lighting ceremony everyone is shocked, especially when it turns out to be Otis. Otis was a well liked and respected member of the community. Roxy doesn’t intend to investigate she just can’t help herself, Otis was not only her neighbor in business but also a friend. When she finds out he was apparently hiding something she starts seeing him in a different light. Did his secrets have anything to do with his murder, and will she be able to dig out the truth? This is such a great series, the relationships between the characters always feels real and has me wanting to meet them. I look forward to revisiting them and their town long before the next book comes out. Dive in and I think you’ll love them as much as I do!!!
Freshly Ground Murder is a wonderful Christmas cozy mystery book. It is so fun to read. I loved this book. I love the characters. This book is interesting and captured my attention right from the beginning. The mystery has many twists and will keep you guessing. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more in this series.
Yay to another Christmas mystery! Freshly Ground Murder is a good continuation of the Killer Coffee series. It’s nice to see what is happening with all the characters in the story as the series progresses. Especially in a fun Christmas setting. Another interesting mystery in the cozy town of Honey Springs.
Roxy is at it again. Can she find the killer?
It’s the annual Christmas Tree Lighting but as the lights go on, those in attendance realize there is a pair of legs sticking out from under the tree. Another resident of Lake Honey Springs has been murdered and Roxy Bloom is on the case! This is just another great addition to this series. I am also enjoying all of the recipes that are shared in each book.
2nd reading and I enjoyed it even more than the first time because you can feel a real connection with the characters. Love all the characters. Patrick and Roxy’s relationship is so sweet and it’s nice to watch it slowly evolve. The mystery was a really good one and sure had quite a few twists. While I kind of guessed the killer, I didn’t know exactly why. And definitely a few surprises by the end.
It is Christmas time in Honey Springs and Roxanne (Roxy) Bloom of Bean Hive Coffeehouse is ready for her first holiday in town. The town is gearing up for its annual Christmas in the park including the lighting of the town tree and the holiday pawrade of animals. Unfortunately, the festivities are interrupted by the discovery of a body under the town tree just as the tree lighting services is about to begin. Now Roxy finds herself with a mystery to solve and a long list of suspects. Can she find the murderer before her first Christmas in Honey Springs is ruined?
Where do I begin? Tonya has a way with creating characters and stories that the reader is going to enjoy. There has not been a single book that I haven’t been able to instantly bond with the main character and not wish that she was part of my group of girlfriends. Roxy is no different with her southern charm, whit, and devotion to her family and friends. You can’t help by smile about her sweet romance with Patrick and laugh (sometimes cringe) at the antics of her Aunt Maxi. The story itself has just the perfect mix of cozy mystery, romance, and humor that keeps the reader from putting the book down.
This is the third book in the Killer Coffee Mystery series, but can easily be read as a stand-alone since the author gives you just enough details and insight into the previous books.
Another great coffee mystery! Roxy is bound determined not to let anything ruin her Christmas in Honey Springs. But a pair of legs that belong to a dead body under the town’s main tree will put a damper on things. Can Roxy solve this mystery and still have a great Christmas? So grab a cup of your favorite beverage and start reading. You will love the residents in this small town. I can’t wait for the next installment.
What a fun book. The characters are so real and quirky. The story line is solid and you do not know who the killer is until the end. The small town atmosphere is done so well that you feel like you are visiting there. Very well written. Love this series, and looking forward to reading more of this authors books. Also, cannot wait to try some of the recipes. A very good book recommend to all mystery lovers.
“Freshly Ground Murder” earns 5/5 Secret Santa Surprises!
Are you ready for Christmas in Honey Springs? The holidays have arrived with the boardwalk decked out and a snow slurry or two adding to ‘White Christmas’ hopes, but it also brings the delicious aroma of Christmas Harvest Blend brewing and Santa Kiss Cookies fresh out of the oven wafting from Roxie’s coffeehouse The Bean Hive. She is very excited about spending her first Christmas in Honey Springs with her mother, her aunt, new friends, and her handsome fiancé Patrick Cane, ready to join the community with all the festivities including the annual tree lighting ceremony. But, a murderous ‘Grinch’ has put the holiday cheer on hold when Otis Peavler, owner of the tattoo parlor Odd Ink, is found dead, sticking out from under the holiday tree, and wrapped in lights. He was her neighbor and friend and finding out who is responsible is something she can’t leave to someone else, although the local law enforcement is not so eager to see her at crime scenes or visiting witnesses and persons of interest.
Delightful Fun! Tonya has penned another clever mystery with twists and turns, lots of suspects with motives, secrets needing to be uncovered, and a “Wow!” ending, but the myriad of fun characters, family dynamics, and romantic entanglements is where this series really shines. I greatly enjoy the excellent descriptions that make the town, the sights, the smells all come alive with the type of dialog that seems like I am more of an ‘eavesdropper.’ Fans, like me, are thrilled with our continued journey, and if you are a newbie, you need not shy away since there are enough references to background and character connections to keep you turning the page.
I did receive this book in exchange for a review. This is the third book in the Killer Coffee Cozy Mystery series and I feel it’s the best one yet. What’s not to love: the scenery – takes place in Honey Springs, KY on a boardwalk and is during the Christmas season. Location – the Bean Hive Coffee Shop is featured as it is where the main character works (Roxanne Bloom). Tonya has developed her characters and at the same time, plotted a mystery that could have been a few different people. Roxy’s romance with Patrick is “blooming” and she has reconciled with her mother. I really loved the book and cannot wait until number 4 is available.
This is the third book in the Killer Coffee Mystery series. It was just as enjoyable as the others. Honey Springs, along with it’s people, it’s southern charm, and it’s animals, is just the type of place anyone would feel right at home in. And it gets you in the mood for Christmas. The only exception to the serenity is finding a dead body. That’s when Roxy, owner of The Bean Hive, starts her sleuthing. The story is very well written. There’s a little romance, great friends, a few laughs along the way, but it keeps you guessing until the end as to whodunit. Lots of twists and turns on the plot. And, of course, it makes you want a cup of Roxy’s coffee. So looking forward to the next one.
Freshly Ground Murder by Tonya Kappes is a must read. Honey Springs, Kentucky is a magical place at Christmas time. Everyone gathers in the Town Center for the lighting of the Christmas tree and the Pawparade. This year however things don’t go quite as planned when a dead body is found under the Christmas tree. Tonya Kappes has a way of writing about her characters so that by the end of the book you feel as if you know them and can picture yourself interacting with them. A well written mystery that you won’t want to put down. I highly recommend it!
Loved this characters and atmosphere of this book.
Freshly Ground Murder A Killer Coffee Mystery by Tonya Kappes is one of those books that makes you want to go to Honey Springs sit down at the Bee Hive and enjoy a cup of Christmas Harvest COFFEE while sharing gossip with the Honey Springs residents. This is a warm, charming yet mysterious book that keeps you engaged in the mystery until the end.
It’s Christmas time and all is wonderful at the Bee Hive and Honey Springs. Roxy is getting into the spirit of Christmas but when Otis is murdered she finds herself smack dab in the middle trying to find out what happened and why. Secrets are uncovered and suspects are many. Can Roxy Bloom figure out who killed Otis and why without getting into danger herself?
I enjoyed this book with the Christmas theme, the irresistible characters, the setting of small town as well as an intriguing puzzle mixed with secrets and many suspects. Roxy is one that you could just see being best friends with. She is smart, strong, intuitive and caring, all which make her a good investigator, even if Patrick, her Mother, Aunt Maxi and Spencer would rather she keep her nose out of it. She isn’t deterred easily and I even had to laugh when Spencer marveled at how she got information even before or as fast as he could. Aunt Maxi is probably my favorite because she is outspoken, unique in her own way and opinionated. She can hold her own with anyone and doesn’t care what others think, she is her own woman.
This book is like a good cup of coffee, it is strong, warm and good from the beginning right to the very last. If you like a good mystery mixed with wonderful characters, many secrets, several possible suspects, a little romance and a good ending then don’t miss this book.
I give this book 5 stars and look forward to the next one.
I received this ebook for my honest opinion and review
It’s Christmas time and Honey Springs is going all out with their annual Christmas in the Park. As they light up the Christmas tree they quickly realize something is wrong. There is a pair of legs sticking out from under the tree. The legs belong to one of Roxy’s friends. Was this an accident or did someone commit murder? Roxy can’t help but try to find out who murdered her friend. She soon her friend has led a life of secrets? Can Roxy solve the murder without ruining her first Christmas in Honey Springs?
I love this series, once again Mrs. Kappes does not disappoint. She has created realistic characters and a lovely town I would enjoy visiting. I love the relationships that the Roxy has formed in the short time she has lived in Honey Springs. I also enjoy the partnership Rozy has with the local animal shelter and her coffee shop to help the animals find their forever home.
This is a quick fun read. Great holiday read mystery lovers. Recipes included. I would recommend this book, it can be read in the series or as a stand-alone mystery.
I was provided with an ARC of this book with the hopes I would review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
When one of the town residents is found murdered at the community tree lighting ceremony, Roxy can’t help but investigate. But she stumbles onto a tangled family secret creating the possibility of more than one suspect in the crime.
From page one, the author’s vivid description of the town of Honey Springs will make you crave a cup of coffee and put you in the Christmas mood in that order! I love the names of the stores on the boardwalk – so whimsical and cute. Roxy and group are likeable characters that I enjoy reading about and can’t wait to visit with in the next book!
