Fans call me the king of the water. I’m focused, driven, and most importantly, I win.Life as a professional swimmer comes with sacrifices, but they’ve never worried me. I’m used to life with little room for anything but training, eating, and sleeping.Nothing more, nothing less. When a son I knew nothing about lands on my doorstep—and a crazy but very beautiful nanny shortly after—my life is turned … after—my life is turned upside down. Allowing any change into my life could put my goals and dreams in jeopardy, and I’ve worked too hard and too long for them.
When I’m tempted to look beyond lap times and medals to bedtime stories and the possibility of love, I face one of the hardest questions of my life: is it worth the risk?

I just can’t get over how amazing this story was. The author places us in the characters lives and you can feel all their emotions and pain that they go through. Jace is an Olympic swimmer who gets the surprise of his life one day and now he is struggling with maintaining his training, being a good dad, and staying on top in his sport. Jace immediately loves his son Tanner even though he isn’t prepared for him but the love between father and son is automatic even if at times it can be awkward between the two. Jace decides he needs help, so he hires the perfect person to be Tanner’s nanny, Emilia. Emilia aka Emmie aka Em aka Ladybug comes from a family that is mean, judgmental, and cruel even to her. She suffers from a learning disorder and she works with children, so automatically her family berates her and treats her like she isn’t smart and beneath them and Jace is the only person to stand up to them for Em. These two are perfect for each other and their chemistry is off the charts, but they both have things that they struggle with so trust and love may not go hand in hand. They must learn to navigate between those two things while providing care for Tanner but can they both deal with their insecurities together or will they let them rip them apart? A beautiful read that takes you through every emotion and warms your heart one second and then tragically rips it in two the next. This is my favorite book by this author even though I love all her reads, this is just too beautiful.
A very good book. Though she’s sweet and a good character. I was more drawn to Jace. He was an amazing character for me. Very swoon worthy. Lots of feels in his corner. Ending seemed a little anticlimactic. Nice but didn’t do the book justice.
This is my first book by Jasmin Miller and I was not disappointed! It is number 2 in the Kings of the Water series but reads perfectly as a standalone. I will say, the secondary characters are amazing so I’ll be picking up more in this series for sure. Jace is an Olympic swimmer and his world gets turned upside down when he finds out he has a son. His mom recommends a nanny and Emilia enters into this newly single dad’s life. I really liked the chemistry between the two of them. How they were this opposites attract couple. I also loved the way they supported each other and how they both always put the adorable little boy first. This book has just the right element of sports, romance, and steam! Definitely recommend!
A single dad romance that the word will wrap around your heart and hold it tight. Jace is an Olympic swimmer training, when his world was tossed upside down. Needing help with his son, he hired Millie. Millie is an amazing young woman who is great with child. The connection and chemistry between Jace and Millie will pull you in with each line of the book.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Super cute romance between a champion swimmer, Jace, and a creative children’s performer, Em. They meet out of necessity, but over time become so much more than boss/employee.
Jace has a big heart, and Em’s is even bigger. I love how these two complement each other and help each other realize their dreams. Very good book with wonderful characters.
From the swoon-worthy cover to the stunning end this story captured my heart. I loved the characters and the story was simply gorgeous!
Great story! Jace and Millie/Em just suck you in and then throw in adorable little tanner and it’s icing on the fabulous cake! Jace finds out he has a son after the death of tanners mom. Adorable 2 year old tanners life is upended along with jaces struck structured swimmers career life. But then Millie comes in and helps to smooth the way to healing and bonding. Watching their moments of bonding and live was heart wrenching and hits you in the feels every time. You feel like you’re right there cheering every milestone on. Loved their slow burn connection. Their minor blip of a climax and problem was easily fixed. Each having fault in either crappy communication, hiding things or snap reactions. Loved the ending!
Very enjoyable. He’s an Olympian swimmer and she is into children’s shows. He suddenly becomes a dad when his child is dropped off after it’s mother dies. He didn’t even know about him. She needs a job so she takes on being his nanny. Well written
Just fell in love with Jace. Maybe the swimming scene could have been more prominent but this is my one in the series, maybe other details of the world of top swimming are shared. Just a warm story of commitment, on someone didn’t ask for. He is the sweetest guy. Emilia is soooo lucky, and Tanner the sweetest little thing. Cake please, I’m on to my next book in the series..
Is there anything hotter than a single dad? Especially if he’s devoted to being a great dad? Jasmin Miller has given us one hot single dad who also happens to be an Olympic swimmer!
Jace was determined to finish out his professional swim career with one more Olympics, but then a surprise came knocking on his door and his world was flipped, can he still achieve his dreams and be a good father?Jasmin continues to give us larger than life characters who have dimension and refuse to lay flat on the page. This is a story filled with emotion and steam!
This is a fantastic addition to the Kings of the Water series. Do not miss out on Jace and Millie’s story!
Jace finds himself a single parent to a two year old son, Tanner. As he is unsuccessfully interviewing nannies, Emilia (Millie, Em) and Tanner share a connection that was missing with everyone else. Although, Jace made a snap judgment about Emilia based on her appearance, he quickly changed his mind realizing how good she is with children.
After losing her job working on a children’s show, Emilia needs the nanny job as she pursues her dream show. Jace needs the help because he is training to compete in his fourth Olympics.
Jace starts to see Emilia in a different light when he needs extra help with Tanner one night. As he bonds with Tanner, their attraction to one another grows. And, when Jace comes to her rescue with her family, she is a goner.
Emilia is looking for someone to accept and love her for who she is. Jace realizes how empty his life was before Em and Tanner entered it. Their chemistry is off the charts once it is unleashed.
When a competition doesn’t go the way Jace planned on, he retreats and it breaks Em’s heart he doesn’t turn to her for comfort. Somehow it draws them closer together having time apart. But, when Em’s audition has the possibility of falling thru because of a miscommunication and Jace realizes what taking this job would mean to their relationship, he lashes out.
Realizing no one is perfect, but they are perfect for one another. They balance each other in ways no one else ever has.
This is such a sweet, slow burn love story. Jace and Emilia are easy to fall in love with. Reading how Jace falls in love with his son and seeing Tanner blossom will give you all the feels.
Oh, and the epilogue… is
Such a beautiful story. Tanner fell in Jace’s life like a meteor, he wasn’t ready for it, like most people wouldn’t, but the way he handled it was amazing. With open arms and heart. His love for that little boy was beautiful. Seeing their relationship, their connection evolve was heart melting. And Millie? Such a carefree, gentle and sweet spirit. She’s amazing. Her way with kids, her career, I absolutely loved her character. And the the way she and Jace came together was intoxicating. From hot looks, subtle touches, to a beautiful friendship and an explosive chemistry… I need me some love like this. It was an amazing book, and I can’t wait to know more about the other boys love story
This is the 2nd book in this amazing series and is Jace and Millie aka Em’s story. Jace is a competitive profession swimmer who has a strict regime which is training / eating / swimming, and no time for relationships just casual hook-ups. Jace’s life is in a tailspin when a little toddler Tanner lands on his doorstep and having no clue how to care for a little one he needs help. Millie is hired as the nanny, and she has an instant rapport with Tanner. Although these two start off as boss / employee their relationship soon moves on to friends and more. The chemistry between these two is undeniable. This is a well written story which is emotionally charged, and is a sweet, fun, entertaining, slow burn with a tad angst thrown into the mix. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend for all readers.
WOW what a great book
I‘m a massive fan of Jasmin Miller and I love myself some single daddy tropes, so it wasn‘t really a surprise that this book was right up my alley.
First of all. Look at that COVER!! OMG it‘s amazing and I need it on my shelf – NOW!
Secondly.. I loved the story so much. Jace and Millies story is perfect! The characters as individuals are amazing. I fell in love with Jace from the start and the interactions with his two year old Tanner are just sooo heartwarming and made me want my own sinfle dad. Millies character is great. She‘s silly and loveable and has a heart of gold despite her upbringing and her love for Tanner is just unreal.
Jace‘s struggle to being a new dad was real and you could feel how much he loved his son even though he didn‘t know what to do. Millie helped him alot with that and it was great to see the dynamic between the three of them.
Jasmin‘s writing was great as always and you just can‘t get enough of her storys and characters.
5 out of 5
I really liked this book! I went in blind not knowing what it was really about. I saw it all over Instagram and thought I’d give it a try! I’m so glad I did! If life hadn’t gotten in the way this would of been a one sit read! It was a fast paced low drama book! If you like single parent romances you should definitely give this book a shot.
I truly enjoyed this read. It has fabulous characters that are truly good people with flaws. It was nice to read a story where a couple times the communication gets lost and hurt happens but it is a lesson learned and and an acceptance of being human.
Greatly enjoyed and I look forward to reading more from this author!
A fantastic read! This story pulls you in from the very first page. The story line is well-developed, consistent, engaging, and emotionally deep with drama, twists, witty banter, humour, and hotness; it will keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what is to come next. The characters you will fall in love with especially little Tanner; the chemistry between Jace and Em is amazing and undeniable. A recommended read!

‘Fresh Meet’ is the first book in the Kings of the Water Series and I was lucky to receive an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely love slow burn romances, and this book has everything to give any romance lover the feels. The story is about Jace, an Olympic swimmer who has his world shook by becoming a father overnight. It is something he had not anticipated, and knows from the get go that he will need help and assistance. So when he interviews for a nanny, he does not expect Emilia to fill the position.
Emilia is a breath of fresh air, she is colourful, Cooky and caring, she is in a league of her own, but her passion and love for children shines through, and she ensures that she does a damn good job. But she has one problem, she can’t help but find Jace as equally as charming as his little boy Tanner, and very soon she finds it hard to resist his charms.
This book is perfect for all slow-burn romance lovers. It is realistic, full of drama and lots of twists and turns that make you enjoy it all the more.
Em has dyslexia and Tanner learns to communicate via sign language, which adds a unique flavour to the book, and I could not get enough of these wonderful characters. I am so extremely excited to see what Ryan and Harper’s book has in store!
This is my first read from this author and I loved it. I am complete to love with all the characters but mostly with little Tanner. I can’t wait to see what’s next and will definitely be checking out the other books by this author.
Fresh Meet is a single dad romance and one I will read again and again. Jace and Millie captured my heart and never let go. I loved this story for all of it’s heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. I felt like I was on an emotional roller-coaster while reading their story, but it was one that was worth it. It is one of my favorite reads so far this year and if you like single dad romances then this one’s for you.
