There are some things you just have to deal with.Like your hot as hell college booty call moving in next door with his adorable daughter. The only time we’ve ever gotten along is under the sheets. Old habits die hard because two minutes on my front porch is how long it takes us to bicker. Not that a little fact like that bothers my healthy, eighty-year-old grandmother and roommate who’s determined … roommate who’s determined to see me married before she bites the dust.
Unfortunately for me, she’s got her eye set on Mason Black.
She’s barking up the wrong tree. He’s not The One, no matter how much I swoon when I see him with his daughter. I have no intentions of rekindling anything with him–until a rubber spider in my mailbox starts off the mother of all neighborhood prank wars, just like the ones we had in college, and throws me right into his path.
One that leads right to his bedroom…

Hart writes rom com romance perfection with her new release Frenemies.
Frenemies is the story of two college lovers reuniting years later as neighbors. Imogen had never quite forgiven Mason for their break up. All it took was one nosy, hilariously funny and meddling Granny to ensue the ultimate prank war to reunite these two former flames.
Hart truly nails a sweet, witty romance. The bickering banter and sexual tension are on point making this one another 5 star read.
This book was hysterical. Grandma Jen is the best! I love all the banter of Mason and Immy! A great, funny story!
What would you do if a man you had a friends with benefits relationship showed up 6 years later? This is the exact question our main character Imogen has to deal with when Mason her former friend with benefits from college shows up next door. In college they did not like each other but had sexual chemistry that was off the charts. When he didnt call her after he left school she blew the whole thing off as a bad decision. Now that she sees him, looking hotter than ever, moving in next door she wants answers and is determined to not fall back into his bed. This book is a great mix between enemies to loves and second chance since they did previously have a sexual relationship and both secretly want more.
For me Grandma Jen is the reason to pick up this great book from Emma Hart. She is an 80 year woman who speaks her mind and is sexually inappropriate not only with the people she loves but also with her book club. Imagine if you will a group of older women sitting around discussing 50 Shades of Grey like they stared in the book themselves (hide your whisky now). She is determined to make her granddaughter see that Mason is the perfect choice for her. She tells Immy that she read her diary all those years ago and knows that Mason is the one she slept with back at school and keeps reminding her of this fact.
Emma Hart is one of my favorite writers. She not only writes a great romance but she gives her characters unique personalities that can never be forgotten (see Grandma Jen above). I am so happy that with Immy having her HEA Grandma Jen is now going to set her eyes on hooking up her other granddaughter Hannah. Thank you to Emma for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Frenemies did in 160 pages what some books can’t do in 400. It told a complete love story filled with just the right amount of banter and hilarious hi-jinks. I loved Mason and his daughter Maya. I adored Imogen and her crazy Grandma Jen. I was invested in the romance from the beginning until the very end. There wasn’t really any angst or drama. This novella was just a fun filled read. It’s great for anyone looking for a quick, light romantic read.
Absolutely hilarious from start to finish, and I read this in one sitting. One thing I can always count on when it comes to an Emma Hart book is that not a lot of time is wasted on backstory info. We get the minimal amount needed in order for us to understand whatever relationship the characters have at present in the story.
There’s already history between Immy and Mason from 6 years prior to the start of the book, and things didn’t end exactly all that well the first time around. Because of this fact, Immy isn’t exactly excited that Mason is her new neighbor. The banter between them is a mix of hilarious and snarky and a bit flirtatious at times. Throw in Immy’s grandmother Jen and her merry band of geriatric sidekicks, a precocious 3-year-old and a bunch of unresolved feelings and you’ve got one helluva a fun story.
This book was hilarious. Grandma Jen was one of the funniest characters I’ve ever read. Everything she says is inappropriate and raunchy, unless there is a certain three year old around, and she is up in everyone’s business. I loved her character. This is a funny second chance romance between Imogen, aka Immy, and Mason. Immy lives with the aforementioned hilarious Grandma Jen, running the family art store, and making sure Grandma doesn’t get into too much trouble around town and with her equally rowdy book club friends (think Golden Girls on steroids). Mason is Immy’s friend with benefits from college, who really hurt her when he graduated and left without a word. The agreed they wouldn’t get serious with each other and leave their feelings out of their relationship, but they both knew they had something more. Now, six years later Mason and his adorable daughter Maya are moving next door to Immy and Grandma Jen. Grandma is determined to have Immy married by her next birthday, and Immy is determined to make Mason’s life miserable for hurting her all those years ago. Unfortunately for Immy, she’s still attracted to Mason, and when he apologizes for hurting her, she has to deal with her feelings and decide if they can be friends or if she wants to be enemies forever. Well you can imagine that the sparks fly between them leaving Immy even more confused about her feelings for Mason and where she fits in his life as a single dad.
As I said this was really funny. I really loved that we had a single dad in the relationship, who is a doting father and has a healthy relationship with her mother. It was nice to see the healthy family dynamic between Mason and his ex as positive role models for little Maya. So often we see the cheating trope or the “I hate my ex” trope. I really appreciated that the angst was between Mason and Immy, and it wasn’t really that angsty it was actually pretty funny. I also really liked that Grandma Jen, while a bit ridiculous about it, doesn’t pull punches when she calls Immy out on not dealing with her feelings toward Mason.
If you are looking for a laugh out loud romance, check this one out.
Frenemies by Emma Hart is a wonderfully written, fun book full of great characters and a catchy storyline. Imogen lives with her grandma (who’s a hoot!). She runs her families Arts and Craft store whilst giving lessons to children throughout the week. One day, Imogen gets a new neighbour and it is no other that Mason, her not boyfriend but hook up buddy from college who left without saying goodbye. Hence the drama of him moving in next door! Also, in tow is Mason’s cute little daughter, his ex who is going to get remarried and drama of epic proportion. The story focuses on fate and how Imogen and Mason are meant to be, if only Imogen could put on her big girl pants and deal with her past.
This is a laugh out loud rom com, which Emma Hart does really well. Imogen’s grandmother is a hoot as is the rest of the granny reading book club! There are so many wonderful characters throughout this book, it is hard to put your finger on just one that you like. Mason and Imogen are great together, they have a fun-loving attitude towards each other and some of the practical jokes that they do to each other are hilarious! Saying that, there is a serious side in the book and that comes from Imogen and her moving on from Mason in the past. There certainly were a few mistakes and mis-communications on both parts!
Mason is such a good character; he is a good dad and I think he rather enjoys the quirkiness which is Imogen and her grandmother. Mason might have been a booty call in college but he has certainly matured into a good man, father and guy. I just think Imogen likes giving him a hard time to change to much in the beginning.
The story is minimal drama (except from grandma) and mainly focuses on having to grow up and forget about the past, being a different type of adult and being in a fated relationship when both are ready.
If you like your books with a lot of wit, sass, minimal drama, entertaining and totally laugh out loud moments, then Frenemies and Emma Hart are the ones for you! A really enjoyable read!

Frenemies by Emma Hart is a deliciously sweet, charmingly sarcastic, laugh out loud 2nd chance romance. It’s a Frenemies to lovers romance that will have you doubled over in laughter; Imogen and Mason are the couple that just light up the pages with their prank wars, their sexy banter, their chemistry. Mason is a single dad and he parents like no one’s biz to his lil girl. He is such a good dad. Imogen and Mason have history. Trust me, the feels, steam, chemistry will just leap off the pages as the story just plays out. I really liked Imogen and her grandma. Seriously, the secondary characters are so perfect. They add another sensational layer to the story. (Hanna’s story is coming up in March).
OMG Emma Hart seriously is a Rom-Com Queen. Her stories just have me in stitches and/ or swooning. My favs!!!
My Rating: 4.5 stars *****
This book by Emma Hart had me laughing out loud. Of course, there’s the crazy grandma and an adorable little kid and two antagonistic main characters!
Immy and Mason were lovers in college when once he graduated, he left saying he’d call her but he never did. In a fun twist of fate, Mason moves in next door to Immy. When Immy sees him moving in next door, all her old feelings resurface and she realizes that she never got over him. Good thing she has a fun, meddlesome grandma to instigate trouble and get them to keep having to deal with each other.
This book had me laughing out loud, especially with the prank wars. Will they be able to overcome past hurts and rekindle a love lost? Read this fun book to find out!
Raise your hand if this cover caught your attention? It certainly did mine! I love her covers. They’re appealing to the eyes with the bold and vibrant colors! I think it’s these that actually started my reading journey with her work! There’s just something about a pretty cover that gets me every time!
Frenemies by Emma Hart is a standalone, frenemies to lovers, neighbors to lovers, second chance romance. That’s a lot of tropes rolled into one and I ADORED IT. Immy and Mason are quite the pair and watching the two with their prank wars and hilarious banter is so much fun. Immy’s grandmother is a woman after my own heart and I loved her dirty mouth, questionable choices at book club, and the way she interferes with her granddaughter’s love life. I swear, I was laughing out loud so much while reading it! In terms of the romance, theirs was pretty slow as their past was rearing it’s ugly head around every turn, but when it finally comes together for these two? FIREWORKS! I’m so glad this wasn’t an insta love story because it would have felt two easy.
All in all, this is a fantastic romcom and I cannot WAIT for Hanna’s story in Number Neighbors which releases in March. That cover, just like this one, is GORGEOUS!
Immy and Mason met in college and had a lot of fun together. Mason promised to stay in contact but things happened. When Immy notices a new neighbor, she’s in for a shock but what will she do about it? You will laugh, smile through this story.
Frenemies is Emma Hart’s newest standalone romcom romance and it’s f@cking hilarious!!! It seems like every time I crave an over-the-top, laugh-out-loud book, Emma has a release just on time. The synopsis explains the story perfectly so I will make it fast.
Six years. It has been six years since Immy saw him. A man who gave her all the orgasms over the span of two years in college. Next. Door. He was moving in right next door to her and her wacky-ass grandma. And it wasn’t just him moving in. He had an adorable little girl in tow and he didn’t have a ring on that finger. Not that it mattered to her. She hated him. Hated him for not calling her after graduating like he promised. It might have been six years ago but those feeling never went away. And now he was back and so were the feelings of hurt and lust. And more.
It was on! After speaking to him just once she knew she should stay away. Then it happened. A spider. And it was on. Pranks were just one of their things. If Mason wanted a war then she was ready. Even if she wasn’t ready for everything that followed.
Omfg!!! I laughed so hard while reading this book that my husband thought I was crazy. Immy. Mason. Maya. Hannah. Grandma Jen and her friends. I can’t even tell you how many times I snorted. Just picturing the shenanigans had me rolling. And it wasn’t just that. There was the swooning and seriousness too. It was a wonderful mix of it all. I can’t wait for the next book!!
Quotes:
“Imogen! We’ve been reading War and Peace for the last three weeks! It’s imperative that we have our snacks.”
“War and Peace? Are you shitting me? You’re reading Fifty Shades of Grey hardbacks with War and Peace dust covers you ordered off eBay.”
“How do you know that?”
“You used my eBay account!”
“Oh.”
“Yes, oh.”
“I honestly don’t know what I’m doing here.”
“You’re being a set of eyes for me. Wait here.” I walked into the bathroom and held down the button. “Can you hear me?” The line crackled.
“Yes, Lady Ridiculous, I can hear you.”
I didn’t appreciate her attitude.
“Why are you always in a towel when I knock?”
“Trying to tempt you into realizing what you’re missing, obviously. What’s up?”
4.5 hilariously entertaining stars.
Emma did a fabulous job with this one, she had me laughing so much one minute and then totally swooning over Mason the next.
I was sucked in from the minute I started this and couldn’t put this down until I had finished. Not sure my hubby was impressed with all the muttering that was going on under his breath as he tidied up lol.
I honestly think this was one of my favourite reads from Emma to-date and as much as I loved Imogen and Mason with their prank wars, I can’t help but think Grandma Jen and her book club honestly stole the show!
This book covered all my favourite genres, frenemies-to-loves, neighbours, hot single dad, second-chance romance! The chemistry between Mason and Imogen really steamed up my kindle. The sexual tension between them was palpable and undeniable, not matter how much Imogen tried to.
Can’t wait to see what Emma brings us next with Number Neighbour
Frenemies – a new stand-alone rom-com from the queen of sass Emma Hart!
Imogen lives together with her grandma, when one day they get a new neighbor:
Mason. Who she knows very well from college and hurt her by leaving her.
Can Immy forgive Mason for hurting her?
Such a funny laugh out loud new story from Emma!! Loved grandma Jen and her friends, little Maya and all other side characters!
The built up tension was HIGH and I couldn’t wait for them to kiss
I definitely recommend this book and am already excited for Number Neighbors!!!
I kindly received an arc from the author and voluntarily left a review
I love Emma Hart’s books, have been a fan forever it seems, to this day my favorite will be Holly Woods Files, favorite..If you haven’t read please do so..Ok Let me get to this one. So we meet Imogen who has a crazy grandmother, and we seem to have a lot of those, anywho Jen(crazy gran) is looking out the window when she sees a hot piece of (you know) and Imogen does not want to hear, when she looks out the window who does she her long lost love, the guy who broke her heart and never called after being together for 2 years, now they both said it was casual and no feelings involved but they were both lying. Now here comes Mason with a child in tow, and is shocked that it was the girl that he never forgot. Imogen claims that she is mad at him because he never called and is hurt by this, however she didn’t act it, she was always at his house, regardless is grandma wanted her to take baked goods, if she really wanted Mason to have the goods she could take them, but nooooo Imogen would go then say I am mad at you and do not want to be friends. I loved the old ladies, and I liked Imogen I just wish she got a heart felt apology and actually made him work for it. Mason, don’t tell me you loved her and she is your soul mate, the girl you never forgot-bull buddy you would have called had that been the case.
rcvd an arc at no cost to author..voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions.
This was a hilarious romantic comedy and one of my favorite of Emma’s. Imogen and Cameron were both fantastic characters. I was rooting for them from the beginning, even though it appeared Immy couldn’t stand Cameron. I also absolutely adored Immy’s grandmother.u2063

I read this book in one sitting. If you are looking for a quick and fun romantic comedy, look no further than Frenemies! Now I am just counting down the days till Number Neighbors!
Emma Hart’s newest Rom/Com is laugh out loud hilarious!!!!! Hart is a definite one-click author, and this book is one that is right there along with the others, a definite one-clicker!!!! Hilarious, sexy, steamy, and fun to ready!!!! Go right now and buy this book!!!
Mason Black has moved next door to Immy. That’d be no big deal except they were sorta a thing back in college. And Immy is still upset over how it all ended… he never called when he said he would.
But they’re different people now… older, more mature. At least they’re supposed to act like that way, but they fall into old pranks that they did to one another back in college.
Toss in a 3 year old (Mason’s) and Immy’s cooky grandmother and you have a funny, second-chance romance. I really enjoyed this book but it felt slightly rushed for my tastes. Definitely one-click now to find out what happens.
Emma Hart is back with a new series. Frenemies is book one and what an introduction to this series! It’s a romantic comedy with prank wars, and a meddling Grandma and I adored this one! It is a standalone that hits on several tropes: second chance, neighbors, frenemies, and single dad. Imogen is living with her crazy Grandma, when the new neighbors move in: her college ex, Mason, with his 3-year-old daughter. You can imagine she’s quite surprised and angry! What ensues is her matchmaking Grandma getting involved and an epic prank war between Mason and Imogen. The pranks were hilarious and quite clever! While I loved all the characters, Imogen’s Grandma was my favorite. Her antics were snort-worthy! This was a one-sitting read for me, which rarely happens. I did want a little more out of the ending, but I’m hoping in the next book we’ll get more from Imogen and Mason. Looking forward to Hannah and Isaac’s book next! It’s a cute, lighthearted, fun rom-com and I enjoyed it so much!
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Fun romance with a capital F. You can count on this author for a chunky helping of sarcasm, good-natured banter and friendly chemistry.
In this novel, Mason and Imogen are old flames from college who reunite as neighbours in the most hilarious circumstances. They embark on a furious yet funny war of dialogues, getbacks and walks down memory lane while he proves his patience with toddlers, grannies and wayward animals. And she whips him with her snarky tongue lashes and flaunts her whims on him until their feelings overwhelm the past.
What’s more, the single Daddy is a good man, and I couldn’t help but love him a little on her behalf. Or maybe trust Granny’s brutal ways as a matchmaker to get the happily-ever-after this almost-couple was too busy bickering to get for themselves.
I had a great time with this cute romcom, loved the slow burn in the middle of the crazy neighbours and the laughs and the pranks, enjoyed their fireworks in the bedroom when they finally happened as they should, and I am really looking forward to the next story about cousin Hannah and the British vet!
